I have a 2019 Suzuki DF175AP and during a propeller check I noticed a 0.65 mm (0.025 inch) prop shaft end play. Service manual says it should be no backlash. It is safe to use it as it is?

Curious as to whether this completely flushes the whole engine, if the thermostat is closed? Should you also run on muffs or in a drum, to get the thermostat open?

I am also curious about that answer. Can never get a straight answer, if running with muffs, you have to make sure you are running long enough for the thermostat to get opened, if not, then the muffs do the same thing.

@@boydscj7 Agree...lotta discussions about this!!! Suzuki recommends the muffs as the "preferred method" of flushing in the owners manual for my DF115. The marina where I purchased says use the flush port. Confusing huh? It is also recommended to use the round muffs versus the rectangular ones on a DF115...

@Roger Otto how’s the oxygen levels up there on your throne, oh mighty one? I was gonna “Like” your comment until I read the last condescending sentence.

Here for the same question. No one seems to know for sure. I'd like to use the ports without engine running if it is proper. I read on a forum that someone flushed only from port. When the motor was apart due to a bad head gasket, he confirmed that the engine was completely clean. Its encouraging but not enough for me. Hoping the video creator comments!

@@smazza78definitely do not run the motor if you are using the flush ports. Only run the motor if using muffs.
I have had outboards my whole life as has my father. From the day manufacturers started adding flush ports that’s all we have used and have had absolutely no issues.

How does that flush past the t stats?? How does that flush the fuel cooler??

Use the muffs. No point in using that port. Best thing is to flush your engine with the muffs while the engine is hot. Or you can easily remove the t-stat and put the t-stat cover back on and flush it when the engine is cold. Just dont forget to put the t-stat back in. And if the guys at the marina say use that little port.. Dont let them work on your boat..

@@ajmobilemastertechniciannu9427 You can use the port if you want to make sure it starts.

This is far from good enough to flush your motor.
