    I'm not even a trucker but I've been binging on videos to find out what works for jelled Diesel and a cold environment. We just got back from West Virginia and coming from North Carolina there was no such animal as cold diesel. LOL. Anyway, one of our parties Chevy diesel was doa, and of course he didn't have a block heater because in North Carolina why would we need one. That wouldn't have helped his gelled fuel and he ended up getting it towed to a warm shop which cost a pretty penny. I am the guy who can fix anything but I left with my tail between my legs because I could not help our friend.
    I was thinking about carrying something for these guys and I Think Fuel Ox heat bomb is where I'll settle. Thanks for the video!

    Diesels do not like that cold...cover the radiator first thing....always treat the diesel so it won't gel...always plug them in over night and I put plastic over the motor to help hold more head....

    Nothing is going to prepare anyone for these never before seen storm ( s) ( Freezing rain, snow, rain, under sub zero temperatures ), for days; meaning, the best advice is to tell them to shut down the truck; in other words, don't let greed overcome commonsense/ safety.

  • @rogermadrange1724

    Thank you! This is great advice. I gelled up last year in Minnesota -38 degrees F I’m always scared it will happen again. I make sure to educate myself and doing everything I can on my part to prevent another gel-up. It is NOT fun. If you don’t get someone out there to help you, you will certainly freeze to death.

      @adamantium_1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely I agree . I'm here because of a mistake I made last night. I shut my engine off -20° in Cheyenne , Wyoming. About 4-5 hours froze my ass off on top of that I couldn't even use the microwave or coffee machine the engine wouldn't turn over gelled up .

    No one is saying what temperature to add anti-gelling products. What temperature do you add anti-gel?

    • @DIYSEMI
      @DIYSEMI  ปีที่แล้ว

      depends where you are buying the fuel. fuel in the south is not blended as much as up north. in that case i would start adding it around 20 degrees, just in case it gets colder. up north i dont really worry until below 10 degrees...even down to zero maybe. but i always add it because you never really know if someone had a bad day and made a mistake, or get caught in a bad storm or excess water in the fuel, etc. Better safe than sorry

    I raise it to 1k rpm when idling but that's when I rarely idle. I'm not risking it not turning on in this cold, rather spend the fuel than to freeze to death

    My tip is get a 25 lbs dumbbell and set on the gas pedal were the RPM stays at 5 or 6 key point is dumbbell need to be big enough to rest barley on the brake to help keep it steady..but anyway I just did this two nights straight work like a champ.

Battery on reefer frooze up and wouldn't hold charge again. Had to get new one, never again will I not run reefer on continuous for the night in a deep freeze.

    • @markm0000

      @@Montoya1991 I used “Winter Rack” and added it to every gallon of fuel. It was kinda annoying since it kept separating but I don’t think it was designed to be used like that. I have the friction eliminator now and add a little bit to everything around the house that needs a bit of lube.

      I run power service in my pickup (cummins). This morning was -19 plus wind chill. Gelled up so I grabbed my power service bottle and it is frozen solid. Shaking it upside down wouldn't even break up the (anti gel liquid) inside the bottle. I will absolutely never use this company's products again. Just spreading the word of my experience...

      @@DIYSEMI I have not. I'll tell you it works 80% of the time. But when it's really hot and I've run hard it doesn't wanna turn on. I spoke with someone with the APU company he advised that I look for the valves from the truck to the APU because sometimes they turn those valves off when the truck sits a bit. I do not see any valves that he would be talking about. He also told me we are not building spaceships and I could service myself and save $400🤪That was great!
