Just saw the video, thanks for the shout out bro! Good coverage on the additional sensors! And yep, I'm a cyclist. So getting some of those new cycling features on the x40 and 1050 edge units would be slick. You also changed my mind on wireless charging for the most part. Back when I used my Vivoactive 3 and my wife her galaxy watch, mine would charge up full very quickly in about the time it would take me to shower and get ready, but the galaxy would take several hours like 3 or 4. I thought wireless charging was too slow and wouldn't want that on Garmin if it meant way slower charging but wouldn't mind now if it's just as fast. The only downside to wireless charging I'm not ok with is heat. I stopped wireless charging my phones because of how hot they would get, and that's not good for the battery either. Plus it's already too hot outside and wouldn't want to wear a hot watch fresh of the wireless charger. Unless they can fix the heat issue, I'm good with wireless charging.
I always like Garmin for they being focused on health more than other brands and would prefer for them to stay that way, to me that is their appeal. I agree they need to be competitive but, I would prefer if they add features that make sense and practical. This video goes over a few of them, like phone functionality weather is with your phone near or LTE (or optional versions) with speaker and mic. We also need to keep in mind like this video mentioned the more features you add the more battery power will be reduced. Unless they come up with a new battery technology lets be sure not to expect Gamin watches to last as long as they do now which is one of the reasons it also appeals to users. In any case for me if they on top of what the Fenix and Epic line up has they would add the phone (LET/Bluetooth) capabilities with mic and speaker, AI, blood monitor with still a decent battery life that would make me pull the trigger. I would like to see some innovation too that is also practical and useful it seems like tech industry as a whole seem to just focus on refinements (is nothing wrong) but be bold and innovate as well.
Hi there Sir. Very nice and informative video. Was just thinking since I am in the market to purchase a new smart watch. Samsung Galaxy ultra look impressive but I am like shall I go ahead and Garmin Tactix 7 pro Amoled or wait for Fenix 8 which is to be released. Appreciate your advice or opinion.
I would definitely like to see more connectivity in the next Garmin. If they did that it could make it the only watch you ever needed and I could finally ditch my Apple Watch!
My epix pro 51mm has unbelievable battery life. I charge it everyday Saturday even though it’ll show 6 days left. Only reason I’ll upgrade is for lte with texts and calls.
Here's my wishlist (ignoring the leaks): - A 45mm version - Smaller bezel / bigger display - Faster charging Also big software updates are long overdue. Help us better understand the data the watch is already collecting and make suggestions based on the data (e.g. running dynamics). I have a feeling that Garmin is starting to lag behind the competition (e.g coros, Suunto) in that field.
Battery life will be the key items. Between Felix 8 and epic 2 pro. edge 1050 has a bell and speaker Price be around 1100 for the 51 size. 950 for normal size
For me wireless charging is not at all important. There is very little difference between putting the watch down onto a charging pad and connecting the charger cable to the back of the watch. It does not seem like a huge advantage to me. I'm not interested in LTE either. I enjoy getting away from notifications for a while. I usually put my phone into do not disturb mode during bike rides and hikes. A blood pressure monitor is something that I'd be interested in, though.
Yeah I can take or leave wireless charging, another benefit of a port I forgot in the video is to plug the watch into a PC to drag and drop files like mp3 audio books. I personally only have a few apps push to my watch, messaging apps and phone calls primarily. I also snooze notifications on chats so I'm not bothered much even by that. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Appreciate you! 💪🏃
,,,,well! I have had Istinct solar 4 years but now the battery is not charging anymore 😢 so right now I got Kospect Tank T3 ultra for a redikulas price!!!! ,,,,, ovusly i am waiting for Fenix 8 or x ,,,got ust to the says of a bigger What ❤,,, my question is,,,, will finex leev me with no battery life? Spending that money I hope you can change the battery at a certain time 😅 🤙🏻🍻 ,,, nice video 🍻
LTE is pointless, where I go there is no phone signal. I always bring my phone anyway as it has OS Maps on it, so no need to duplicate technology The flashlite which I have on the Epix 2 pro, I though was just a gimmick, BUT ITS REALLY BRILLIANT, so useful.
I would really like if it would be possible to use the watch directly to navigate to a certain adress and not have to use your phone to make the waypoint in explore app first. Also if they could make the UI more intuative to navigate it would be a bonus. Thanks for an interesting video.
It’s a total guess still that the fenix 8 will be released in September. There hasn’t been any information past that one finnish website. I still think next January but who knows. Just wouldn’t get hopes up if it’s not this year.
At this point I don't think "total guess" is accurate. There have been two sites that leaked the dates. Ray made a blog post suggesting the date. Someone that works retail spoke with a Garmin rep who mentioned the date. Is it confirmed? Definitely not. But at some point if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck... It's probably a 🦆😂 Thanks for watching! Appreciate you taking the time to comment 💪🏃
I would think about getting a Garmin if they made it a full smartwatch. Especially for the price they charge on these high end watches. Until that happens I'll have to stick with my Samsung watch.
Definitely 4G is a feature that Garmin must add to Fenix or Epix 8 because this would help, us to be free from our heavy phones while running, swimming etc

A wat to text custom like the apple watch would be awesome. Having a speaker / mic to answer calls would be cool too.

Pretty reasonable list. I've gotten used to 47, but definitely would welcome something with a bit less chunk

Lighter thinner profile without sacrificing battery life.
Yes blood pressure
A good runningpower sensor so you don’t have to use a stryd pod.
Do you find the current calculations from the watch inaccurate?
USB C charge
I feel like they will announce the new watch any day now
Hopefully in the next few weeks!

I would like wireless charging and phone capability
Give me the Venu 3 voice calls and voice assistant in a Fenix sapphire/ titanium edition, and im good.
I think that's where I'm at as well. That with LTE would be ideal for my uses. Thanks for watching! 💪🏃
