I'd like to suggest people giving Lassitude a shot. It's often overlooked because people assume that Miasma with a rusted archistaff does the same thing, but it doesn't. Lassitude has a secondary effect of "stalling" enemies inside the sigil, where they will freeze in their current animation for a moment. Best of all, this effect stacks between multiple sigils, works in tandem with the torpor effect, and the first tier of lassitude can be charged in about 1.5s (or less if you have WKR and articulacy) and then recasted almost immediately afterwards. This is very useful for locking enemies in their knockdown animation. I was able to fully charged and unleashed grand seism on a cursed dragon while he was still knocked down by stacking 3-4 lassitude on him beforehand. Note: the high version of the spell takes significantly longer to charge (~6.5s), so under most circumstances, you'll want to use the lesser version of the spell.
I hope brontide makes a comeback in the sequel, but they need to let you run around and jump without dispelling it. It's such a badass skill that could really shake up magick users opportunities in combat, but the current version is gimped by similar mobility constraints of all the other skills.
I actually have had quite a bit of success with brontide. The trick is knowing when to use the square attack, and when to use the triangle one. Also, don't be afraid to jump cancel out of the spell, as it's actually a pretty good way of doing damage while evading at the same time. I've use both levin and brontide against the cockatrice, and brontide wins out by far in terms of damage.
After trying it out some more, I found some more neat things about brontide: - This is one of the rare instances where the grand version of a spell is significantly better than the lower versions. Grand brontide fixes one of the biggest problems with this spell: stamina consumption. The grand version has noticably lower stamina consumption than the lower versions, and the cast time is only slightly slower. I was able to drive off Death with only one cast of this spell and never cancelling it, and still has stamina to spare (leveled up as mostly sorcerer btw, so my overall stamina is nothing impressive). On that note... - Grand brontide is very good against Death. It's not on the same level as miasma, but when I swapped over to mage from sorcerer for a challenge, it was the most consistent way of damaging him. Brontide's heavy attack (triangle/Y button) is capable attacking Death on the head for extra damage, and you only need to walk backwards to avoid his scythe occasionally. Only other spells that could do this was ingle and maybe levin, but both of them have lower damage than brontide and need to be constantly recasted, instead of just being casted once. - Brontide is very strong in very cramped hallways. The way brontide works is that each swing of the whip strikes 5 times, each time at a different point of the swing, which is why is does more damage if you hit, for example, a garm from their side as opposed to their front. In cramped hallways, the strikes will be forced to stay closer to each other, meaning theirs more chance for each enemy to get hit by multiple strikes. - If you don't have a ring for grand brontide, the base version has lower stamina consumption than high brontide (but still higher than grand brontide). High brontide is actually the worst version when it comes to stamina consumption.
In 2017, when I got this pearl for the first time. Since then, on Xbox, PS4 and now PC. Thank you so much for this vídeos and the content of it. Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
One of my favorite things about the spells is that its not just fireball, iceball, thunderball. The spells have their own elements for matchups but also different mechanics.
Nicely done! Your schematics are always fantastic at showing how to best use the vocation. The visuals for this vocation are epic in that you're commanding meteors, tornados, earthquakes, and even the dead with the necromancy spell. I wish exeque and petrification worked better as the latter is tough to trigger while the former takes far too long to cast. Still, the way Dogma treats the sorcerer vocation is one of my all-time favorite implementations of a magic vocation in any game.
love ingle. Don't think I can leave it. May be shamans aside, sniping a long-range enemy is awesome tool kit, fast casting with auto aim makes dogs and harpies trivialized, Its small aoe makes it doubly useful in tight, ambushed, horde, low visibility situation. But almost useless if game knowledge and battle planning are more adequate.
Can you help the community out please? I understand that you do not read the wiki. But the wiki is EXTREMELY wrong when it tries to describe “Magnitude” and “Morbidity” Magnitude works with the 5 Archmagicks; which are fire, ice, lightning, holy, dark. Morbidity works with the non Archmagicks; which are, Petrification, Poison, Sleep, Torpor, blindness, silence… basically non elemental. Magnitude does not work with debilitating spells. For example. Blearing is a spell that causes blindness, but blindness isn’t an Archmagicks debilitation. The descriptions can basically be read as “increases cumulative damage of the 5 elements” or “increases cumulative damage of the non elemental debilitations.” I’ve personally tested too many times… petrifaction does not work with magnitude. But it works with morbidity
I used to hate how overpowered it was for base game normal mode, to the point where I actively don't unlock focused bolt if I'm playing as any staff user. But as soon as I play hard mode, it becomes significantly less broken due to the higher defense values on enemies, and using it felt more tolerable. Still hate the auto aim on it though.
Miasma and necromancy are much slower than frazil though, so you generally need to anticipate the worms. If you didn't anticipate the leapworms and they get the jump on you, frazil is quicker at dispatching them, plus, they get frozen in one tick from frazil, and freezing them before killing them means they can't apply lowered defense on you. It's definitely not good enough to justify equipping that skill, but if you're just messing around, or you think you have enough damaging skills already, frazil have a couple of niche uses to cover for situations where other spells would be less practical.
For example, I use frazil when I'm playing magick archer, since ice damage is already covered for by sixfold bolt. Frazil therefore allows me to quickly apply rebuffs with rust/gold if I'm close to the target (perdition if they are far away), and, since I don't like playing with ricochet, cleanup leapworms. For reference, my usual MA setup is: - magick bow: sixfold bolt, explosive rivets, vortex trail. - staff: perdition, frazil, levin - daggers: grand scension, instant reset, shadow shackle/sunflare
@@th301f8 Honestly, I barely touched Magick Archer so I didn't even know they had staves. Still think Miasma is more useful overall and it's only slower by about a second but that won't apply to your case since that's exclusive for Sorcerers.
A second usually is the difference between you getting stagger and you getting the spell off. But yes, there is no shot I'm ever equipping frazil on a sorcerer. It's a spell that's purely utility, most of which is better done by miasma.
i have a sorcerer pawn with comestion levin and frigor. they never cast the stronger spells and i can't figure out why every single sorc pawn i see has only the stronger spells, their cast times are too high and pawns never position themselves good enough. anyway comestion is the bread and butter of any sorc build can't recommend it enough
I'd like to add that Gicel is the only ice spell that does physical damage. Frigor does not. Some people say it does but I've tested it and it simply does nothing against golem medals.
You need high knockdown (barbed nails), they are weak to lightning, head is a weakspot. What's your vocation? Explosive arrows can knock them down when used with tenfold arrow. Ranger for ranged knockdowns, warrior for melee knockdowns
Best Dragon's Dogma content on youtube.
Slight correction: Miasma does neutral damage, not dark. That's why it works very well against Death (and almost everything else).

Its the closest thing we got for a melee attack for sorcerer other then its heavy attack, would be neat in DD2 to see even a fire version of it

i'm so glad you keep uploading, once in a while i need to come back to dragon's dogma and you always help me remember how the game works lol
In the next game, I hope they add the motion-based spellcasting (or something like it) that was cut from first game.
Holy enchanted focused bolts are a game breaker.
And I love it.
Wow u are really devoted to this game, you deserve more attention!
Love gicel. Fulmination is great for Ogres and the living armors.
Sorcerers rise up! ❤
I appreciate the video, hope to have your insight in Dragons Dogma 2

Been loving these vids man keep them up
I use Frigor for platforming and for reaching high areas. Bolide for Golems. Might use Gicel for Death farming with cheese.
I always keep Comestion. It makes cursed dragons a joke and is decent against other highly flammable, staggerable enemies.
i wish the mods for ddda were better
As a focus bolt enjoyer,
Thats perfectly balance as all things should be
XD

I managed to find a use for frazil: it's very good at clearing out leapworms.
Necromancy and Miasma are way better for that because they don't disappear when you get flinched by the leap attacks

Good intro
Jizzle Gizzle 💀
Wait, bolide is good against Golems? I thought only the ice spells could even do damage to them since they have a slight bit of physical damage.
Bolide has physical damage too, i think its physical dmg is bigger than Gicel
@Charles Hastings realistic gaming??? xD
I'd like to add that Gicel is the only ice spell that does physical damage. Frigor does not. Some people say it does but I've tested it and it simply does nothing against golem medals.
I NEED DRAGON DOGMA 2 I NEED IT NOW 😬
Which spell did you use ?
We need more spells that deal physical damage. Does Seism deal it as well?
Yes, bolide, gicel and seism all do physical damage. The heavy attack also does.
hello there
Hello xD
Any idea of how to knock down garms consistently?
You need high knockdown (barbed nails), they are weak to lightning, head is a weakspot. What's your vocation? Explosive arrows can knock them down when used with tenfold arrow. Ranger for ranged knockdowns, warrior for melee knockdowns
oh yas
Yo yo yo
Its more than two... Theres so much bad information
exeque, exeqwee however the f*** you say it? had me dead🤣 never been sure myself
