I 3D Printed some headstrap Adapters to retrofit a Q2 comfort strap to my Quest 3- Nice little relaxing video just went up on my channel. Cheers, mates!!😊
Great video, echos most of my thoughts on the Quest 3. I've had the Quest Pro since its launch so I was used to the pancake lenses and still slightly prefer the Pro for PCVR thanks to it QLED displays and local dimming but Quest 3 is a terrific mobile and MR headset. Regarding the space, I've had the opposite experience in that I bought the maximum storage sizes for Quest 1 and 2, and the Pro comes with 256GB, double the standard Quest 3 128GB. But I still went with 128GB this time around. If you have fast internet games download extremely quickly and all your saves are stored in the cloud anyway. I have a 500 mbps fiber optic connection and a game like Red Matter 2 which is 9.1 GB took 3 minutes 27 seconds to download. Given that most games once completed, I'll likely never play again in the two or so year lifecyle of the headset I'm happy to uninstall them and as I prefer a minimalist library anyway. I see the Quest 3 as a drag and drop USB stick more than a place for archival storage, so am happy to just load it up with what I want to play and only keep evergreen games like Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, Eleven Table Tennis permanently installed. Also, I'm really hoping that PCVR will take off again in a couple months when Praydog's Unreal Engine Injector mod releases and brings all Unreal Engine 4 and 5 games into PCVR. I'm really hoping I'm playing Stalker 2 and Hellblade 2 on PC next year rather than Asgard's Wrath 2 and Assassins' Creed on standalone.
Not sure why you compare it to Varjo its not just $1000 its $1000+ 2 base stations $300 + Index Controllers $279 = 1579 not to mention it does not have a microphone or any sound. I am also returning Quest 3 as its a no go for me as i want full body tracking that i currently use on index and waiting on bigscreen beyond as the actual upgrade.
It’s more that before the 50% price cut the Aero felt like it was in a completely different league but if you get the big Quest 3 and elite battery strap the quest starts to push into what was previously viewed as not an entry level price and other headsets some into consideration. I realise the prices aren’t equal but they are much closer than they were not long ago.
The $1000 doesn't include tax either. I considered buying one in the UK but it was 999 Euros plus 198 tax plus 600 for the base stations, index controllers and an audio solution so around 1797 in total. Still around £1000 more than a full size Quest 3 and better headstrap.
Wow man haven't seen you around since forever. Great to see your enjoying your Quest 3. I haven't picked one up yet but I am and I already knowing I will be getting the 512 GB because I really think the 112 GB is to small. I just recently picked up the Pimax Crystal, (2 months ago) and man I am loving it. I am going all the way back to 2015 and playing or checking out games that I was playing with back then with the DK2, and cv1 ect. , and man the visuals are amazing now with the crystal. I know the Quest 3 visually wont be nearly that good but I still sometimes pick up my Quest 2 and I just want the new Gen of pancake lenses, (Hard core VR enthusiast) since DK2 in 2014.
Haha yeah I’ve been a bit too quiet. Ah great to hear the Pimax is working out well, it’s such a compelling product. It’s tempting to fill different gaps with these headsets lately as each of them have their advantages that work well for different things. I know what you mean about enjoying the games you’ve left behind previously, as visual upgrade goes a long way, we still need much more decent games to come through though.
@@RushReality Yes you know this is very true about the gaming and experiences. I mean I started back in 2014 with the DK2 and I honestly don't recall missing not even one day without VR up until this present day. Before the rise of Quest 1 everything was wired until they came out with TP-Cast for vive. Even then there was mind blowing games and experiences. I feel like Quest 1 sort of killed the incredible things that where in VR I mean its a mobile chip. When the pandemic hit, man things just got royally F***ed. Old classic VR from beginning 2014 up until around 2017 or around 2018 was really a WOW factor in most VR cases. Still alittle sad about all this and yes I support the Quest line but I feel that it really slowed down every such amazing experience that we once had and man its taking a long time to even get close to what there was for VR back then. On a positve note I puilled the trigger tonight and ordered the Quest 3 512 GB and I also picked up a wifi 6e router to my 5ghz modem, (gonna be delivered on monday). Going to be fun testing that out and comparing it to my 5G......Oh and after watching Sadly its Bradly, even Sebastian from MRTV, another dozen or so youtubers and you Rush Reality, alot has said this feels like a generational leap and my Hardcore VR enthusiast, and HARD HARD Love for VR I just cant miss this boat.

5:40 Yeah I just tried first encounters from the ground up in theather lit room by just 3 displays and a blue LED lamp at night with black out cuswtens... and man did the depth sensor do work it was really impressive how close it was able to get to the IRL! But yeah not nearly as good as completely room also the tracking was perfect and got less weird vitaural element ness too!... But yeah it may be I have my quick menu bright ness all the way down... But I think if you can move the quest menu bar at all your fine as it can't be moved in pitch black... But maybe it does not like medium brightness or mixed light levels? Or It could be I just got lucky and this is a new update?(Which does wipe your spacail data meaning rescan....) But yeah weird you had issues and I didn'T... Still great video thanks for sharing your expernince!
11:29 But it does have more then a dozen game updates split between VR and MR which honestly is more then the PS2 did and the switch the current best selling console for this gen which the Quest 2 was 3rd... Well just had Zelda breath of the wild a Wii U port that was updates in a simualar way to those quest 2/pro/Rift games are... So hionestly it's a mut point not to mention all the Steam/windows VR games that can be pushed higher on the quest 3 then the quest 2... So yeah even if you just are a VR gamer theirs plenty to do till new games come out.
I’ve certainly been busy playing all the updates and it’s been great fun: would have been awesome to have a AAA title dropping with the headset though. Won’t be long until the free copy of Asgards Wrath lands of Assasins Creed, would have been amazing to have that on day one though.
I'm really disappointed in the price difference between the 128GB and 512GB models. Literally the only difference between the two units is the number of DRAM modules installed. So in theory, the difference in price between the 128GB and 512GB models should be the same difference between a 128GB NVMe SSD and a 512GB NVMe SSD, which is about $20, nowhere REMOTELY close to the $150 extra that Meta is charging. So they know that most people will want the 512GB model, and they're gouging on the upgrade so they can advertise the Quest 3 at $500, when it's really a $650 headset. And then they have the nerve to still include that garbage headstrap on the 512GB model, and then charge you $70 so that you can wear it for more than an hour, so now it's a $720 headset that they're advertising for $500.
6:04 Honestly the vast majority of the over a dozen launch Quest 3 games are MR and sinse my playspace is long and not wide and cluttered... So the MR broke a bit due to the fact you can't put real things in front of the virtual elemnts. But once I settled in it honestly worked perfectly far better then Wii sports at launch of the wii and the kentic did with games on Xbox 360... Yes not as nice as 3DS AR games or poekmon Go... But man is it a system seller... But yeah I did play and scan in a room with 6 daytime LED bulbs and a blue LED bulb and a warm light strip... So I'll need to test in conditions the trackinvg and MR home elements work in to see if I can play in the dark... But yeah it should get btter inn time as the heardwear is there just meta makes weird design decistions.
TL;DW: No problem with the headset. It's basically 10 minutes of straight praises, followed by a good PCVR-only alternative, and the conclusion that he only sends back his 128gb version to buy the 512gb version, since he has run out of space. That's it basically.
Maybe it's a head shape thing but I think the stock strap and interface are crazy uncomfortable. It gives me a headache and I've practically never had that problem.
That’s a shame. I do think a softer facial interface will help people who don’t find it comfortable and with the amount of people saying that, there will be lots of companies working to make the best replacement.
Do u really have edge to edge clarity? Because I do not! I just returned my 5th quest 3 because all of the units I got had a darkening around the right and left edges, reducing clarity. Also go into the bubbles Home Screen and there is definitely mura in my lenses. You don’t have that on yours?
Got 128 GB I have psvr2 and play pcvr I can load a few games at a time and delete them and load other ones I want to play. I just spent 600 + for psvr2 I can't justify spending another 700.00 for another headset 6 months apart so I got the psvr2 and the cheaper Quest 3 I got a life like fixing up my house, so think 128gb will be fine.
It’s fine, it would have been great to get a decent uplift on the last gen. But I can absolutely get by with what we have. The downside of a much larger unit could be worse. And I’m happy using a battery pack or a link cable if I need some extended usuage.
How would you compare visual quality with the G2? I want to play simracing titles on PC but i also want decent tracking for other games. Are q3 visulas on par with g2 if i run mid spec hardware?
I have a 512GB ordered since launch, but they are on back order in Sweden. 😔 I already have 350GB worth of games, so anything less than 512GB is a no brainer.
Wifi6E router, Quest 3 setup has been great for wireless PCVR. I could care less about augmented reality or standalone quest games. The easy sweet spot has been a joy but even with the elite headstrap, I still feel achiness on my forehead. Going to stay open to more comfortable solutions
I think the Elite Strap is fine, what you need is a better facial interface. That's what makes a headset comfortable. (at least in my and many others opinions) Im waiting for VRCover to make a facial interface replacement with PU Leather. I have the Elite Strap as well and its perfectly fine, its the fabric of the interface thats not comfortable imo
@Yucci looks like VR Cover is all sold out of the fabric cover. But I want a pleather cushion instead tjat replaced the original cushion, that was what was comfortable for me on my Quest 2.
@@meejmuas8686 yeah that’s what I mean. The PU Leather facial interface from VRCover, not their covers. (Despite the name lol) I’ll be waiting for them to drop, hopefully it’s soon tho. :0
I have psvr2 and quest 3 and i will have to agree to disagree on games looking better on quest 3 unless running pcvr. Plus the popping colors and true blacks sets psvr2 above at this point.
Great video as for me the 128GB is fine not great but fine as I plan on keeping only the mR stuff it and using PCVR for the rest... Which much to me surprise the quest 3 screen recording files are only 8GB at 1080p 30hz for an hour... So yeah it's fine but really even if the quest 3 got to over $1K it still beats the beyond and aero in value... You get controllers, hand tracking and insideout tracking. Which the beyond is just a headset and you'll need to buy a vaulve/HTC base station to work if not controllers too... So the uest 3 is still reall good and the only reason to get the others is vsiauls as they are better.
Thanks! I was also impressed how much video recording could be stored. Definitely hard to argue against good value even with the higher price this generation.
Idk what kind of Armor you have on your face.. But the Face pad jabs into my forehead and cheeks.. Its not comfortable after about 25min. For it to be reasonable you have to wear it just tight enough or you start to feel pain if you have it just slightly to tight.
It must be a head shape thing as I really find it to be a nice fit. I will be looking to get a different pad at some point though as I don’t think these stock foam pads can be very hygienic, maybe that will change the experience a bit.
I'm loving my Q3, the MR is nice but not really for me, the 128 model does not makes sense for me, it should have been 256 or 512, personally I went for the 512 as I like to keep movies and games on the headset, for me the lenses and upscaled graphics are very welcome, the improved PCVR performance is also great (mind you I upgraded my PC just before I got my Q3 so it could be that 😁😁😁), overall I'm very happy, the downside for me is awaiting beat saber modding to be fixed, installed lambda 1 vr, Zdoon VR, Prey Vr and Doon 3 for quest and they work beautifully, I'm not sure if Peaky Blinders had an upgrade, but it certainly seems nicer, I'll pop on the Q2 when I get chance to compare, Dead Hook also feels faster and smoother, mind you my 256Q2 only had about 30Gb space left so that might be a factor .... 🤣🤣🤣🤣The fov certainly seems quite a bit wider to me as well, couldn't be happier myself, but everyone's experience differs, I see some who say the fov is no different, others are not as wowed with it as myself, either way it's all good, playing through Asgards wrath at the moment and having a blast, now I still love my Q2 and rift-s as they are still very capable headsets, the rate the tech is evolving is phenomenal, I can only imagine what the future holds. 👍👍👍👍👍 For newcomers to VR I'd recommend the Q2 for the price point, it's still an amazing device and less of a loss if vr isn't for them.
Interesting. I am for the first time in a while, at a loss for what to recommend for newcomers. The Quest 2 is a great price but it feels hard to reccomend over the 3; though the 3 now feels a slightly higher price than you can easily reccomend to someone who isn’t yet sold on the medium. Maybe a used quest 2 while there are so many being sold on.
I was SUPER disapointed with the pass through. Its super grainy even in the day time. If your gonna force this tech down our throats, at least have it in the area of consumer ready
Be sure to use bright lights. Don't rely on your eyes, if it's grainy, it's still too dark. Having daylight coming from a window is still not enough because it casts a lot of shadows anyway. Especially if you got lots of dark-colored surfaces the auto-exposure of the Quest will try to raise ISO anyway and make things grainy. I use a strong LED light to light my room and the passthrough is quite amazing with it. Unfortunately, we can't expect full-frame sensor capabilities in such tiny sensors. AI might help a lot though and Meta is throwing billions towards it so we might end up with some sort of magic denoiser/upscaling algorithm in the future that will make things much better without requiring new hardware.
Imnot interested in mobile games for Q3 except for a couple of upcoming big titles such as Assasin/ Maskarad/Asgard 2. So 128gb is enough for me and i never play 2+ games at the same time. Im going to use Q3 mostly for PCVR and some media(youtube.3d movies.browsing) But i think for PCVR you need a dedicated PC Headset and would like to buy in the fututre the Beyond or upcoming the Somnium for these purposes.
Did you pick up the Quest 3? if so what do you think? Does it live up to your expectations?

I will be looking to get a different pad at some point though as I don’t think these stock foam pads can be very hygienic, maybe that will change the experience a bit.
quest 3 gang -->
I’d wait until games aren’t compatible with the 2, like the 1 was.
👍👍👍👍👍
For newcomers to VR I'd recommend the Q2 for the price point, it's still an amazing device and less of a loss if vr isn't for them.
Interesting, I think it’s a decent upgrade from what was in q2 but do think it’s too grainy for the mixed reality experiences to ever feel natural.
Thats a great responce@@Requiemes
CLICK BAIT !!!! BOO !!!!!!
😄👌
Lol clickbait title. First Encounters worked great for me, MR needs more content though.
*Promo sm* 😌
click bait title.. hes literally sending it back to get higher storage version lol... easy dislike
Imnot interested in mobile games for Q3 except for a couple of upcoming big titles such as Assasin/ Maskarad/Asgard 2. So 128gb is enough for me and i never play 2+ games at the same time. Im going to use Q3 mostly for PCVR and some media(youtube.3d movies.browsing)
But i think for PCVR you need a dedicated PC Headset and would like to buy in the fututre the Beyond or upcoming the Somnium for these purposes.
