Something interesting I've found about the Rhynio is that while flying, it has a MASSIVELY reduced attack rate, but also an absurdly good attack hitbox. The DPS in the air is probably a third of what it is on the ground, but the Rhynio attacks so far below it that you can just hover over anything that doesn't have a ranged attack and beat it to a pulp
Wow, really good point. I didn't realize it was such a difference since during testing vs the wyvern I had to chase the target a lot, so I couldn't land multiple hits anyways. I did noticed the AOE, and it's really good, just as you said..
The Rhyniognatha did just get a speed nerf.

I really like this versus series, could you perhaps do a video on Thylacoleo vs Deinonychus? They are both relatively small highly mobile critters with amazing damage potential and bleed attacks. Me and my friend go back and forth on which is generally better and I’d like to know what your thoughts on the matter are.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit jealous that I didn't come up with this comparison. It's a sick idea, and I can really see the similarities between the two. @@SpartacusSurvives In case you do Thyla vs Deino, you might wanna consider putting vs Ravager in aswell since they also have bleed attacks and pack boost like deino.

The ryhnio wins in pvp in a 1v1 against wverns every time, the wyvern turning is so bad that the rhynio can just fly behind them and attack them without taking any damage

4 PvP why would you use a lightning wyvern? the lightning wyvern is for pve. void wyvern how ever is the best 4 PvP 4 dismount. the ryno is kinda useless in pve. unless you need a flyer who can pick up crap 4 you and trap tames with a grab but still more useful in PvP. not so much in pve. mainly bc a gigs or char car be better to killing dino 4 meat and etc.
Rhynio has yet another advantage over wyverns in that it’s ranged attacks can freeze creatures in resin. For land and marine creatures that means no evasion, no running away. For flying creatures, including the wyvern, it also means they drop out of the sky immediately. Their evasiveness is also a boon: their mobility makes them excellent hit-and-run skirmishers. Mine was born around lv55 and I managed to kill a charchar by swooping in from the back or sides, slashing and backing away before it could bite.
I also would contest the idea that the rhynio is a late-game mount. Even a low-level one can be a massive advantage to basically anyone thanks to their ability to pick anything smaller than a giga and the fact that you can use weapons from their back: even a solo rider can pick and KO a max level rex or spino without need of a taming pen. I got two 135s by getting them to the point of torpor running and then picking and finishing the job so they fall where I want, and then make quetz taming for airborne bases a breeze.
the only thing I wish was different about the rhynio is the sound effect for the wings, I feel like they are way too quiet for how huge the creature is. Otherwise I really like the rhynio and even the level ~25 I've tamed in multiplayer is incredibly useful.
Yeah, thanks to those base stats it can be increadible around the base, even at the low levels.
I wouldn't mind if they were a little louder, but if they were much louder, I feel they would get annoying after a while

Tbh its a bug that can pick up a rex spino paracer can slow down dinos you can get it in kinda mid game but it saddle is uhhh y know
it can fly sideways wich is cool but i gotta say her stats are not the brightest (i know you can get good stat with luck) and well she can help to trap some big dinos and it have two seats she can walk on water and dive
I am sure that whyvrin are easier to get (kinda hard to get if you are not ready) but you can get it easily if you're prepared there're kinda simple to raise but if you got one then you can get the rest easily the breath attack is good all of them are goog so its a hard choice overall its your choice anyway

I feel like the base stats are good. I don't play PvP, but I think PvP breeders should love the rhynio since they can use their super bred and mutated Giga's/Carchar's to get awesome stats really fast on them.

The other fact that makes rhinyos better is that they can inherit the stat mutations of their parents, which makes possible getting op stats without losing another 2 weeks of nonstop breeding

Hey, great Video. would it be worth mentioning that you can use a faby or tel bow from the Rhynio? Wouldn‘t that, paired with its mobility, make it way more viable for open world pvp than the wyverns? (What are we calling the Rhynio anyway? Sounds a too close like Rhino, doesn‘t it?)
Well I believe it depends on the situation if it's better or not. But overall, it is a great PVP choice.

The Rhynio is by far better than the Wyvern in a PvP situation even against the Lightning Wyvern. Against a Wyvern the Rhynio can out maneuver the Wyvern since they have a huge turn radius and the Rhynio can pivot on the spot to aim it's homing missiles to slow the Wyvern down before shooting the pin needle resin to add resin stacks and completely immobilize the Wyvern. Just thought I'd throw that out there. I have more to say but for now I'll leave it at that and not give a 10 page explaination (I'm over exaggerating that 🤣)
This specific scenario needs more testing. The needle doesn't apply resin debuff. I'm not gonna go into details, since I will make a video on this specific situation.

Is Rhyniognatha better than desmodus for air pvps? I know they are fast but they cant attack while grabbing and cant dive like griffin
Is the desmodus really that good for PvP fights? I think it has other main uses.
You should make them fight at the end both at base lvl 1 with a lightning wyvren since it is arguably the strongest type of wyvren. Good Video though

To me Rhyniognatha is like a direct upgrade to Argentavis. It's usefulness is unmatched. Comparing wyvern to rhyniognatha is like comparing a cow to a horse, quite the difference because of how they are used, but both still very very useful.
Except the argy saddle is a portable smithy something that rhynio doesn't have.
@@Shanepex I'm not sure if that's the main selling point for Argi, i almost never use it myself and even if i need something like that i would probably bring Castoroides in Cryopod. You could ask why castorides - because bringing argentavis would be redundant when you already have rhyniognatha. But that doesn't even matter when comparing rhyniognatha to wyvern since wyvern do not have smithy either. You know what's funny? With rhyniognatha you can even bring a regular smithy with you :D
@Marine3D yeah but for beginners features like that would be helpful and less resource consuming because truth be told rhynio is a endgame tame and it's way easier to get a argy opposed to the flying reaper anyday.
@@Shanepex That's what i said, rhyniognatha is an upgrade to an argi hence you will use argi first and later you will breed rhyniognatha and your argi retires. I never said that rhyniognatha replaces argi from the start. You still need to reach lvl 90 to even ride that thing and lvl 90 means you are probably in end game (at least on Island).
Yeah, thy rhynio feels like a replacement for the argy in late game, especially for the big tribes., that need a lot more resources. the only problem is that it comes very late, and by that point is no longer a necessity like the argent is during mid game.

Here is the biggest difference. Rhinio can carry mutations and REALLY high stats and can get close to level cap if you focus on 2 stats and 3 if you are lucky and have a good Rhinio breeding setup. This makes a huge difference because Wyverns as cool as they are can't breed. You always have to find wild eggs and rely on RNG heavily. Rhinio however requires much more work because you need a large creature with good mutations and considering mutation stacking is so slow in official having a top tier Rhinio is very very hard. Once you have it tho it is not the sky giga. It is body sky and water giga. It can hold its own against beasts like wild mosasaurs even though it is imo not meant to be.
Wyvern is only slightly better at ranged damage but here is the catch Rhinio can tank better and doesn't require as good of an aim and it doesn't consume stamina as bad in combat so in PVP Rhinio riders who used mutated stat gigas brontos or carchs will beat wyverns, In pve the sheer utility difference would be enough to make Rhinio a better choice.
Here is the biggest catch tho. Even a low level Rhino is as valuable as a high level Wyvern because you can just take it to egg hunting and out speed wyverns and getting a low level one is not that difficult all things considered.
You can breed wyvern. The last statement, though, it's spot on.

Sorry to keep hijacking your comments but it seem people are interested in info here. So we attempted to Clone a 112 last night on official. 64k shards to clone. Cap for a cloning chamber on official is 48k so currently you can not clone one at this level. I Have yet to look at the cloning calculator to see how low a level you would have breed to be able to clone it but I imagine it would need to be very low level.
No worries. I love seeing input form people that actually play official pvp and breed for stats. I don't play pvp, so seeing a different perspective and experience from someone that does play pvp really helps.

You will Also Never be able to breed Ryhno to the level of of the wyvern stat wise. even a max level 150 ryhno can never be spawned at the 377 cap and stat capped like a wyven. On official it will never out damage the Ember or lightning. The rhyno is a Amazing PVP and Utility animal.
That weight stat and carry ability are sooo goood for taming new creatures and gathering resources.
you can though, if you get a super bred giga, with full mutations and everything, you can get way higher stats then wyverns, its just alot more work and resource heavy, but if you do it, you get an unstopable bug
@@unknownunknown-cd7rx doesn't matter. Your Normal super bred Giga caps at 450 it can still never reach the Max Melee, Health, Stamina and weight of a X or R animal that can have a base total of 500. I am A breeder who is already Breeding Super X rexs with these stats that as Eggs hatch as 460s with capped Melee, Health and near capped stam. NO giga can approach that other than a R giga and it is much easier to achieve this with Rexes. We have Already started to Breed these bugs with these rexes. BTW this is all on official servers. even if you breed a capped 500 point from the egg X or R animal it will still never come out as strong as a perfect bred wyvern because the top level of the rhyno is 150 and it averages between the 2 roughly.

And whats the point of 460er rexes? Now you can level them only fourty times, or?
@@calgrissom9181 i was using gigas as an example, ecause the giga and the charcar thing gurantee 100% if you get all the cravings, but yes r and x variants and what not also affect the stats, as they have higher stats and stuff

Lightning wyverns breath can do such absurd damage that counting it out completely is silly, the main thing is the bug can run circles around a full size wyvern and only the tropical wyvern can outrun it and with the resin it can mob a wyvern very easily. The major thing about wyverns though is that they are far easier to mass produce, it takes a lot of work to get every single maxed out bug whereas the wyverns can be left on breed overnight and the eggs dont despawn and with how easy wyverns are to raise its just a lot easier to get a wyvern army than a Rhynio. The only two wyvern types I bother with are lightnings and tropicals, both of these two have serious advantages over the bug. Raising a Rhynio is a pain and the craving system is annoying, the worst part is that after that you cant even guarantee you get a good one since it may not inherit all the good stats from the host.
Also as an aside I haven't gotten a single female out of the 8 ive birthed so im either very unlucky or mate boost isn't an option.
Yes, mate boost is not an option, you only get males. And that's quite a big thing, since the mate boost is a good buff. I also agree with all the other stuff you said. Good points. 👍
@@SpartacusSurvives Thats good to know you only get males, I haven't been able to be 100% certain since there isnt any info I could find on that. The resin ability and saddle more than make up for no mate boost in durability but no mate boost is a big deal in the damage department, overall the bug is really good but has shortcomings that make wyvens still very useful.
yeah, I think it's best suited to be in a tank/support role, tanking damage and immobilizing creatures for the damage dealers, like the lightning wyvern.
@@SpartacusSurvives a lightning and a rhynio would be a nasty combo, I have used skiffs to immobilize things for lightnings before and its super effective. I think a rhynio may on some level be better since it can also deal damage on its own. The resin can also be used as an escape tactic and considering the weight on these guys you could get away from anyone trying to get your loot, it can even go underwater. It enables lightnings to get a full hit off more easily and id wager the bug could be oppressive when preventing escape as well.

For pvp, try the griffin vs rhynio. Griffin was king of the sky, not wyvern.

Wyverns can be mutated and rhynio cant so on official wyvern negs
technicly you can mutate the rhynio as they take the stats of your dino, so if you fully mutate a giga and fully breed the stats correctly on the giga, youll have an unstopable bug, and then you can clone that mega bug to have an army of them(yes the mutated stats of the giga dfo transfer to the rhynio)

@@Dohlenkralle the big bug, fully "mutated" imprinted, acended sadle resin armored bug would make the wyvern do like no damage, on top of being able to knock the wyvern out of the sky(plus with the rhyno you have such good control of the movment, you can easily avoid the lightning breth while shooting), plus the rhynio can have 2 riders, so while 1 person is controlling the rhyino, another player can sit on the back of the rhynio and shoot the wyvern, so you have 2 attackers the rhynio and someone riding the wyhnio with you
I think this needs some testing. I agree with some points and I disagree with others.
