    Loving every inch of Scotland. Once lived there and I left my heart there. The best time to visit for me is mid May to June and early September.

      I agree with you. May, June and September (preferably early Sept) are the best times to visit - fewer people and potentially better weather.

    I've always wanted to see the Outer Hebrides, and the Orkneys and the Shetlands. Other than vast sandy beaches, the landscape is identical to where I live, Newfoundland. I want to take a vacation to go somewhere that looks exactly like where I live...daft, I know... Great video. thanks for posting it.

    Great video & good research! However, you’ve missed soooo much of Lewis. Sea stacks, more beaches than Harris and island lagoons plus with the poorer infrastructure in the smaller islands it would be worth offering more on Lewis next time maybe? Excellent video though, more of the same please! 😊

    I went to Skye for the first time in 1996 and unfortunately there are a lot more people visiting the island now. It has lost some of its magic but it is still a wonderful place.

    One of the best guides to the western isles, outer Hebrides. But...what would really have helped 200% is a MAP so we could chart the journey and get some idea of distances!

  • @greigmartin4339

    great video. never been there but always wanted to go. hopefully sometime soon eh. point taken about over tourism. i pulled back from going to skye for the first time last year when the lockdown relaxed - heard so many stories of over congestion at places like storr, the quiriang and fairy pools and it put me right off. always fancied the outer hebrides - idyllic seems the perfect word. tiree also would be a nice spot to spend a week or two in the summer months id bet.

    • @scotlanders2612
      @scotlanders2612  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes those spots on Skye often have severe overtourism issues, parts of the NC500 too. Outer Hebs less so but it's precarious and wouldn't take much for it to become a big issue. And yes! Tiree, Coll, Mull, Iona, Islay etc etc all worth a visit 😁. Happy travels when they come!

  • @Trevor_J_Neville

    Based on your video I think I’ve found the destination for my motorcycle tour next year, my mates have just got back from doing the NC500 that I planned for us but ended up not going due to a disagreement with a 2lb hammer and my left hand 🤦🏻‍♂️ last week. So many beautiful places to visit in Scotland and not enough spare time to see them all in one go lol

    Great video, thanks for sharing your passion for your home region! We're considering a Skye and Hebrides road trip in September this year. We found this really informative and heed your tips at the end too. I guess with travel now opened up again the area is now busy again, but what's your view on September as a time to visit? Thanks, Mac & Sarah

    • @scotlanders2612
      @scotlanders2612  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi guys. Yes extremely busy this year and ferries struggling to cope I hear. Generally though September is an excellent bet in Scotland, with fairly steady weather, long days and midges reducing. Just be warned that many others will be thinking exactly the same thing 😉

    Thank you for a great tour of the Outer Hebrides. These islands are so beautiful and I've always wanted to visit one day. If I could ask for your advice, what would be your recommendations if I get the chance for a short, 2 day trip? I know that's not nearly enough time, but even a short visit is better than none.

    • @scotlanders2612
      @scotlanders2612  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Depends largely on your start and end points on the mainland. If you're in the Inverness area, head to Ullapool and spend the time on Lewis and Harris. If further south then you could get a 5 hour ferry from Oban to Barra then spend the time on Barra and Vatersay, maybe get a boat out to Mingulay even. If doing the former you'd need a car, hiring a bike would do for the latter 👍
