    Our few days on Uist were such a highlight of our Outer Hebrides trip, exploring places we hadn't made it to on our previous visits to the island and catching up with friends to swim, drink gin, and try out cockling for the first time! This latest film is probably our favourite in the series so far and we hope you enjoy it too : ) Kim & Del

    My brother and I saw the short ear owls on South Uist in September. Amazing to see so close. We did a tour of Outer Hebrides from Barra to Stornoway in Land rover defender and two dogs. Brilliant.

      They are great, aren’t they!? It’s a fantastic trip going south to north, made all the better with dogs for company and a Land rover to drive no doubt 😃

    Like the way you went from the noise of the ferry to complete silence at 2:06. Nice editing and very effective. I would love to travel to that area and Northern Scotland in general (from Canada). Maybe 2023

    Watching this on our new TV ... Wow it's like a test video for 4k 🤣👍🏻 amazing work guys. I'm blown away by how stunning the islands are up there and by the effort you put in to show them in all their glory.

    Beautiful video, and a fun chat during the second half. My favorites were the ponies, the beaches, and the thatch roof close-up of the stone weights. Looking forward to Callanish!

I hope one day to get to the Hebrides and I'll surely be rewatching your videos and using your links to get myself a headstart on how to make the most of the visit.

    We had an amazing holiday on Mull after seeing your film and now we're already planning a tour of the Outer Hebrides. Compliments as always on fabulous videography and the in depth trip info chat at the the end, very helpful.
    Looking forward to the Harris and Lewis episode. Many thanks, Simon & Alison

    Wow - it feels like we've been transported back to this summer and Uist while watching this. So beautifully filmed and edited! And you're right - you must have been just a few days behind us, and we went to so many similar places! What a place!

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The highlight of our summer, for sure! Uist really surprised us, we'd definitely love to return and explore more. It was the same when I watched your film, it took me back and it was cool seeing the same places through your lens. You guys had some great beach-side park ups there! Kim : )

  • @juliefahy

    Beautiful as always. It makes me want to pack my bags this second and come back to Scotland!
    The drone shots are absolutely mesmerising -- and it suits Uist so well, with its incredible mosaic of land and sea.
    I was coming to the same conclusion that the armchair was preventing Dev from playing the bagpipes... And maybe a beer in hand also helps! 😅
    Looking forward to the next film!

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha Julie, you’re right I think! I (Del) definitely felt comfortable in that chair and a beer in hand always helps 😉.
      Really glad you enjoyed it, and yes that combination of land, sea and little lochans is a delight from the air. Thanks again!

    Great video and youtube channel, thanks for posting this informative and educational primer on a visit to the Outer Hebrides. We have a trip planned this year in June and will will review this video again and again to better prepare for our trip. And per some previous comments, the video/drone work and photography are well done.

    Relaxing comes to mind. Nice videos. Just spent two weeks in Scotland and absolutely loved it. We do a lot of hiking and spent a bunch of time in the Highlands and Isle of Skye. Unfortunately, we just couldn't get to the Outer Hebrides due to time. Next time! Keep up the great work.

      @@robinsavard84 nice! Well the east coast definitely has some amazing spots, generally speaking not quite as dramatic as the west though, so it feels like a very different landscape!

    Another great video. Thank you. Can i ask, do you get midges on North Uist?

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks very much. Yes, you do get midges there and throughout the Outer Hebrides. We were there at the start of June so they hadn’t really got going. We went up to Harris after this and had one morning when they were quite bad, but then the storm came and no more midges 😂

    Hi Andrew, we are coming up to Harris and Lewis next month on a photo workshop, we are really looking forward to visiting the islands again. Andrew can I ask you do you regular move away from your desk when working as I have been told you must refocus your eyes regularly away from the screen. I had a window to gaze out of to help with this though it looks as though you don’t. This coukd be something else to help with migraines.

    Was on Eriskay and the Uists in September for a period.
    Never exactly found the Eriskay or South Uist people particularly welcoming to visitors but noticeable difference with the locals up in North Uist who were very chatty. Quite strange to experience.

    • @GoingTheWholeHogg
      @GoingTheWholeHogg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s interesting, we definitely never experienced anything quite like that on our trips. We have quite a few friends in North Uist and everyone is certainly very friendly there. I suppose it can just depend on the experience you have at the time.

    • @Hundredakerwood439
      @Hundredakerwood439 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Going The Whole Hogg | Kim & Del
      We suspected two reasons at the time, the appalling Ferry situation for the South Uist people that has been on-going and also our English accents that appeared to go down like a lead balloon . Just a theory though.

    • @Sabhail_ar_Alba
      @Sabhail_ar_Alba 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally haven't noticed any difference but everywhere south of Benbecula is Catholic while everywhere north is Protestant. I certainly noticed a
      slight difference in the people Leverburgh ("Wee Free" country) compared to Lochboisdale.
