I swapped my battery today following this. It's a great, clear set of instructions. I neglected to unlock the car using the keycard button initially, so the alarm went off as soon as I disconnected the negative terminal. But I got there in the end. Thanks.

Thanks for a great video. As others have said, you've made everything extremely clear, both in terms of sensible and relevant camera angles and also really helpful commentary ... both of which are sadly all too often lacking in such videos! Extra insights into how to manage specific quirks of each fitting, which tools might work best in those awkward angles etc. are all extremely helpful. When so many manufacturers seem to be making otherwise simple tasks (such as changing a battery) as difficult and inaccessible as possible these days (🤑🤑!) videos like this are fab ... Thank you!

My battery coming up to 9 years showed low battery recharge today when the headlights decided to stay on with engine off for about 20mins. 12.58V DC engine off, 14V DC engine on. Probably need to replace.

This is the best tutorial video I have seen for years! Well worth watching, crystal clear instructions and pointing out things and procedures to look out for.(like the advice about the deep 10 m/m socket needed for the positive terminal) - if your like me - I normally come across these awkward to reach nuts and then spend half an hour hunting for the correct tool👿 (which delays the job.) - Forewarned is forearmed.
one minor criticism(no way intended to be rude) - is that the focus on the camera at times was not great(but as a budding camcorder enthusiast - I know how difficult getting the correct focus all of the time can be!)
Will try and purchase a battery terminal cleaning tool as well!

Nice tidy installation! I use AGM batteries even if my car doesn't have start-stop function for it's better performance and not giving of gases that will cause corrosion. It costs a bit more but if you love your car it's worth it.

    • @SocketsAndSideburns

Disconnecting the battery should always trigger this message, did you cycle through the messages as sometimes it is hidden by other messages if you have other faults? Did you use a memory saver when changing the battery? If you did then the car wont realise the battery has been changed.
Also there is a fuse for the BCM on the back of the battery tray 5amp I think that can blow. Its hidden behind a rubber cover.

I'm afraid you will need a diagnostic tool that can talk to the EPB control unit in order to see what code has been set. I have made a video on replacing the motor if it turns out to be that causing the problem. You can diagnose that issue without a code reader which I explain how to do in the video. You will need one to reset any parking brake faults though.

What code reader are you using? A simple OBD2 reader will not communicate with the parking brake computer which is different to the engine computer (ECU). Did you place the rear brakes into maintenance mode before changing the pads?
