I love the fixed carry handle and classic furniture. The skinny CAR hand guard feels amazing when shooting, fits just right. My first ever rifle was something like this, albeit a Californized monstrosity with 16 inch barrel, Carbine gas system, A2 stock, PT Gunworks muzzle brake (copy of LanTac Dragon) and a chopped pistol grip. Miss that thing, put 6000 rounds through it, lost my job and sold the whole thing for $400 😂 I love my LWRC DI but nothing beats the old school rifles.
Back when I felt a growing desire to build one since late 2019, I was surprised by how quickly the trend caught on. With my own completed nearly a year ago, I would agree that the biggest hurtle is getting that sight picture when bracing against objects. Its deceptive how easily the top-heavy gun likes to roll. As my first 10.3" AR, it seems the shorter the barrel the more a full-size suppressor makes a difference. I opted to mount a 7.5" .30 cal suppressor which serves to balance out the carbine nicely at a reasonable length, subdues the sharp recoil impulse into a gentle push, comfortably suppresses the gunshot, and virtually eliminates the concussive shockwave. The combination of optic, light, and suppressor make for a slick carbine that feels right at home for a retro 'special forces' role. The beauty of this build is twofold when its simplicity encourages the user to experiment with field-expedient modifications and its rugged construction encourages the occasional dirt and scratches garnered from running it as intended.
Great video man. Shooting my retro build often has made firearms with a normal height over bore seem odd. I also run a RMR on top of an ACOG and that RMR lines up similar to my Aimpoint 3000 on the fixed carry handle. So the RMR acts as a primary optic to the ACOG more times than not which is ass backward haha. These CAR-15s are so freaking light to use too. Carry around a rifle with a DD RISii Rail then go to a CAR-15 and it’s hard to believe they are both AR-15s in the same caliber.
Kudos for the great start into youtube land! Retro is the new cool for sure. Curious about the course you were running drills at? USPSA event? If you can start releasing content on a regular basis, no doubt you will make a splash. Oh and you forgot the extra research info in the comments HAHA.
Liked, commented, subbed. Give us more. Can we see some AK action ? Maybe running ak-47 thru same obstacle course, mud and all. Minimal furniture. If anything, maybe dress it up as whatever soviets used in Afghanistan in 80's. Or viet-kong version , ... to be consistent with jungle warfare theme. And thank you for production quality. What a pleasant watch.
Almost done building mine. Now I just have to find a damn A2/A1 fixed carry handle. Edit: Finally found a A2 upper, pricey but a long awaited purchase.
Awesome. Where do you go to shoot those stages ? I've been doing USPSA pistol at my local range for a few months but have been wanting to get into shooting rifle stages
Don't believe there is any major discernible difference. From what I can tell (without purchasing) the Doublestar appears to be a quality alternative option.
Hit markers had me chuckling
Thank you!

I’m doing a 90’s PLA themed T97. Red dot on the carry handle, bullpup 556, so much fun!
wish we could get those in the US. I wasn't aware the PLA utilized red dots in the 90s.
Excellent vid.

Thank you for the kind words. Footage was captured at a carbine USPSA style match, more in bound next week.
This is at Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club (CFRPC), specifically the Carbine match discipline called Central Florida Carbine.
Good job 👏 your channel is new with high potential
Thank you, much appreciated!

Great stuff man from a fan in the UK
Almost done building mine. Now I just have to find a damn A2/A1 fixed carry handle.

I think they have them
Congrats on finding your A2 upper. Enjoy your build!
Great video
Thank you!
This is sick man
Thank you!
Simplicity at its best. How long are your barrel and flash hider?
WHERE THE HECK DID YOU FIND A C7 UPPER IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR ONE FOR 2 YEARS NOW TO BUILD ONE OF THESE!
Found one on TacSwap.
tony's customs has a 16" xm177 barrel that works pretty good. Got one on my xm177 clone.
Edit: out of stock as of now.

The Doublestar vs the Brownell's..what's the difference?
Don't believe there is any major discernible difference. From what I can tell (without purchasing) the Doublestar appears to be a quality alternative option.
I've been trying to find an authentic mount but I'm just gonna settle for an amazon one
If you end up sourcing an authentic mount let us know in the comments.
@@OperatorClassified I DO have an authentic ARMS mount but it's long and probably meant for an AR-10 size carry handle
admin results entered the chat
where did you get the upper ?
The upper was sourced via Tacswap.
MAC V SOG
