The man is back!
Slade does such a good job framing his solutions. Instead of saying “this is the best way to setup your weapon and the guys that do it any other way are old school” or “other guys like to do this way but here’s how you should be doing it” he says “this is how I like to setup my sling and here’s why, I’ve found the other ways don’t work for me and here’s why” or “some guys prefer to run it a different way but this is how I like to run it for me”. He talks about what works for HIM and doesn’t put down other guys for doing things differently. He doesn’t disrespect others ideas or methods, something that’s a big problem in the gun community. Ultimately we are here to see what HE likes so we can see if it works for ourselves, not for him to tell us what we should or shouldn’t do, or for him to put down others for doing things differently than him.

Yeah dude I’ve trained Japanese martial arts for over 25 years and he moves like a high level martial artist, smooth in the flow state. It’s beautiful, a well refined art. Man I’d love to take a course.
When you were active, were you able to choose your preferred trigger, optics and risers for a particular mission? Also, how long did it take for guys to accept the high rise setups?
I ran my optic as high as was available at the time which was 1.93” with a T2 and scalar works mount. Individual shooters choice on how they set their weapons systems up. Triggers have to be approved.
I like when he says stuff like "...where I used to work" instead of always naming his old unit. He knows that we all know where he used to work and he still chooses to be professional. Even when he mentions it he is just matter of fact instead of making sure everyone knows. Solid

Love these build vids from legit warfighters, that have the experience, training and common sense to know what works, more importantly why it works... and what doesn't work. As a civilian, your words carry a lot of weight because of all that knowledge. My preferences in building an AR have definitely shifted pretty massively over the past 5 years or so. I used to be a big fan of co-witness red dots, and running a fixed front sight post too. For whatever reason, I really just liked that sight picture of having the dot sitting right on the tip of the front post. Since then I've gone away from that to a more heads-up shooting style with the scalar-works 1.93" mount, no more fixed front sight either. That has definitely been the biggest change for me, going to a more heads-up shooting posture. It took some time to adjust to the taller height over bore, learning my holds, but in the long run it's been a benefit to my shooting, and my overall comfortability as well. I'm not hunched over and having to hunt around for my sights.
That cheek riser piece looks really intriguing though. I dig it. Great video. Thanks for what you do.

Stopped this vid min run, walk to the safe, pull out the ready-carbine and switched the stock end sling mount to the strong side of the stock and did a few ready-ups. Well, glad that's sorted.
Didn't catch the sarcasm in the first minute thirty seconds and in that time I sold my entire collection and ordered a boatload of whypoints to replace everything... I may be hosed. Thanks.

Hey Slade, thanks for all of the information that youve been providing to the community. Ive definitely seen a major improvement on my gear and shooting setup. I am curious though, what CGS can are you currently running? It looks slightly different than the Helios cans that they currently have out now. Its it Inconel or Ti? I like the idea of a lightweight Ti can, but the Ti sparking is really irking me since flash suppression is high on my priority list.

how do you feel about the new Helios being 3d printed TI instead of inconel?

It’s available in TI and Inconel. TI is half the weight of inconel, but it will spark on gas guns.

Slade would using a VLTOR A5 system with your upper (11.5 mid) give any benefit over a regular carbine buffer system? Does it make it even softer shooting?
