The way you look at the gun and remember the details from the places you've been just look inspiring and humbling
Darryl Damaso I do that with my fave hunting rifle. Customized rem 700 in .300win mag. Look and hold it and certain parts of it takes me back to where I nailed a hog or that deer just any game really.
You can tell he sees memories looking at that gun. Love his approach. Simple and stupid lol
You can’t take personal weapons over seas
You can see it in his eyes
There’s a certain irony to watching an actual warrior rolling with a pretty simple set up. I love it, thanks for your service
Actual warrior don't need no gun for entertainment
In Ranger Batt, he would have had a laser, flashlight and optic. Little bit more complex than his setup here
Try aiming under night vision without an IR laser/Illuminator.
Regular soldiers don't pick and choose what goes on their rifle
all I need is a hammer
I love the fact that he's using an old, simple, straight forward AR without the bells and whistles. This is enough to inoculate someone from marketing gimmicks. The whole 2A community should see this video.
lol shut up. there’s a reason all the major units are using rifles and attachments light years ahead of this garbage rifle. try again
He's doing it for the article. I doubt he has just one rifle that he continuously uses considering there are numerous other videos of him shooting different rifles.
its no different than 99% of ars out there, probably more done up that most of them. most guys are just going to have a red dot and some backup irons lol
Basic ARs have been serving tier 1-3 groups for decades. All that other crap are just a bunch of chads selling equipment for more chads. If you ever served time or have done contracting work, simple is key.
BCM MK2 uppers come to mind…..
I love my Bushmaster. Never had any issues. Got a swampfox arrowhead 1-6 on it. Great gun.
Bushmaster is legit
Ive always been an AK guy but what i love about ARs is you can start with a $500 rifle and as long as you get something with a good barrel just upgrade your internals until you have something really nice
"This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine."
Alex Harter oh stfu and sit the fuck down w all that full metal jacket bull shit
Mic Chhouy it's part of the rifleman's creed...
Steeeve Maaadden stfu bitch
Mic Chhouy it's the riflemens creed dumbshit...every marine has to recite this.
Yes it is, however Tanto was not a Marine he was an Army Ranger
anybody else notice those r the same shorts his character had on in 13 HOURS ......"u gonna fight the holy war in shorts" lol
Hey Murphj88 :D
AtticWarrior1994 I don’t get why that movie was slated watched it in the UK and loved that movie
james lyddall watched it yesterday, i’m scottish, not got much love for americans these days there all weird, but i got all tears eyed and full of pride watching that movie, love these fuckers.
NaeNameYaBam why we weird all of a sudden lol
Mr Fearful he's not wrong. He probably sees all the gender fluid freaky shit from us
No matter how many times I watch this video I keep coming back to it for some reason.
me to
Me as well
Probably, like me, as a reminder that you don't need $800 accessories to finish your rifle.
Did you get the Daniel Defense overmolded rubber grips? "Nah, cut a bicycle tire."
Did you get the Geissele trigger? "Nope."
Midwest Industries MLok rail with anti-rotation tabs?
"Mmnah, 2-piece quadrail."
This guy has been through hell and he says "my favorite rifle is basically commercial milspec with a drop-in quad rail, a foregrip, and a good red dot." Boss.
Anyone know what size tire tube fits best?
I love the look of "basic" ARs with one or two special tweaks added. Drop in rails and A2 front sights are so classic. I understand the free float rails and stuff but I like classic stuff.
Lol that 90% of my rifle basic I’m not into Mlok etc
Pinned front sight gas blocks are more reliable that low profile ones that usually just use a screw and loctite to retain themselves
They just look better to me
I met him a few years ago at SHOT. On the side in a outside area. One on one, what a real down to earth humble nice guy. I was stunned by his tone, demeanor and outward friendliness. A really good dude
You can see him reliving these memories looking at his gun.. What a solid dude.
Kris is an absolute natural in front of the camera. A really genuine mans man. Thank god there are guys like that still out there because god knows the vast majority of us wouldn't have survived the things that man has encountered.
It must be tough to commercialize the deaths of his friends.
@@CastilloinaSpeedo : The fact that you think that is what this is just tells us what an unthinking little prick you are.
@@CastilloinaSpeedohuh
I love listening to advice from a guy that knows his stuff. He’s been in the most extreme conditions, that most of us will never experience, and he knows what works.
The way a soldier who looks down on his weapon, one that he has used in life and death battles, is something I can always recognize. Check out when he first looks down and recalls it has been with him since Kabal
respect ...thank you for your service
@lucas what???
Blackwater... search "blackwater documentary" on this site.
did you pay him?
Just Ipko I mean he said thank you bc tonto was a ranger if Im not wrong lol
The nostalgia is real.... I feal ya man. I learned a lot for from my FAST company Marines in the fleet when we got down range
Sir just picked up a Surefire Picatinny rail. So worth it and simply the Best . Thank You. 🇺🇸
Where did you find it?
i trust this guys opinions over the keyboard warriors saying his guns trash.
@First Name Last Name I didn't see any drama. He went straight to the point
@First Name Last Name which part of what he said was dramatic?
I am building my first ar15. Come to find out mine is almost same as Larry Vickers rifle he used. his has scope and light but basic rifle is near same. Mine is close to xm177 with a1 fixed handle. And 16 in m4 barrel. I be keeping this one :)
Truth.....I can and would enter n clear buildings all day with that weapon system✔💯🇺🇸🍻
The tape on his foregrip has more experience in the field than almost all the keyboard warriors...let's be real about it :)
This is a real operater. You can tell because his riffle isn't fitted with a bunch of bulshit that he doesn't need.
All wars before round 1970 were fought with stock weapons
Iron sight- 2,000,000lb trigger pull, fixed stock , bolt action or 10 round mags the horrors go on...ha
People today forget.....them boys did just fine without every attachment in existence that ultimately breaks or battery goes dead in 1-2 days of use
Seen the gun channel where he shows the massive pile of attachments that he bought over the years....
And had a pile of useless junk not too long after
He said bout 6 months n they break
rawk4life93 Generally speaking, wars are fought on an equal footing, equipment-wise. the grunt with a bolt action rifle fought against other soldiers similarly equiped. (One glaring exception being the American military in WWII, who was equiped with a semiauto, compared to the other combatants, on both sides, who were issued bolt guns.)
Personally, I never understood guys who loaded all sorts of crap on their
rifles, just because they can. Thus negating one main advantage of the AR15, the light weight. I like my weapons the way I like my bike, clean. The worst offender, the idiot who put a bayonette on a PISTOL! Who thought that was a good idea?
Travis Nunley LMAO just like pulse rifles and pocket nukes. #80sfuturescenes #wheresmyhoverboard
Travis Nunley shhhhhhhhh don't tell
He's not the only real operator that doesn't have his battle rifle outfitted with a bunch of useless shit on it that just add weight.
Man this guy has a second pair of guns stashed up his sleeves, what a beast :)
I wish we could get ARs in Australia, 500 bucks wow what a dream.
@GaRdZ They're not ARs then are they smart arse
@GaRdZ Couldn't come up with anything more original?
do you get lever release ars like in england?
"freedom" fuck autralia
Move to the US brother. We'll always take Freedom loving Sheepdogs.
wish i had the stories Kris has to go along with the parts on my AR's.
I have a lot of respect for you thank you for your service.
Trust me, no you don't lol. Gunfights fucking suck ass....Been there, done that.
Then again, i dont have any of the shit i had on my rifles downrange. There is just too much stuff that is way better now lol
@DaBoogie No, They DO suck. It is exhilarating, and at times you get into it and feel pleasure, but they are NOT fun.
Im sure it is all "rather fun" when someone on your side gets hit in the fucking face. Yup, a real hoot...
I was willing to do it, and continued after the Military doing Private Contracting, but i would never say its "Rather fun".
It is crazy, and scary, and exhilarating beyond belief, and sometimes you get into it and feel a perverse pleasure at getting a chance to kill the assholes you were created to kill. It is a mixture of many things, What the hell i would call it in 1 word, i could't decide. But fun is not it lol
And yeah IED's suck ass too.
The first M16 I used in the Army was the Colt M16A1 back in 1972. The first civilian AR15 I bought is a Colt LE6920 M4 carbine. I still have this rifle and it is almost five years old.
Right on!
Infantry_11_Bravo Retired OMG 5 years that is SOOOOO LONGGGG
Colt is overpriced junk. I would take a DI LWRC over a Colt any day. I bet you would be surprised to know they outsource a good portion of their rifle to other companies.
To COD Henry R . . . Maybe junk to you... but mine work fine and had no problems with it.
Henry R if you think colt is junk then you are a moron
My Colt AR15A3-6721 bought in late 90s is set up bout the same way, same quad rail, ergo grip, aimpoint comp2, still in service today, i will never let it go!
You are the weapon....the rifle is just a tool!
I love "Frankinrifles" they reflect the resourcefulness of the mind behind them.
It is a very nice tool!
Great story...thanks!
Love the guy's resourcefulness, no-BS approach, practical mindset. Such a relief after so many theorists-turned-Gucci-gear-influencers. Great video!
coolest, down to earth no bullshit operator salute to tanto and his shorts
Double salute!!
I've had this video in my bookmarks for some time now...Probably since early 2018. Just now saw it. Its not always clear or easy to know who to thank for these things. But who ever it is at " Tactical Life " that is responsible for putting this interview with Kris Paronto together, I just wanted to say I really appreciate it. This was hands down one of the best personal "gun talk " videos that I've seen since I've been watching TH-cam, and that's over 5 years. Please pass my sincere thanks to Kris Paronto and everyone involved in making it.
That setup will never be outdated.
My first AR(have only two) was a Bushmaster 308 MOE. Flawless. Bought the M&P15 for $499 last year, and recently added Bushmaster .300 Blackout upper to it. I didn't realize Bushmaster had issues until I read some comments, but both the .308 & Blackout's been perfect so far. Not one malfunction. So cool to see Kris talk about his Bushmaster, really nice looking rifle.
Fought the holy war in shorts, still wearing shorts hahaha
Thanks for your service brother! Proud of what you did, and had to do in Benghazi. Your a real Hero brother!!
Basic optic, light, and sling will get you through most situations. Been running a simple BCM ar for years now.
One of my heroes, who's here through watching "Secret Soldiers of Benghazi"
That rifles been through some serious shit, its just about as priceless as the legend holding it
john byrne imagine if that rifle could talk.
@@notputtingmyrealnameonhere1248 if given a voice the first thing it would do is scream lol
He only took the forward grip downrange and back. The rifle was left home
Sorry, but no
B Dogg I know it’s like people don’t listen
Awesome! Sadly many police departments don't allow Frankenstien home built rifles for patrol use. They usually have to be a complete factory built rifle from a an approved list. I have a bad ass home built rifle but can't use it.
Probably varies by state. What about that officer who wasted the guy in the hotel after he failed Simon says? He had "f*** you" engraved into the ejection cover.
@@hellrazor117 I dont condone bad training. The idiots at that hotel used absolutely bad procedures. Every cop that watched that video knows they were wrong. They should be prosecuted. That being said....there are millions of public contacts with police that go well and no one knows or cares.
He couldn't use this gun overseas either. They used factory guns provided by the agency. This was just for training.
@@hellrazor117 simon say's 🤣🤣🤣🤣 tragic stuff though 😳
So if you dont like the grip....that's too bad?
God bless you man. Hearing you say "I had this in Benghazi, Libya" gave me chills.
A man talks so gently yet his some of the deadliest guys out there.
You just know you want to spend a whole evening in a nice quite pub with him just sitting back drinking beers and listening to his stories !
People like him just have a certain presence about them that the modern social media celebrity’operators’ just don’t have , it’s a sort of quiet confidence , a “I don’t really need to blow my own bugle, I’m happy in my skin” about them .
Are you gay?
Who you gonna trust? Kris "Tanto" Paranto, who's been through some real hard core shit or a so call weekend warrior who uploads videos about his look at me hi tech AR? Enough said. Respect brotha. 🇺🇲🙏
Thank you for your service, when did you go to Airborne school I went in May -15 June 15 1986 Delta company by the malt shop.
Great no BS info.....thank you for your service.
1:31he paused while saying kabul. he definitely remembered that
Big respect for this man. Thank you for your service sir.
Man brother much respect I have for you. Thank you for your service and thank you for sharing.
Thank you for your service to our great country. You truly are a hero. God bless you.
American Patriot Great country.....hahaha
Martijn Bosmans Only country I know who can rape pillage and slaughter the natives and still be viewed as the good guys so pretty great lol
Werrito Loco Pretty sure only 'Muricans find themselves to be the good guys these days 😃
Werrito Loco Didn't a Green Beret temporarily get the boot for saving a boy from being raped continually? Most men in service are men of honor and there are a few bad apples like anywhere.
ShadyGMA Just why is it the greatest country on earth? Not work-ours, healthcare, education or happyness......what's left?
Like he said “it’s not the system, it’s the person running it”.
He seems like a genuinely good guy, and humble about what he did and does now.
Goes to show, if you take care of your weapon. It takes care of you. What a humble and inspiring man. Thank you for sharing.
good stuff
Mrgunsngear Channel thanks mr clean!
You're everywhere!
captainzanzey i know right
Obviously he has a lot of familiarity with this weapon. And there is nothing more deadly than a soldier and their fateful rifle!
Dude, are you omnipresent?
Cheers sir. Thank you for your service.
that stock costs more than the rifle
the stock is a piece of crap.
Those stocks are garbage. I'd rather run the standard stock or a magpul.
Lol all u guys have tactical expensive accesories sh1t and zero skill and experience will make no sense u see.. full of tactical retards!
It's not shit... It's a fucking preference, it's only shit to you because it doesn't fit you. Just because you don't like Pepsi doesn't mean it's shit lol. Get that middle school bs out of here
grr ummmpee lol tell that to someone with experience like kris
It's always refreshing to find combat functional, non-sales, and experienced commentary from our guys at the tip of the spear. I hope he and others like him who can express themselves so well will return to the TH-cam channels to offset the Fanboys. As always thank you for your service.
Tanto You are a True American Hero Brother 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍👍👍
mauserk98bnz44 wow! he's earned 6 flag emojis and 4 thumb ups? a true hero indeed
Mason R Yes he is as are the ones who fought with him. Thanks Mason.
This is awesome, I have a Frankenstein Bushmaster that I had bought in 05 from when I came back from overseas. Granted, mine has a few different changes then his does, but like he says, it runs and I haven't any issues with mine either.
Yep, still runs great, so great my wife took it and I am thinking of getting another for her so I can have mine back.
Awesome! I bought my bushmaster ar in 2006 . They are great rifles. Never had one single issue.
Same set up in my BCM patrol rifle.. Tanto made a simple AR platform . That cool!!!
My video would be almost exactly as this one. However, it would be on my Norinco AK 56s underfolder. Been using her since the mid 80's.
I think some people missed that he said the broom handle went with him over seas. This is his training rifle. It stays in the USA.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've watched hundreds of videos of "enthusiast" spouting "this is the best, this is what you need". It's all subjective and individual based. K.I.S.S. and use what suits your needs. Hands down the best advice on the net, thanks again.👍🏿
You tube recommended this video at least 20 times. And I watched it every single time.
A no bullshit video. Love it. Ty Kris!
That tire tube idea is awesome... I’ve been stippling mine, but that looks more comfy... thanks for your service man!
good good stuff , this vid needs to go super duper viral
I appreciate he's honest about what he prefers for shooting. I'm not too excited about the Keymod/M-Lok craze so far myself. This guy knows what he likes.
Kris we are glad to see you more now, sua sponte brother!
Picatinny works just fine for me!!! Awesome warrior much respect for Mr Paronto :)
Reminds me of when you have A specific tool you've had from sears or harbor frieght that always gets the job done despite popular opinion of it being trash..
Good to know, Tanto. I bought my Bushmaster Patrolman M4 just one year after you did and we have it tricked out almost identical.
Way to go Ranger.
My first black rifle was a USMC issued factory Colt M16-A1 with full auto capability. At the time I thought it was ancient and worn out. Today I would give up a testicle to get it back.
I'm not an operator but my bushmaster makes me feel like one. Two inch spread at 120yrds, some times maybe a bullseye.
It's a solid rifle straight out the box and quickly inspires confidence with how effortlessly you make consistently good shots.
Thank you for your service and dedication @kris paranto!!
With so many people being a are snobs it's nice to see you rocking old school thank you for your service stay safe sir
Really awesome to be able to see the memories on his face as he goes over the rifle
You sir are a true badass...full respect.
That gun was used in training only. He says multiple times he wasn't allowed to actually deploy with it. I think some people are getting that confused.
Never take a semiautomatic to a war!😉
@@kennash7583 how come in retrospect wouldnt it be possitive in conserving ammo? granteed running up in a house to clear kinda want some auto cheese if anyone pops off lol
@@kennash7583 I think you’re overestimating how much automatic fire is used in actual combat. It’s really only used to suppress enemy positions, which is what MGs are made to do. Yes, rifles and carbines can be fire in full-auto, but semi-auto allows much more accurate fire while also conserving ammo.
@@blakjak8443 um, 2 tour vet here, 11B2P....I'm too much aware of what we use in combat. I'm stating the fact of taking a civilian rated AR 15 to combat would be stupid and not allowed.....
@@kennash7583 First of all, what the hell is “civilian rated” supposed to mean? There is no objective standard for “civilian rated.” Hell, a standard issue M4A1 would be, at best, considered a mid-tier AR compared to other ARs on the market (the only special thing about them are the mass-produced lower-receivers with auto Sears.) And, contrary to popular belief, a regular civilian can own a full-auto AR. It’ll take a good amount of money and you’ll have to jump through a lot of hoops, but a regular civilian can own one. So once again, how can you objectively define “civilian rated”?
Secondly, did you even watch the video? Kris literally says himself that he would’ve taken his Bushmaster AR with him overseas, into combat, if he was allowed to. Are you calling him stupid for wanting to take a semiautomatic rifle into combat? Is that still stupid?
"the guy behind the weapon is what makes it effective, it's not the weapon!" 👍👍
Daniel Defense, HK, FN, Sig and Colt left the chat. Mine is exactly same built, but mine started out a strip lower LMT receiver and built it with multiple components. Shoots better than any of those high end AR. I’m also not worried about scratches, it’s a tool not a wall decor.
I've had my Bushy since 2010 now has nearly the same accessories, almost identical to this and has never let me down. Under $1k original purchase price. I just bought a Gucci AR pistol, which is fun, but at the range the Bushy always finds it's way back into my hands.
Got my first Bushmaster back in 1999... Other than having to re-barrel it a few times... still a go-to rifle.

Lt. Fireguy I agree
Jedis are warrior monks.
more like american clone commando or arc trooper
I just got both my Maxim 6th Gen CQB stock for my Bushmaster AR, and the PDW CQB Brace for my Springfield AR pistol. Both feel nice shouldering them! Can’t wait to do some range shooting with them!! You sir are a true warrior. Thanks for you service.
awesomeness! thank you for your service!!!
As long as it’s reliable the rest is just personal preference.
Me: I agree entirely with the AR being a great weapon due to it's weight and lethality.
Also me: Builds a .458 SOCOM and fills 100% of rail slots with a variety of accessories.
Thank you brother for your service.God bless.
