      Green Aqua, where is a good place to find large high quality photos of these contest winning aquascapes? I’m trying to gather inspiration for my new tank from contest tanks but all the photos I find are small or low quality. Thank you!

      It is very difficult, the en.iaplc.com website has some photos, not the biggest ones, of the top 27, but at least you can evaluate.

      Question about the giant tree tank, aren't you worried about algea on the anubias (because they are so close to the lights)?

    The two aquascapes are AMAZING! The work and detail that went into both of them is incredible. If anybody can bring back the original story of these two it is Balaz and the Green Aqua team. Awesome work and great description of the maintenance work that goes into the aquascapes. Maintenance to me is very therapeutic and I just enjoy doing it myself. I may have to take you up on the offer to send in a picture and video of my aquascape. Its simple but I enjoy every moment i sit at the desk and get to just gaze at it. THANK YOU!

    This video was amazing.. but of course, I didn't expect anything less!
    So for somebody like me, just seeing the aquarium's like they were seemed perfect! I enjoyed how you took the picture and showed "the story" of the original builds.. the fun part was watching an amazing artist see where the work needed to be done to keep that story! You explained everything so well and made it to where I could see what and where you needed to do the tweaking to bring it back into balance!! It's easy to have a vision and plant plants. But having the knowledge of how they will grow in, how to shape them and maintain them is where you stand out as an artist.. being a professional is in the finishing details! I really enjoyed a look through your eyes and I really learned a lot! I hope you guys have an amazing and beautiful day! Stay blessed! 🙏👍❤️💪🐟🌱🌿 PS.. this also tells me this is not bucephalandra it is anubias 😂😂😂👍 that was so funny I about spit coffee out my nose 😂😂

    I like that you are looking at these aquascapes as a living changing thing. Every garden I have seen that is great has been transformed from the original inception into what it is by multiple hands over time. The idea of trying to stay within the original vision/story is important. It strikes me that in making notes on my own projects I need to include that vision. But it is also important to see how the growth of the aquascape will take it in another direction. Your changes on the second tank are illustrative of this idea, you had to add additional facets to the plan in order to balance what the growth changed. I am beginning to think that as I learn I need to include the growth plan of the plants into my vision. Yes things look great when I finish the original plan/vision, but change is normal in natural environments. The developmental end point can be the intersection and balance of these two forces.

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you are absolutely right. Sometimes we have to preserve the original concept (that is in relation to the focus point, the general lineage of the scape) and sometimes we need to add things to evolve it.

    Very well done. Josh's tank looks much better after the maintenance. I am not sold on the Rio Zingo stones in the foreground of the bonsai scape though, maybe they are too new and will look better as they age. I actually like the change to anubias, though I think I would have left the roots longer.

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, many suggested to leave longer roots for the ARM as well. I remember that. The pebbles are a bit more reddish than the bkgd rocks, but they look good irl, maybe it's the camera. I could have chosen the yellowish tint though from Dennerle. You're right.

      We don't like anything higher than 60 cm. In fact the better size would be 50 cm, and the depth should be a lot more, to be able to build a better layout in it. Also, the lighting will be very difficult, and maintenance would be also very difficult with higher tanks! We don't like that idea :) Thanks for the support, you are great!

    You should try using small pieces of slate, layered and over lapping as a natural staircase. To shape them use a hammer to break up large pieces of slate, then use pliers to snip off smaller bits to shape your pieces in finer detail. place them horizontally with bigger pieces at the front of the tank working your way back with smaller pieces as you go. Also to get a mountain feel break the slate into jagged pieces, and plave vertically into your substrate, with the biggest pieces in the back separating the smallerpieces a cm or two apart and stagger them as you come forward from the back glass. Allow algae to grow on them and they'll look like they are forested in the distance. Or you can cut up different types of mosses into little bits, use gorilla glue on the upper edges of the slate, and dip it into moistened moss bits. You'll have to keep it at a fairly short trim at the top lettning it get slightly shagger at the mid range down from the top. Use some steelwool without soap, to score the slate pieces to give better purchase for the growing moss, before you do your final placement in your tank and gluing of the moss onto the slate.

    Bom dia !
    É realmente impressionante o resultado.
    Principalmente com relação as algas. Esse é sem dúvidas o maior problema e decepção que encontro nos meus aquários.
    Como já disse, gosto igualmente de plantas e peixes, e com isso acabo tendo muitos peixes e alimentação.
    Somados a uma certa negligência nas trocas de água e manutenção, acabo sofrendo com excesso de algas. Principalmente as pincel, que chamamos por aqui de peteca.

    12:35 if I can share my mind (I know, damn critics everywhere...)
    I think the large sized pebbles in the bottom foreground detract from the big picture. They trap my eyes like magnets as they are larger that the tree's "leaves" - and strongly lit. Something finer / thinner would bring out the central piece to better effect. Then again, I may not fully understand the creator's vision here :)

      You are right, also the color is a bit strange. This tank lost focus when we changed the ARM to the Anubias - but it had to be done. Now I'm only saving what I can, boosting it as much as I can, I did not have time to start introducing messy sand (needs rinsing, water change etc.) but it should have helped the scape. Cheers.

    Great Video, thanks! But how do you keep all the algae away like that, apart from water changes?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good tech (strong filtration, good ligthing, CO2 injection, clay-based substrate), good temperature, heavy planting, good dosing, surface movement. All-in-all the biology is really stabile, it promotes plant growth but the conditions do not promote algae bloom (Ammonia levels are really low or zero). There are a couple of tutorials on this channel, you might want to check them out, all the above are detailed in them. Cheers.

      No, we use the hose full with water, taps on both ends, as usual, we just open the taps and let the gravity do the work.

    Hi Balazs,
    I’ve only got to the end of the Josh Sim’s tank and I thought it would be an improvement to use finer textured wood and remove the Anubias when covering the background above the endpoint, because the thicker textures take away from the depth. I’ll also add that while the vertical roots are a good idea they again need to be finer texture. On the whole some great improvements and I’m going to consider using some pebbles as you have.
    Having got to the Bonsai tank, all the improvements were all great, so I have no changes I would make.

      @GreenAquaShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    hello team green aqua, what do you recommend to keep a middle path clean of the soil, if using white sand in middle as a path in the beginning. Should the perimeter be lined with rocks or plants?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say rocks, and use fine filter mesh in the cracks so that the soil won't roll on the sand.

    I see that you have Amano Shrimp in many of your tanks. I bought them to eat algae and a take care of a minor hair algae bloom in a new tank, but the only thing they are eating are the fish's groceries, even though there's a lot of algae for them. They also have a taste for the tail fins of fancy guppies, grabbing on and dragging them to the bottom. Any suggestions?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, addressing algae issues starts with addressing the route cause of algae - as explained in our algae video. Amano shrimp can really eat fish food too, and they can occasionally catch fish that are weaker. They sense that. Overpopulating with fish could also be a problem, I don't have info on that. But they can really keep an aquarium algae-free, they do eat algae too. Not all types though. Hair algae is typically the territory of Siamese Algae Eaters, not Amano shrimp.

    • @craigpauls6950
      @craigpauls6950 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GreenAquaShop Hi, thanks for the reply. I raised my light as I thought it may be too bright, and the hair algae has started to dissolve, at least in the lower levels.
      I don't think the tank is overpopulated: I have six platies and six guppies in the tank, along with a dozen tiny red dwarf neon rainbowfish in a 23 gallon tank. I do regular water changes and have zero nitrates.
      Seems the lore on Amano Shrimp is wrong. I've read in many places that they eat hair algae. That's the only reason I got them. I already have an abundance of cherry shrimp and some bladder snails that hitchhiked in on a plant.
      I think I'll send the Amano's to a new home.

    Balazas, does the reverse osmosis system consist of tap water getting filtrated and making it soft and free of chlorine so that you can add it directly to your aquarium?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The RO takes everything out of the water, it is almost pure H2O. You'll need to remineralize it a bit to bring up the hardness (Ca and Mg salts) and you can use it, it is the best you can do for the plants (and fish).
