    maintenance… i have a friend who is doing absolutely nothing for years… the whole thing is full with cyano bacteria, fishes are fine plants are… :) on the other hand there’s me: doing constant water changes, nutriants, fertilizers, anti-algea treatments, trimming, cutting,… but i can’t get rid of algeas… yeah, fishes are fine but the plants look super ugly… :) it is… a mystery :) with the care.

    Thanks for you dedication in the videos. I see that you change water many times in one session maintenance. What about the parameter stability? It can cause a fluctuation in the gh, ph, kh. Isn't it important or you have a technic to avoid the fluctuation?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yepp, you should add back the GH plus often during big water changes. Other parameters will not be fluctuating too much if you buffer the pH with the salts.

    So what is the spray that you use for external filters? Are the rubber rings located at every pipe connection and do you need to spray all of them? Or just the ones that you are opening often?

    • @GreenAquaShop

      Yes, they are located at every point that can come apart... They will need occasional spraying too.

    How should I put the lily pipe in the tank, is it fully in the water or is part of it coming out of the surface until the water is slightly rippling, which is the best way to get oxygen into the tank?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the lily pipe is above the water partially and you don't break the water surface your filter is too weak! It should be fully submersed and gently move the surface without breaking it.

    10:00 - generally, the pumps used in canister filters use a centrifugal action to move water, and centrifugal pumps are fine to run with a valve closed on the discharge line without causing problems. If you have a filter with an external pump, make sure you know what style of pump you're dealing with. In most cases, they will be centrifugal pumps as well, but if they aren't, you could create major problems by closing a valve on a pressurized discharge line.

    • @Brunnen_Gee
      @Brunnen_Gee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A much easier solution than using vinegar is to use a flat razor. You can buy a cheap pack with a reusable plastic grip at any hardware store. Just rinse the blades with dish soap before use to remove the oil from them. I've been doing this for years and I've never scratched a tank. Honestly I don't really see how someone would, unless they were really gouging at it at an angle that wouldn't work for cleaning in the first place. Hold it at about a 30 to 40 degree angle from the glass and it'll take calcium buildup right off, no problem. No scrubbing, no need to use any kind of solution. Don't do it on acrylic though.

    I have a question regarding the maintenance of Microsorum pteropus 'Trident'. Everyone says it's a beginner plant but it's almost the only plant I can not keep. My problem is that over time it gets only tiny leaves.
    Is it a fertilizer problem or is it trimming? It is kept under all the "right conditions" with CO2, lots of light and of course it is not planted in the bottom layer. My water is pretty hard but that should not bee a problem for Microsorum. I have searches everywhere on the web and youtube but I can not find a solution. Can you lovely Green Aqua guys please help me?

    • @GreenAquaShop

      Strong light, and plenty of nutrients will make this a small plant. Which is cool, it gives scale to the tank. You could use bigger plants if you need mass. Like regular microsorum.

    My water changes coincide with house plant watering. It really isn't much to do at least 5 or 10 gallons a few times a week. My houseplants appreciate the nitrates. I've actually killed a plant from over watering. Ive learned to monitor my houseplants needs more than the aquarium.
    My wife's tomato plants also love the aquarium water!
    I'm currently using the bucket and siphon method. With a python? Come on! That is nothing to do a water change!

    Hi, small but important question. If you use a draining hose to suck the small pieces of moss and to vacuum clean the aquarium, wouldn't you fully drain out all the water before being ready with vacuum cleaning? Or do you have some kind of system that pumps the same water (although filtered) back into the aquarium?

    I see you use tesa glue. Try out the 2 types from toolstation. I use the thick one for the buce and Anubias and the thin for hardscape. It's not expensive and you have 50 ml a bottle. And for the blue algea use waterstofperoxide 3% it will die before your eyes and it will not damage the plant roots

    Hello dear GA team.
    In this video you can see some mash barrels in which you store the osmosis water. I do the same now. Now to my problem / questions. I noticed that after a while a slightly whitish / transparent smeary film forms in the barrel and the devices in the barrel. I have a dark blue barrel (opaque) with an - "almost" light and airtight - black lid on the barrel. How does it look like with you? Do you have that too? What is it or is it harmless? What are you doing about it? You can find a lot of unclear statements on the internet.
    thank you for your answer

I remember you guys have separated hoses used put "dirty" water out, and other hoses to replace clean water. Please share the details. Thanks in advance from Brazil.

    i also noticed you said cleanex spray for the outside but what kind of material do you use, microfiber cloth or regular paper towel?

      We are planning to do that very soon (the pond) but it keeps raining on the days we schedule the shoot, haha. The next try is tomorrow, and? Yeah, rain is predicted. Will see. Aquascaping inside is more reliable. Haha. Anyway, trim the big leaves of the crypt, and don't wait for it to become a big bush. Trim a couple of leaves randomly first, and see where it takes you.

    Thank you for sharing this spectacular video. While I admire your thorough work, I have been exhausted with so many "ceramic" Co2 diffusers getting clogged after some time specially if using solenoid. I have experienced this when water returns back through the ceramic stone and guess it blocks those microscopic pores. I read about few articles describing bleach and vinegar overnight soak, but after I tried, it did not work for some reason. How do you maintain the diffuser for the longest period before you need to replace the ceramic?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We bleach it in ADA Superge, or similar. It gets cleaned in like one minute. I do that in my home tank maintenance video. Check that out.

    Hey
    Another Great Content.
    But.. Why cleaning the Filter every Month? It destroys Biologie... Usually you clean the Filter when it's throughput has sunk
    A Question :
    I saw your Tds at 117. Which KH you go for?
    When I think about Kh2 there can't be much Gh in it. And Calcium should be minimum at about 30PPM...or not?
    I thought that the GH should be Minimum at about 5.
    What are your experiences when it comes to Growth and very low GH

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, it depend on your filter. Large canisters we clean every 3 months or so. But we monthly replace the white filter pad monthly to avoid floating particles which lead to algae. We're after the crystal clear water with no algae.
      We do have zero KH in the showroom tanks with the RO water. Aquasoils stabilize the water and helps to keep pH stable. So no need to have KH.
      On GH we only raise it for live stock. Snails and shrimps to help molting or with the snail house issues. Otherwise plants are great without raising GH.

    Dear Mr Farkas & Tommy :) I have just done my maintenance for one of my main tanks.. While siphoning the tank - towards the bottom, I found baby shrimps darting here and there.. It is so tiny that I am reluctant to throw away the water that I have siphoned.. Upon checking, I found many in that murky water.. What should I do & what will your advise be..? I dont want to be a murderer lol.. On serious note, I am happy that my shrimps are having many babies however I have 3 Mr Fugus & 3 Mr Rainbow Sharks apart from the usual Mr Pleco, Mr Otocinclus - you name it..! lol Currently I am holding that murky water in a huge pail with an air-pump inside.. hoping the babies will get bigger so I can visually scoop them out.. Help!

      There are nets that would get them out.
      I would suggest you to use a foam on the water change hose, and don't stir the substrate with water changes. It could work, if your filter is good enough. Also, use foam on the inlet too.
