    so according to this SAM, when you see a new player who appears to struggle, DONT offer help or critique or anything. let them continue playing the way they are even if its actively wasting everyone else's time. especially when you claim to just want to get shit done and grab your tomes.

    • @TheSkylire
      @TheSkylire 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      that is actually a good thing though, i would add leave the dungeon as well you cannot control others actions, only your own. Helping or Calling out others especially randoms, is likely to result in nothing happening, and only increasing your own annoyance, wasting your own energy. Don't care about wasting others time, care about wasting your own time and dip out when you feel like the struggle for clearing is hopeless.

    • @wildchupacabra905
      @wildchupacabra905 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      yeah, while at same time, if someone else who's not the tank decides to pull, you randomly pick an argument, even though you don't give an f about what the tank does
      talk about being hypocrite
      no wonder why SMN concluded they were friends

    • @TheSkylire
      @TheSkylire 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I don't really care about tank, dps or healer in this context, i'm talking about in general. When you are doing content with randoms having expectations, any expectations is only setting yourself up for failure. These are random people, some troll, some are completely ignorant, many wont change, some would change. At the end of the day you have absolutely no control of what the other player does, if it is a friend you have more input but still you cant control what they do.
      Arguing or Offering advice ultimately wastes your own time. Sometimes offering advice can work but it's a coinflip and if it doesn't work you get more annoyed for no real reason because again, you cant control what others do. I do agree at end game players should know the basics, and some more but also at the end game if they don't are they really likely to change when given advice? they made it this far, likely got tons of advice in the past and still have not got the basics down.
      Going in with that thought process to not waste your own time you have two options, leave the dungeon or struggle through while offering advice that is a coinflip. Both suck, but struggling through will result in more emotions if things get even worst like an argument. @@wildchupacabra905

      I never said that. Just that your communication is not going to control what that other player does, especially a random. It is only going to have a chance at changing what they do. If you communicate and it doesn't change anything then you are only going to get more upset. At end game, if someone does not know the basics, they have gone through tons of dungeons, likely with many players communicating with them to hey do this basic thing, to which they never changed.
      Going in with that knowledge it is better to leave then waste your energy, most players you try to communicate with at that point wont listen, and even if some do it is a coinflip, and if failed you are the only person who is going to get more upset about it, ultimately wasting your own time.
      Many players seek out advice, watch guides, they want to improve. The players who don't and continue being ignorant wont change because you communicated with them. @@sird31mos

If that's the case, then Rudrake is a bigger clown for calling Mane an "elitist" over this stupid run than he realizes.
    Plus let's be real. Rudrake only kept this up so that he gets people to come to his dying youtube and twitch channels and give him views. Because if he didn't self-report, no one would've known it was him at all due to Mane censoring his name out of kindness. Rudrake is just pathetic at this point.

      Is there proof you avoid autos? I think you only avoid autos IF the boss stops to cast something, then you can get distance. If the boss is "free to move" you cannot "out run a few autos" to save yourself. Now I am coming from WoW with this, where the best thing to do was always "stand still". That way the tank can "catch up" and grab aggro.
      The only way for the SMN to have aggro is if the tank does not have his stance up (shame on the tank), or he pulled before an inexperienced tank (who doesn't know how to use range attack/provoke). If it is the latter, you could... stand still... and let the tank catch up and retake aggro cause tank stance op. Also, if it is the latter... how you dying unless it is to a tank buster. Once again, coming from wow, bosses in this game do not "one shot" you with auto's... you can literally tank bosses easy until a tank buster. (I might be missing some context)

    • @kroganlauncher
      @kroganlauncher 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @hobbitluck you do, and the proof can be found anywhere, especially deep dungeon runs. I'm fairly certain you can even move certain ways so enemies can outright not hit you, but in general running around prevents autos. Look up palace of the dead runs with red mage so see it in action. You have for example mimics which you can outrun until they start casting meaning you prevented every auto in between the moment you aggroed to the moment they started casting.
      On the aggro thing with the tank, nope. Tank can have stance on, deal damage, and still lose aggro. Even though tanks generate a lot of aggro to the point where it becomes a non issue, a very lackluster tank like this one will definitely lose aggro, especially to jobs with a lot of burst damage like smn that can just pump out insane numbers in like 10 seconds. See for example when a tank pulls mobs and then does a single aoe attack before running away. The tanks is very likely to loose aggro on multiple of the enemies left behind because the dps are hitting them as they run. Next uo, you don't need to stand still to let the tank grab aggro again, tanks have a ranged attack that generates a lot of enmity and they also have provoke which has an even bigger range and puts you at the top of the aggro list immediately, not to mention they were fighting a boss in a dungeon meaning they were in an enclosed space where the tank is in rage of the enemy 100% of the time to use either provoke or the ranged attack if not outright combo it.lastly as to how the summoner is dying, if the tank is not holding aggro then auto attack damage racks up and coupled with raidwides that do a nice chunk it is likely the tank just didn't do anything for so long it became a big issue. Tanks have no problem surviving without heals because they have sustain built into their kits but dps jobs don't

      @@hobbitluck The enemies have a gcd window on basic attacks like everyone else, with a set attack range. If they are mid animation and an enemy with a shorter range, there is a chance autos can be skipped. It's not a guarantee, because latency is also a factor, but if it's a 100% chance of being hit by just standing there vs a 50% coinflip by moving, you take the coinflip. Provoke has the range of basically any arena, and if they are *that* desperate they can gap close or do a single ranged attack afterwards. Regaining aggro as a tank is not as hard and people make it seem. I came from WoW before moving to XIV, and the aggro tables work way differently. It's not like WoW at all, where the tank has to fight his way back up the aggro table. As soon as they hit provoke, it slaps them right back at the top. If the tank has tank stance on and hits the enemy at all, he has aggro. It takes one spell for you to get aggro as a tank in this game now. If anyone else in the party other than offtank has aggro, the tank is fucking up.
      Also, the SMN may have been attempting to avoid some hits to give the healer a chance to raise the tank and pump out heals so everyone doesn't die, because even while bosses in this game are auto attacking, they can have other mechanics and casts rolling at the same time. If their healer wasn't a shield healer, than getting hit by a boss repeatedly can get painful really quickly for a squishy mage. Especially with some of these later bosses having cleaves and stacking attacks. The SAM is just a brainlet who doesn't know how to move into the path of the boss to keep his gcd rolling, and probably was trailing behind the mob like an idiot.

      @@BiscuitsV2 thank you for the clarifications. I still feel like we are talking hypothetical on the last point of how the boss was moving around without knowing more. It still seems to me like there should have been plenty of time for the tank to grab aggro before the SMN died. Unless the first mechanic was a tank buster. Hence, the hypothetical: which boss and how long was the SMN running in circle. Or how do we know it is not the case that the smn was doing some trolling by dragging him from the melee. There could definitely be some shared blame before all three people.

As healer and tank its much easier. Squadrons are not as good at it as trusts are which makes sense since trusts are a ShB thing (introduced then) while squadron is from ARR I think.
      In this situation with the tank the problem would have been that the program assume you are playing your role as you should. So a healer npc in a trust generally is not good as switching target to heal so if the tank is losing aggro all the time the npcs would die fast because the healing wouldn't be there because the trusts are programmed to assume you will actually tank 😆

    SAM: "It's his first time running this dungeon." That has sweet fuck all to do with not AoEing. Is this is first time tanking, period? Because the only way that could be true is if he straight-up bought a lvl 90 character, in which case fuck'im. If that's not the case then the first time running a dungeon shouldn't magically make you forget how to play your class.
    6:36
    The simple answer: the SAM doesn't know how to AoE either and as such didn't notice the tank failing to hold group aggro. :D
    16:18
    Keep in mind we're talking about a guy who bragged about almost running out the clock on a dungeon, "a normal expert run" is probably around an hour for him.

    I use ACT as a casual to see how I'm personally doing. The only time I get mad at other players is generally after content completes, if they did some weird fuckin shit like not healing at all or not dpsing at all, or if the DPS do like zero fucking dps or something.
    Idk, I think there's a real problem of the game not teaching players that they need to read their tooltips. The number of healers I've gotten who massively overheal, the number of DPS I've gotten who barely click, the number of tanks I've gotten who single-target every pack.. Shit's way too high, man.
    FF14 needs an ACTUAL decent tutorial. Fix the Smith system, make it mandatory before Duty Finder is available, and make the shit relevant.

    Honestly, I will bet that the tank does know how to AOE and hold threat but just wanted to find ways to kill Mane Tank by letting him have agro on purpose. Because quite a few players live and die by the "you pull you tank" mantra and it sounds like Mane Tank was pulling mobs ahead of the tank. Just because it was the tank's first time in that dungeon, doesn't mean he can't have an elitist attitude of his own...

      that's just absolutely wrong, not only you can pull ahead and act as mitigation because YOU are taking the hits, and if you are a melee or phys ranged you can pull with arms length and not only mitigate damage getting hit, you also help by doubling the amount of time the adds will be slowed by your arms length + tanks arms length. PLUS as a tank it takes you literally 1 or 2 aoe gcds with tank stance to grab aggro back from anyone in your dungeon. If it was the healer doing the same thing, like sage pulling ahead to break shields and get toxikon stacks, would you just let your healer die everytime then the whole party, just because tanks should be the ones pulling? in wow it makes sense being the alpha pulling as tank, in 14 just doesn't.@@vanyel_etc8695

I'm not being sincere, but if I gotta deal with a tank not using AoE in an endgame dungeon, I want to see $12 USD in my paypal.
    I AM being sincere in saying this: If you play a team game, you owe it to your party to consider their experience as well. As a tank, you owe your party a tank. A tank holds aggro and preferably doesn't die. Holding aggro in a dungeon necessitates using AoE for the sake of the flow of combat. It's the standard everyone expects in a dungeon. Not using AoE as a tank is a mistake that should be corrected in Sastasha, and I would hope that non-tanks would be aware of tanks using AoE before they even try tanking in the first place. It should be common knowledge.

    I wanna say that the MSQ forces you to go to the Hall of Novices before doing Sastasha, but it never forces you to actually do the tutorials, except maybe the first one that teaches you what your role does. It highly recommends you to do it and gives you a reward for completing it (an ilvl30 ring that boost exp until level 30), but it doesn't force you to actually do the tutorials. If you buy a skip, you never have to go to the Hall of Novices ever.

    (As PLD) When 2.0 released, it was my very first MMO and I only leveled using FATES and when I got to The Wanderer's Palace, almost everybody hated me. I'd run in, Flash -> Flash -> Flash until MP gone and then tried to juggle enemy aggro and I didn't even know what oGCDs were for. When 5.0 came out, I played Warrior in dungeons and I remember asking a guy, "Hey how do you do the buzzsaw thing?" and he asked if I had done the job quest. So, for the longest time, I was playing Warrior without the job quest done.... in max level dungeons... ("Max level"? I mean endgame dungeons)
    So, then I mained melee DPS because I no longer allow myself to be the leader of any group no matter how casual.

    TL;DR: Sometimes people are genuinely not aware of how they’re supposed to play. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t tell them how they can more effectively do their job, just don’t be an ass about it.
    Honestly, I recently watched a video explaining how people could get this far into the game and not know how to play the class and roll they’re playing and it made a lot of sense. I’m specifically talking about Rianon (or Rinon). Hall of the novice is optional content firstly if we’re not specifically talking about the one instance in the MSQ that has really nothing to do with class related content. On top of that, the game never confirms your effective understanding of your class and their abilities. Plus, I think the mentality of “it’s whatever, I’m just here to get it over with” is more harmful than telling them what they’re doing wrong. It perpetuates the fact that no one’s has told them, not even really the game tbh, that the way they’re playing is wrong. Often times people tell new players to “ignore” the hall of the novice quests. Hell, the fact that even Xenosys has never played it is a testament to the fact that it doesn’t even prioritize it as a learning point. I’m not saying that there are people without fault who will ultimately do this stuff on purpose and refuse to learn outright. But you shouldn’t attribute to malice what can easily be attributed to general ignorance. They genuinely may not know. I’ve seen absolutely amazing healers…that still don’t know which rebuffs can be Esuna’d. I remember fondly going through a heavenward dungeon and I was struggling as when to understand exactly what each healer button did. I was absolutely beating myself up for it and my tank kindly stopped and explained to me the difference between cure 3, Medica and medica 2 and all my heal buttons. Who has hands down been my favorite healer as it is the class I started with and I always read my class abilities and try to practice them, but I don’t always understand them and they leave me frustrated. The game isn’t very good at really allowing you to understand what you’re doing and how to do it right, often times I rely upon teammates to help me when I’m struggling because sometimes it takes a different perspective to get it.
    I do think however, there is a limit t what kind of advice you can give. For instance, being overtly mean about how poorly someone is tanking or calling them names for not fully grasping their class is terrible and will cause people to potentially play worse or not at all. Being repeatedly bashed and bad mouthed especially as a tank can color your experience of the class as a whole and not make you want to play especially when you’re already struggling to understand your roll.

You're actually the asshole if you don't. Could the other guy have been more polite about it? Sure, hell he probably was earlier in the run and then got annoyed. But ignoring a blatant issue that will affect anyone else unlucky enough to group with him in the future is a dick move and white knighting like that will do nothing but convince the tank he did nothing wrong and that was just a toxic player. I am at best a casual tank. I dont do savage or ult or anything like that. I mostly play SMN to be quite honest. Hell, the reason I even started tanking in FF14 is I got so annoyed at tanks fucking up mechanics in normal Alexander when me and my wife were farming SHB Relic parts, that I was like "I CAN DO BETTER THEN THAT" and then did.
    AOE rotation is the basic rule for pack pulling. Spin to Win. Its the easiest thing in the world. Honestly, other then chaining mitigations together, I find tanking at times to be easier then DPS. I just spin, hit mits, and make sure to dodge enemy AOE. Thats it. Thats all I have to do. Its...mind boggling to me that the tank was doing this. And the bit about the SMN running around interrupting the SAMs cast? The tank could Voke, sure....they could also use their RANGED ATTACK which has higher threat! That would also work. And Voke and that attack are both at RANGE. The tank doesnt even have to really MOVE to get the mob! Like what is going on with this insanity?!
