Class, I cleaned up the bush housing with some sand paper and brake cleaner then use rubber care for lube and it slipped in also the bolts gave them a wee clean an copper grease the threads so next time they wont be seized solid 😎.
Yeah I should have done that to be fair. Was definitely rushing as a month without the car was taking its toll! I do the copper grease on bolts on my old e30 as everything seizes on a 30 year old car.
@@CookRacingUK Your specific Mekanik set was no longer available on Amazon, mine looked suspiciously similar (4 different size bars), but the nuts were all 27mm. Also the biggest "cup" was barely big enough for the bushes (think 72/82mm) - still got them replaced in a couple of hours though! Cheers
@@JosiahCarron nice! Yeah the sets are all in different sizes too, I tried to get a wide range hence that set. Fingers crossed I never have to take a wishbone/ subframe to a garage with a press ever again! 😅
I ordered it from Amazon its a: Mekanik 3.8 out of 5 stars 9Reviews Mekanik Press and Pull Sleeve Kit Removal Install & Extracts Seal Bushes Bearings 27pc It was 90 quid and it seemed to do the job well, glad I have one now for the rare time I need to do these. Just make sure you read how to use it properly - I didn't and knackered one of the thread washer bearings!
It's a 27 pc Mekanik Press and pull sleeve kit from Amazon, the link expired sorry. Cost about £85 but loads of different sizes so hopefully never need to go to pay a garage for their press again (fingers crossed).
You could - I did it with my BMW E30 bushes *but*...... you still need to get the new ones in so the press kit is the only way I can see without a garage press.
@@Nyle95 Quite possibly, the E30 poly bushes I've seen do too. But not the OEM stuff meant for the road. Having driven my race car with poly bushes to tracks before, I don't recommend them as a daily driver :D
@@CookRacingUK I've noticed Powerflex do a road range for every day and a black range for track. I don't have experience with them myself but I've heard the road ones don't really change the stiffness of the ride too much. My rear axle bushes need replacing so going to buy a set of the road bushes just for ease of fitting.
Nicely done procedure, thanks.
I have that exact push pull set. Be sure to use the largest biggest diameter bolt screw in the kit.
Yeah I used a smaller thread bar and the nut chewed itself with the force! :(

Did the old brushings squack when going over speed bumps?
Trying to remember, maybe they did? Can't recall 100%
Really helpful video thanks, going to attempt this later this week. Are the nuts 24mm for the Mekanik set?
I've just checked, and the bar nuts are different sizes. But yeah the 22mm nut is probably the one I used.
Hope it went/ goes OK?

@@CookRacingUK I hope so as well! Crazy how a £90 is still cheaper than the labour for one such job at a garage!

Great video mate, cheers
You're welcome hope it's useful!
Great video. Just out of interest can you just 'chisel' out the old bush and replace with a poly bush. Get away without buying tool

@@CookRacingUK From what I've seen the poly bushes push in by hand
