Pro tip - You can actually ask the salesman of showroom for real world mileage. When I was planning to buy a new car, I went to Tata, Hyundai, Skoda, VW. I asked every sales exec about real world mileage and not the arai claimed, surprisingly there "real-world" mileage is extremely close if not same, for eg For Nexon AMT has Arai Mileage of 17.33, exec said u can get a mileage of roughly 7-11 kmpl in city and 12-16 on highway, while test riding itself, I got mileage of 10 in city and roughly 12 on highway(not so much of highway more of open roads), and after purchasing as well my nexon gives a mileage of 8-10 in city(depends on who's driving and how's he driving) and 14+ on highways regardless of driving (under 130)

Honda City 5th Gen manual ARAI mileage is 17.8 KMPL. I am getting 18-20 KMPL with speed range of 80-110, AC at 25 Celsius with 2 adults and 2 children with light boot space on highway. Within city, mileage drops to as low as 9 KMPL. I did Pune-Rajasthan trip of 3300 KM. I got mileage of 16.5 KMPL. It is all about your driving style, slow traffic, road condition and weather. Most important is your driving style. Honda City gives best mileage when it driven between 2000-2300 RPM on high gears.

I recently bought XL6 CNG. ARAI mileage in CNG is about 27 km per kg, and I am getting about 24 to 25 km per kg on an average in peak city traffic drive in Delhi. (Video in my channel). I don't think it's that bad. I think a lot depends on how one drives apart from traffic conditions.
@Techno Gravity Bhai anap shanap speed m chalaoge to Mercedes v Kam hi hai. Else, it's always a choice and preference. And one must go for a tank like car for safety purposes. 👍
On highway my Swift gives me around 20 Kmpl with 2 persons AC ON @ 100Kmph. ON Mid it's around 21.5 Kmpl... Swift's claimed mileage is 21.6. A lot depends on the speed, acceleration, rpm etc. If you drive at 40 Kmph on 5th gear it also gives 35 Kmpl+ on most cars 😹
Completely agree with you mate, but Tiago's ARAI millage on cardekho is listed 19.1kmpl for petrol manual and I'm getting 21kmpl in the city. It might be due to my driving style. Still I'm getting it within the city rush hours.
Cost of purchase of volvo is greater but maintenance and downtime costs are much lower. A normal lorry diesel engine takes 5 lakh kms to come for engine overhaul. A volvo engine goes past 10 lakh kms. So the bus can be operational more and more profits. Also, brand name
@@nishant54 Volvo safety in cars has no relation with safety in bus. Usually in India the transmission, engine and chassis of a bus is manufactured by one company and the frame and the seating is manufactured by others. So? It has only a 2-litre engine with a seating capacity of 2. Supercars are anyway aerodynamic by design. It may seem unreal but you can get a mileage of 10-12 kmpl.

Same i have creta new gen too and my average is around 17kmpl 0.2kmpl ahead of arai, just drive with light foot even in high speeds dont let the RPM above 3000 and you'll get superb mileage.
Same brother. We have swift and elite i20 in our family. The claimed mileage for i20 was 18 kmpl and we get 16-17 on highways regularly and around 12 in the city, which is fine in my opinion. Testing will always be done in the lab hence variation of 5-10% is understandable. Why make a fuss when you do not how to get the best mileage out of your vehicle?
Informative video but I still did not get why ARAI mentions mileage in their findings. If their job is to predict the emission and the mileage calculation is just a by-product (which is anyway wrong) then why not just present the data for emissions. ARAI is a government body then just do not release the mileage data. This way if the company has to mention the mileage they have to do their own separate testing.
