Thank you so much for being so honest about the stalks. I was test driving this thing a few weeks ago and that was literally the only major reason I did not like this car (oh and also bluetooth didn't work with my S21 so that was weird)
do you have the matrix headlights update? I have the second cersion, in Europe, the lights have become the best I've ever had till now! fully adaptive ABD stopped blinding every bird on the road
@@justan1ck stupid steering wheel decisions does not equal to hating elon, both yoke and buttons for turn signals are stupid and should not pass car safety regulations
I have been using it daily since March, already put 30k km on it. Its generally a really nice car, I have gotten used to everything but 2 major issues. Turning signals, often times I just give up and stop using them if they turn off and other times the car thinks I'm switching lanes and turns the signals off for me so I have to turn them back on because I moved into a turning lane and am about to turn. The other issue is the gear selector, shifting into Drive and Reverse are generally really nice and the audible signal is nice to have because sometimes I shift but because I don't drag the shift selector enough on the screen the car doesn't shift so when I press the accelerator I realize I'm still in reverse. Also with summer the roof being glass is horrible for energy consumption and heat in general, though I did buy a clip on sunroof which has helped tremendously. I still cant get over the acceleration on the car either, though for daily use I have it set to "chill" mode. What people often make fun of is waiting to charge but I do all my charging at home, for the few times im low I would go to a supercharger and plug in for a few minutes then leave with another 100km. I can always fix that as well by going over the 80% limit I have set but since I have the Long Range its not much of an issue. With the amount of Driving I do (which has actually been a little less these past few months because of some stuff that has come up for me) I have made the car payments back in literally just gas savings... its insane. My electricity bill has gone up by around 100 (cad) a month, as opposed to the 70 dollar tank I would fill up every 2-4 days.
About the wipers - one can start to understand why they are so stupid, because for some brilliant reason they don't have a proper sensor, like all the other cars do.
@@pipooh1Lol. Tesla's rely on the camera for the wipers too rather than using a traditional rain sensor. Helps to inform a little bit before making comments
@@pipooh1Tesla removed a bunch of sensors and are relying on AI and software. They removed every sensor that are not cameras and are moving to "Tesla Vision" since 2023. It made self parking and self driving worse. It's why when it gets less than 15km it's not really sure how far away the car is and stops suddenly when before it relied on radar to figure out distance.
@@BurritoKingdom I'm not sure about you, but the times I used FSD when they had that free month a little while back, or even basic Autopilot, I never experienced any such issues with it getting down to a low speed and then just slamming on the brakes. It's also better for it to stop further back than most people typically would in their car driving themselves, because should something happen behind it, there would be no room to try to evade.
it's an annoying piece of shit and somehow he didn't wanna drive it of a cliff since it's maria's (both in terms of review and physically). It's lacking normal features and the frunk/bottom trunk compartment are also normal on other vehicles + how annoying could it be for a front passenger to have the rear one adjust your seat? Btw how can a the game fix legroom on longer drives??
I mean he does have a quote “The best part is no part. The best process is no process. It weighs nothing. Costs nothing. Can’t go wrong.” And I does make sense in the mind of Elon, in the future cars will be fully driven or assisted with FSD or equivalents, so why would you need to make more inputs to complicate things. Though we’re are not at the level right now maybe in 2026/27
It definitely does not help profit margins. If you think a 1¢ piece of plastic is what they're worried about, you're wrong. Its most likely they just thought it looks futuristic to not have anything sticking out.
The haptic buttons are really nice! I daily drive this car, and I genuinely hope I never have to go back to stalks again. It took some hours to get used to, but after that it's pretty sweet!
This among other things were a huge deciding factor for me when cross shopping EV's I ended up getting a Polestar 2 since I still get proper turn signals and wipers along with a gauge cluster and it just plain looks better.
@@HAFBeast91 Just because you find it a terrible design, does not mean general public does. They still sell more cars then they can produce with 3 gigafactories.

No indicator stalk makes it useless in UK. We need to indicate leaving the roundabout and it is pretty dangerous having to look for indicator button every time .
I've been driving a model x for a bit over 2 years with the same turn signals. It's definitely worse than a stalk but you get used to it within a week. The horn button however is super dumb and way too sensitive, I've honked so many times when reversing out of parking spots.
Stalks are better, I agree. But the hyperbole around "dangerous" is just silly. I drive a manual with 6 gears, and I regular manage the cordination of hand and foot without looking, and no one has died because of it, and nor is called dangerous.
@@dzikoo the stick changes position because of the stick's throw, and I need to know where it was previously relative to where I want it to go. The buttons change location too, but the one pointing to the outside of the wheel is left, and the one pointing towards the middle is right. I also mastered this with the skipping tracks buttons.
The "frunk" suddenly seems more useful, with the epidemic of thieves smashing rear windows in order to quickly get into your trunk. I try to never leave valuables in my car, but if I need to, I'll put them up front. It's going to be significantly harder and more time-consuming (e.g. risky) to pry that open just to see if there's something in it.
The wipers are bad, you are right. But to manually control the speed you DO NOT have to touch the screen. Once you press the button the steering wheel, you can use the scroll button the change the speed between off, auto, 1, 2, 3, 4.
Yes, but it still sucks. Auto should be after 4, and pressing the stalk once should not change the speed. It used to just do a single wipe regardless of whether the wipers were on or off which was great for when you were in light rain and had intermittant, but get sprayed by a truck or puddle. Now if I want to go from slow to off, it goes faster when you press the stalk, hesitates for a moment during which the thumb wheel does nothing, and then finally lets you turn them off.
Sorry but I don't find it difficult at all it just takes time to get use to it. I love the No stalks and buttons for indicators they are so easy to use once you are use to it. I use the centre bump to find the correct button and on a roundabout I place my thumb over the button I need next. I would never want to go back to stalks again. As for the wipers it does have different levels for the wipers if you hit the windscreen button on the steering wheel it will bring them up on the screen then you can use the left scroll wheel to change the levels. To be fair the wipers have improved with the last couple of updates. You can change the 5 apps along the bottom of the screen to be whatever you prefer by touching the 3 buttons which then brings up all of the apps so you just drag them over the current ones to the place you want along the bottom and as for the seat controls they always stay along the bottom in their own place at each end so they should always be there along with the temperature controls. The lights have now been changed to adaptive across all Teslas through an update so they will now adapt for curves in the road ahead of you and illuminate farther when driving on a motorway and they dip themselves and change direction to not blind other drivers so they work well. Maybe you need to have a read of the manual to learn more about the Tesla especially the 2024 model.
M3 Highland driver of over 10k km's. A few notes. The RWD is the best bang for the buck right now, especially compared to other EV's efficiency and options (e.g. hyundai, polestar, Kia, etc). The auto trunk works perfectly fine and its surprisingly accurate. Check the phone version as its not working with older phones/os versions. Turn signals are actually decent especially for the highways in Germany. It sucks in small roundabouts ! What I feel is that you will completely get used to it, and you'll forget entirely about the stalks in a few weeks. it's one of those things that take time. Over-exaggerated in the media. The swipe thingy is fine. I never swipe drive modes in a daily/work commute. The automation thingy works quite good. You get in the car, it automatically shifts depending on the park and off you go. Voice commands are very limited. Hope they improve it with an AI update. The auto-wipe either works great or terrible. Needs improvement. Luckily the wiper button is aligned in the perfect spot. The adaptive led matrix headlights are absolutely awesome. Maybe not activated in Canada? Check the settings for ''adaptive''. You have the impression that blinds everyone, but it actually does a great job. (yes' I've tested it on the opposite side). They are still tuning it as we speak. No HUD is meh, would make the car very close to perfect by having one. You can also set the steering wheel heating & heat/cool seat ''touch buttons'' on the bar below, and/or assign the left wheel press to pretty much anything. Sound and insulation is fantastic. Once you get used to it, it’s a fun, lazy-ass car that works pretty darn well. With incentives, it’s actually a no-brainer.
I get that Tesla is devoting most of its efforts towards FSD right now but come on Tesla, it would be better to just not offer auto wipers than fir people to expect this system to be improved at some point and be disappointed.
They're better than they used to be, mostly because you couldn't use cruise control with them turned off, but now you can. It does however turn them back on every time you cancel and re-engage cruise control, which annoys me no end. I understand that you need the cameras to be clear of water so that the adaptive cruise control can work... but I hat that too, always slowing down for no reason. Just give me an option dumb cruise control, I don't need any nanny hand holding, if I crash into the back of someone then so be it, but I've managed the last decade of driving other cars just fine so think I'll manage just fine... In the last update they allowed scrolling the thumb wheel to change wipe mode, which is great, but they also made it worse by having each press of the wiper stalk change mode, so to go from intermittant wipe to off without removing my hand from the wheel, I have to press the stalk which makes the wipers faster before I can scroll to turn them off. So dumb. So backwards.
You can open the trunk by standing next to it while your phone is in your pocket. It's a setting you need to toggle on. You can also move the seat heating/cooling shortcuts down on the dock. (Source: I have a 24 M3LR and it works on mine)
@@harwil32 it gives you a three-chirp warning before it does. I’ve walked by my trunk a ton of times and never had it open unintentionally. Note: you have to be somewhat close also. It won’t trigger say you’re 5 feet away. It’s more designed for moments you have your hands full.
2019 Model 3 owner here. I appreciate the impartiality. The review brought up my two biggest criticisms - the completely fucking braindead automatic wipers (which is an issue on mine too), and the similarly braindead lack of indicator stalks. The latter's a dealbreaker.
The new 3 takes a lot of inspiration from the 2022 Refresh of the S & X. I can say the white is remarkably stain resistant and the ventilated seats are actual bursts of cold air on your butt and back. Very nice.
Please do a special episode on the LED headlight epidemic. SO BRIGHT. Roads aren'ts level, aiming them doesn't matter, they need to be less bright and less white.
It's been an issue for a long time, not necessarily related to LED. Some years back, before any car had LED headlights I noticed that more and more of the cars I met at night were blinding even on low beam. One night I met a car that flooded the road with intense light so bright I couldn't see anything. Pissed off I flashed the headlights to signal him to switch to low beam. Well he flashed me back. It turned out that he had been using his cars version of low beam. I had to break and park at the curb waiting for my eyes to recover. This was just halogen lights but bad enough to be dangerous and the low beam was certainly not shielded to keep from blinding meeting traffic. Now properly designed headlights will not blind the meeting traffic when you use low beam. High beam is another matter. It will be disastrous for anyone you meet in the night, so make sure to always go to low beam when meeting a car. And do adjust your cars headlights wo low beam doesn't blind people. Sure it you can't see as far along the road that way, but at least you don't have to risk crashing head on with a driver that can't see.
THe problems is with color temperature. Lights from 2700k (old halogen) up to 4000-4500k (some LED, even third-party) are OK. Whenever you go above 5000k, even 6500k, the light becomes unbearable.
There used to be solutions for this… it’s called a raised median. Too bad they got torn down cause ppl thought they looked bad. But the noise reduction and especially light reduction from oncoming traffic was phenomenal.
Hey "Glenners" just wait till you reach circa 60yrs old and your night driving vision fails. THEN you will LOVE LED lights. This writer at 74yrs swapped out the halogen bulbs in his 2019 Niro BEV for LEDs. Yah! I can, at night, see clear to next week. The problem solver is matrix headlamps, which the Govt will not allow in the USA{who paid them off on that detail] Europe uses them and the world did not end. Ditto for side mirrors/cameras
You can customize the bottom bar of the main screen by pressing and holding on an icon. You can then drag-and-drop the heated seat button back into the bar.
Let me make sure to spell it out for manufacturers. Stalks and buttons are like quick-launch links. Let me interface with the things I use most often with physical controls, that way, I can do it without looking. Lights, indicators, wipers, gear selector - buttons. Radio controls, and climate controls - do a long touch screen (prefer buttons) below the panel which can switch between and control those with hybrid up/down button controls.
Got used to the indicator buttons after like 20 roundabouts (the absolute worst scenario for them), but really wish they added tactile dots like he suggested in the video. As for gear selector the swiping works way better than the buttons I had in a rental Hyundai recently😅
I'm still missing the gear selector stalk behind the steering wheel, let alone a standard turn signal. Maybe the solution would be to glue a transparent dot to one of the buttons, or gouge one of them so there's a texture difference. Of course shouldn't be necessary, but still.
For the auto trunk opening, I believe you need an iPhone with UWB. Also, remember that Tesla normally does not supply a charger cable (you can buy it at order time).
A few things, you can add the seat heater icons to the bottom row, along with the defrost options for easy access. The auto-open boot requires an iPhone with UWB (presumably an Android equivalent soon) The headlights are hampered in North America by legislation. Here in Oceania and in Europe, the headlights have adaptive/matrix headlight capabilities where it turns off portions of the headlight to mask the oncoming car
I have one of the Highland Model 3 RWD in the UK. I absolutely love it and have found the buttons far easier to use and it stops the indicator stalk disco mode that I often contended with. Trying an older Model 3 with a stalk was far more difficult. I do agree with the auto wipers issue though. Not bad but not great. I have found it super smooth, quiet and efficient. The phone connection makes it so easy as no need to do anything other than have your phone with you. Walk up to door, open it, get in, close door and put foot on brake to start car. Automatically sets reverse and you go. The boot opening update works well again with phone in pocket it works well 3 beeps and it is opening. Also the latest updates to the headlights they are now blocking zones out and it works very well. I want you to test out the new self driving as it looks very impressive now on the latest software.
"MODEL 3/Y KEY FOB $175" from Tesla's site It's not expensive. I lost a key to a Renault Clio like 20 years ago and I had to pay $70. With how much the value of a dollar has plummeted over the last 20 years 175 is almost a steal, almost😆
Actually about the seat heating you can put custom buttons on the bottom row and there is an option to add left or right seat heating as a shortcut, and about the turn signals there is also an option to automatically disable your turn signal if you are switching lanes or turning (it can decide what you are doing based on your surroundings), and you can also disable that in the settings
Soo here's the thing.. As an owner for 6 months (Germany) I think if u want to review the "Tesla experience", you need to give some time for yourself to learn all the little things coz it's vastly different than any other car on the market. Some may drive it confidently after the first hour, some may need 1-2 weeks to experience the "edge cases". First of all, the white seats are super easy to maintain, you just wipe it with wet wipest, job done. The windshield wiper's auto mode is crap yea, but you don't HAVE to change the manual speed on the screen. It also shows you, that after pressing the windshield button on the steering wheel, you can scroll the cursor with the left scrollwheel up and down. BTW with the latest updtate Tesla managed to break this feature by "automatising" the maunal option, meaning for example u go with level 1, the rain stops you press the windshield button, and it jumps up to level 2 "coz u asked for more" while u actually wanted to turn off the thing .. Just like pressing Start on Windows for the shutdown... XD You also don't have to go into the "menu" to reach the heated/ventillated seats, you can drag them to the bottom and keep it next to climate control. As much you guys are being the biggest tech enthusiasts as much I really don't understand how this made a confusion... The stalks... Literally every single reviewer complaining and hating the missing stalks ever since the debute. I sat in the car KNOWING the signals going to be buttoned because of said reviews. The first day I drove 150 kms charging + home and only one single time I missed the signal because that roundabout was half the size in diameter then any other roundabout on the planet. Ever since I know, if the wheel is upside-down, then I press the bottom one with the right hand and that's the right signal. That one time was my only miss ever since and I drove the car 19k kms so far (12k miles). The video feels like "Yeah, yeah it's a great car, but, but, but, but..." and those many buts actually breaking the feeling of "a great car". It is a great car, and those buts are not as serious as they sound. Did any of you tried to switch after 10 years from android to apple? You would complain that the bloody back button is not there for the first day and you get used to it. It's the same...
- There is an option for a "normal", physical key (for opening/closing the car trunk, frunk, doors, windows) - You can simply rearrange the buttons at the bottom of the screen and put the seat heating there - I agree, the auto wipers are nowhere near perfect - Yes, the original options for static headlights are blinding for the others, but if you actually turn on the adaptive headlights then IMO they are better than other manufacturers' - The suspension is a new adaptive one, that is why it is soft for the potholes and stiff for cornering :)
Alex, the auto-trunk feature has to be turned on in the car’s settings before it will work. Also, you will want to make sure your phone has been setup as an enhanced key with the car (i.e., uses UWB). Both are required for the auto-trunk to work.
Seatheater shortcut is possible, auto wipers and matrix headlights are much better in the lastest update. After 3 weeks I don’t mind the lack of blinker stocks anymore
But also that is quite annoying I have to say as a highland driver. As it also auto increases when pressing the wiper button, you need to go down twice to reduce and often confirm the current setting by looking on the screen. I miss my stalk for wipers more than for the indicators. For the indicators I added an extra turn right button at the bottom of my steering wheel for roundabouts (living in Europe). With that, I'm quite ok with it. next to that...phantom braking with autopilot on normal roads when trucks are crossing in the other direction.
@@_clemens_ is Phantom breaking STILL a thing??? I have a 2021 M3 Performance and the last year or so, I haven't had one incident, I figured it was solved via software updates. When I first bought the car new, it was insane, I couldn't risk using AP due to brake checking a truck on the highway doing 120.
@@erdrickk on a highway don't know I don't do a lot of highways. But on normal roads when big trucks pass, it sometimes brakes afterwards...very annoying. Afaik not every M3 Highland has this, but mine does.
Wonderful review as always. Game changer of a car, however addressing some of the "negative" comments made in the view for things he "wished were there", and some positive ones too: 1. Trunk Auto Open - It uses the cameras and you have to enable it in the car menu, works surprisingly well. 2. Climate Controls (heated/vent seats) - You can actually add them as quick widgets! In my Model 3H I've put: Seats Cool/heat(ing), Heated Steering Wheel, Windshield Defroster. 3. Climate Controls (quickly setting temps etc) - A fun UX action you can do is just swipe left/right on the temperature widget at the bottom to quickly change it, I dont even look at it when I do it as I drive since the swipe length scales perfectly every time and you can easily predict which temp it will be at after let's say a 5cm swipe (I do wish they added a haptic motor somewhere for this, maybe on the steering wheel to make use of the existing haptics of the thumb buttons?). 4. Switching Drive modes - I agree it's really shit, I hate it but it doesnt ruin the experience. I would rather have a stock or gear knob on the center console, screw it even haptic buttons would work if they were heavily textured or with a bump and not on the ceiling :))))). 5. Indicators (position) - both dumb and alright. Since the turning ratio for the wheel is crazy good (meaning a 90º rotation turns the wheels A LOT) I happen to spend most of the time in roundabouts with my finger on the exit indicator button with ease. When I use my combustion car I get annoyed that I have to release the wheel to indicate because of how comfy it is to just not move your hands. That being said, any tighter roundabout or turn and youre cooked - just give up and pray you can reach the button in time and it's the right one. You are encouraged to keep your hands on the wheel like a racing driver, it's the whole point, but do a full rotation and oh boy you best pray. 6. Indicators (auto turn off with rotation) - you can turn this off in the menus. For my driving it's useful, but it can be turned off. 7. Wipers (auto) - absolutely useless, they're shit and whoever decided to not user IR hardware should be fired. Let's use up nice resources of the ECU's Process Loop :). Or do as he said and click the haptic button, and use the scroll wheel (better but stupid still). 8. Lights - the dynamic high beams are really good if you're a driver and from experience they're not bad when you, as oncoming traffic, are within legal EU range. I'd rather not be blinded but it does not make it unsafe. If you're a EU spec cabover oncoming truck whose lights are at the same level as other cars but as a driver you're really high up, youre getting blinded there's no chance. Most highways in EU have railing or bushes which happen to cover the line of sight of the cameras and the truck lights and when the truck is near enough that night time image recognition kicks-in well you've already been flashed 10x by the trucker. 9. Speakers - hella good, agreed by many sound nerds to be one of the best factory speakers. Conclusion: it has downsides, upsides, lots of customization, really dumb things and is a wonderful car to drive.
Do you reckon Tesla's engineers (outside of whoever is in charge of the engine and battery) are not very good, or are they just trying too hard to reinvent the wheel?
I turned off the lane departure _intervention_ after a couple false alarms. I'll still allow it to yell at me, just in case it's ever correct, but I really did not like feeling it tug on the wheel mid-corner when it had no reason at all to do so. I also switched the collision warning to "late" after a couple false alarms with that (I was looking at the car ahead and already moving to the brake, with plenty of time to stop). I really appreciate that these features can be customized or turned off entirely. If something can be done in software, and it's potentially useful, Tesla will probably give you the option. I like that.
As of today, Model 3’s starting price is $38,990 USD, However RWD (base model) trim does NOT qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit. Long Range AWD will qualify for the tax credit, making it $39,990 for 69 miles of additional EPA-rated range, 1.6 second faster 0-60 mph acceleration, and 17 speakers with dual subwoofers.
As an owner, I much prefer not having keys. My phone is they key. You can use your watch as a key and to perform some functions. My phones never get hot from the wireless charging. He didn't talk about the security cameras (auto sentry), the adaptive cruise control that comes free with all Tesla's, dog mode, camping mode, how you book a service (which is awesome), etc.
Auto wiper adjustment can been done on the right dial/ball on the steering wheel. Set it up first. New update is pretty cool. Up and down once you hit the button or stalks in older version. It’s much easier than hitting it on the screen.
16:30 RWD does not have a sub, just 7 speakers up front (3 in the dash, and 8" woofers and a tweeter in the doors) and just 2 speakers in the rear doors. It does sound pretty damn good though for a base system!
Would it kill them to have climate buttons, speedo (or at least a hud) and an indicator stalk? Dangerous having everything on the screen. Seen so many people buying aftermarket speedos. Shouldn't have to.
Good video, just to note that opposed to what was said, you can drag and drop the seat controls or extra AC controls to the bar to be always accessible, and the wipers do not need to be controlled from the screen, after touching the wiper button, the scroll wheel will change their speed controls
1. The trunk auto open only works on iphones right now 2. You can add up to 6 climate controls you like to the bottom to be visible at all times 3. You can use the wiper button then scroll on the right scroll wheel to change the wipe mode 4. The 0-60 speeds are slower than the older rwd model 3s
I would love it if you added in a EQ tuning section into the reviews. Use all your fancy equipment to test and set the stereo EQ to see how good it could be.
6:58 it's totally posible by dragging those icons from the menu to the bottom bar. Then they will be there all the time C: th-cam.com/users/shortsNzFb_tVdTps
100% agree with you on the lack of physical controls, especially turn signal, wipers, and gear selector. At least give us the OPTION of physical controls, Tesla.
Just took delivery of my M3P. Absolutely love it. Not as fun as my Porsche, but a much more comfortable daily driver that can deliver the performance when you need it.
-You can pin climate controls (or whatever you want) to the bar. -The app > keys. It unlocks when you approach. Locks when you walk away. To me, good engineering is adding connivence to the things your do/interact with every time you use a product (aka locking and unlocking). When you drive everyday, you quickly realize how much better the experience is not having to worry about keys. -To the point about the map... it is is powered by google maps. Essentially a re-skinned version of g-maps. I would think you should probably have the person who actually uses the product do the review. It was pretty clear this view was based on little to no user experience with the product.
@CDYTW people don't need to update the car. It does it over the air when it is parked at home. This is where tesla is once again ahead too with ease of use.
2022 owner here, every criticism in this video are true. Except the older models are not well noise insulated (so this one is better). The upgrades from the older models seems really nice, especially ventilated seats! But... The buttons for blinkers and swipe in the screen for reverse and forward is a deal breaker for my next purchase unfortunately. Fun car to drive, don't regret my purchase but if they don't bring these 2 features back, I'll look at other manufacturers. Oh and for the blinkers shutting off all the time when you change 1 lane over, you can fix that in the settings! After a recent update, they changed it to that by default and it's horrible. You can bring it back to working like normal (with a turn signal stalk anyways)
FYI you can customize the bottom of the screen to always show the climate buttons you want. I have my seat heaters, heated steering wheel, and defroster buttons always there. 😉 For the wipers, I agree that the auto function is dumb but as you showed in the video but didn’t realize, you can touch the wiper button and then use the scroll wheel to choose the manual setting. It’s not perfect but once you get used to it it’s quite usable. As for the headlights, they are matrix meaning they can dim individual zones. However, the matrix part wasn’t activated in North America due to regulatory approval but it has been recently rolled out so it will depend on the software version you are running but I suspect it has been fixed by now. Finally, I also hated FSD but I just got a new update last week, beginning of October 2024, and they have completely replaced the coding stack for cities and it actually works really well now. I just drove over 200 miles yesterday and the car drove most of that itself. The point being, you have to understand all of the functions of a Tesla to use it correctly or how you want and it’s constantly getting updates to make it better. Something that other automakers don’t do to this level. Not to mention how much more efficient Teslas are compared to everyone else.
btw you can get some climate controls to stay at the bottom of the screen like the seat heaters, its in the app tray, you just have to hold and drag it i believe you can turn off the turn signal auto-stopping in the settings somewhere (still doesnt excuse the buttons)
I see this come up a lot but honestly I don't think it's a good defence, 90% of the customers who buy it will probably get used to the out-of-the-box experience rather than figuring out how to customise their car to suit their needs. I feel the climate controls should be pinned at the bottom by default, so those who DO tinker with their car can just remove it if they so wish.
@ThatOneDudeWhoPostsStuff yeah that's fair. When I got mine I immediately tickered with all the settings but I do that with any new phone as well so I think it's just me
I had a chance a few month ago to check out BYD's Seal, Atto3, and Dolphin. The Seal is like a Mercedes, but EV. Very nice. Lots of room. The high end accelerates like a rocket. The Atto3 is like a smaller SUV. Higher clearance, bigger inside. Good performance. The Dolphin is similar to the Atto3, but smaller. Also very good acceleration. The large trunk has 3 levels (and I swear the bottom one is below ground level! ;) The high end Seal had a range of 690 km, the Atto3 was 490(?), and the high end Dolphin was 490. The prices were "affordable" as in 1/3rd a tesla. If they start importing to the US (and they are setting up a plant in Mexico to get around import restrictions), tesla is toast. Oh, and Warren Buffett is a big share holder, so the quality / future one can pretty much count on their business abilities.
pretty sure buffet sold again already, but might be wrong. Also, comparing china prices to US prices makes no sense, in germany they cost more than double what they cost in china.
@@mlsasd6494 In Asia they cost just a bit more than China. That has to do with import taxes I assume. Buffett had 10%, and sold enough to cover his initial investment, plus some hefty profits. I think he's down to about 7% last I heard. Wish I had 7% of BYD.
I have one and yeah the car is great but... the two things I don't like is the turn signal buttons and that the poor car does everything with the cameras (blindspot monitoring, rain detection, and everything else) and is prone to get confused, altough have noticed that it gets better with each update... but still would like normal turn signal controls, normal rain detection and normal blindspot sensors would be great
I'm surprised that if Tesla (Elon) has such a weird need to run everything off apps and a screen UI, that they don't just have an API... it's not like they seem overly concerned about security. How about an open API so people can add their connected devices like I dunno... a aftermarket gearshift lever so they don't have to go through the dumb menus to go forward and backwards? Or a turn signal stalk...
Everyone is running stuff on screens because it is cheaper than manufacturing buttons and stalks and other mechanical bits. I could be wrong, but I believe they do have APIs for some things. I know there's stuff on GitHub
There is an API and there are third party products that hook into the wiring harness to interface with the CAN bus. SEXY Buttons is a general example that a good number of people use. Also pretty sure there are people working on a stalk retrofit using some similar things that you can install yourself. Most of Tesla's interiors use clips to mount things so its pretty easy to tear down and replace.
It's great. Absolute deal breaker though is the indicators/blinkers. It's a pain in the ass to find the blinker button on the wheel while you are driving in a roundabout and need to exit (blinking right is mandatory here in Germany).

- The app is not mandetory. Besides the key card, you can buy a fob, and use the screen; like any other car - The automatic trunk works, and the car is not to blame for you not updating - It has 283 hp, not 210 (as shown on screen) or 207 (as said) - You can pin more climate controls to the app bar, like the seat heaters you mentioned - The blinding headlights are not a problem on the new model. @@YankeeMav Maria is the owner of the car.

Regarding the heated seats you can put the icon on the bottom bar an keep it there permanently.

Please do! Blinding lights should be illegal, and most EV owners don't travel dark roads anyways
XD
You also don't have to go into the "menu" to reach the heated/ventillated seats, you can drag them to the bottom and keep it next to climate control.
- There is an option for a "normal", physical key (for opening/closing the car trunk, frunk, doors, windows)
- You can simply rearrange the buttons at the bottom of the screen and put the seat heating there
- I agree, the auto wipers are nowhere near perfect
- Yes, the original options for static headlights are blinding for the others, but if you actually turn on the adaptive headlights then IMO they are better than other manufacturers'
- The suspension is a new adaptive one, that is why it is soft for the potholes and stiff for cornering :)
Why are companies continuing to remove physical controls and control arms behind the steering wheel. That makes it an instant no buy for me.
After 3 weeks I don’t mind the lack of blinker stocks anymore
use the left scroll wheel to select the wipers, you dont have to use the touch screen.
Game changer of a car, however addressing some of the "negative" comments made in the view for things he "wished were there", and some positive ones too:
@4:50 You’re wrong, Tesla white seats/material are easy to keep clean, just use a Magic Eraser.
It’s a great car overall. Some minor hiccups like it can kill you but other than that it’s great
I was early enough to see the bots
The one colossal downside with owning a Tesla these days is being associated with it's owner.
It's different here in Canada, LR can also get federal rebates but only RWD is cheap enough for the BC provincial rebate

@@wtfisgoingon535They don't in my Tesla... In the video he said they do
Fun fact! You can pin some climate controls to the bottom hot bar by holding it down and moving it to the hot bar like an app on a phone.
100% agree on the turn signal buttons. The momentary stalk was bad enough.
In UK RWD has single sub, and long range has two subs
Would it kill them to have climate buttons, speedo (or at least a hud) and an indicator stalk?
Dangerous having everything on the screen. Seen so many people buying aftermarket speedos. Shouldn't have to.
6:54 Tesla got you there, the button bar is customizable. So np adding a button for heated seats 😅
Good video, just to note that opposed to what was said, you can drag and drop the seat controls or extra AC controls to the bar to be always accessible, and the wipers do not need to be controlled from the screen, after touching the wiper button, the scroll wheel will change their speed controls
1. The trunk auto open only works on iphones right now
2. You can add up to 6 climate controls you like to the bottom to be visible at all times
3. You can use the wiper button then scroll on the right scroll wheel to change the wipe mode
4. The 0-60 speeds are slower than the older rwd model 3s

2:20 "I've no clue how tesla did this". By NOT including a SPARE TIRE?🤔
Lots of new cars don't have a spare tire. If that's good or not is still a matter of opinion, but it's not unique to Tesla.

It's fixed months ago with new update. Seem they made this video a long while ago.
@@pipooh1 it’s awesome that they recognized the problem, but based on personal experience, lots of drivers aren’t updating their cars.
@CDYTW people don't need to update the car. It does it over the air when it is parked at home. This is where tesla is once again ahead too with ease of use.
@@pipooh1 So... in other words it's not actually fixed? Because that's the alternative.
@@pipooh1 It doesn't work like that. You can choose to update or not to update your car.
If you really love your Tesla and stalks, they sell aftermarket sets, for circa $400USD
Bro you dont have to use the card if you use the app. It detects when you're close and unlocks/locks automatically
8:50 - Tell us how you really feel, Alex.
btw you can get some climate controls to stay at the bottom of the screen like the seat heaters, its in the app tray, you just have to hold and drag it
i believe you can turn off the turn signal auto-stopping in the settings somewhere (still doesnt excuse the buttons)
There are aftermarket buttons that work through the OBD.
@@aerostorm_ Yeah, they already have a set of aftermarket stalks you can buy to put into a 2024 Model 3. But I loathe how it looks.
I take it you have not heard of S3XY Buttons by Enhance. Check em out, you can set couple of them for turn signals. And much more stuff too.
you know, the indicator buttons aren't that bad when you consider that tesla drivers usually don't indicate...
It's great. Absolute deal breaker though is the indicators/blinkers. It's a pain in the ass to find the blinker button on the wheel while you are driving in a roundabout and need to exit (blinking right is mandatory here in Germany).
The way Canadians say sorry is so endearing and sincere. Wisconsin and Minnesota is Canada lite.

- The automatic trunk works, and the car is not to blame for you not updating
- It has 283 hp, not 210 (as shown on screen) or 207 (as said)
- You can pin more climate controls to the app bar, like the seat heaters you mentioned
- The blinding headlights are not a problem on the new model. You are getting blinded by Model Y and the old 3.
- There is not sub in the rear. It has 2 speakers in the back doors, 4 in the front doors and 3 in the front dash

Cars are for a lot of people like a Iphone, status symbol. They need to have the newest Iphone, same goes for car people, they want to have the quickest car.
Honesty it’s super nice to have a nimble car to get out of bad situations. If I wanna merge into a much faster moving lane of traffic, an EV just does it, while an ICE car takes a while to downshift and get going.
It’s fun and useful for when you need to get in a different lane after a red light lol
@@blewis42002 You can also just pick safer times to merge. Generally the only situation I find raw power to be really helpful (in terms of safety) is when I'm trying to get around slow people on 2 lane highways, and even then you don't need a super fast car to do it safely.
