Back in 2018 I uploaded my CD Library (which I had ripped to my PC) to Google Play Music and transferred them to TH-cam Music when GPM came to an end. This and ad-free TH-cam makes YTM my preferred Music Streaming service.

But even with Apple Music, I often end up just listening to my liked songs because I’m not locked into a single genre. My biggest complaint with YT Music is it doesn't have a fast scroll pop-up on the side when scrolling down list. Yes, you can search for the specific song which might be faster but its just simple UI stuff that this app is missing...
The coolest thing about YT Music is that you can make a new alt channel just for music under the same email 🤌🏼 doesn't mix with your playlists, watch history, all that. Same email, same subscription
@@foblymobly Log into your TH-cam on a PC or Desktop mode on your Mobile browser. In the settings you can create another channel under the same email. Only able to do this in Desktop Mode 🤌🏼

Here's another great YTM feature, samples! Try it out, its awesome and another feature, it remembers your playlist, let's say if you were to save a song to a playlist, you select a playlist from the pop up and the next time you save another song, it saves that song to that playlist without popups
I want to start using YT music but it uses the same subscriptions and playlists as TH-cam, where following an artist = subscribing to their channel. I spend so much time in TH-cam that I don't want it to mess with my subscriptions. As soon as they add a way to separate the two, I'm game.
Me too!! I'm a TH-cam addict but I separate that from my Spotify preferences. I hate it when my TH-cam preferences show up in YT Music. They should give some option to separate those.
That's what's keep me from using youtube music too. I hate it, it's so messy. I don't want a random video I watched on TH-cam appearing on my music lists.
Spotify connect is honestly one of the things i miss in yt music, listening to music on an echo device without pairing or starting a playlist on your watch but play it on the phone are pretty useful features
Spotify Connect is the one thing keeping on Spotify. I use Spotify Connect RELIGIOUSLY. I would LOVE to use TH-cam music, but its lack of its own "Spotify Connect"-like feature is why I don't use it.
i like youtube music because you can literally listen to anything on that app. you can listen to unreleased music and music that was taken off of other streaming platforms. and also sometimes music videos have a version of the song that sounds better than the one one streaming platforms. you can also listen to live versions.
I have a TH-cam Premium such as I love for the 4 years now, I was paying $120 annually, NOW I wants to renew it gonna expire next month & see jumped to $140 a year.. I paid it anyway ,but That's a crazy jump!!!
Half of my favourite songs in my playlist are greyed out in spotify because artists have pulled out. All of these songs are available on youtube music, plus the ad free video experience made me switch from spotify premium to youtube premium.
TH-cam Music is great, but one issue I've found is that sometimes the music I add dissappears after a while from my library, it seems to try to determine which songs I listen to the most and then keeps those songs in the library and deletes the rest, leaving my library at a total of 520 songs, however, my tastes are varied and always end up getting bored, so I created a playlist with all the 920 songs I like, but, the amount of songs actually makes the playlist too heavy and it causes the webpage to fail, the Android app works ok. Not sure if Spotify has this issue too, but, I will be testing Amazon Music to see if this is an issue there as well.
bro it's the same previous year's comparison video footage reused you should have told your audience to rewatch that video , we would have happily done that
I find the sound quality better on TH-cam music. If you compare a song on each platform directly, TH-cam music sounds louder and with more depth. As an artist, I have music uploaded to both, and it definitely sounds more like the mix should on TH-cam Music. Plus, on TH-cam music it give you the option to listen to the track or watch the video. I also agree with other comments that the song suggestion algorithms seem better on TH-cam Music - plus of course you get add-free TH-cam. I had both, but now I only ever use YT Music. TH-cam Music for the win!
This is one of the best sponsored ad tie-in's I've seen. Considering going from Apple Music to YT Music myself, seeing as pay for YT Premium anyway due to the ad-block clamp down. Seems like great value for money!
For me, the feature that keeps me on Spotify and prevents me from switching is the Spotify API. Spotify provides an API to manage my playlists (read or modify my tracks and playlists). I have a huge music library that I keep meticulously managed. With the Spotify API I can do this much better than what the official app or website allows. For people who aren't into programming, this is still beneficial since there are tons of user created tools that are based on the Spotify API.
gyattdamn the tune my music is a lifesaver. i tried it and transferred all my spotify liked songs and playlists to youtube music within minutes. thank you sponsor!
I had a couple issues with TH-cam Music. First, a surprising number of my favorite podcasts aren't even on it. Yeah, I could just use a separate app for those podcasts, but that's annoying. Second, I had a lot of issues with buffering regardless of whether I was on Wifi or my mobile network. At first I thought it might be an issue with my phone. But I don't have that issue with Spotify, TH-cam, or any other app besides TH-cam Music. Still, it's been about a year now since I tried it. Maybe it's time to give it another shot.
And I like TH-cam Music because it saves every song you play on TH-cam into YT Music and besides on YT music you can listen to literally any songs if it’s, sped up, slowed, sped + reverb, slowed + Reverb and even Edit Audios!
You actually listed a few of my personal reasons for my TH-cam music is better. The bundle with TH-cam for TH-cam premium is clutch. I have 50,000 songs from my own collection uploaded. Some of those are songs I can't find anywhere. In the fact that they pull music from TH-cam gives me access to mixtapes, live music and covers They don't officially exist on any other streaming platform.
I switch to YT Music in 2016 and have not turned back. Paying for Premium makes it even better... Also, if you find that long mix by your favorite DJ on TH-cam then you can play it on YT Music w/o issues...
I also like how you can skip to any song you like on TH-cam Music, rather than just skipping 6 songs then having to wait several minutes to skip again just so you can listen to a certain song that you like Whereas the biggest gripe I have with YTM is that if you don't have premium then the service would just randomly pause, interrupting a song, and can be inconvieniant while at an event, such as parties or get togethers
I'm a YTM user myself and the only thing I hate about it is the way they do the 'add to queue' feature. When you add a song in the queue, it goes to the very bottom of the list or sometimes it's nowhere to be found. The 'play next' feature doesn't help either. When you add 5 songs to play next, the last song you added will play next like LIFO 😂
Spotify increased their prices and I was not for it, especially since the taxes add an additional 2-3$. 😂 I canceled my Netflix (never even used it), activated my student benefits, canceled Spotify and told my friend to fiend for themselves or use my account😂😂😂 TH-cam’s gonna be my only subscription❤😂
I tried the TH-cam music for a month and it’s pretty good imo. Spotify as a pretty awesome algorithm but I’ll stick with Apple Music for the audio quality (lossless and Spatial Audio) great video.
I really like the spotify green but I feel YT music is better ( it would be good if the subscribers have the ability to control the interface colour, like I would put green as a app icon and inside the app, but I guess red is the signature of YT)
"Oh man, brace yourselves, folks. I have some inside info that TH-cam Music and Spotify will be phased out in 2026. Why, you ask? Well, it's because everyone will be switching back to good ol' CDs. That's right, CDs will make a comeback, and the music streaming services will be a thing of the past. I know this because I've been collecting CDs for years, and trust me, they're making a comeback. Mark my words!"
I was using Spotify for a while and decided to try use TH-cam music since I’ve seen it on my friends devices. After trying a free trial of TH-cam music app for a month I liked it more cause you can find literally any music, especially covers.
I mainly use Spotify for podcasts, heck i didnt even know TH-cam music had podcast built-in. I wish Spotify wrapped also imcluded the podcasts you've listened to, that'll make the app even better than it already is.
I’m a YT Premium member who couldn’t care less about downloading, lists, or YT telling me what to listen to. I know what I want to hear. Why are so many songs missing? I just pulled up the soundtrack to Atomic Blonde and can only play 6 of 16 songs. The rest are grayed out.
Here's the thing, I was about to renew Spotify yearly subscription just before this video recommendation came. So, I downloaded YT Music and gave it a go. Surprisingly, most of the songs I listen to sound better on YTM than Spotify, it has deeper bass, vibrant mids and clear highs. I don't understand why but as far as I know 320bit OGG should sound similar to 256bit AAC which YTM uses. Maybe it's Spotify encoding issue or something else. Anyway, I switched onto YTM and the bonus is I get ad free videos as well, I'm happy now.
I've never used Spotify. I use TH-cam music because I'm a convert from Google Play music. I find the app painfully cluttered. If it's really less cluttered than Spotify, then...all I have to say is wow!
I have TH-cam Premium family plan I share and Spotify Premium. I pretty much just use TH-cam Premium for TH-cam and not TH-cam Music. I know I have TH-cam Music and in some ways it does have some features that I want that Spotify doesn't have, but I primarily use Spotify because of Spotify Connect and Last FM scrobbling.
My only problems with YT Music is that I wish it saved the playlist to the app itself rather than syncing it with base YT. My playlist are a mess because of it. Also wish you’d be able to use your own custom art for playlist though sort of understandable why that’s not a thing yet, but I refuse to use their AI “art” bs
When you play a song in a playlist of youtube music, it will only have around 50 songs of your playlist in your queue (or up next as they call it in youtube music). When you press shuffle while listening to this queue, it will only shuffle these 50 tracks, not your entire playlist (when your playlist succeeds around 50 songs), Streaming via chromecast vs spotify connect or spotify on a chromecast enabled devive is also a nightmare. Spotfiy has this figured out a lot better than youtube music.
Just switched to TH-cam. The only good thing is the larger library. I’d say for me it’s unusable, TH-cam lets you make a queue for music but it simply doesn’t work and is too difficult to Q songs or add a song to the Q. Spotifys UI is just far superior
Can i sort out songs inside a playlist alphabetically in TH-cam Music? I tried it in my free account and can't find option. That is the only thing letting me stay in Spotify 😅
last I used youtube music and god dammit I just loved him but one thing that made me move back to Spotify is Spotify Connect and youtube music is not available on ps5 if it is available on ps5 I'll easily move back to youtube because youtube music has the best algorithms and how he's evolving I think I'll be happier with them
Both apps have similar sound quality. TH-cam music uses AAC 256kbps and Spotify uses OBB Vorbis 320kbps format 😊 Basically both platforms have the same sound quality
TH-cam Music is just such a good deal. I got a family bundle which cost me approximately only double the price of an individual Spotify subscription. Me and 5 members of my family get to use it alongside the ad-free TH-cam and it makes Spotify’s pricing just look horrible by comparison.
7:21 What? It adds it to your liked music category, which is part of your library. IMO thats better, since i have specific playlists, but the liked list is also just cool and a combined repository of all songs you like
Just checked my settings for the video playback toggle mentioned at 1:56 but I don't see that in my settings. Is that just an Apple thing, or is this video outdated?
I've been wanting to switch over to TH-cam premium family since Spotify is almost about to match that price without offering as much as youtube premium.. But there's so many missing features on TH-cam music...
Can confirm that YT music is great. The TH-cam premium subscription is worth it and more worth it when you do a group account. The algorithm is perfect and the interface is nice. I don't feel the need for other apps.
I used both and for my use case, Spotify seems like a music app, YT Music seems like it's trying to play catch-up with Spotify. As other ppl pointed out in the comments, YT music is laggy on desktop, Spotify app isn't, and it looks nicer. You can't even sort playlists on YT Music web app. You can't add playlist backgrounds. I also use TH-cam itself mostly on desktop, where I got an adblocker, so I already have "premium" for free. Also I'm finding the fact that I can just pick up my phone and resume music where I left on desktop great, or pause it for desktop and vice versa. In this circumstance Spotify has the edge for now. Will revisit the topic in 1 year or so.
You didn't mention that TH-cam music lets you upload .flac files and well play them without having to convert anything. That's how I originally got started with Google music which eventually ended up being TH-cam music
I started using YT Music because I was already paying for YT Premium so it didn't make any sense to pay for Spotify. Also, the app is better, since they actually care about Android, even the tablet version
I’m thinking about getting TH-cam Music. I currently pay for Spotify, which I use a lot. I will be retiring next year and we are moving to Korea for a couple of years. TH-cam TV does not work in Korea, unless I subscribe to a VPN service. Will I be able to play music on my TH-cam music app or online? I also have Sonos and will bring one of my Move 2 with me.
Having switched from Spotify to YT Music a few months ago, I can confidently say that I prefer Spotify hands down. YT music is buggy, has a terrible queue system and I always run into issues when playing music offline or when playing “downloaded” music with a weak connection. While it has some great features (outlined in this video), it’s just such a more difficult experience than Spotify is. That said, the inclusion of TH-cam premium is what’s keeping me. If Google ever drops the Premium and Music joint subscription, I’ll be going back to Spotify
They won’t drop it they will just keep increasing the price. But I agree, YTM sounds great but still needs a tad bit more polishing up before it can replace Spotify for me.
I'm still struggling to see the advantages of TH-cam Music except for the competitive price and good integration with the Google ecosystem/Android. The service that transfers liked songs and playlists is clearly a subscription...
I do actually prefer TH-cam music. I am on premium now and even though its expensive that Spotify, I can still enjoy watching videos or music with no add.
The issues with shuffle or smart shuffle on Spotify made me switch to YT music. The algorithm is a lot better on YT music and I can discover a lot more music or artists
For music enthusiasts, apple music is the right choice between price and quality. Spotify is good but, the quality far behind apple music. TH-cam music UI somewhat unpleasant for me. Im using mac and android phone so apple music is the best choice. Sync library is another benefit. BUT apple music user interface not good as spotify.
Man I really want that upload music feature, and the ability to listen to basically every single niche song I know (since YT has EVERYTHING).. but I ain’t tryna give up that integration and wrapped features that Spotify has 😭 man this sucks
I have used both of these music platforms and overall they are quite similar. However I find that the music quality on Spotify is slightly better than on TH-cam Music. Does anyone else agree with me?
I prefer Spotify for 4 main features that TH-cam Music doesn’t have; sort in playlist, search in playlist, 10,000 playlist song limit, and Spotify connect. 👍
Went from Spotify to Apple Music and now TH-cam Music. It felt much better + I got ads free youtube so it's a 2in1 deal. Audio quality is ass tho but not a big deal bc it still sounds okay
YT Music by far. There is every single remix and song available and the sound is just so much clearer than on Spotify. People use Spotify just because it's popular.

@@foblymobly Log into your TH-cam on a PC or Desktop mode on your Mobile browser. In the settings you can create another channel under the same email. Only able to do this in Desktop Mode 🤌🏼
@@foblymoblyOnly possible in Desktop mode, wether on your phones browser or an actual PC. In the settings there's an option to create another channel with the same Email 🤌🏼
It's tedious but I had to download another browser so the TH-cam link doesn't take me to the app itself
@@Celatum17😂
I understand
If you’re using iOS u can hold on the link you’re opening and choose open in background
That way u will stay on the browser not the app
TH-cam music has EVERY song.
You can create a youtube brand account on the same google account and then you can switch on the yt music app. That will keep things different
@@Arnau26how?
Me too!! I'm a TH-cam addict but I separate that from my Spotify preferences. I hate it when my TH-cam preferences show up in YT Music. They should give some option to separate those.
Same issue for me
That's what's keep me from using youtube music too.
I think this is probably what’s holding me back the most.
i like youtube music because you can literally listen to anything on that app. you can listen to unreleased music and music that was taken off of other streaming platforms. and also sometimes music videos have a version of the song that sounds better than the one one streaming platforms. you can also listen to live versions.
Josh’s annual music subscription reviews are 🔥
I have a TH-cam Premium such as I love for the 4 years now, I was paying $120 annually, NOW I wants to renew it gonna expire next month & see jumped to $140 a year.. I paid it anyway ,but That's a crazy jump!!!
YT music is great. The only thing I’m missing is a dedicated app for Apple TV
Where do you see how many title are in your library?
bro it's the same previous year's comparison video footage reused you should have told your audience to rewatch that video , we would have happily done that
I find the sound quality better on TH-cam music.
I have yt premium, but i don't use the yt music. I just make private playlists right on my channel without the suggestions, clutter, etc.
I also like how you can skip to any song you like on TH-cam Music, rather than just skipping 6 songs then having to wait several minutes to skip again just so you can listen to a certain song that you like
Whereas the biggest gripe I have with YTM is that if you don't have premium then the service would just randomly pause, interrupting a song, and can be inconvieniant while at an event, such as parties or get togethers
True💔
Spotify increased their prices and I was not for it, especially since the taxes add an additional 2-3$. 😂 I canceled my Netflix (never even used it), activated my student benefits, canceled Spotify and told my friend to fiend for themselves or use my account😂😂😂
TH-cam’s gonna be my only subscription❤😂
I tried the TH-cam music for a month and it’s pretty good imo. Spotify as a pretty awesome algorithm but I’ll stick with Apple Music for the audio quality (lossless and Spatial Audio) great video.
The sponsored apps functionality is actually good
the youtube algo is top notch and there's no way i can go back to having multiple ads on EVERY SINGLE youtube video!
I really like the spotify green but I feel YT music is better ( it would be good if the subscribers have the ability to control the interface colour, like I would put green as a app icon and inside the app, but I guess red is the signature of YT)
Truee, i was staying just for the aesthetic lol
Spotify Premium do have equivalents to quick picks in the radio function and the special curated playlists.
For me it comes down to personal preference and for me it's Spotify.
Considering the fact the SESAC are blocking TH-cam videos I'm now currently listening to music on Spotify.
Either some Georestriction (dumb, but YT can't do shit abouut that, its you gov/the artist) or the artist just pulled them down)
TH-cam Music offers a vast library, including music videos and user-generated content, while Spotify excels in playlists and recommendations.
Yeah Spotify connect is a major reason holding me back.
In Bangladesh, TH-cam premium and music bundle only $2/month
Can I get it in India
@@SahilKalim-vt4iwIt is even cheaper in India
Another reason to move to Bangladesh 😊
@@petrzurek5713bet you don't think the same now haha
Why nobody talks about that Lyrics does not work while in Landscape mode in phone?
i love my youtube premiun, better recommendations and more content, the ability to see comments and opinions and listen, COVERS, EDITS, ORGINALS songs
I use both youtube music and apple music
Same here love youtube music and apple music I got both of em on my Android phone never switch back to spotify
You can actually create seperate sub channels under one email! 50 of them to be exact.
The best feature of TH-cam Music subscription is you get TH-cam Premium…
Didn’t know that
When you play a song in a playlist of youtube music, it will only have around 50 songs of your playlist in your queue (or up next as they call it in youtube music). When you press shuffle while listening to this queue, it will only shuffle these 50 tracks, not your entire playlist (when your playlist succeeds around 50 songs),
Streaming via chromecast vs spotify connect or spotify on a chromecast enabled devive is also a nightmare.
Spotifys UI is just far superior
i just released some music and the front runner is youtube music, most plays, and highest pay at .008 per stream. Very pleased.
Can i sort out songs inside a playlist alphabetically in TH-cam Music? I tried it in my free account and can't find option. That is the only thing letting me stay in Spotify 😅
Ok, I feel good that I chose yt music, because Spotify gives features that are useless for me, and yt music has stuff that I really care about
last I used youtube music and god dammit I just loved him but one thing that made me move back to Spotify is Spotify Connect and youtube music is not available on ps5 if it is available on ps5 I'll easily move back to youtube because youtube music has the best algorithms and how he's evolving I think I'll be happier with them
What about sound quality. Which is better for you guys? Sorry if I missed that one out on this vid.
Me and 5 members of my family get to use it alongside the ad-free TH-cam and it makes Spotify’s pricing just look horrible by comparison.
quality wise which is better?
7:21 What? It adds it to your liked music category, which is part of your library. IMO thats better, since i have specific playlists, but the liked list is also just cool and a combined repository of all songs you like
Spotify Connect and Jam's win it for me every single time!
Just checked my settings for the video playback toggle mentioned at 1:56 but I don't see that in my settings. Is that just an Apple thing, or is this video outdated?
You need premium to do that
It's under Data saving in settings for Android
Not only for apple, its also available for Android
I've been wanting to switch over to TH-cam premium family since Spotify is almost about to match that price without offering as much as youtube premium.. But there's so many missing features on TH-cam music...
Can confirm that YT music is great. The TH-cam premium subscription is worth it and more worth it when you do a group account.
The algorithm is perfect and the interface is nice. I don't feel the need for other apps.
You can't beat the integration with TH-cam Premium.
As a metalhead, i recommend TH-cam music over Spotify.
YT Music downloads slowly, I don’t know if it’s a bug. But whenever I download music, it gets stuck. That doesn’t happen with Spotify or AM.
TH-cam in india is a dollar a month
Absolutely amazing value for the price!!!
With a student discount that is
If you want higher quality on YTmusic just change up the bit rate in settings. High bit rate is same as Apple.
Thanks for the insight.
I prefer Spotify for 4 main features that TH-cam Music doesn’t have; sort in playlist, search in playlist, 10,000 playlist song limit, and Spotify connect. 👍
Luckily, I caught a deal when they were collaborating with Hulu so I’m paying 11 bucks a month for Spotify and Hulu
Went from Spotify to Apple Music and now TH-cam Music. It felt much better + I got ads free youtube so it's a 2in1 deal. Audio quality is ass tho but not a big deal bc it still sounds okay
Cool story
YT Music by far. There is every single remix and song available and the sound is just so much clearer than on Spotify. People use Spotify just because it's popular.
the thumbnail is Apple Music and the title is TH-cam music
Basically to make it really simple, Spotify is more refined, but YT music has more variety
