@user-gr2jn6ri2iyou can, but it would vary from user to user. I have only compared between TH-cam Music and Tidal, and it's night and day difference, whether it's through my crap earphones or expensive headphones. TH-cam Musics tracks sound like all the songs are compressed together and pushed through a generic mono or stereo output. On Tidal it feels like every single instrument has its own crisp track and variances in volume. I can easily hear each individual instrument and their placements throughout the songs on Tidal, but through TH-cam Music it's all just compressed together.

I was soundcloud user for the longest time but decided to try this out. really happy so far.
This comparison makes it seem as Spotify is vastly superior whereas the 1 point Tidal has probably outweighs all other points by a lot. Sound quality and the ability to play lossless formats is worth way more than shown here.
Depends on who you ask. While lossless audio may be the most important thing to some people - for some it may not matter at all. For example, I play most of music on bluetooth speakers via wireless connection from my phone and that means I'll never benefit from lossless quality of audio.
At least in terms of what you're paying for. I really don't like how Spotify does things and I haven't for the last 7 or so years. 10 years ago, phenomenal, even their free platform. Not long after that is when they started going downhill and I knew already I did not want to give my money to them. I think I had a free trial of Tidal a few years ago and all I remember from it is that I wish I had had money then to get a subscription just so I could get off of Spotify. I really don't know if I will be purchasing Tidal (it would make the most sense to but YT Premium, but I realy don't like YT as a corpo either) but if I do decide to buy a music streaming sub, I'm thinking it will be Tidal.
Hey! This is really a fantastic video. Have a couple of suggestions. Harley is tremendous. A great presence on camera. I could make a couple of very small tweaks…but really, do not change. Harley, you’re incredible on camera. My other note would be to add the “Tidal” logo and/or “Spotify” logo when you’re displaying a shot of either service on screen. You jump back and forth so often, that the viewer can get a touch confused with which service you’re talking about.
I really wish you would show playlist sorting in the interface section. For example, spotify makes it very difficult to auto-sort playlists in a way you want (song release date, plays, etc.), so I was hoping to see if Tidal's playlist sorting is better or just as lackluster.
TIDAL pay the artist more for 100 million stream's Is 1.2 million dollar's for Spotify 100 million stream's Is 500 thousand dollar's TIDAL Is the highest paying streaming platform than any service today
I'm gonna disagree on that one. Might work well for some people but it's constantly recommended me crap I have no interest in based off shallow similarities to things I do like. Spotify is REALLY hit or miss on recommendations
I've been trying out Tidal with a free trial and I must say, I'm a little underwhelmed. When Spotify introduces Hi-Fi, I'll definitely be making the switch back.
Totally agree with you. I’m on the free trial right now and I am absolutely and utterly disappointed with Tidal’s sound quality. Lossless audio doesn’t mean anything if you got bad EQ. Without good EQ it doesn’t matter if it’s lossless audio. That’s where Spotify does it right. They may not have Lossless audio (yet). But they know how to compensate by having very good EQ. I’m sticking with Spotify. You should switch back. Spotify sounds great now. Imagine how it will sound when they finally go to Hi-Fi.
I used senheiser momentum 3 wireless in the past, the quality between apple music and spotify is clear as day. But i just bought a wf-1000xm5 and try tidal hifi plus for the sony 360 stuff. It kinda weird that between spotify and tidal, they sound the same to me on wf-xm5 😅.
I think it's because it's still wireless so the quality ain't gonna be high, with the headset noise cancelling that sony has that can be plugged is where you gon listen the difference, wireless is just not there yet in terms of quality compared to plugged
Would be weird given the iphone has high bitrate turned off and you need an external dongle now to get the high quality audio, and thata after you plug in your dongle and enable that audio method. The iphone doesnt have a high quality audio chip/amplifier inside it. Good headphones always help bring out details though.
This review is incomplete ; it should include the monetization model (do artist get paid enough), easy access to song info, ability to modifiy playlist from the phone app, access to the exhaustive library, exhaustive New album releases page. All of these features are not present or are lackluster on Spotify and we would like to know if they are available on Tidal, TH-cam Music, etc.
You forgot to mention that Tidal’s Hi-Fi subscription is still cheaper than Spotify’s regular subscription while still offering Lossless sound quality.
Tidal is the better service. Spotify has individual advantages but tbh their algorithms for recommendations arent that great, their podcast browsing is a shitshow, and they pay artists peanuts and are trying to pay them less because they arent profitable. Tidal will outlast Spotify because only one of them is trying to create a survivable business model.
I use both. Even at max quality, some songs sounds better on spotify than tidal. Others tidal.. but listening sessions always lasted on tidal than Spotify. But keeping spotify still cos alot of songs not available on tidal is on Spotify
Great video, a lot of effort went into making this. Respect. One major problem they all have is their meta-data is not validated. Everyday I search for an artist on there, and some new artist has come out with the same name? All of these guys just let it flow. I see two reasons to use Spotify for music: 1. you're on a low budget and can't afford paying for a streaming service but don't want to pirate , so you use the free version of spotify. or 2. the artist you listen to is not popular and their song is only available on spotify for one reason or another.
well, the artists im listening to, mostly indies, they don't upload music on Tidal. I did check Tidal a several months ago and i was disappointed that 90% of the music i listen to are not available on it. So, Spotify is just the only option for me, i just wish they bring Hi-Res audio soon 😮💨
Same. I listen to a lot of Japanese rock bands like The Novembers and Coaltar of the Deepers. They're on Spotify, but not on Tidal. I would like to support Tidal, but Spotify always seems to have the bigger library.
So far my experience with Tidal has been better than Spotify. With regional pricing it's extremely cheaper than Spotify (Spotify was 3.5 USD and Tidal is around 0.5 USD). Also the audio quality is noticeably better
Only loved spotify, then got my money worth with headphone and Spotify started playing songs on repeat and I was tired of not being given new songs to listen too, which is weird cause it used to work so well before. Moved to Tidal and loved the new music I was being introduced too (Yes I know I can manually look for songs lol). Tidal UI looks amazing, the only thing I miss from spotify was the ability to control my music from my phone, whether I was playing on my TV , PC etc. But I'll gladly give that up for new music. and "better audio quality" ig.
Tidal is great value now with its revised price plan. But piling on more and more resolution does not necessarily mean a more pleasant listening experiance. Sometimes i prefer the less detailed but more lush and rounded tone of spotify on my hifi system, especially for jazz vocals and instrumentals. I subscribe to both.
The Tidal App is pretty bad in terms of reliability. It hangs, plays the wrong song from playlists, freezes needing reboots, and most people are NOT going to tell the difference in the sound quality in their cars or over Bluetooth.Switching back to Spotify, the UI is better
If you're on Android and have earbuds or headphones that support the ldac Bluetooth audio codec you can actually stream almost the full audio bitrate since it has a 990 kbps bitrate. On iOS, you can only use the SBC and AAC codecs, AAC being the best of the 2 with a 264 kbps bitrate
One streaming service can be the best for one person and the worst for another. Sorry if you mentioned it although I can't hear it in this video: Spotify has a lot better sync between various devices. You can painlessly switch from listening to music in your internet browser on your pc to listening in desktop app to listening in your phone app. My friend tested this feature in Tidal and said "it sucked" compared to Spotify.
I may switch to Tital if, and only if, it allows me to start playing a playlist, then add cherry picked songs to a separate queue that plays before the rest of the playlist that I'm currently playing, not after, like Google Play Music does.
@@kudaty1808 That's great to hear. I hadn't actually checked. I just grew so used to Spotify being the only streaming service that does it that way that I have tried.
Surround sound and (allegedly) lossless just isn't needed for like pretty much all listeners. And Spotify's popularity makes it so convenient ie services that use the API, or simple stuff like sending a playlist/music to a friend. As a producer with some pretty solid audio gear, I cannot hear the difference between Spotify hq and lossless. It's a myth imo. Only matters when you're doing serious audio work with lossless files
I don't want to undermine your experience but there is definetly a difference, it's subtle but you can pick up more details with flac, so is just as simple as, you want better quality with more details and to enjoy better the music and to be fair to artists? You go to Tidal. Maybe you don't hear the difference because you interact with alot more quality music so when you go to tidal you expect something more notable, but for me a casual listener when I download a flac file and compare it to my mp3 320kb songs, it just notable and again, you pick up alot more details and I find myself aprecciating even more the music I already have
@@Tommo_ Something that allows more through the system (i.e. a Tube Amp; DAC; High Sensitivity Speakers - more than 95dB) without high quality you'll probably never tell the difference listening to FLAC and Compressed. Flac is less compressed if any at all. Therefore it's more revealing on a better system than those systems found in the aisle-way at Best Buy. With a Tube pre-amp/amp it's a lot more revealing. You could compare it like, "surround sound" in a home theater system opposed to just "stereo" sound. That's why people who are serious listeners spend 10's of thousands dollars or more than Best-buy (store) systems. If you're listening to music with a phone, you'll never understand.
Spotify raised their price. as of August 2024, Tidal and Apple music are the same price and cheaper than Spotify while also offering CD and high res audio.
I have Amazon music hd unlimited. If you have a prime account it is $80 a year which is cheaper Spotify and you get hd and even lossless audio if u have the equipment to run it.
@@SoundGuys yeah it's good but the UI is definitely lower quality than Spotify, and there's definitely a lot more bugs especially on Android so I would be expecting that. But it works for me.
I’m tidal because they offer a military discount unlike Spotify )I just wish they had an equalizer like Spotify) and as a poor airman those 5 bucks I’m saving can get me a gallon of gas
TIDAL has combined HiFi with HiFi Plus. No more "quality tiers" ! 👍 Also, Spotify increased prices dramatically in December 2024. I'm considering switching to TIDAL now, especially since Spotify isn't releasing Spotify HiFi !
Honestly Tidal just looks way much better to me, it has less but good looking UI. I use Spotify but after seeing Tidal it's not the same anymore...also the sound quality
Every time the "tiebreaker" went to Spotify is was from an added feature that isn't used 99% of the time and 0% by the majority of users. Cool feature? Absolutely. Applicable to my daily use of the app? No. The weight given to these features within the comparison is skewed considering the values of the average user. BTW, i pay for Spotify. this isn't a bash Spotify comment, it's an observation of the vid.
I'd give an extra point to Tidal because of the respect to the artists. It's one of the bests in the royalties they give to the people who actually do the music, meanwhile Spotify is one of the worse, if not the worst.
You always say Spotify wins. So what’s the point? Also apple has a dedicated podcast app. It’s actually a benefit that they don’t mix it in to their music app because it isn’t music. Go figure 🤷♂️
Used to use Spotify but the sound quality is so far behind Tidal and now Tidal just told me they’re reducing my subscription cost because “ normal” subscription will be the same as HD. If you don’t have a decent stereo at home then sure, Spotify is fine but direct comparisons are so far apart poor old Spotify sounds very low rent by comparison ( yes, ANYONE can pick the difference if your audio system isn’t a POS ) Would ditch Spotify if my kids didn’t use it.
I am using B&W px7 with usbc cable to iPad pro 2021 with Tidal. And I can hear the difference. The sound is better, brighter and mora alive. I have not tried it with iPhone 15 yet but I will. I am user of Spotify but now I am trying Tidal. I did not know the sound difference but now I do. Tidal is way better. If Spotify will introduce hifi quality with the price around the same as Tidal, I will choose the latter. And not through the apple market but directly. Apple charges 30% more than Tidal on their web, so it is a no brainer.
In the last 6 months since you posted this video, Spotify removed the heart button to add a song as a 'Liked Song' / favorite song. The removal of that function is a big issue for me and at least 1,000 other users in a Spotify forum begging them to bring it back. It seems unlikely. It honestly makes me wonder if the developers at Spotify use their product on a regular basis. Many of us have stopped paying Spotify and are looking for an alternative. Tidal appears to be the leading contender. Migrating data is possible, but may result in a one-time fee if you have too many songs. Anyway, it's a big motivator... assuming Spotify doesn't reverse course; or Tidal doesn't similarly remove that function.
After reading all these comments, the worst thing I see is Spotify removing the heart icon. What is the motivation for that? This is the same idiotic thing that Tim Cook does every day.. removing great software or breaking working software. Tidal has better quality music than Spotify and I'll be connecting via a wire to a Burmester stereo in my car so Spotify is a double no go. I'll be testing Tidal against Apple in the car for music quality, available songs and interface. With Tim Cook running Apple I am almost certain Apple interface will suck as all their other software does today. For Eg. Apple macOS Contacts has not been updated for years. It locks up and you can't drag and drop and all my contacts are duplicated, sometimes 10 times per contact. Even the individual notes in each contact somehow got duplicated so in one contact I'll have 20 of the same note. Why? Because Apple will not lift a finger to fix anything that will reduce memory storage on iCloud because they charge for storage. This is why I have 50 duplicates of my photos in Apple Photos. Tim Cook suggs and should have been fired by the board soon after he took over. But liberal companies thrive on failure and this is what Apple is... I hope Tidal is not happy to fail like Apple is.
with regards to the sound quality, AAC 256 kbps is already past perceptual transparency so it shouldn't be a problem I think In that sense, I'd say NOT offering FLAC or other HiFi formats is a clever decision as it saves up on bandwidth as well as storage costs. These savings would then be passed on to the consumers.
Neither. We used to get the music for free or at the very least for almost nothing per track. And we had a file to use. You know what, the music industry survived 30years even with the piracy. How? Theyre ripping you off so bad theyre good for 30years even with next to no sales.😂
Apple music is cheaper than Spotify premium, have a very large library of music, offer lossless and high res audio quality (just like the rest of the competition except spotify), and pays a little bit more to artists per stream. Spotify raised their price and you still don't even get CD quality audio lmao.
Apple Music and Tidal cost exactly the same both in the individual and family plan, so what do you mean? Tidal does pay slightly more per stream, and both are better in every way to Spotify. Although buying digital and physical albums is even better.

True. Convenience tends to be the priority for most listeners. Happy listening! :)
I don't want to undermine your experience but there is definetly a difference, it's subtle but you can pick up more details with flac, so is just as simple as, you want better quality with more details and to enjoy better the music and to be fair to artists? You go to Tidal. Maybe you don't hear the difference because you interact with alot more quality music so when you go to tidal you expect something more notable, but for me a casual listener when I download a flac file and compare it to my mp3 320kb songs, it just notable and again, you pick up alot more details and I find myself aprecciating even more the music I already have
Get a revealing system to listen to music through, THEN come back and talk to us...
@@BumpNrun69 define "revealing", interested to know
@@Tommo_ Something that allows more through the system (i.e. a Tube Amp; DAC; High Sensitivity Speakers - more than 95dB) without high quality you'll probably never tell the difference listening to FLAC and Compressed.
Tidal lowered their prices, Spotify and Tidal now have the same monthly price. I just switched to Tidal.
Spotify raised their price. as of August 2024, Tidal and Apple music are the same price and cheaper than Spotify while also offering CD and high res audio.
Still now I using both of them but I would like to prefer Spotify ❤
i got tidal years ago simply because i didn’t want to use what everyone has, and the green logo for spotify sucks 😂
Im gonna have to switch to tidel becos off Spotify is getting more expensive.
Is better tbh n different
I rather use Apple Music over Spotify. However, Tidal is better and the UI isn’t that bad.
does this guy know what a podcast is? why would i pay for spotify to get a podcast?
I got tidal because I can use it the Djay App n Sound Quality
I have Amazon music hd unlimited. If you have a prime account it is $80 a year which is cheaper Spotify and you get hd and even lossless audio if u have the equipment to run it.
Amazon Music HD is a great choice, too! Perhaps we'll do a video on that as well... 👀 Happy listening!
Also, Spotify increased prices dramatically in December 2024.
I'm considering switching to TIDAL now, especially since Spotify isn't releasing Spotify HiFi !
8:48 tidel military discount frist responder discount but that's for USA
Honestly Tidal just looks way much better to me, it has less but good looking UI. I use Spotify but after seeing Tidal it's not the same anymore...also the sound quality
Tidal have downloaded songs too!
if most people use airpods, isn't spotify audio quality sufficient?
Most casual listeners would say so! :) Happy listening!
Yes but you can tell the difference.
Tidal and it's not even close.
Spotify on TV and Tidal on Receiver
I like Spotify because they have great playlists and features
buying digital and physical albums > paying monthly for a streaming service
Deezer and quboz and amazon next
Plz❤
Выбираете что лучше? А мы теперь аудиокассеты слушаем😂
Thx
Spotify is the most accessible platform
Until Tidal lets you play local files I'm not switching.
Ihave a modded spotify app that doesn't gives me pro features without offline features.
Spotify for the win
Tidal's lack of remote was disapointing for my headless setup.
Tidal takes the win for me.
This guy work for Spotify, tidal is way better
with regards to the sound quality, AAC 256 kbps is already past perceptual transparency so it shouldn't be a problem I think
In that sense, I'd say NOT offering FLAC or other HiFi formats is a clever decision as it saves up on bandwidth as well as storage costs. These savings would then be passed on to the consumers.
I like Spotify playlists
Tidal!
Neither. We used to get the music for free or at the very least for almost nothing per track. And we had a file to use.
You know what, the music industry survived 30years even with the piracy.
How? Theyre ripping you off so bad theyre good for 30years even with next to no sales.😂
Too bad MQA is lossy
Spotify biased review.
Big daddy 💀
Apple?! Hahahaha! No.
Apple music is cheaper than Spotify premium, have a very large library of music, offer lossless and high res audio quality (just like the rest of the competition except spotify), and pays a little bit more to artists per stream. Spotify raised their price and you still don't even get CD quality audio lmao.
@@mapl3mage I get 6 profiles on Tidal for less than one with Apple or Spotify AND they pay artists better.
@@mapl3mage Tidal is superior to Apple in every way, including cost to customer and pay to artists.
Apple Music and Tidal cost exactly the same both in the individual and family plan, so what do you mean? Tidal does pay slightly more per stream, and both are better in every way to Spotify. Although buying digital and physical albums is even better.
@@mapl3mage Unless you take into account that I'd rather pull my hair out than give money to Apple.
