3:40 When Driftor threw the grenade, the trophy system went thru JHub's head to blow it up & killed him. That's the funniest thing I've seen all day. Never seen someone get a kill with a trophy system.
I know, right? It's useful especially on Standoff when taking out derpy snipers and enemies in the middle of the map with my AN-94 w/ grip and target finder, I know I'll run out of ammo eventually.
Scavenger is my favorite perk in the game, i really need to have my lethals and tacticals on me as much as possible and scavenger makes sure that i'm never without any of them. It running a suppressed weapon with scavenger and the fhj-18 is almost as good as having ghost on with the way i play (especially if im lucky)
I think toughness is more of a luxury to get over eventually, like silencers. I stopped using it a while ago and once I got used to not having it, I did perfectly fine.
I've seen every single bo2 in depth video u have. Could you do a scar-h vs swat 556 video please. It may seem to be a irrelevant comparison but after toying around with them I find my self performing very similar in the same scenario with these 2 weapons. In the video compare them as stock. Then as if both were burst fire. And then as if both were fully auto (with selectifire)
All these game modes he's talking about, "Hardpoint," "headquarters," theyre all dead now that the the PS4 and AW are here... Its hard to get into a game of even Kill Confirmed...
+Destructocorps Exactly, There are more people without map packs than there are people with map packs. Therefore the game has a larger amount of people to pick for matchmaking.
I almost always use scavenger simply for survival sake. I like the weapons I spawn with and would rather not have to switch them out after running out of ammo. Like you mentioned, it's perfect for guns like the Scorpion because they bleed ammo, and c4 all day. Great vid!
You make a pretty good point. More importantly, what seperates the average player from the good player is the ability to size up the enemy team in the beginning of the match. Flanking is most effective when everyone is running the same lanes in a map leaving others open, if that is not occuring, don't bother flanking. Same thing goes for any other playstyle, you have to adjust to the team you are playing.
Driftor, you always talk about things from the gunners perspective, where do you think knifers fit in? A lot of people like to do that, I really liked the most recent episode as well, on flanking, could you do a series of flanking strategies on certain maps or game types, I think that would be cool.
I guess for less skilled players who don't go on longer streaks don't need scavenger (aka driftor) but I usually average one merciless or one orbit v sat per game so I use scavenger on nearly every class. If I had to choose between toughness and scavenger I would choose scavenger every time though I usually use a wildcard so that I can use both.
I actually really love both of these perks. Scavenger is near essential for classes aimed at larger scorestreaks. And i use cold blooded (occasionally) on stealth classes. I like getting into people's spawns with it. The lack of a red name makes enemies unsure if I'm an enemy or friendly and that second or so of questioning makes a huge difference. That being said, I usually run perk 2 greed with toughness and scavenger
@allistor, you are right, I generally actually run DW as a primary and on bigger maps keep an SMR on my back for long range if needed. I just really really like that gun and often get long shot medals, 1 burst long shots, even with the surpressor on, so I just want to stay competitive in all game modes as best as I can. Ironically, it was the Drift0r video called "unchain yourself" that inspired me to just go for it
Interestingly, the sensor grenade still works against players with Cold-Blooded. Your opponent does not show up on the radar, but the grenade still flashes that red laser and beeps.
True. You've got to rock a completely different setup for HC game variants. Toughness really doesn't rank high on importance for me with HC since 90% of the time, one bullet does you in. Usually, I've found any perks to do with speed, agility and 'battlefield vision' (i.e. Engineer) take precedence over the more 'robust' core perks, like toughness & blind eye.
Never tried sensor grenades but now that I think about it I bet they'd be great if you had two of them equipped on an R870 class w/ Scavenger. Hijacked for example, you could rush from spawn point, toss a sensor grenade, and easily rush in with confidence knowing where everyone is so you can plan your attack with confidence. Plus sensor grenades show people using ghost! They don't show up as a triangle allowing you to tell where they're going but they do show up as a dot. Might try it out.
Drift0r can you start putting all your in depth videos for BO2 into a playlist to make it easier to find older in depth episodes I or someone else might have missed.
when that happens you just don't see the laser sight glowing straight as you usually do, but the effects of the attachment (steady aim in previews cods) will be the same as if you hadn't got empd. I belive Drift0r is the one who proved that, so you should check his vids out.
I love how you throw a concussion at the hardpoint and it is shot by the trophy system which endeed up killing jhub. I am probobbly the only one who noticed this but it made my day!
Same, I need it just because when I make a class I will only use that gun. And having the ability to pick up lethal and tactical makes me use them more.
I used to insist on toughness just like driftor, but now I see it as kind of a band aid. If you get used to not playing with it, you free yourself up one slot. Scavenger is really nice if you bring some equipment.
Haven't really noticed any negatives without toughness. Have seen others not use and it and makes no difference in their kills. Gun sway to the left and bullets still hit center of where reticle should be. Same as shock charge, enemy gets shocked and still is able to kill someone. Scavenger is a must for me. Helps supply my C4 and MSMC
Scavenger allows you to pick up two bettys/claymores at once, without a wildcard. Throw down a betty, run over a scavenger pack and then pick betty back up. Can be useful for bottlenecking high traffic areas and covering multiple flanks.
I run Scavenger and Cold Blooded, i've gotten used to the flinching, probably because my tactic is to flank, occasionally do i go head on. I do play with a variety of guns but my perks stay the same in every class, except maybe one, Ghost, Scavenger, Cold Blooded, Engineer (A must for me) and the one that changes is Dexterity or no Perk 3 Greed
i find that toughness works best with accurate powerful guns like lmg ar and some smgs. Fast hand is for shotguns and pistols maybe a quick scope class could use it. cold blooded is for the super stealth guys in search
Somehow I go most ham with a long barrel/extended clip straight pistol. Not having to plan and/or decide to switch weapons is liberating, being conservative with the dual wield ammo, so I just tear ass point and shoot
Hey Driftor, if you need ideas for the in depth, why not do an episode on your recommended classes for each specific game type, tdm, kc, snd, and so on. You could probably break it down into 4 or 5 episodes if you cover every game type. Just a suggestion. Keep doing what you're doing, love the content.
I use b23 as primary and need all 3 rounds to hit, so I use toughness on every class except dual wield. As for my knife only classes (2) scavenger is a must have or you don't live long if you lose your hawks in the gd bushes
Definately going to have to disagree with you about toughness > scavenger. I main quickdraw AR's (its like giving a smg fmj+longbarrel+grip) and I rely on tossing flash/studs around corners. Quickdraw AR's are pretty scarce on the ground so being able to replenish my ammo and tacticals is essential.
Yeah, I can't go even sniping without Toughness, it helps so much! For sone reason on BO I never really needed Hardend Pro for the Toughness affect, it is handy though.
I mainly use Scavenger and fast hands. I hate the slow tactical and lethal speed. Though the combo is mainly for the pistol only class with claymore (it's actually very useful on this class). I like hiving a ample supply for my pistol and when I need a quick reload behind enemy lines I would place a claymore to cover me. Also no I don't camp with that class nor with any class. Claymore is great for running around if you are smart with the placement.
I use Scavenger in every class. Else I run out of ammo before my VTOL. But then again each of my classes except for the anti air is the same. A weapon and the same 6 Perks. Just works best for me. And has the benefit that every class is also a kniferun class.
It would be nice to be able to change your weapon attachments while playing. And so, as you unlock a new att, you wouldn't have to wait til the end of the match.
driftor if you c4 is the best equipment in the game and if you are going for nuclears or swarms ( big scorestreaks) then scavenger is the second best perk in the game (#1 is toughness)
I always run scavenger because I had a time to where I ran out of ammo and it pissed me off because I was on a beast ass streak so every class has it now
I don't use it since scavenger and toughness are so amazing but hardwired would be very useful on those maps where you get people spamming emp grenades and or where people are using CAUV consistently.
Primary with two attachments. Perk 1 and Perk 2 Greed. If not silenced, Hardline and Flak Jacket. If silenced, Hardline and Ghost. Perk 2: Toughness and Scavenger. Perk 3: Tac Mask or Dexterity.
Wrongo, the MMS is actually a really effective attachment for players who wish to catch campers, the Target Finder was originally meant to as well, but the camping players kinda stole it. The Dual Band is very useful in Maps where shadows and cover are plentiful (I.E. Drone.)
Classes with grenades, use scavenger, it really comes in handy. Classes without, use extended mags, and your good to go unless you are going for a nuclear or something.
You have to realize that Drift0r's not calling people who play Hardpoint Tryhards. He defined what he means when he says "Tryhards" earlier this year. When he says this, he's talking about the people who will have the most overpowered stuff they can on all of their classes and they always have to win and if they don't they rage and cry when the match is over. Just because you play Objectively or use powerful gun combos does not make you a tryhard, it's your attitude that does.
Yes, yes, & yes -- Dual Band, Target Finder & MMS. On Hijacked 9/10 I'll use FAL + MMS... Scavenger is a MUST for AR's and especially if you're going for CAMO's and if you like many go on long killing streaks -- I prefer my own weapons and how they're setup and feel. On TDM/KC many times I throw around a ridiculous amount of Bouncing Betty's everywhere using Scavenger not to mention Concussions or Flashes, etc. Depends on the player and yes I also use Cold Blooded, but I shot at everything.
Scavenger is useful for sub machine guns, i use scavenger all the time. i don't use toughness because i usually get the first shot using quickdraw or dexterity
I think the guns are pretty well balanced in this game, as well as nades and tacs. But the perks seem to range from absolutely vital to some being totally useless. I think some perks could use a buff
Scavenger has always been my go-to perk, in MW2 aside from a EBR battle rifle class (M-21 with ACOG), M-16 Fun Time (the name is self-explanitory) and one other class, I run Scav on, same with Blops2, its almost a must with SF SWAT, 937.5 RPM chews through ammo, and I spam stuns and Semtexes, so it works for me more then Toughness, I just HATE how late you unlock it though, BTW I don't use OMA in MW2,
Yes i know, but the nvg gives an even more distinct target, yellow on a green background, it doesnt get more distinct than that. The point of my question was to say why would nvg not be considered a "try-hard" sight while the target finder does, when it does the exact same thing if not more.
I like to mostly always use c4 & emp grenades, you have to use scavenger with those. I used toughness for a long time then haven t used it for a long time, I guess I wanna go back to it after watching this vid.
Actually, your partially right grenade launchers/ rocket launchers don't use a clip but some grenade launchers do use a magazine. A clip is the rail sort of device you use to load a m1 garand or a Russian sks to put shells into the "magazine". A 9mm, .45 cal belt fed lmg etc that stores the rounds in a metal sort of case if you will, is considered a magazine.
I'm a little bit addicted to scavenger, so I'm always running it, I burn through ammo pretty quick, either because I'm killing a lot of people or just plain missing my shots, so scavenger is a must for me. I hate running low on ammo it scares me.
I normally don't use toughness at all. I use cold blooded because the enemy can't kill what they can't see. I use scavenger because if you play time consuming game modes, singer or later you'll run out of ammo. Scavenger allows you to keep your custom gun
great episode as usual but you said that scavenger packs dont show if u kill with expolsives a rpg is a explosive and i find if you get a kill with a direct impact you get the pack same with the smaw and also with direct impacks from explosives like c4...
I've run Scavenger on pretty much all of my classes since MW2. When ever I pick up another players weapon off the ground, I tend to die within few seconds. I don't know what kind of a curse it is or something, but it just happens. I pick up a enemy weapon and boom, a random car blows me up. I puck up a enemy weapon and BOOM, I get shot through the wall with a sniper. It's really weird. Plus I like using my own gun anyway and I tend to burn away my ammo quite fast. Extra equipment is nice too.
I've finally started using the target finder just to complete the challenges and it really is easy mode. Even without the red triangle it's easier to kill people.
Toughness is really a bit of crutch. Scavenger is hugely useful, and essential for a few of the weapons with high fire rates, particularly the Type 25 and Skorpion. Unless you have very short life spans, and won't likely run low on supplies. I'd also say that anyone who is reasonably good with stealth classes will find scavenger more useful than toughness. After all the point of stealth is for the enemy to be unaware of your presence, so your targets shouldn't be firing back
its for the purpose of game balancing. sentries and AGRs are still simple to avoid and destroy. i loved the cold blooded in previous COD also but we cant have it all. unless you want stuff like sitrep pro from MW3 back
i play on wii, i dont use toughness if i have something better unlocked. I never notice any recoil or jerkiness when hit, and i dont know whether its just me, or a byproduct of the wiimote aiming system. I know alot of recoil is negligible with wiimote simply because my wrist automatically moves down, so if you wouldnt mind, would you do an in depth all about wii and its differences? thank you!
So, using Toughness on a standard shotgun class is better than Scavenger and Cold-Blooded? I digress. Probably so for the KSG, but the others receive a minuscule benefit from the perk.
Yeah, or have a scorestreak that drops a crate carrying all the attachments for a gun which when walked u to would say "Hold X (Or Square) to equip (Fast Mags)
Well, what he means is that there is a difference between a clip and a magazine. A clip is like the speed loader for a revolver or the cartridge that you put into a M1 Garand. A magazine is the longer ammunition holder that you put into about every gun in Black Ops 2. He's not an idiot, he's just using terms that most people don't know the difference between.
you said that whenever an enemy dies on the map you can pick up a scavenger pack..that's not true, you only get a scav pack when you kill someone with non explosives, comeon driftor you should have known that :P
To answer your question without Drift0r having to do a silly 30 second in depth, yes. Same goes for non-lethal equipment. If you equip only 1 concussion grenade, for example, scavenger will fill the second slot. So running a lethal+danger close+another lethal+scavenger is pointless. Equip just one lethal.
3:40 When Driftor threw the grenade, the trophy system went thru JHub's head to blow it up & killed him. That's the funniest thing I've seen all day. Never seen someone get a kill with a trophy system.
I am personaly a scavenger addict but will sometimes use perk 2 greed
me 2
I'm the opposite. I can't live without scavenger.
Just run a wildcard and take toughness and scavenger. Now I don't flinch or run out of fun.
I think toughness is more of a luxury to get over eventually, like silencers. I stopped using it a while ago and once I got used to not having it, I did perfectly fine.
I use scavenger all the time on most of my classes.
My Black Ops 2 RTC has ended! Barracks video is up! Take a peek, cheers!!
The last bo2 in depth is long ago. Hes making aw in depths now
great episode driftor! really good quality. i hope you are feeling better.
All these game modes he's talking about, "Hardpoint," "headquarters," theyre all dead now that the the PS4 and AW are here... Its hard to get into a game of even Kill Confirmed...
+Kars NL (KarsDePowner) that doesn't lower the numbers of player. Only let's you join games which have those too.
+Destructocorps Exactly, There are more people without map packs than there are people with map packs. Therefore the game has a larger amount of people to pick for matchmaking.
2-3 years later it's pretty hard to get in a ground war match.
I almost always use scavenger simply for survival sake. I like the weapons I spawn with and would rather not have to switch them out after running out of ammo. Like you mentioned, it's perfect for guns like the Scorpion because they bleed ammo, and c4 all day. Great vid!
Coldblooded is "Anti Tryhard" perk
You make a pretty good point. More importantly, what seperates the average player from the good player is the ability to size up the enemy team in the beginning of the match. Flanking is most effective when everyone is running the same lanes in a map leaving others open, if that is not occuring, don't bother flanking. Same thing goes for any other playstyle, you have to adjust to the team you are playing.
I play without toughness and I'm good
If you use toughness, you will be better. I am good without it, but once I tried toughness, I did even better.
Wolf Yiu I only use toughness when I have my snipers
Camping or quick scoping
Scavenger is one of my favorites, with betties and/or black hats.
Very good combo!
Anyone Engineer fans over here?
Me I love that perk
Michael S. I thought you would! So useful. How do you use it?
TheUKNutter I'm one of them. Helps to detect enemy scorestreaks and equipment.
Driftor, you always talk about things from the gunners perspective, where do you think knifers fit in? A lot of people like to do that, I really liked the most recent episode as well, on flanking, could you do a series of flanking strategies on certain maps or game types, I think that would be cool.
The only vid I don't totally agree on 😐
I guess for less skilled players who don't go on longer streaks don't need scavenger (aka driftor) but I usually average one merciless or one orbit v sat per game so I use scavenger on nearly every class. If I had to choose between toughness and scavenger I would choose scavenger every time though I usually use a wildcard so that I can use both.
Toughness is overrated.
That being said, I usually run perk 2 greed with toughness and scavenger
not a single tryhard will use the mms.
its amazing when a try hard uses it..complete destruction.. look up tbnrfrags legal wall hack
@allistor, you are right, I generally actually run DW as a primary and on bigger maps keep an SMR on my back for long range if needed. I just really really like that gun and often get long shot medals, 1 burst long shots, even with the surpressor on, so I just want to stay competitive in all game modes as best as I can. when that happens you just don't see the laser sight glowing straight as you usually do, but the effects of the attachment (steady aim in previews cods) will be the same as if you hadn't got empd.
I belive Drift0r is the one who proved that, so you should check his vids out.
I always watch these before bed. They put me to sleep so quick :)

Man gotta say i love ur vids been very useful to watch and believe me i watched them all :P
I want too see the next episode. This is gold

Agreed. Worst think about no perk kills.
Closely followed by having no dexterity, and no quickdraw when doing no attachments.
It would be nice to be able to change your weapon attachments while playing. And so, as you unlock a new att, you wouldn't have to wait til the end of the match.
The grenades for the underslung launcher are called noob tube ammo, cause the underslung was realy overpowerd in previous CoD games.
It's good to see you've found some topical ideas again unlike blind eye
In depth episodes are my favorite
driftor if you c4 is the best equipment in the game and if you are going for nuclears or swarms ( big scorestreaks) then scavenger is the second best perk in the game (#1 is toughness)

Drift0r are you going to do an in depth of the emp grenade? I would just like to know the stats of its radius/ effective ranges
I think the guns are pretty well balanced in this game, as well as nades and tacs. But the perks seem to range from absolutely vital to some being totally useless. I think some perks could use a buff

The point of my question was to say why would nvg not be considered a "try-hard" sight while the target finder does, when it does the exact same thing if not more.
I like to mostly always use c4 & emp grenades, you have to use scavenger with those. I used toughness for a long time then haven t used it for a long time, I guess I wanna go back to it after watching this vid.
i use target finder mainly for its zoom rather than its true ability. im used to the tunnel vision from using thermal sights in MW3
please continue doing these really useful map guides when you stop doing perks.thumb this up so drift0r can see
Actually, your partially right grenade launchers/ rocket launchers don't use a clip but some grenade launchers do use a magazine. Do an in-depth on the awareness perk and the dead silence perk.
Also you can still unlock scavenger packs if you make a direct hit with the rockets.
I'm a little bit addicted to scavenger, so I'm always running it, I burn through ammo pretty quick, either because I'm killing a lot of people or just plain missing my shots, so scavenger is a must for me. I hate running low on ammo it scares me.

I use scavenger because if you play time consuming game modes, singer or later you'll run out of ammo. Scavenger allows you to keep your custom gun
B23R is better because you unlock it earlier.
And with that burst fire tip, you could shoot as fast as the KAP40 (maybe not faster, but close)
great episode as usual but you said that scavenger packs dont show if u kill with expolsives a rpg is a explosive and i find if you get a kill with a direct impact you get the pack same with the smaw and also with direct impacks from explosives like c4...
I really don't use Toughness cause i always burn through ammo and i flank.
It happens when you're between the grenade and the trophy system. I believe the thropy sys shots some kind of shotgun at the nades.
Also cold blooded helps staying alive when lighting strikes and hell storm and Lode Star as u don't get the diamonds highlighting u on the map
I like how scavenger refreshes my claymores. Helps me camp when I need to.
What do you think about Scavenger along with Fast Hands and equipment? This would give you alot of explosives, stuns, etc... to spam.
hey I'm watching your bo2 in depth again for a little refresh and I noticed there is no trophy system in depth can u please make one? thanks!!!
I play Hardcore 95% of the time
Would you still so strongly recommend using Toughness?
Toughness is really a bit of crutch. Scavenger is hugely useful, and essential for a few of the weapons with high fire rates, particularly the Type 25 and Skorpion. Unless you have very short life spans, and won't likely run low on supplies.
I'd also say that anyone who is reasonably good with stealth classes will find scavenger more useful than toughness. After all the point of stealth is for the enemy to be unaware of your presence, so your targets shouldn't be firing back
its for the purpose of game balancing. sentries and AGRs are still simple to avoid and destroy. i loved the cold blooded in previous COD also but we cant have it all. unless you want stuff like sitrep pro from MW3 back
I usually couple scavenger with those frisbee thingys that jump and boom, and shock charges
cold blooded for me is mainly for my AA class. Very nice for shooting down lodestars, vtols and such.
All I heard was tryhard this, tryhard that, pro this, pro that. So much for the usual In Depth episode.
i play on wii, i dont use toughness if i have something better unlocked. I never notice any recoil or jerkiness when hit, and i dont know whether its just me, or a byproduct of the wiimote aiming system. I know alot of recoil is negligible with wiimote simply because my wrist automatically moves down, so if you wouldnt mind, would you do an in depth all about wii and its differences? thank you!
I use scav and toughness on every class. Coldblooded and scav when knifing. Colblooded also good for ninja defusing
So, using Toughness on a standard shotgun class is better than Scavenger and Cold-Blooded? I digress. Probably so for the KSG, but the others receive a minuscule benefit from the perk.
Thanks for making the app ,Drift0r
The laser sight will just turn off but it will not affect your improved hip-fire accuracy
