Great video concept and Lovely voice-over.
SELL the GMT root beer (I prefer some of the other GMT colors), Submariner Date (too similar to your no-date), and 41mm DJ (too big). This will free up a lot of funds for future purchases. Don’t be afraid of loss (look up “Sunk Cost Fallacy”). These funds might be better spent elsewhere.
KEEP the Submariner 114060 (such a versatile steel sports watch, and a gift), 36mm DJ blue dial (perfect size, perfect color, perfect configuration) and the 36mm DJ palm dial (discontinued, and now rare, you will regret selling this) and the 36mm Explorer (perfect back-up beater watch, and no profit in selling)
SELL all the Tudor. Your Rolex can do everything that Tudor can, but in an elevated style. Just take the loss and chalk it up to a learning experience.
You are accumulating too many Rolex/Tudor. Consolidate them, then get a Patek, Vacheron, or AP, or upgrade to a higher-end Rolex. It will be worth it.

I agree with all of your points @sc1. I just upgraded to a Code 1159 and it is on another level than Rolex. Although I still ❤ Rolex.

I'm glad to see someone made a video like this. There is an illusion that you keep all out make money with every Rolex sale, this is far from true. The loss with Tudor is crazy. Better to take more time in selecting purchases if you aren't ok with losing money.

It seems Casey has not found the happiness he expected from buying all these watches. I think Casey should sell everything. The only ones I would suggest to keep are the Tudor Black Bay 58 Blue and the Rolex Explorer. These are small enough to look good on his wrist and have enough versatility to suit various settings. Nobody really needs so many watches. Just three that can be worn in rotation and maybe one or two other pieces for special occasions is good enough. Anything beyond that can be taken as a measure of one's ability to control impulse. Watch collecting should be fun, but it should also be practical. The question of practicality usually arises in the latter stages of the collecting journey. The fact that Casey is considering selling all his watches means he has already reached the mature phase of his journey. Whatever watches he decides to keep or purchase from here onwards will be the ones he gets most joy from wearing.
Thanks for the good advice! KC* (not Casey) does have too many pieces but selling them all seems a bit too extreme? A BB58 + Explorer combo is a good shout, they pretty much cover all the scenarios that one would need a watch for!
I love the bike ride story ! I’m not sure which to sell - the 41mm DJ and the sub date seem the most sensible given he effectively has 2 of each.

It’s good that you struggle to sell any. That means you got them for the right reasons. We all have a watch we loved and then stopped wearing. One we bought on a more of an impulse and one that we love because of the memories around it. A fantastic collection.

The AD's offers on the Tudor and Omega are daylight robbery. I would encourage directly trading with people - the same goes with the Rolex

Some really good analysis here and finally someone who is showing that not all Rolex models can make you a tidy profit. It appears you may have had quotes from official dealers, as opposed to watch platforms like Watchfinder/Chronohunter or Chrono 24? I would be interested to see how much higher you could sell for on C24, even with their fees deducted. I have sold several watches on the platform, including Oris/Tudor/Tag Heuer and Breitling and generally find I can get close to what I paid for them or even a small profit depending on the watch and condition. Definitely would recommend checking it out. Love the channel so please keep up the great work.

Great video, and I’d suggest he has a few duplicated watches that should go, like the Rolex date and 41mm DD. I’d also sell the Tudor s as he has the Rolex equivalents, so not sure why they would get wrist time ? The Speedy offers something different so I would keep that, as well as the palm tree gold day date for similar reasons. The Wedding watch sub and Rootbeer both look like keepers to me. I think the prices seem to reflect that the watch market is correcting back to normal, with most watches losing some value as you leave the AD door. I would recommend that if he wants to buy a trinity watch such as a Vacheron to look at the secondary market, deals to be had.
Thanks for the great advice Gavin, I'd agree! He does wear the Tudor though, as it tends to be his holiday watch as he doesn't want unwanted attention in an unfamiliar place, so I guess the Tudor has a place in his collection - but he certainly doesn't need all three! 🫢
Better to sell the watch especially if use and size is not correct for him. Only thing KC needs to worry is keeping his beautiful and lovely wife 😊.

First off the Explorer 1 stays no matter what. Never sell that one. Dude that is an utter classic. The ones that go right out the door are the 41mm blue datejust, Sub Date, 2 tone motif dial, and maybe the speedy. Maybe. I’d keep the Tudors since resale is so bad. Not worth hocking. Sounds like you wear the Rootbeer a lot I’d keep that one.
I just got the BLNR too and it’s a collection killer.

My watch was purchased 2 years ago from MAMACOO and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.

Impressive collection KC! I would offload DJ41 and one of the 2 sub, probably keep the sub date as you have a wide collection in bb58. Is too boring to have only Rolex so Omega and Tudor shld have their place and more suitable travelling companions. bb58 is often my first choice when i travel. You know why 😉

I guess it is a relatively recent concept, but I'm way too old fashion to treat watches as "investments" so I only buy to enjoy!

He was focusing more on his Cantonese watch channel last month so had asked me to step in for this one 😆
Looks like he was trying hard to stay in his AD's good graces. Was he trying to get a Daytona? Perhaps he bought whatever his AD offered and he didn't say no in fear of not getting a call for the watch he really wants. Now this is the result of what many fortunate guys decide to do. I see a lot of buyer's remorse. He's lucky he purchased these timepieces from the AD, and not suckered like many other guys who paid 2/3 times more over retail for a Rolex. As a collection this is a great collection, but if he's banking on investment collecting he's losing. Many guys are learning the hard way, deservingly.
He just buys the pieces that he genuinely wants and it has nothing to do with building a spend history nor seeing them as investments. As his collection grows, he now realises that a lot of pieces aren't getting worn but he still likes them all and therefore is struggling to downsize 🤭

Seems like the current explorer 36 is losing its shine and hype that everyone is trying to let go and move on. Larger explorer or vintage explorer 36 is still the way to go, glad that i did not buy into the hype and decided to keep my Explorer 39, the current explorer 36 dimensions are just way too far off.
The 39/40 is thr way to go. The 36 is tiny, even for a 36
I can see there are quite a few ADs where the Explorer both 36mm and 40mm are readily available for purchase now. This may explain why some "collectors" are starting to "dump" their Explorers 🤔
No need to sell the Rolex.. just sell the Tudor and Omega. Just my opinion ❤
