      I used to collect Rolex's [sold them all before the boom LOL] - I now collect vintage Seiko 5's. I get no less joy out of a great condition rare £100 Seiko 5 than I ever did from a Rolex.
      If you are a watch enthusiast the price is not part of the attraction.

    Citizen is one of the rare fully integrated watch companies. The new 0100 movement is accurate to ±1 second per year! A truly amazing watch company that is miles ahead of any of the other watch brands mentioned in this video.

    • @markiangooley
      @markiangooley 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I bet that Citizen will NEVER offer one of their 8-megahertz quartz movement watches, even a lower-grade one with a reject crystal not good enough for an 0100 and maybe +-5 seconds a year, outside of Japan. I’ve worn a radio-sync Citizen for nearly a decade and I resent their apparent unwillingness to sell their most beautiful and highest-tech watches outside Japan.

      Its that lifestyle thing that is so annoying. Its so vapid and lacking in substance. What is especially irritating is how Procuck Micheal constantly talks about how the watch company "listened to him" and made changes to the watch.
      Like dude, we know that companies offer customization on their watches if you are willing to pay. He acts like he has special access and influence when all he did was pay for a service that is provided to customers regularly.

    The tissot prx powermatic is easily one of the best sub 1000 dollar automatic watches you could buy. I think if you wanted a one watch collection for under 1k there you go. Versatile, water resistance for what 99% of people need it to do, good level of finishing/detailing, and comfortable. It’s amazing how much it hands with watches above it’s price point but does have a few short comings of course compared to watches 5x it’s price. For instance the dial does just not look as high def at instant glance like my omega or Rolex.

      @@mohamedfarsin7305 the sea star is also very impress for the price and has some cool models available. I believe it even has a hydrogen release value that you don’t see a lot for that price point. For me since I already had other dive watches when it was time for me to buy a tissot I went with the PRX. It is more versatile, you can still take it swimming although no screw down crown, I think it’s a better looking watch, and it’s just fun. You can’t go wrong with either but that’s what I did.

    Actually, Powermatic 80 in that awesome Tissot PRX is upgraded and modified ETA 2824-2. It is not based on Swatch System 51. Tissot actually got System 51 in their offering in their Classic, V8 and Everytime collections, and it is called Tissot Swissmatic. Apples and oranges, really, because Powermatic 80 is based on a trusted and tried architecture, it is fully serviceable and is reserved for Swatch Group's mid-to-higher-end offerings. On the other hand, Swissmatic or System 51 is an entry-level movement, it is not serviceable (if it breaks, a movement swap is required) and it is aimed toward young watch lovers as their first mechanical watch. Other than that, great video and channel!

    • @TalkingTimepieces

    as somebody with skinny wrist problems I have found that while the modern resurgence of the 70's aesthetic would be great if these watch companies didn't go and hit the supersize button when dusting off the old plans since my current watch is a king seiko vanac 5256-6010 and a modern version would be excellent due to it suffering from 70's band quality and design but it would end up being to big for my wrist if a modern version was made.

    I owned a Citizen Eco Drive Skyhawk for about 20 years- lost it in a car fire in 2018. They still make that line, but the one I had was a much simpler look than the current Skyhawk line. In the time that I owned it, I don't recall ever having to change the minute hand. It had built-in DST functionality, so in all the time I owned it, I only ever had to switch DST on and off. It was pretty beat up by the time I lost it, but ever since then I haven't had a single watch that I've liked enough to be my only watch. By the way, Seiko also makes a handful of Solar watches.

It kept poor time and a watchmaker who cleaned it said that the bearings were worn and it needed more service than I really wanted to pay for then. Nice video - intriguing content - provocative. That's great! But being (as I am inclined to be) ever attentive to little details, the mic switch on that Shure 55SH is in the 'off' position. Would you please flip the mic switch to the 'on' position? Drives me nuts!! :-)

    The khaki is one of my very favorite watches. It has the most solid crown and feels like you could drop it off the second story and it would be fine. The timex Q looks like it would not survive the drop, but is a fine choice indeed 😮

    I have to agree with the cohost about the PRX size. I wear 40mm watches and felt the PRX was a bit of an odd fit which is a shame. I tried it on in-store along with the Tissot Gentleman and I found the gentleman fit better. real shame that but great watch the PRX if you can wear it well.

    Eberhard Scafograf 300 is one of the best deals on the market. Can be picked up for 1200 to 1500 usd nowadays , used to retail for almost 4000 usd in 2016.

    • @HRM.H
      @HRM.H 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hockingham7160 that's Eberhard for ya , they always over value/price their products in comparison to the market. It was released at the exact same time and almost the same price as the Tudor Pelagos. It got overshadowed by it so now offers amazing value on the secondhand market.

    The Tissot PRX does not use the System 51 caliber, nor a variation of it. It uses the Powermatic 80, which is based on the ETA 2824-2

    The Powermatic80 movement is based on the ETA 2824-2, the Swissmatic, a cheaper Tissot movement, is based on the System51 from Swatch. Please, is it so difficult? Sorry I hear so many people get that wrong...

    The answer to the PRX to big issue.. vintage, just buy a 1970s Seastar Quartz. Similar design but smaller and shares a movement with Omega(I think). :) pref blue dial :)

    The PRX is a copy of a 70s Tissot Seastar.
    The 70s one was almost certainly a copy of or influenced by the ones you referenced but you can't throw that allegation at the PRX, at least not without mentioning the Seastar.

    There are many people with small wrists. I collect vintage Omega watches. My dress is 1949 18k rose gold 36mm manual wind blackface Omega Tresor. It is the first-year Tresor watch.
    It is absolutely beautiful. It came out of Isreal out of an old collection. It cost me $1500. You can get man steel vintage Omega steel watches for 500 to 600. Omega vintage watches
    are very reliable. I have a 1934 steel Omega 15 jewel watch that is very accurate . It is a manual wind.

    Ok, I am biased towards the Citizen, but not the eco drive (although I own two eco drive watches) but still a ProMaster. I'm referring to the excellent Citizen Automatic Diver (that arrives in a miniature Yellow scuba cannister). I've had two of these over the years, ISO rated to 200M Good Lume, excellent toughness, in fact I've had the newer of the two Automatics on my wrist for the past 5 years with nary a mark on the case or the crystal, and I use the watch. The ProMaster Automatics model NY0040 can still be purchased new for around $300 and $400 Canadian (so about 235pounds?) Give it a go, you won't be disappointed! Go on,...I'm a Canadian, you can trust me, hell we're probably family somewhere down the line!

    I’ve bought exactly this Citizen as a birthday gift for my wife’s father. Great watch actually. Comfortable, accurate, light and pretty good looking. It’s slim but it’s 44 mm in diameter. I don’t think it will fit Hulk’s slim wrist.
