This is so helpful! I'm a furniture painter and have small amounts of diluted furniture acrylic paint leftover all the time. I'm going to give it a try using my leftovers instead of just buying pricey paint for pouring.

Most d y stores in the uk who offer test pots ,always have a few pots for sale reduced in price. Colours that did not work out correct for the customer. Just picked up 25 pots 20 pence each.
That will keep me busy for a while. ❤️

Next time if you want you can dilute latex paint with water
You just have to run the numbers down but when i paint homes with the sprayer i usually thin it down so it has a much better flow and usually its 1/2 a cup of water for every gallon of paint
And for the part that the grey popped out more is because, and dont ask me why cause I seriously dont know😂, yellow latex paint when mixed with other colors always has the tendency to turn grey for some reason or at least in my experience

You can use a good quality water based varnish to give a little more fluidity to the paints. The results are slightly different but it works. I always add a couple of teaspoons of pva as it will eliminate cracking. 😊
Also you can purchase Polyvine “scumble glaze” , it keeps the paint more fluid for longer to create paint effects but I’ve used it to “water down” the household paint. If you use too much, the colours become more translucent.

I'm actually here after doing a few latex paint pieces to see what I can do to make the process easier. I did it without adding water and also with adding a little water. I love the look it provides.

Thank you! I have heard of a lot of artists who are going to the paint part of their local landfills and reusing old house paint to make art!

Thanks Lacy after watching your video I tried the household test pots I have . To get the correct consistency , being water based i mixed them with a little water . Amazing it worked. Let’s see how they dry.🧐👌thank you so much . You are a very good teacher. ❤️subscribed.... Just starting acrylic pouring techniques .

I have been fluid painting for the ten years I worked in a hardware store specializing in automotive paints. I just didn't know it was called that and that it was an art. I play with colors using the tin lead of a paint can and even then, I found it fascinating when I wasn't stoned half the time from the VOC fumes of the paint. Yeah, back then it was all solvent based but I had a whole wall of paints, metallics, toners. The colors I could make where mind bugling.. This video just brought back that memory.

Thumbs up; thank you for the comparison experiment with conclusion: Silicone demonstrating 'some' cell formation in the blue and white. By thinner I trust you mean fluid medium and/or water. Thanks again.

I happen to have 5 different shades of pink left over house paint medium gloss. I'm tempting to see how this will work.

Very cool. I got a bunch of house samples and house painte recently, and I am looking for inspiration and ideas. I saw someone on YT who was diluting the thick paint with water.

You can thin Latex paint with water. 1/4 cup per gallon up to 1/2 cup per gallon depending on the consistency you are looking for.

To thicken acrylic pour paint mixes buy using ( Thick Gloss Gel ) I have tried it in some pouring paint mixes which were thin. This does work but it can be expensive. Did see this on You Tube. I'm a newbie so now if i need to thicken the paint with out loosing to much pigment as you would with water going by some video's on Y.T.

    Did she add any medium?
Ive tryed to make some white (i use a lot of white) using my left over white wall paint. I did 50/50 with the medium as i did with my acrylic colors. But its really liquid. Like 35% fat cream. Of course because the wall paint is more liquid wich i dont know why i didnt clic because Adding so many medium.
    Two questions :
1- do i need to add medium to already liquid White wall paint or any other wall paint
2-now that about 20$ of medium is blend to my white wall color... Any idea for make is less liquid? Like glue or maybe soms thick acrylic paint? Any suggestion? Cause i made about 6 cups of it.... Maybe i should add that liquid blend to other colored acrylic paint But it will for sure go pastel or light shade...
    What do you Think?
    Thanks guys!
Sorry for my english... I am french canadian ;)

    • @RebelUnicornCrafts
      @RebelUnicornCrafts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I like it, but it can warp the wood. My favorite wood pour was where I used floetrol as a float background to show the wood grain. th-cam.com/video/ZWucNiOp6Mc/w-d-xo.html

She's not hitting it with the heat cuz she doesn't know how flammable the latex paint would be--considering that this is the same stuff we paint every room in our house with, that's a terrifying statement🥺

The cracks because it's too thick water it down or try to mix it with floetrol but I'm sure if u water it down it doesn't crack plus it happens on acrylics too if the acrylics are too think ..it will crack
