I think people, regardless of what religion they are, regardless of who they pray to, have this type of experience. Myself, I'm not a church going man, but I do believe that there is a higher power. I'm a student of history, and I look at all of the wars that have been fought, all of the lives that have been Lost, All In the name of one religion or another. For that reason, I have steered away from organized religion, but that doesn't make me any less of a man of Faith. That's one reason, that this song speaks to me.
Don't disagree about being one of the best songwriters along with his friend Willie Nelson. I was really impressed with Kris after reading about his life before his fame.
Kris started out as a Special Forces U.S. Army Officer. He resigned when he could no longer ignore the call of music. He worked as a janitor in at a music production company until he got a chance to have his music recorded. He went on to be one of the most incredible music writers/singers in country music. He has starred in many movies as well. The host is one of the most important Country music DJs ever, Ralph Emory.
Also he was a rhodes scholar at Oxford University. Ralph Emory is a legend. He hosted the original Country TV . He was pretty much the Johhny Carson of country in Nashville. Kris is one of the Highwaymen. One of his best movies that Elvis Turn down is the original A Star is Born with Barbara Streisand. I love sunday morning come down, silver tongue devil, me and bobby mcgee, take the ribbon from your hair, to beat the devil, watch closely now there are so many, Plus you would be surprised at how many songs he wrote for other artists.
He was not Special Forces, he started out a helicopter pilot and earned the Army Ranger Tab. SF(Special Forces) wears a Green Beret(hence why they are called Green Berets)and Rangers at that time when he was in and up till about 97/98 wore the black beret. Rangers now wear the tan beret to honor those that were killed in Somalia. SF and Rangers are part of the Special Operations Command(SOC), but they are two different units with two different missions. They are not the same.
he left when the army wanted him to become a teacher at military school in a non military role, I think it was teaching English but I stand to be corrected
I love the fact that you are so willing to talk about your faith and your relationship with Jesus. In this day and age people shy away from talking about their faith for fear of making someone mad, or as in your case, of losing subscribers. I, for one, am proud to be a subscriber. Keep reacting and sharing your testimony whenever you can. God bless
I’ve enjoyed all your reactions but this one is my favorite because Kris was my musical and poetic idol and his passing has left this world a much poorer place. Kris enjoy your reward you’ve more than earned it.
I knew you were going to say "transformed" before you said it. And of course the answer to why was I worthy is, I wasn't. And that's the definition of grace.
I'm remembering the day HE opened his arms to me. Just to find out they were always open and HE had been patiently waiting. This song always brings a tear and a smile together. Beautiful reaction....thank you for sharing a little of your spirit with us. ❤
Hi Britt. Could write a book about Kris. 1st though this is from a series of shows called Country Family Reunion. The host back then was Ralph Emery, who was a big time Country Disc Jockey and TV variety show host. The people surrounding Kris are indeed all big stars. Bobby Bare, B.J. Thomas, Barbara Fairchild, Janie Fricke, and so many others. Kris and Willie have been friends since the dinosaurs roamed the earth. Both hall of fame songwriters and amazing performers. Also they were half of a super group late in their careers along with Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings called The Highwaymen. Kris was in the army for several years. Was an officer and a helicopter pilot. He also was asked to teach at West Point. He was a Rhodes Scholar, a writer and poet. In his younger days also boxed and played football. A true Renaissance Man. His love for music drove him to Nashville though, where he took a job as a janitor just to get a foot in the door at a record company. One weekend he took a flight in an army reserve helicopter and landed it on Cash's lawn. Johnny and June were not home but he left a tape with the caretaker. I believe it was his song Sunday Mornin Coming Down which Johnny loved and recorded. Kris wrote many hits for himself and other stars, including Janis Joplin's hit Me and Bobby McGee. He also has gotten a lot of work as an actor. He has been in a number of movies etc. He starred in the 1976 movie A Star is Born with Barbra Streisand. Kris was wrongly diagnosed with dementia caused by (possibly) Alzheime'rs. Turns out he was having memory fog issues from a previous case of Lyme Disease. He has recovered his memory and is doing well. He is 87 now. Geez, I did nearly write a book about him!!! Stay safe and well Britt. ;))
I remember when I first saw him sing this on television..my grandmother was with me. When he came out, my grandmother had told me, she was thinking " oh no, what's this hippie going to sing " he was young and his hair was much longer than in this video. As soon as he opened his mouth, my grandmother started to cry. She said she felt so ashamed for thinking that. Never judge a book by its cover is what she said through tears. God bless her and may she rest in peace❤ thank you for reacting to this. It brought back many memories 😊
I can all but guarantee that everyone that was in that room knew every word of that song. That song is what Kris is known for. He is called by many “the greatest lyricist in the English language” he is an incredible songwriter. If you want to know why they call him that, listen to more of his music, & not just the popular stuff- dive off into some of his more obscure work, and the way he puts words together will melt your brain.
I was going to say that I’m sure they all knew the song. I don’t know when this performance took place but he looks decades older than when he originally released it.
Yes, the act of accepting Christ is almost indescribable. The amount of peace and joy that comes during that early phase is so amazing! Keep doing what you do Britt! God bless you and your soon-to-be little one!
Ralph Emory was the Johnny Carson of Nashville. If you were an up and coming country artist, appearing on his show and Ralph's approval was a huge boost to your career. Otherwise, if you were anybody in Nashville or County music, you found time to be on his show.
Another great reaction Lady Britt. Kris is such an interesting person. He's the Renaissance man. Warrior, scholar, musician, actor. I remember well Kris being so high at an award ceremony, back when all TV was live, that he couldn't accept his reward because he kept falling down the stairs. Yet I've he came home to the Lord he's been clean ever since. A few times during other shows back then he boldly proclaimed that it was Jesus that had delivered him from drugs and alcohol and got him back in his feet. Glory to God! I know the Lord blessed him with all the intellect and talent he did because he wanted Kris to write this song and to become the man he did.
Amen & Amen. I’m 65and have listened to Outlaw country my whole life but I had never heard KK’s testimony. Thank you Britt for reacting to this powerful message wrapped around a beautiful song. ❤️
The man speaking with Kris is Ralph Emory, pretty much a legend in country broadcasting himself. He had a show for years called, “Pop Goes The Country”.
Today is 9/29/24 I had to come and hear this story again because Kris died yesterday 9/28/24. Kris finished Why Me Lord with Jesus My soul's in your hands. RIP Kris
Always loved this song. I've only had a few profound experiences in my life. Being called to Jesus, exchanging vows with my wife, and the birth of my children. Life changing and powerful. Great post.
A fabulous song from yesteryear that my friends and I from elementary and junior high and high school loved to hear. This was an amazing reaction by you, Britt! Keep up the fantastic work! 🙏😊💜
Love this song.. I've done it in church several times. Kris is a great song writer. He also preformed with Willie, Waylan Jennings, and Johnny Cash on a song called The Highway Men. Those four along with David Alan Coe and several others were considered Outlaws. So they're music was called Outlaw music
Kris Kristofferson's first album is one of the greatest albums around. Try To Beat The Devil Sunday Morning Comin Down Law Is For Protection Of The People
Kris Kristofferson is one of the truly great song writers. So many hits for him and others. Also several movies. And he was a Rhodes Scholar. A very special talent and man.
Kris stumbled his way through life before this experience and he had many stumbles after it, but he was a changed man. At 88 years (as I type this) he remains a devote Christian and a good person.
RIP Kris, we only have one Highwayman outlaw left Willie Nelson. This was written and sang by Kris in 1972. I’m terrible about attending services but I still listen to church by radio, television, internet, streaming. I know I am not worthy, I have been very short of the glory of God
Trust me, everyone in that room knows that song. They were singing along silently or just under their breath. That song was huge for Kris, and still well loved
Brittreacts, you've got it! He was always captivating and humble, despite his stardom. He was in awe of those he admired, and he treated his fans with respect and kindness. What a warm person, with that every ready keen sense of humor! ❤
Kris Kristophersen is Danish and very handsome and intelligent. He and Viggo Mortensen are 2 of my favorites. My husband is Danish and pretty cute and smart, too.😊 This is a beautiful song and I also love the way Elvis sings it with his back-up quartet, the Stamps featuring J.D. Sumner. Elvis always wondered why "him"? Why was he chosen to be so loved by so many. Thanks for this great reaction. Love your channel!!❤❤❤
You have to google this guy one of the most amazing songwriters and singers ever nobody will ever have the credibility that this guy has he’s a genius in so many different fields
Kris Kristofferson was also an actor or movie star as you might say. He played in Blade, Blade II and of course Bade Trinity. He also played in Fire Down Below, Dolphin tale, Convoy, A star is born and several others.
On the stage with Kris is ,Willie Nelson , Jeanie Freckey ,BJ Thomas ,Travis Tritt ,all are stars, Jeanie Freckey has sang on hundreds of recordings as a backup, she has had hit songs of her own : Tell me a Lie , it's not easy being easy, she also did a lot with, The man called The Voice vern Gosden,he was one of the Greatest, Miss Britney I love your Content, you have such a kind heart, I know your Parents are proud, you reflect greatly on them, God blessings be with you
I was asked to play this song once, and when looking for it on TH-cam stumbled first on this version, preceded for his story for how it came to him. Being a musician, I always pause for this... and I wish more people could 'ride along' with this backstory; it's lends every other hearing of the song so much more gravity, to know where the songwriter was when the melody was melded to these lyrics.
All things aside Kris was an outstanding brilliant Poet Laureate of his generation. I know his music backwards and forwards. I am 61 and in the early seventies my mother had all his albums and Kris was one of many artists that shared ear space in our house. Now as a young child of th AM radio 😅 I was not a real fan. Later in life when I started playing live open Mics before I was in a band guess who one of my go to artists to cover. Man Kris taught me a lot about true story telling. Brit on a personal listen just for your self go check put Sunday Morning Comimg Down or Pilgram( sort of a walking contradiction) I know I am late to the party on this one Brit but trust me this man is special. I saw him on Willy' 90th BD special and Kris was not looking so good. Hope you see this. Bluesfingers1
I’ve know and lessoned to Chris for years and years, but never heard the story behind the song. And it means so much more. I have a very personal relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. And a lot of people do not understand when I say I have a personal everyday relationship with my Savior. And even if there was not a Heaven or hell( which I believe in) I am so blessed each day by His Glory and Blessings. Praise God for His Glory !!!!!!’
I also felt that after a blessing from a pastor in port st Lucie not immediate but lasted days and continues I wish other people could experience this too
RIP Kris. He died yesterday at his home in Hawaii. I had the privilege of meeting him several years ago. Such a gentleman, sweet and soft spoken. Very handsome too. His music will live on forever
R.I.P KRIS, we will remember you and all of you tremendous amount of songs that you gave us, both them that you sang and those that you gave to others like YOU WHERE ALWAYS ON MY MIND that both Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson sang, or me and Bobby McGee that Janis Joplin sang. WHY ME LORD was covered by Elvis Presley and Gaither Vocal Band and they smashed it into a world hit. HELP ME MAKE IT THROUGH THE NIGHT is another HUGE hit, I love that song.
Good to see Kris get a little love from the younger generation. For several decades, he was one of the most brilliant, multifaceted and respected people in showbiz. A Rhodes Scholar, a former Army Ranger and helicopter pilot, he passed on an assignment to teach English lit at West Point and moved to Nashville, where he became one of the greatest songwriters ever, penning smash hits for everybody from Janis Joplin to Jerry Lee Lewis to Johnny Cash to Elvis to Gladys Knight and the Pips. Along the way he was also a rugby star, a boxer and a football player. Oh, and I forgot to mention that he starred in about a dozen movies, including A Star is Born opposite Barbra Streisand (sp), a role that won him a Golden Globe for best actor. The guy was (and still is) a true Renaissance man.
Kris was a tremendous singer and actor. He stared with Streisand in the “Star is Born”. He was one of my favorites. I thought he got better looking as he aged. I love listening to his gravely story telling.
The interviewer is Ralph Emory. He was a longtime Nashville DJ that hosted a talk show on the Nashville Network, I think it was called Nashville Tonight. It was later hosted by Amy Grant's first husband, Gary Chapman.
Kris is a gifted song writer. Elvis loved this song and performed it in concert. There are songs that you listen to like "Sounds of Silence," and think, "Brilliant." This is one of those songs along with many others Kris wrote. It comes from someplace above.
This is one of my all time favorite songs and is off his 1972 Jesus Was A Capricorn album and was a Number 1 country single. Great album by one of our great songwriters. You should also check out the title track, Jesus Was A Capricorn. I know you’re into lyrics, and these lyrics will absolutely blow you away, written in 1972, very relevant then, possibly even more relevant now. You have that glow Little Mama!!👍👍👍 Also, Janie Fricke, singing here with Kris, is a country notable in her own right. Check out her singing It Ain’t Easy Bein’ Easy.
He is one of the best song writers of his time, and more. His voice was great though it gave up on him at the end his music will live on for ever till the end of our time. God do well to him.
The man asking the questions is Ralph Emory. He emmceed a lot of country variety shows back in the day. Was a wonderful interviewer. This song is awesome. You react to Kris singing Me and Bobby McGee.
I have experienced times when my spirit and soul have overtaken my body, I completely get what he means. And I commend you for speaking freely of your beliefs. I adore watching your reactions, for that reason alone I keep coming back. And this was not a rehearsed performance either which is why it may sound a bit rocky but I still find it beautiful!
This is one of my most beloved song/story ever. Thank You for taking the time to play THIS and giving such a wonderful reaction. You've made an old 🌎 mans day. God Bless, much love and peace to You and your family❤
Preach girl! 😊 I’ve heard this for YEARS and I didn’t realize all this was behind it. But I’ve actually heard it sang in church throughout the years. It’s a beautiful song!
When I was a teenager in the 60s, we cleaned house listening to Kris. My favorite song was,'J😂esus was a carpenter, he worked on bended knee'. Also my mom's favorite album South Pacific.
I remember listening to and singing this song with my Daddy way back in the 70's. It made me cry then and I still cry every time I hear him sing it. It moves my soul because I can just feel his feelings as he's talking to the Lord. Total goosebumps every time I think of the Lord's grace, mercy and love He has for us mere unworthy humans. I think Kris was in his 70's when he was on this show. You can still hear the emotion in his voice just as much as you could back it the 1970's. I'm so glad you decided to do this song.
The people he was talking about are Country ROYALTY!! Everyone on that stage are ICONS. As he is as well!!! Kris was an IMPRESSIVE human being Period!! Godspeed to him as we lost him last week. The world is a lesser place without him.
I was raised with the Christ experience being completely within the box of the church I was serving. As soon as I started asking questions about things that just didn't make sense I was labelled a rebel. I still believe that there's a God out there, but I will NEVER again be bullied into a belief, ever!! I live my life by a moral code. All the movements don't move me. I treat everyone the same, I regard "God" the way I believe. I know my heart and so does He. That's it. Absolutely love this version of So Help Me Jesus!
I never before left you a comment, but I had to let you know I watched a lot of your reaction videos and I love your reactions, I'm for sure a fan Love Ya!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When Kris was a young man…he was just so beautiful. I know that sounds like a trivial thing but, inside and out, he was. And then, talk about his gifts..he crafted songs that touched the soul, he was a skilled actor, a scholar, a pilot, a friend you couldn’t replace and a voice from the universe. Thank God he’s still here, hopefully for a while. ❤❤
Love this song! It's so hard to believe that there are people who have never heard this song. Same with other great country songs of the past. I was 11/12 yrs old when this became a hit. Boy, do l feel old.😂 Where has the time gone?
I think people, regardless of what religion they are, regardless of who they pray to, have this type of experience. Myself, I'm not a church going man, but I do believe that there is a higher power. I'm a student of history, and I look at all of the wars that have been fought, all of the lives that have been Lost, All In the name of one religion or another. A lot of people don't know that Kris is a Rhodes Scholar and was also a Captain in the Army. Kris is a very intelligent guy with a big heart.
Don’t forget that he was also a helicopter pilot
I was going to bring up the Rhodes scholar point. That is a huge deal, especially with the life he lived.
Much respect for him. Very good song writer also.
He is probably one of the best songwriters of all time.
Don't disagree about being one of the best songwriters along with his friend Willie Nelson. I was really impressed with Kris after reading about his life before his fame.
Brit is a very wise woman. She figures things out very well. Love her.

"Me and Bobby Mcgee" one of the best songs ever written "Freedom's just another word for nothin left to lose, nothin ain't nothin but it's free"
Hi Britt. Could write a book about Kris. 1st though this is from a series of shows called Country Family Reunion. Thanks for that mini-book, I actually learned a few things about Kris! Loved him in the movie "Dreamer" with Kurt Russell and Dakota Fanning!!&!
Kris resigned from the ARMY upon receiving orders assigning him as an instructor at West Point to teach literature. He never did teach at West Point.

Beyond Beautiful story and song 😊
Kris was a renaissance man. Songwriter, singer, poet, actor, Rhodes scholar, athlete, husband, father
Britt you are a beautiful Angel. Very happy to hear this story and song. God is Love.
It was later hosted by Amy Grant's first husband, Gary Chapman.
they are projecting a humbleness and humanity in knowing they are made in the image and likeness of God
You have that glow Little Mama!!👍👍👍
Also, Janie Fricke, singing here with Kris, is a country notable in her own right. Check out her singing It Ain’t Easy Bein’ Easy.
Hi Britt, Keep what you are doing, don't have to change for anyone. God Bless and Amen.
The MC asking the questions is the late great Ralph Emerson
You got it dear ❤! This fellow is exceptional!
This is one of my most beloved song/story ever. Thank You for taking the time to play THIS and giving such a wonderful reaction. You've made an old 🌎 mans day. God Bless, much love and peace to You and your family❤
We're not worthy, He makes us worthy through his Son.
Preach girl! 😊 I’ve heard this for YEARS and I didn’t realize all this was behind it. But I’ve actually heard it sang in church throughout the years. It’s a beautiful song!
Willie Nelson and Lorie Morgan are right there as well as many other well know country stars. Kris is a one of a kind writer and singer.
When I was a teenager in the 60s, we cleaned house listening to Kris. My favorite song was,'J😂esus was a carpenter, he worked on bended knee'. Also my mom's favorite album South Pacific.
When I grew up I always loved his songs !!!!
Actor, song writer, singer, Highwaymen, legend
That takes a mighty big fellow to give a testimony like this. Krtis had an ephimy. He lead a pretty hard life .
None of us are worthy. It's grace...the grace of God...our God, your God.
Britt, I think you are a true child of God. Thanks for this video.
Are you happy you met Kris before he kept this old world, leaving us with his legacy of amazing music.
I never before left you a comment, but I had to let you know I watched a lot of your reaction videos and I love your reactions, I'm for sure a fan Love Ya!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He was in the movie (A Star is Born) with Barbara Striesand!
I love having the story first ❤
When Kris was a young man…he was just so beautiful.
I know that sounds like a trivial thing but, inside and out,
he was. And then, talk about his gifts..he crafted songs
that touched the soul, he was a skilled actor, a scholar,
a pilot, a friend you couldn’t replace and a voice from the
universe. Thank God he’s still here, hopefully for a while.
❤❤
David Crowder Band did a wonderful rendition of this beautiful song!
Love this song! It's so hard to believe that there are people who have never heard this song. Same with other great country songs of the past. I was 11/12 yrs old when this became a hit. Boy, do l feel old.😂 Where has the time gone?
This song breaks me every time. TFS Friend!
