Happy New Year. I'm ready to give you guys more content, this is the start. I might drop the collection video for today but for this, I really wanted to do something different and talk about Cena's character. We often talk about his stories but never about this character in detail
Thx WrestlingsPremier I'm looking forward to more content you'll be dropping this year
@@jordanmccluskey891 I agree
"I'm John Cena, Recognize" probably his most underrated catchphrase wish he would have used it more. 4 Year old me is NOT ready for this farewell tour for my GOAT
Against whom was it.
I agree, man. Young me crying and puking over ts
Facts
Agreed my fav is....THE CHAMP IS HEREEEEE!!!!! Big Big Cena fan im fn excited!!!!!!
I remember they tried it again with Dolph Ziggler lol
John Cena in later years after his loss to Lesnar and the death of Super Cena at SummerSlam 2014, were very fun. The amount of great matches he had with lots of future stars during his U.S. Championship title reign were amazing, and it truly made you feel some respect to him more, even if you hated him during his prime. Truly an underrated time of his career👍
He should get an Intercontinental championship run so he can be a Grandslam Champion
"Because I'm John Cena recognize."
John Cena 2016
Mfs really gotta learn what a semicolon (; - That thing) is
I agree. His matches with AJ styles were absolutely classic and let’s not forget the underrated Triple threat at No mercy 2016 with Dean Ambrose and AJ styles!
The "I'm John Cena, recognize" era is what made me a Cena fan again for the first time in 10 years up to that point
I'll always hold the opinion that 2015-17 is a top 3 Cena run alongside 2004 and 2007. Once he stopped acting like an underdog and actually carried himself like the top guy we all knew he was it was so refreshing. It made people like Owens and Styles beating him actually feel massive because he gave off the feeling that if you want to get to the top in WWE, you have to go through him.
2008-2012 was super cena years
I still remember those FIRE promos John Cena did on AJ, Miz, Ambrose and Reigns around that 2016-2017 run. He put those guys in their place and had them in silence, this character of him definitely underrated
“Its call a promo Roman”
“Shut up John 😬”
Using irl terminology like “promo” is cheap af
And with that John cena end tour starts and he did everything except winning the ic title
Tbh he should go after the ic title then let R Truth or Sheamus or someone in the NXT called up to wins it but it is what it is
man i respect him alot more now. if you consider this era, his early thuganomics era, his champ era, and soon to be retirement era, the super cena era looks so insignificant in terms of time now
I prefer 2015-2017 Cena over Super Cena. That 2017 Roman promo and The AJ Styles matches. Classic.
W video! I got tickets to the ATL show on the 27TH front row and IM NOT READY for the emotional last ride
Shit gang got room for another 😢
During that time, John was now looked at as a beloved veteran of the business. Even though he can still go in the ring, John is now being surpassed. Meaning, John can now finally pass the torch!
I was more impressed with his "Embrace the hate" mini gimmick in 2012. That was (technically) the closest we ever got to a Cena heel turn.
"You call me a sorry excuse for a wrestler, why cause I didn't put in time on the indy scene?? I was made for big shows like WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series " - John Cena in 2017😂
There are a lot of great things to say about cena. I would never use the word authentic to describe him he always sounds like he’s in character when he speaks
Your a goat youtuber 🙌🏽 keep up the good work
thanks bro much appreciated
Happy New Year Wrestling Premier, Hoping 2025 Is Your Year For Exciting Content
My favourite run of his. He still had his aura but was finally able to lose. Killer matches and programs throughout. Cena from his loss to Lesnar up until his last 2017 appearances was special.
Heel or baby face cena with a spinner belt custom designed doing opening challenge would be great I can imagine the design on the belt hope it not like the older one with just the company logo I know a idea on what they should do.
"But a guy like you can stand in this ring and call me a sorry excuse for a wrestler. Why? Because I didn't put time in on the Indy scene? Here's a spoiler alert: I wasn't built for the Indy scene, I was built for the WWE, for SmackDown Live, for the Royal Rumble, for moments like right here, right now! So I'm on a level with you, homie. Regardless of how good you think you are, you're not on my level, you're not even on the level below me".
You’ve been workin fr
I just think its an interesting time. Better than super cena? 2015 can match up but yet imo 06-07 cena was also something else both in ring and promos
I watch these promos from Cena during this time in his career over and over and over again. Before this none of us would have categorized Cena as someone who would verbally disintegrate people in promos. Now every time Cena touches a mic you know he's going to say some out of pocket shit to his enemies. Hell Cena be spitting more bars now than he did during his rapping days.
huh? 😂😂😂 his promos never changed
Cena had a few moments of burrying guys pre 2015, but they were far few in between.
John Cena from 2014-2017 was also very special as he was delivering a lot of bangers while put over new main event stars such as Roman, Rollins and Owens while his feuds with Lesnar and Styles were entertaining to watch.
the john cena open challenge was so fun to watch
Surprised you didn’t talk about his character leading through 2018 as well
I got a whole video coming on that run from 17-20
@ awesome to hear
John Cena 2015-2017 smackdown was special to me because john was willing to be not only a fighting champion but has good rivals with new talent
That moments when he did promos with Roman, Kevin and AJ styles was amazing
Happy new year
He bacame a bit more reality based and Didn't need to be "Humble" anymore. And he was like "Ya'll forgot about ME?" Essentially, saying.yes you're very good, but youre NOT ME
I love how more self aware his promos and the narrative behind it was around this time.
I remember everyone thinking it was going to lead up to a heel turn lol. Dean even beat Cena clean! It was crazy
I forgot about the trash talk Cena gave to Dean Ambrose
Perhaps a match between the two at Mania 33 would have been a neat experiment
Chain Gang Cena !!!
Not ready for his retirement tour 😢😢
Need more Juan Cena
My fav version of him
To me, this was the "Grim Reaper" version of John Cena.
He was absolutely a grave digger on the mic, could build up any heel to be a powerhouse against him or just drop an anvil on them, he drew attention toward his feuds, was honest about his character, and forced his presence back into the main event scene. The weird thing the wrestling community hates about Cena, is his facet of nuking another talent on the mic & legitimately giving them no chance to rebuttal.
I genuinely dislike that sentiment by fans, him being ruthless on the mic plays well into the "franchise" role, if you wanna be the MAN, you have to beat the MAN. If you couldn't hang with Cena for more than 1 minute, that's on YOU as a performer for not improvoising. Sure it's a great rule of thumb to always ELEVATE another performer & never go into the business for yourself.
He definitely did during this run but I genuinely don't mind it, because it allows other performers to really showcase who's up NEXT. He was safe in the ring, passionate, had great pacing, good selling & had great high spots in matches!
His promo on Roman is one of the greatest future shocks to another performer I've ever seen. The guy completely went paralyzed & at that very moment, fans knew Vince's experiment wasn't even close to ready. It was ruthless, honest & had a good element of "shooting." However, it was for the best.
And what made this cena good?? He even got his hardcore haters to cheer him, that's something that unheard of
This character was the reason John Cena vs AJ Styles was amazing.
"Congratulations ,It took you five years to cut a halfway decent promo but now its time for me to shrink you down to size"😬💀
2015 was the last year of cena as a full timer
I LOVE U SOLO
Cena va angle/ cena vs styles cena vs y2j will always be my top 3 over edge over punk over rock over orton over any of his fueds
Nice
Cena is the final boss
It was the time when I didn't focus my attention on John Cena's character. Bad idea
Cena was cooked summer slam 2014 and after that 2015 was the last fun year of Cena
Thuganomics Cena was the best
Bro rlly made a whole vid to glaze cena💀
John Cena was great but boring because he was too much of a good guy always being the top Babyface and because of that steamrolled everyone and Batista in 2010 wasn't no more of threat than Orton was in his 2009 feud with Cena Cena definitely should've turned heel at some point
That's more on Vince and creative than Cena himself. if they gave them a chance he would have been a fantastic heel
@Slick5150 true I blame the creative for Cena's lack of a heel run and his steamrolling of the top level stars who only beaten him clean once or not at all when creative should've booked them with more clean wins over Cena
2017 was his best year was it? Clearly you weren't watching around the time of big math John because 2006-2010 were his most prolific years with 2007 probably being the biggest
