- So while we was filming the new series of "Who is the Fastest Influencer" we managed to pull together a battle of all battles! A F1 vs 1000BHP Ariel Atom and not only that we sent Misha Charoudin out in the Atom to see how he feels it is.
But not all goes to plan with the battle when something goes very bad!

It is a formula car, but calling it a Formula 1 over and over is a few categories too enthusiastic.
Yea and the track appears to be a go-cart track? I'm sure he was going fairly fast but it goes to show how fast F1 cars are that it looked positively crawling compared to what we're used to seeing F1 doing.

The title isn't even clickbait, it's just a lie. And to keep referring to it as "the F1 car" throughout the video really makes me question the knowledge of the people making these vids. It's just weird! I hope future vids are more factually accurate.

So no time for the "F1" car (which isn't an F1 car) and a time for the Atom which was badly affected by the weather. All good fun but didn't really prove much, except that the Atom is totally scary!
Proving the atom needs aero and that Misha found out how scary this thing is

In 1986, I drove my first Mazda RX4 Rotary at 19. Our family business was shock absorber and suspension specialists, mostly as reconditioning and custom parts fabrication. My mate of years, older than me, brought in his car, and we helped him by introducing him to known specialists to help him build it. A fresh 13B extended bridge port was installed with a 5spd Supra box we fitted, along with an LSD Toyota diff. I set the suspension up after getting it back from our engine builder. I had it for 2 weeks as we fine tuned everything.
After driving it to and from work to run it in, i took it out for a run after the bigger brakes were installed... and took my dad with me. Never seen my dad so scared... and we both got out shaking.
I raced carts, owned a worked 351 Cleveland, drove V8s since i was 12 ...
It scared me as much as it excited me. And when Tony came to pick it up, i drove first to make sure he understood how it handled and drove. He nearly crapped himself, screaming at me to slow down as we slid sideways into 4th and even 5th gear. He kept the car for about 4
3 months, then i bought it from him as he couldn't handle it. I thought about keeping it, but it was a cop magnet and not practical on the street. Especially the fuel bill.
I still remember everyone i took for a drive screaming at me to stop the car... and shaking when they got out. Tyres 8n those days weren't real great, except to smoke as we drifted corners, or indeed in a straight line. Drag racing on the street was hilarious, as we'd pass V8s sliding on gear changes at 130kmh into 5th.
So much fun!!! But so glad i sold it and lived. 😅

This track is less than 5 miles from my house. It's great to see it getting even more recognition. Race track, kart track and autograss track. Gotta love it. Great driving and great video. 👍

Yeah. That insane Atom will never be competitive without a shit ton of downforce. It will go flying. On a track that is meant for F1 nothing will EVER beat F1.

The fact the Atom's owner has done 190 in the sketchy thing, and survived, is remarkable. I can't imagine how twitchy it is once it's over 100mph, in it's current form.
It'll be interesting to see how much better the performance is, when it's driven by someone who has full confidence in it. No disrespect to Misha at all, anyone would have shit themselves trying to get a good time on that track in that car as it is!
why Ariel was not equipped with aero package, especially with 1k hp...

When I saw this Ariel Atom for the first time, I asked myself why the front and rear wings weren't installed. Downforce can only make the car safer.

Omg guys! What a great video! Shout out to Misha for having balls the size of church bells every day for lapping the Nurburgring.
I own a 397bhp rotrex supercharged f20c engined Westfield kitcar weighs 680kg and that’s scary on the road at that power let alone the power this atom makes it must be literally to powerful and impossible to drive hard on full boost
And yet people still claim torque wins races 😂 so many don’t realise every chassis has a torque limit. Any more torque results in more wheel spin and broken transmission. Yet as long as you don’t exceed the torque limits of your setup you can continue to add power and be faster. The lighter your car the more like a motorbike you want your engine to be. As a Honda fan I love a Rotrex, all the power exactly where you want it, right at the top end where you can make serious power without too much torque making it undriveable. Obviously this applies more to FWD and very light cars. If you have an AWD with transmission to take huge torque and enough tyre to put it down, then the more the merrier. But it’s an expensive way to get smoked by lighter cheaper less complicated cars. There’s an Australian guy, Jaydee I think he’s called. Been running a rotrex atom for maybe 15 years now. Done a lot of his own development work, and now sells 10 rib pulleys and cams for rotrex K engines. Id be willing to bet his 600bhp low torque Atom would destroy this undrivable 1000bhp atom around any track. And I mean no disrespect to the guy that built this car, banging a 1000bhp into the lightest chassis you can find seems like a no brainer way to be unbeatable…..and I’m sure in perfect conditions you’d need to spend a lot to be faster. But in the real world, something with less power, and torque not to far above what the tyres can put down will be faster and more satisfying to drive. Your car sounds awesome by the way. I have a 263bhp K20 EG civic weighing about 900kg that I’ve been wanting to rotrex for years. It’s awesome as it is tho. And I can’t afford to build 2…..ideally a turbo 4x4 one aswell 😂. Definitely can’t afford 3
@seshelbow336 agreed! That is why US cars like the Hellcat (pretty much any US muscle car) are so laughably SHITE! They have all the power but zero control and are only quick on a proper drag strip with warmed slicks, otherwise they just spin their wheels and do the times of cars with half their power. It seems that most US tuner cars are the same too, engines putting out HUGE power but using stock (shite) suspension, brakes etc. Callaway used (they might still do?) to do crazy powerful Corvettes including a 255mph Corvette Sledgehammer with 900bhp but still using LEAF SPRING suspension hahaha!

That World Series by Nissan car - v6 430hp car was around 60 grand when it sold , or one identical.
It looks like that front wing would fit nicely on the Atom, as well as the rear wing. then I imagine the atom would really go fast on a track
I don't believe the atom has over a thousand horsepower. I'd have to see the engine . I can believe 500-650 hp but not over a thousand.

That atom needs the wiong back on, provides a lot of down force for a little car like that over the rear where its needed, unsure why anyone would take it off tbh, its got the power to overcome the drag thats for sure hahaha

Atoms don't weigh enough to build heat in their tires. I bet that's not even considered an issue in the uk. I'm in the states, and when you know what it's like when it's hot.. it sucks when it's not. I find it hard to wrap my mind around any additional horsepower in an atom at all. I don't think this one's going to get where it needs to be with wings. I think this one deserves fans😅

The atom would have been a much more usable car with motec or cybex being used. Their tc systems are insane.
It has a full Motec system.
@@Shacky1989 then whoever tuned the tc did a terrible job. There’s 2000hp huracans and gtrs here in America that have it sorted and are hazing the tires at most with help from cybex. But boost by gear in conjunction with the traction control makes a world of difference

Misha would have a driver excuse for winning a race. I like the idea of turning that into an absolute track weapon just by adding a load of aero. I hope it works.

I'm only 4 minutes in but the suspense is killing me. Literally the best handling car Vs the worst (*ever -- I own one) . Nail-biter. Atom was great for making Clarkson's funny rubber face funnier and rubbery-er. Nothing else. Looks cool .....but much better with both wings not none.
Good video but not F1, F1 are at least 300bhp more. We should see a drag race at Bruntingthorpe.

This is little bit off as the F1 is with some engine swap with far, far less revs and power. Whereas the atom has boosted monster engine. Anyway, nice vid.

2002 F1 engine would need to be preheated before starting and probably idled at 6000 rpm, the engine in that car world series redbull is not anything close to an F1 engine of that era.

The Single Seater is a Nissan World Series (Formula) car. The Atom has an engine based on the Honda K20.

Engine didnt sound dead to me 😂 revving it and not going anywhere looks like it lost drive, then gearbox clunking as its rolling with engine off also confirms it.
That's no big end bearing failure, / bottom end/ crank failure, why would it be clunking rolling with engine off in neutral.....
and it would have shat a rod at 5+k rpm it was doing easily at the time of failure if it was bottom end....
