  • BIt of a surprise to see these coming through today, but a nice surprise all the same. As always a great noise from the Pratt and Whitney jet engines as they navigate the valleys of Ullswater.     They flew down Dentdale on the way there - saw them coming over the top from the east and dropping down over Dent Station into the valley. The third one was about as low as I've seen here - excellent stuff.

    Nice one, was here last year on the way upto angle Tarn and Kidsty Pike, was shocked when they came through at low level.

      watch the mach loop videos. we send a hercules aircraft lower than that. also the red arrows do it in formation.

      Air superiority maybe, apart from perhaps breaching dams, hitting railway viaducts, or German battleships....... Superiority in numbers during WW2 perhaps, but the Lancaster could carry over double the bombload of a B17...... The bombload of a typical B17 was around 4500 pounds. The Lanc could - and did - take 10'000 pounds of bombs to Berlin.....
