I wish more people would drive with that much distance between. I can’t tell you how many times I’ll be driving safely, driving the speed limit, and some stranger will ride up so close behind me, that I could tap the brakes, not even a full brakecheck, and they’d still hit me.

A friend and I were driving on I-15 from LA to Las Vegas back in the early 80's. We had crested a pass and were headed downhill when an F-4 came out of nowhere from between two hills and literally passed right in front of us. The noise was amazing. Another passed a couple of seconds later further downhill and actually slightly below us. I haven't thought of that in years until I watched this.

Back in 2002, I was on a cross country trip heading out of Vegas on Rte 95 to Death Valley, and an A-10 came over the mountains (from the Groom Lake area) and flew over us heading in the same direction......flew down about a mile or so, did a 180, and came at us, and low enough that I could clearly see the pilot looking over at me. I'd say he was maybe 125-150 feet off the ground. It was pretty crazy/awesome.

Your comment reminded of the time when I used to live in Lake Elsinore, California, and when El Toro Marine Corps Air Base was still around. An F-4 Phantom jet made a low pass to the lake, creating a sonic boom. People made complaint calls to the air base, but the base denied that it was one of their jets. So sad that these beauty beasts are made for killing. Speaking of killing, when my son was in flight school, he picked the UH-60 to fly instead of the AH-64 Apache. When I asked him why, he replied, "Dad, I don't like to kill people."

I'd love you to subscribe to get me to 1000 subs! The video is recorded with a GoPro which has a wide angle lens, which is why the aircraft do not look low. You can see when they pass the shadows cast by them are pretty huge.
Also I’m sorry for the length but blame the TH-cam algorithm, if it wasn’t this length you wouldn’t see it. The scenery is part of the experience.
Try to be a bit less negative and just enjoy these aircraft while we still have them.
EDIT: If you are a subscriber let me know your closest international airport and I'll fly to you in MSFS on a live stream on Twitch! (link in description)

They aren't nearly as loud as F-15s, but they're definitely louder than commercial jet liners taking off from the airport. They startled my wife, but got my admiration immediately! They were flying pretty low! Love the sound of airpower!

You have to love a zoomie fly by at 1000’. I’ve had multiple chances to witness aircraft from Nellie Air Force base on the deck in the San Juan River arm of Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Recreation area. F16, F18, B2, all below the canyon rim. I know I’ve been strafed, bombed and had my bass boat destroyed in practice runs with missiles. When a pilot turns the aircraft on its side to wave, you know it is low. Love the US military, god bless them all.

My Auntie used to live just west on Nanttle valley right next to all the man made slate quarries. If you take the dogs for a walk up the north side of Talysarn and sit and wait, you'll have 3 or 4 fly pasts with all manner of jets. I've seen Hercules, F15's, F18's, Jaguars, Tornado's an occasional Harriers. This is around 1983 or so and most of the stuff I saw is no longer part of the RAF or USAF. They'd do that valley fly through and then head up to Anglesea for refuelling and then head back to base. There are places on that route where amateur aero photographers knew exactly where to stand for the perfect shot. The jets would sometimes fly past these photographers around 50m away, but because the photographers had climbed up to 100m+ height, they were at the same height. Also, all over those hills, there is unexploded bombs and all sorts of other stuff that was dumped over the side. Some hills are out of bounds still. In WW2, some planes would take off fully laden with bombs, do their mission or abort and for some reason, they might have to divert to Anglesea to land. Some of these jets were heavily damaged and some did crash or were ditched before they made it, but some would jettison everything and anything. Radios, Machine guns, ammo boxes, bombs and anything that could be tossed out to give them a fighting chance of landing the plane. They'd let the sheep wander the hills, but usually, humans knew to stay off. I don't think anybody from the MOD ever made an effort to clear these areas to make them safe. My Auntie told me that a previous occupant of the house, a teen kid found a hand grenade and took it up to his bedroom to take it apart. I dunno if she just told me to scare me, but she did say that it went off. She never went into any more details. I was about 12 when she told me that. It was enough to make me not want to venture too far and look for stuff. Looking back, I'm certain she was fibbing.

Its in Wales which is the western shore of the U.K. It’s definitely worth the drive if you ever find yourself in the U.K. with a day or two to spare. People come from all over to witness the awesomeness in person. I was fortunate enough to be born in the U.K. to a father stationed on an air base. I’ve seen up close just about every aircraft there is. My father would take me on base and show them to me up close. Sometimes he would lift me up so I could sit in the rim of the wheel. Several times he got permission to let me sit in the pilot’s seat of some truly awesome aircraft. I have quite a few photos and tonnes of memories of those times being up close and inside of different aircraft. I even went inside some of the bigger ones both American and British.
      Cheers all

Coming home from Atlanta, going north on the old highway, one afternoon I topped one of the many hills you have to go up and down on that old road. Just as I peaked the hill, a B-52 flew in front of me at about as low as an airplane of that size can fly; it was no more than a couple hundred yards in front of me. Talk about being startled. I was in the USAF and had been around the B-52, but never that close to one in flight or that low to the ground. The B-52 was a lot lower than this F-15.

Went to an air show at a Air National Guard base. It was hot and I had the car windows down. As I approached the base I could see a pair of F-15s doing a typical circular approach to the runway. The engines were throttled back and as they passed right over me they made this loud, amazing moan. That made my day until later, when I watched one pull up from a low, slow pass down the runway, go into afterburner and accelerate straight up with an almost deafening roar.

We see many different aircraft here as well, plus, by living so close, we are able to hear the gun's and cannon fire during certain training operations...

I've been to the Mach loop before and they look super low! Never seen Eagles go through but have been up to Lakenheath a lot. Its worth a Trip mate, Honestly, The noise is just out of this world when They take off. Its like they stop you from breathing because of the amount of power coming out of those engines. Also the smell of the Kerosene Fuel afterwards could give someone a raging Hard-on🤣.

I remember my son asking me why I always stopped what I was doing and looked skyward whenever fighter jets would pass overhead back when we lived near an airbase.
My answer: “Well son it’s respect for the pilots because the sound they make is the sound of freedom”. If you’ve ever been pinned down by an opposing force that outnumbers you with no way out and then hear the sound of those jets coming your way you know what I’m talking about. One of the reasons our ground forces are so feared and successful is due to the power and capabilities of those aircraft and the pilots in them. Having air superiority makes all the difference in battle. My favourite aircraft is most definitely the A-10 “Wart Hog” lol. The sound of their main gun going off as it passes over is something I will never forget. My father, who served several tours in Vietnam used to say the same thing about the jets that would drop napalm on the enemy as they raced by. God bless America and Long live the Republic

During Covid lockdowns, we were allowed outside to walk to the grocery store. A couple of Rafales (yes, I’m in France) buzzed my small town, obviously practicing terrain following. They were no more than 100 metres up…subsonic but barely. The French Air Force regularly pass over my town East/West, but on a day with bright blue skies and not another human in sight (except my kid)…it was like life after a neutron bomb kinda war. These French train for actual nuclear war…there were definitely under the radar.

Our marina is about 25 miles from Maguire AFB, so we see plenty of C5 transports, KC-10 tankers and occasionally a few F15's overhead. A few weeks ago we were overflown by a vintage Korean war fighter, I think it was a P80.
