What is your favourite overlooked DS game?
A lot of my overlooked games I found bc of you
Probably Magical Starsign
really cool list you have there def some weird games that are likely to fall through peoples radars.
nicher DS games people are less likely to have played that I would vouch for
translation required on these ones (but totally worth it)
Soma bringer monolith (yes the makers of Xenoblade) made a diablo 2 clone with full local co op it slaps
SaGa 2/3 DS two awesome remakes of two awesome turn based RPGs prob some of the best music you will hear on the system to. really weird RPGs that are totally worth checking out
Tales of innoence honestly much better game then tempest i wish hearts had a translation to but oh well. battle system slaps hard controls insanely nicely translation is also top notch and story is enjoyable.
battlenetwork OSS a fun little tweaked port of BN1 that honestly plays much better then the base game with a lot of QOL tweaks that just make it a lot more enjoyable. IE having a map way better chip codes for far better deck building less bugs playable starforce scenario UI updates etc.
non translation
Lunar knights AKA boktai DS absolute banger of a game insanely good top down ARPG made by the creators of the MGS series to.
battlenetwork 5 DS really damn nice DS port of BN5 that has lots of features added to
custom robo arena honestly cant belive how underlooked this one is. its stupid fun fast paced action game with SNES style RPG overworld but with awesome 3D battles that honestly still look good and play great to this day.
Giana Sisters DS, Okamiden, Metroid Prime Pinball, Thor: God of Thunder, Point Blank DS, Aliens Infestation and Super Princess Peach.
Madden ...
(Leaves)
Dunno how impressive this game was back then, but "Lost Arc" was one of my favorites (:
0:13 Soul of Darkness
1:45 Core
3:19 Izuna - Legend of the Unemployed Ninja
4:47 Fighting Fantasy
6:21 Mech Assault Phantom War
7:56 Time Hollow
9:31 Away Shuffle Dungeon
11:08 Legend of Kage 2
12:45 Tales of the Tempest (fan translation)
14:22 Blood of Bahamut (fan translation)
Thank for showing blood of bahamut some love. Game is still very under the radar and has alot of replay value to keep folks coming back. Working on the fan translation was so much fun
Thank you for your hard work man, it was awesome to finally be able to play through it in English!
Finally, an actually really solid NDS hidden gems list. Great finds.
Cheers!
This guys lists are top
Only thing is, these are DSIware titles. Don't get too excited because good luck finding them now.
@@derealized797I found Soul of Darkness but I couldn't run it on the Drastic emulator
@@kelsonthomas2615 Has to be .3ds i think, not .cia. It gets a little complicated with DS. Sometimes different emulators work better too.
If it weren't for you I wouldn't have discovered some of these games
Glad the video helped out!
I remember buying Mech Assault for 5 bucks and having an absolute blast. The game was literally one of the best action titles on the DS.
100%! So glad I found it.
I remember discovering Time Hollow by chance while surfing the web. I found a copy and played through it, and absolutely loved it.
Fighting fantasy looks like you're playing a comic book come to life. I like the art style
I want more games like Summon Night: Twin Age.. Just loved getting Millisar as a party member.
Fighting Fantasy looks so fun. It’s like OG elder scrolls
Don’t believe the negative reviews, it’s a really great game!
Soul of Darkness. Finally someone noticed this hidden gem.
you actually found a good list of unknown games, great vid !
Amazing what the NDS could do gameplay wise. I am impressed with the first person games I have seen so far while watching this video.
Dunno if you alreade talked about it, but avalon code is such a cool game that deserve more spotlight in the ds library
Exceptional! I hadn’t heard of most of these, which is a testament to the fact that you know no boundaries, you’re a worldwide gamer! Which leads me to a request: you always let us know the Japanese only games, but there’s no mention of whether a game is NA or EU. (Are there games that are only released in South America or Australia or another region? I don’t know!) For example, I have “Orcs and Elves,” a brilliant low-res dungeon crawler from Id Software, and “Core” is obviously inspired by “Doom,” but “Fighting Fantasy” looks like a high-res sequel to “Orcs and Elves”! What am I to make of this? More information would be greatly appreciated!
And isn’t it great that the DS was never region-locked!
Just when i thought that i cant found any more awesome games on ds . This video drops, as always on point brother
More to come man!
Blood of Bahamut looks insane! Can't wait to give it a try!
Have fun!
My favourite nds game is Super robot wars og saga, the battle where you chain combos and each character's ultimate attacks are just satisfying
TVGS comes with another list of hidden gems, thanks for the suggestions😊❤
Enjoy!
Ohhh boy! My DS wishlist is gonna be packed of these games. I’m definitely going to go find these. Thanks for the video mate
Finally someone other than me that played Legend of Kage 2, game is underrated as hell. Couldn't finish it because of the last stage, but boy is a solid fun well made platformer.
One of the best on the system!
Some more games:
Inazuma Eleven: Think Captain Tsubasa meets DBZ, Naruto, Saint Seiya and a bunch of other anime. Basically you play Soccer (Sakka!) as usual but not only your players but the opponent as well can use super moves (or Hissatsus) to do things like keep the ball, steal the ball, score a goal or catch the ball.
Super Robot Wars W: Easily the best SRW portable game, with a fun cast of characters, interesting missions, a fun plot, a lot of characters to unlock and an interesting plot twist in New Game+. Also, one of the few games were you have access to the cast of Gundam Seed Astray.
Solatorobo: Red the Hunter: A work of love made by CyberConnect2 and it shows. With a complex cast of characters that will leave you loving them all by endgame, an interesting set of side-quests that develops a quirky yet lovable set of side-characters, an interesting story an a good plot twist at the end that will leave wanting more.
finally a video where i dont know all 10 games on the list. thanks for being the first video to show 7 games i didnt know existed on the original ds.
Oh my god! I use to play a version of Soul of Darkness made for old Java flip phones and it was the absolute bomb. I never knew it was an actual DS game
Still pretty amazed at the 3d polygon capabilities of the original DS. Those games still look great!
I love dungeon crawler game, so I might try Izuna tomorrow
Thanks for the lists!
Kicking it off with Soul of Darkness…heck yes! I know I’m already in for an excellent list! Such an underrated DSiWare game. Legend of Kage 2 is definitely another hidden gem I’m glad you highlighted, and one nobody really knew existed. Blood of Bahamut looks badass, and glad you said it has an English translation patch now. Definitely one I’ll need to nab, and surprised didn’t get a release outside Japan with how impressive it looks. Once again, another excellent episode that nails the topic at hand!
I have a Modded DSi xl with Shantae riskys revenge
I don't know if you've covered it in another video, but I've never seen anyone talk about Theresia: Dear Emile. It's a horror point & click adventure game for the DS.
It's one of the 6 or so +18 rated games for the DS.
The story and illustrations were pretty solid, and one of the songs in particular is really good (although they are all unnamed oficially, but it's been uploaded under the fan title "Silenced Prayers" on TH-cam.
There was a sequel for mobile phones that became lost media.
I think it would be an interesting title to cover.
If more people knew about these games a lot more people would have brought them. I can't believe it, I would have 100% got at least 3 of them. Especially Soul of darkness.
The DS library is gigantic, it had new games releasing every week. So it was very easy to get lost in the shuffle unfortunately
The power of advertisement
Great list - that music playing while you were taking about Izuna is catchy!
And Fighting Fantasy is the best FPS on the DS imo - good to see it get some love.
glad you included Izunu! I randomly got it when I was a kid and ended up loving it!
It's so good!
Woh you bring back the memories i had played soul of darkness on my nokia 2700 classic and one thing this games keeos it apart from other castlevania/metrodvania games is that protagonist can become some of the monsters
Great video, every single game on the list I had never heard of and also looked like fun.
Hope you enjoy them if you get round to playing them!
Pang: Magical Michael.
It was only released in Europe and in Sept 2010, less than 6 months before the 3DS would succeeded it. It's the last console release by Mitchell Corporation and the final game in the Pang!/Buster Bros. series. It's the best one too, by far. I didn't understand the scoring system until this game and you have to master it since scores are tied to unlocking future levels. The music is wonderful, the level variety is great, and I love the new protagonist.
I beat the game (including the post game) during COVID and omg it was a joy to play. Fun fact too! It's the only Pang! game that lets you jump (in certain levels).
Blood of Bahamut is one of those games where I've had it on my list from 10 years ago and will always get around to... one day.
Great video, some genuine hidden gems I’ve not heard of before. I’ll definitely be giving Core a try.
Glad you found something new!
C.O.R.E. is a goddamn gem that got shafted way too hard on release
Wow I never heard a single game on the list and I want to play all of them...even the Visual Novel one. Amazing list as always
Hope you found something you want to give a go!
Fighting Fantasy was actually based on the Fighting Fantasy book The warlock of Fire mountain which was a pretty pretty big success when it came out and a fan favorite.
Having read many choose your own adventure book including that one i instantly recognized its origin when i started playing lol
Wow I’m late but I’m here another lovely video from TVGS keep them coming my man
More on the way =)
This is a great hidden gem list. I have already played Legend of Kage 2 (lovely music) and Soul of Darkness so looking forward to the rest!
Hope you enjoy them!
I loved Izuna series. I was on a mystery dungeon kick and the waifus helped
I remember thinking Fighting Fantasy was like a portable Skyrim...
Thinking about it now that I know about FromSoft legacy games it shares a lot of DNA with King's Field
When I you put up fighting fantasy I knew you were actually talking as a gamer
Im going to check out Fighting Fantasy and Away Shuffle Dungeon.
Hope you enjoy them!
One day, Big Bang Mini WILL feature on one of your lists
I’ll have to check it out 🙂
I’m going to definitely check Izuna and Time Hallow! I’m sorry but who is the char in your thumbnail? Thanks for your videos man they are so good
So much nds gems missed games like:
-Nanashi no Game
-Solatorobo
-Estpolis lufia curse of sinistrals
-Tales of Hearts
-Xenosaga I & II
-Cross Treasures
-Mugen no Frontier
-Soma Bringer
-Maplestory DS
-Element Hunters
-Kaijuu busters
-Wizmans world
-Jump ultimate stars
-C.o.r.e
-Claymore
-Nostalgia
-Moon
the background music on this video is 10/10
great taste on vgm to whoever selected those tracks.
I've heard the song, but I can't for the life of me remember the game
Cheers!
@@grabs_zel4547 If you're talking about the tracks at the beginning and end, they're from VA-11 Hall-A :)
Bless this channel ❤
Sweet new list of games to add to my game list
Have fun mate!
@@thatvideogamesshow i will👍
I love Fighting Fantasy, this game is realy hidden gem and underrated game and Orcs&Elves is other great game, they were responsible for making me like first-person dungeon crawlers.
I have both and I wouldn't sell them for anything.
MECHASSAULT! Great callout, love the game
Such a great spin off!
14:24 hooly this game look so impressive.
Great list of actual hidden gems!
Cheers Trew!
Blood of Bahamuth got my attention, it looks awesome.
You had me in the first half but the second one I knew of all of them
Digimon World: Dawn & Dusk (before Pokemon Sun and Moon), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime, Drawn to Life, and Lock's Quest (even though the final battle is impossible I swear).
Thank you for your videos. Can please do list with only 2d view games on DS like games from older consoles.
I loved my ds non-stop back in my days playing hundreds of games from it but what da heck! I didn't know these awesome games existed! I suddenly googled them to see their release date coz I thought there are new created games
There’s a game called orion’s odyssey and less than a 100 people played it. It is genuinely the most underrated game ever made imo.
If Blood of bahamut would have gotten a 3ds remaster it would have been crazy with the 3d
The DS games were my childhood but I played tnem on the 3ds mostly
Lol mech assault! I remember playing that
Amazing stuff!
Thanks!
I love youuu thatvideogameshow, ive been watching you for 2 years now❤
Thank you!
I feel like that first game "soul of darkness" , I have played that before but not in ds maybe in some other place? But I do recognise that one
I have Souls of Darkness, it is definitely "we have Castlevania at home"
I enjoyed playing Time Hollow when I was at the hospital.
Damn, I didn't know of a single one of these games and they all look great!
Hope you enjoy them!
I think I will try them all... Thanks
Have fun!
Soul of Darkness is from Gameloft right. There's Java version for the mobile phone
I remember playing it back on my little phone back in the day
OK that makes more sense now. It's not just a Metroidvania clone, it's basically a watered down SotN. And they did that with a lot of their games.
I loved Izuna, I played a lot and I'm really looking forward to the new game they announced a while ago
Didn’t know about the new game, thanks for the tip!
Magical Starsign was great!
i'm being pedantic here, but "kage" is pronounced closer to "kah-gey". it's the japanese word for "shadow". awesome list though! there's so much on DS i never knew about.
Best people know. Legend of Cage sounds so silly.
You're partially right on the pronunciation. It's kah-geh, not -gey
@@louvella-sama yeah, you're right, that's a better way to spell out the pronunciation. either way, it's definitely not pronounced the same way as the english "cage".
@@louvella-sama what's the difference?
I've never heard of Soul of darkness, but I think it's a very interesting game. This looks like Castlevania but more casual.
It’s well worth giving a go if you’re a fan of Castlevania!
Where's Part 1? I can't find it on your uploads anywhere.
I always felt like there were a ton of ds games that may as well have been on a 3d system, but sadly I don't believe that a lot of those games I'm thinking of ever got 3ds versions/upgrades. megaman star force? and two of the games in this list. the fps dungeon crawler and the shadow of the colossus type game.
0:15 A great Java game (on DS, not so much).
7th dragon, tales of innocence, fossil fighters, were three of my favorite to play, sadly some didnt get an official release so fan translations fill the gaps
Soul of Darkness was a game from DsiWare. I don't think you can find a proper rom for it to be played in regular DS, only, maybe in DSi. Is that right ?
Yeah would would need twilight menu to play dsi games
Thanks a lot brother
My pleasure!
When you make a Part 3 please Add G-Force and Custom Robo Arena.
Didn’t know about legend of kage 2 😮😊 time hallow and Izumi ❤❤
Izuna is a great and funny game.
Blood of Bahamut it good, i buy a bunch of DS games a couple year ago and it was one of them. All the hunters have they own fighting style and it easy master everyone, the gameplay it's a bit repetitive but not boresome.
Still can’t get over how good Blood of Bahamut is. Such a solid rpg!
Soul of Darkness is a DSiware game.
exactly!!
blood of bahamut looks sick
It’s a banger!
I think there's a reason people never talk about Tempest...
Add on list Death JR and the science fair of doom and insecticide
Thanks for the suggestions!
Insecticide!👍
Time Hollow really was good tho
hey guys have you saw the game Bloodless? It's kinda unique.
(4:49) "Fighting Fantasy The Warlock on Firetop Mountain" is not a bad game it's well flawed and parts that are very buggy to the point the game freezes.
It just needs better tweaking(example the hitbox for projectiles is all wrong and doesn't match very well) and bug fixes though there's only one bad part about it though and that would be the chest traps. Wish there was a way to fix the chest traps because it ruined the flow of gameplay.
Guess its time to use my DSi again 😮
Blood of Bahamut not releasing in North America should be considered a crime!
I would add Soma Bringer. So sad we didnt get a sequel...
That game is incredible!
Soul of Darkness wasn't released physically it seems, so I'm SOL.
Yes, kinda sad. It looks so gorgeous
i gotta go with nostalgia and radiant historia
Great RPGs!
Do you know what happened to ROTR from Nibris (aka Raid Over the River)?
big bang mini
14:31 ❤ never heard of this, this game is probably super cheap in Japan
