It's very helpful I just bought a boat with the same engine you have and I'm going to do all the maintenance that it needs and you have done the most for your's I was using Yamaha engines before so it's a bit different to me but almost the same So my question is : when you opened the drain plugs for the lower unit I think it should have a gasket / washer and it should be changed ? Did you change it ? specially with the lower unit because it will be stiffened and will allow water to go in and will be mixed with the oil 🤔 This happened to me and also my friend had the same issue in the Yamaha engine We were just inspecting the lower unit oil and we returned the plug without changing the gasket and we got water in the gear unit 😔

I am not familiar with Yamahas. It should be changed yes. I inspect it because I do it annually and change as needed.
