I thought I wanted a 3.0 Diesel a while back but thinking now on longevity, and I think you've mentioned the 5.0 motor as the choice there, so what is the best engine in a half ton for longevity and ease of use while towing? (At least with Ford's 2.7, 3.5, and 5.0) And do you have experience with the 2.7 or the 5.0?

I guess since this review, Ford has stopped making this with a diesel option. From some of the videos I have seen by mechanics that are Ford specialists, the abhor working on them. I own a Ford F-150 powerboost so I am not a Ford troll. Here is one video of a mech talking about changing a thermostat on the 3.0 th-cam.com/users/shortsfP5qzV2S7tk?si=hKXyDKUpzqiA2jRR

Some of your points I agree with but all electric cars and trucks will not work for everyone or everything. I think you made the point for that in the video. Even with the technology we have now there is no way a lithium ion battery can be fully charged in the amount of time it takes to fill up a gas or diesel car or truck. I drove a 3.0 Powerstroke v6 diesel in 2018 and liked it a lot. I don’t really tow trailers but just do a lot of commuting. I’m at a point in life where I don’t care about being the fastest or flashiest. I think a hybrid gas or diesel F-150 would be great with all the things you was saying about higher payload and brakes and trailer towing capability.

Good assessment. The 3.0L Duramax is without question a better engine, but when the whole truck is taken into account, I'll stick with my F-150 diesel. Pulling the transmission for an oil pump belt is likely no worse than disassembling the front of the engine on this Powerstroke at the same mileage to get at the timing belt and then tearing into the back side for the fuel pump belt. Time the oil pump belt with a transmission fluid change and the cost/labor would not be excessive.
Ford made some borderline criminal omissions with the 3.0L, such as not offering a heavy duty payload package, any larger fuel tanks, or an 8' bed. I'll keep watching to see how this thing fares over the coming year(s) as your total mileage should exceed mine within 2 years or so; I appreciate the updates.

Yeah I think the 3.0 is just too small for real hauling like it’s big brothers.
