We owned one of these back in the 80's and took it to Bermuda 2 times. Both times we hit rough weather and big seas and she handled it as well as any 32' boat could! She sailed well too! What a deal at $17k. Someone needs to buy this boat! Thanks for that walk down memory lane. If my dad were still alive he'd have enjoyed this episode for sure!
That is one of the best kept boats that I've ever seen. You don't haggle over a boat of this quality. It would be impolite to even mention money. Just write a cheque and put it in an envelope. So what if she needs a few toys. The money that you will save on remedial work and maintenance, will easily cover some second hand instruments. Thank you, gentlemen. Another gem.
No kidding. The engine is 20 years old but has obviously been meticulously maintained as has the rest of the boat. I suspect the owner will get offers over and above the asking price.
I have never owned a boat or been aboard a "real" sailboat. I watch each episode with a dream in my heart. Trouble is I'm 68 and not handy at all. I need to find a sailor friend! East coast South Florida! Somebody need a lump for the ride? I'm good for an early morning (3 a.m.) watch :)
Welcome to the club of sailboat dreamers! My dad recently bought his first sailboat, and he’s 79. I’m on my third boat and still dreaming. Chase the dream!
My advice would be to go to a local marina and hang out with sailors there. They often are happy to have an extra hand on board, and willing to show you the ropes. Then, once you made some friends... go buy a small 20'-25' daysailor of your own. Smaller boats are certainly affordable and with a bit of hunting you should be able to find one in good shape for less than $5k, trailer and all. All lines led aft (which you can easily do even if you're not handy - and other sailors in a marina are usually more than willing to help). Perfect for someone wanting to day/weekend sail and be reasonably comfortable even with a buddy while doing so.
This boat is exactly what I want in a boat. Not to complicated. Not to much work to get ready. beautifully laid out. Simple systems. Oldie but a goodie. I would buy it in a heartbeat if I was in the market.
An interesting boat. A plus is the owner’s Maintenace and the price. It is easy to see the bias of simplicity which is sure easier to modify than a boat that is too complicated. Thanks Captain and Ran-Day.
Captain Q is always entertaining and must have the sailing vessel knowledge of the ages. And thanks to Rand- Day as he calls you for your Directorial, filming and editing expertise.
i feel like the european market at the moment would value that boat at around 50k. i envy you guys over there for these reasonable priced boats you got in the US.
I love to listen Tom you so easily display your extensive sailing vocabulary so easily and with such ease and familiarity. You use terms I have heard only in passing and it reminds me of when the English teacher would say “ use it in a sentence”. Thank you.
My wife and I enjoy each episode. We haven’t yet traded the power boat for sails but someday. Thanks for sharing so much and helping us dream a little each episode.
As a day sailor or weekend getaway it exudes perfection . This is a man's boat lacking a few niceties for the ladies but then they are bad luck on a boat. Old school cool. Love the yawl sail plan. " Give me a tall ship and a star to steer by". Thank you, Randay and Capt. Q
You can see the owner was meticulous about looking after the boat, totally immaculate and a snip at the price. If I was nearer it would be mine. Great show from captain q and randy...
We bought one ! Ours is a 1980 and we are doing many projects to get her ready for the Bahamas. We've only sailed her a couple of times but she handles really well, faster than expected. Lots of things to do but it's all good. Definitely a solid boat. 👍

This is a really nice find. Would make a great entry to sailing “big boats” for someone new to sailing and wants something a bit forgiving, yet still able to get into shallow mooring areas. Such an awesome boat! It’s simple but it’s ready for a new owner to update or replace items what they would want! It would also allow the new owners to use the boat and make their improvements as they could and/ or wanted. It’s the safety, quality of build and how has it been maintained not that, hey it doesn’t have a radar system or an up to date radio, etc. Yes the new owners would need to get all the new updated Bling they need, just not the first afternoon! Awesome Boat and wish I could pull the trigger now!

Fabulous, big fun, and informative again and again,,, wonderful. Thoroughly enjoying the production, the music, and the wide range of boats and prices you have explored. Many thanks to you both...
We all sure love your videos Cap. Currently I am chartering a Catalina 36 to satiate my sailing addiction but next year my ducks will be sufficiently aligned so buying another boat will become a reality. In the meantime your videos are really great for helping in the decision making process.
Thank you so much for reviewing the gorgeous Endeavour 32 Captain Q. I literally teared up, as I had one vof these as my last Mast and Sails Boat, and shewas in the same sort of condition when .I got her, a shallow Draft Long keel Not Centre Board, Sloop . She was a 1978, and as tough as old boots, which saved my life when she was attacked by A Wrecking Gang dressed as NY Harbour Employees, in New York Harbour, after another member of the gang Hacked my GPS, forcing me to heave to, while attempting to sort out the problem. Turned out, the Charts had been deleted as well, so the "Employees asked where I was heading- anchorages on the Hudson - and them telling me to follow them there, they led me into a really vicious Tidal Rip Rapids, as I was keeping central between the 2 "NYH" Water Buggies leading me, both of them well to the sides of the Tidal Rip. Well the Boat slammed into the bottom several times, so hard, the stainless steel alchohol stove in the Cabin, was beaten into a mangled pulp, along with me at the wheel. There was a big wave upsurge at the end of the Rip, and with full throttle to the 22 hp almost new Yanmar, she climbed Out of the Rip, with me still alive in the Cockpit. As soon as the "NYH Employees " Saw me still alive in the Cockpit, they turned tail and fled the scene, followed by my curses. However the damage was done, both to me, and the poor Boat . My first reaction was to fight, so I headed to the pontoon where their boss was, we had stopped there on the way , and as I was shouting about what the hell they though they were doing, he switched off the lights and going the cabin, hid from view. Thoughts then turned to flight, as unlike them likely being armed, I was unarmed, so tried heading South to clear the area, but it felt like the keel had serious damage, and the steering was very difficult to manage, and after getting a possibly safe distance, totally exhausted and badly bruised, I passed Out, hopefully a safe distance from shore, hove to. Next I knew, the boat was on the rocks. But I was still alive, but everything I had, was lost with the boat. Frankly, I couldn't recommend a better Boat for anyone to trust their life to, and if the buyer avoids NY Harbour at night, or similar, they should be fine. It turned Out that Boats are being lost at that spot all the time, and thanks to having such a strong full length keeled Boat, I am very likely the first one to survive such an attack, which has likely been going on there for years . Most basic point I suppose, is Always have a fully set up and ready to go backup Navigation available, which can be a cheap Tablet with GPS and Charts, plus backup Paper Charts as well, and put the Tablet in a Faraday Cage Bag or metal container or both, for cheap insurance. I hope to get back Afloat in a boat Captain Q, but my days of masts and Sails are over, and I'm thinking a sub 40 ft twin diesel-powered economical Coastal Cruising semi displacement Cruiser like a Bayliner, but one without much wood to look after, despite loving the wood, as being disabled means reducing things like wood maintenance as much as possible from now on for me, so the more recent 3587 to 3988 type models, for Coastal Cruising, and with care, the Caribbean. By the way, a few Naval Architects bought those Endeavour 32's, and the modifications one of them had recommended, had already been done to mine, prior to getting it, such as replacing those plastic portholes with storm proof Stainless Steel ones. I probably need to save up for another 2cyears before being able to buy another boat. I literally lost everything with the Endeavour. But the great work done by you and others, is helping to keep the flame of enthusiasm and ambition to get Afloat again, burning brightly. Best wishes, and keep up the great work. Bob from Wales in the UK. 👍🙂🏴 eta, fixed typo's as I'm a single finger touchscreen typist, and errors slip through. Go Hum. 👍
Wow. That’s crazy. They hacked into your GPS/ plotter? I’d definitely travel with a firearm after that. I saw another TH-camr saying similar things about the Caribbean and if you anchor up and jump on your dingy they watch from the show and steal everything off your boat.
@@jls41nj1 I'm going to be looking into how possible it will be to properly secure the boat networks so Common now, and make engine controls etc immune from being messed with, plus have at least 2 tablets or 1 + laptop fully set up with GPS Navigation put I to Faraday cages so they can't be tampered with, plus paper charts and a Sextant plus current Navigation books for my next boat, that's for sure. Twin diesel Motor Yacht likely possible early to mid 2023, fingers crossed, Banking on a lot of good secondhand boats increasingly coming to market around them, plus my Silver Bullion Insurance being able to pay off in the meantime. Best Wishes, and Happy Boating, plus have a great 2022. Bob. 👍🙂🇬🇧🏴🇺🇲
@@brownnoise357 sounds like a plan. I’m currently looking for something. I’ve owned 4 powerboats over the years and I’m thinking about a sailboat. But there’s pros and cons to each. I dream about sailing down to the Florida keys and Bahamas 🇧🇸 and possibly island 🏝 hopping around the Caribbean once I retire. That’s 6 years away and a lot can change. Plus right now it seems the prices on everything are inflated. Good luck 🍀 to you with your search. Take care. Jack
G`day Captain and Ran-day, well you`ve done it again another brilliant find, simply lovely. Great simple design, super sturdy, built to last, in fantastic shape for its age. What a bargain. I've always liked the interior teak and fittings of that Endeavour... My only concern is the keel design. They were truly built to last, but the owner deserves a special congratulations for maintaining that beauty. Good find, and excellent video Cap'n!
For every first exposure to sail boatology, the captain and randy do a excellent job as a primer to learn and study from, kudos to the duo of so much information, thanks!
23.17 strong, clever, beautifully maintained. The boats not bad either. I liked that final drone shot Randay, such a nice neck of the woods, I'd like to see more of those panoramic views. Thanks gentlemen!
what a delightful episode!, ..wonderful boat/sailing/designer history insight, and such a caring dedicated owner, BZ! ps well we all know which berth Sea Dog chose!
So you have to completely remove the upper portion of the self-steering to tack the mizzen? Or would you douse the mizzen sail, unhook the boom sheet, tack, then re-attach the boom sheet? (And rebalance sails and self-steering, of course). Or, I suppose is the case, the mizzen boom extends so far aft that the boom sheet is never a concern.
CQ is looking especially sharp in this episode. Crispy white button down, spiffy socks, and signature Nantucket reds. When is the CQ apparel line coming out? Red shorts, not so much! 😊 😊 😊 Really sharp boat too. Obviously well-loved and beautifully simple. Having the mizzen sheet on the wind-vane mount is a bit odd, though. I guess you can run one or the other: mizzen sail or wind vane, but not at the same time. Even still, she’s a real gem for a good price, I think.
@@YachtHunters ‘Haberdasher’ - “a dealer in men's clothing” - yet another term added to my master class study notes, along with hundreds of others I’ve learned while watching this channel, and thus noted alphabetically, right before Hatchboards, Hausehole, and Hawser 😊 😊 😊.
Where is the centerboard? Is there a pocket inside of the keel that it swings down from? I also thought people preferred keel stepped masts for blue water sailing. I sailed a swing keeled Catalina once in Boston Harbor and thought the keel was going to rip the bottom of the boat out because it was swinging up and down in rough seas.
While sipping a glass of French rosé wine, I think I've enjoyed this review as much as Captain Q and Ran-day did while doing it (maybe more than they did :) ).... you both make this channel fun (love the Monty Python cameo), entertaining but what appeals to me is the knowledge I gain from each episode as I think I am getting better at evaluating what kind of sailboat I should be looking for in the near not so far future before I make the leap toward this dream, Thank you again, keep it coming I really do enjoy learning from your experience and wisdom.... merci beaucoup

For every first exposure to sail boatology, the captain and randy do a excellent job as a primer to learn and study from, kudos to the duo of so much information, thanks!
Nice video Captain, and I love your choice of car!
Thanks!
The keel design is awsome!
Stay the course cpt great shows
23.17 strong, clever, beautifully maintained. The boats not bad either. I liked that final drone shot Randay, such a nice neck of the woods, I'd like to see more of those panoramic views. Thanks gentlemen!
We can definitely show some more glamour shots of the New England coast… unless the drone goes for a swim…
How do people dislike a video like this? Can't please um all I guess. Land lovers I expect
If I could swing it I would grab this boat so fast!cream puff!! And a yawl to boot,so versatile the yawl!priced rite!🤗👍👌
I am a big fan of Ted Irwin's designs. My first sail was a a Irwin Citation 31 I kept in Tarpon Springs for years.
He was very clever with the pencil… we also enjoy his work a lot
I got to meet Ted at his shop in Clearwater back in the 90s. Brilliant guy.
Love the history lessons every time!
Awesome episode, great boat, what a gem!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well done! You both always seem to get my sea legs, inspired.
Sea Dog sure is quiet.
Camera shy…
@@YachtHunters Seadog is looking sharp in his new harness.
what a delightful episode!, ..wonderful boat/sailing/designer history insight, and such a caring dedicated owner, BZ! ps well we all know which berth Sea Dog chose!
Sea dog always gets there first…
Lunch for two of a kind.... SUPER Cool, keep it up, love...
Now that is a beaut sailboat which would fit my needs.....Thanks Guys.....now to win a lottery. Yes, I am a dreamer.
What a steal, pick it up someone!
Happy days.!!
19:07 An overhead grab bar would give you something to hold onto while you slide your feet into the berth.
Great idea… we can always use more of those
Very nice, thanks for showing.
So you have to completely remove the upper portion of the self-steering to tack the mizzen? Or would you douse the mizzen sail, unhook the boom sheet, tack, then re-attach the boom sheet? (And rebalance sails and self-steering, of course). Or, I suppose is the case, the mizzen boom extends so far aft that the boom sheet is never a concern.
shearing is tearing, and sharing is caring!
😂
Please tell me this is still for sale ? Thank you for sharing. Your videos are amazing.
Thanks, David.... We heard it sold a few months ago... not to worry we'll keep looking for gems like this!
What a wonderful boat! Great find!
Great episode...Thanks guys.....
Damn! What a bargain, and I won't be able to purchase a boat for another 1-2 years , this one will be long gone by then.DAMN!
Really enjoy the show! A fine production. I propose a winter edition with Q and Ran-day at La Marine Martinique.
Ran-day has sailed those waters and would love to return someday... thanks, andrew!
Cracking vid gentlemen. And now...off to t people called Nih!!
I shall let the haberdasher know… 😂
@@YachtHunters ‘Haberdasher’ - “a dealer in men's clothing” - yet another term added to my master class study notes, along with hundreds of others I’ve learned while watching this channel, and thus noted alphabetically, right before Hatchboards, Hausehole, and Hawser 😊 😊 😊.
On the daft you mentioned it had a centerboard but did not show how the centerboard was lowered. I assume from the cockpit and not inside,
Yiss, every one of this makes me happy
Where is the centerboard? Is there a pocket inside of the keel that it swings down from? I also thought people preferred keel stepped masts for blue water sailing. I sailed a swing keeled Catalina once in Boston Harbor and thought the keel was going to rip the bottom of the boat out because it was swinging up and down in rough seas.
A very, very nice boat, especially when considering the price. I'm pretty sure it's gone by now. Keep the good stuff coming.
Thank you, Mr Lightning
Just found this channel, and have watched 3 or 4 videos. Lots of fun to watch. New subscriber.
Welcome aboard!! Glad to have you along! 👍
I got excited right away, my name is Jim....
Merci beaucoup á toi, aussi! 🍷
Nice jag britsh 😀wow that's my yacht
Parts and service for Yanmar are readily available which is important. Price seems more than reasonable for a well-kept vessel
All boats are a compromise, considering the size there are very few compromises in that old girl. Nicely done sailboat.
Love the opening story.
I need to make it back out to Maine. Stuck in the wrong Portland right now…
That Portland is quite good too…
