A bit off topic but applicable ! My wife asked me why i like and thumbs up every video i watch ? It may be an old fashioned but i appreciate the effort and time that goes in to producing a short video and then post it for free ! i think the least people can do is to click the thumbs up and leave a comment if you liked the content it helps the poster and costs you nothing. Come on just leaving a thumbs up emoji it really helps. I am nothing to do with this channel and i am not a sailor but i love the content and have learnt so much. You never know what the future holds and who knows maybe one day 🤞Loving the content and cant wait to see that beautiful Yacht in action. ❤
"Nothing radical... I still think of it as an all-American boat." 'Couldn't agree more Capt. I think that's as apt a description as has ever been given of O'Day's cruisers. Practical, economical to maintain, comfortable, stable, safe and yet modestly fast: How many families started cruising together on a 20-something O'Day? Seeing this 34' just takes all the attributes of the smaller O'Day's and adds a level of comfort and even speed to the mix. I hope someone takes this boat and returns her to the water soon. She deserves it.
Thanks for reviewing! I bought my O’Day 35 last year after having watched your series. Your assessment seems about right. Keep up the great work, gents.
Hope you enjoy it! thanks for sharing your story makes us feel warm and fuzzy hahah seriously we love to hear folks start to drink th Kool And it really is a great way to travel
Wow, great looking boat and a great price! Very well kept too. I actually like the simple, easy to maintain exterior. Below deck, it really does not look like a budget boat.
I was shocked out how well they were outfitted 'in the day'. A friend's dad bought one and sailed her everywhere. They LOVED it! I had many a time sailing her around- she was a cruiser that moved. Nice boat & this one looks great!
I wish I could be there for the cruise with Captain Q and Ran-day. I'll be in the gulf hopefully burning a little wind of my own! Have fun and I'll catch you soon.
Love this boat! I often sail and sometimes race on an Oday 35 which is the same boat with a swim/boarding platform built into the transom. My skipper moved the main sheet block down into the cockpit. It is just a pleasure to sail and it is quite fast even on an inland lake. It will also move in very light air.
Now that's the stuff that fun and affordable dreams are made of. Were I single and younger this would be perfect to single hand anywhere I wanted to go or an excellent choice for a young adventurous couple. Simply provision and go, what an extremely nice find. Thank you gentlemen, I bet she won't be setting long unless there's something found in a survey because she looks pretty mint...

I had a chance to sail on the America II (44) in Maui. She was modified for charter service - hence no coffee grinders. It took three of us to haul up the mainsail, as the total crew was two. Just putted along until we picked up the trade winds. Suddenly that boat took off like a rocket. A truly memorable ride. I also remember the O'Days, as well as crewing on the Rhodes 19 in Old Greenwich during the summer.
@@YachtHunters Indeed it was. I also remember that in 1962 walking into the Luders yard in Stamford, CT. Up on the ways was Weatherly, getting her bottom polished. Right next to her was Columbia. Tied up at the dock was Vim, an Australian boat that was the race partner for Gretel. What a sight. Glad to see there are still a couple of 12 meters out workin' the waves.
You guys found another gem of a boat. My brother had an O'Day back in the day. The two of us would invite a couple of girls to go "sailing". *Sigh*. I always liked that boat and we sure had fun. Cap'n Q and Ran-Day, thanks for another great episode.
Wonderful sailboat, Randay finally brought a pillow for the ol Captain... wish I was back on the right coast I would love a cruise with the fellas... great job as per usual.
What a treat this episode is to see. My friend just bought a 1979 O'Day 37 in British Columbia from an engineer who sold the original autopilot design and technology to RayMarine.
Thank you for showing this O’Day. As usual I thoroughly enjoyed the video. You guys are great! We sail an O’Day 240 here on our local lake near Cincinnati Ohio and love the boat. I plan to sail the great loop and this 34 looks like a fantastic option. Wholesome it is.
I grew up as an indigenous man. And yes, also i continue to experience a life of such people. there is this one ship in the Northwest Passage in Baffin island. I dream of taking you two, this old ship of a scotsman Bill Mackenzie( sitting for 80 years) has sat left on the beach arrect. Not sure if i can say its for sale, but as in the direct lineage to the people of that bay, i know Captain Q would be loved in my community. Randayyy yes you would be invited too say the least... love you guys.
What a well-maintained and clean boat. I thought the interior was huge and fresh-looking. Great review. You guys outdid yourself on a boat that I could see owning. (Low maintenance.)
Gorgeous boat, looks like new. My first time sailing was with my brother and uncle in his O'Day Widgeon, a 12-foot center boarder, on a lake in Wisconsin. The seed planted that day took over two decades to germinate, but definitely blossomed once it did. 🙂 I later owned an O'Day 20, one of many sailboats I've owned. Don't know that I'd wanna sail this 34 to Bermuda but apparently someone did. 🥴
Hey, I haven't heard about the "Event(s)" I pray that the "Event(s)" are at least mentioned. Of course your timing is remarkable for the start of the RACE on Friday. Wow. Can't avoid mentioning the huge cameo for Stan and Sally Honey sailing with their Cal 40. Again thank you so much for these video's and your sharing all of the backstory. Just Great !
I've been following the videos ... thought I wanted a little 23 foot full keel on trailer to put in the harbor for day/weekend sails. Found a vagabond holder20 in perfect shape with 8 sails, 2 spinnakers, engine, gps, vhf, trailer, and safety equip, tons of extras... Ann was selling house got it all for $500.. just registered trailer, and boat, bottom paint done... lets go racing,... LOL...hopeful for mooring near Old Lyme CT, best regards, Preston

Nice tour! I completed my ASA104 on an O'Day 34. Made for a really good experience for this novice. Didn't feel cumbersome in the marina while being solid in modest seas (Light Rain, 28kn wind, 6ft swells).
Nice boat but I was entirely distracted by the three boats I could see nearby. 🙂 If I could, I would certainly join you both in Newport! I hope you both sail there and back!
I always love your assessments of the boats you look at and also love listening to the both of you, such camaraderie... Although Randay says it's in the contract.. LOL
I would love to sail on Heritage with you guys but don’t think I can swing it. I raced against her in the Chicago Mac for years while she was in Chicago. Then I got a chance to race on her as a promotional trial horse against Buddy Melges and his Heart of America challenge for the Americas Cup. She was a masthead rig during that time. I got a chance to drive her too. I think the helm is the same I was behind. Awesome beautiful boat. I’m so happy to see its in such great shape.
Our first "real boat" was an O'Day 31. Before we owned a house, my wife and I bought this first. Sailed in in LIS and moved it out to Lake Minnetonka in MN. Put a racing bottom on it. Spent more than the boat was worth with North Sails -- and created and absolute PHRF killer. To this day i miss the simplicity, clean design and just easy sailing.
A few of those O'day 16's made it down here to Oz, apparently they're pretty quick and sail well. $23,500 for this boat looks like a good buy, you seem to have a lot of good buys in the US. I suppose the sheer amount of boats would make it easier to find a good deal compared to us down here in Australia, with only 26 million people, compared to the US with well over 300 million people
Wow only 26. I’m surprised but numbers do drive everything in this world. Thanks for checking in Mate and for watching as well I have to visit your island someday cheers !
Would love to go sailing with you all in Newport this June. However, we already have our vacation set for that week so we will have to miss out. Hope you do it again soon and give us more fare warning time to fit it into our schedule.

Love this Yacht. BTW when you show the Yachts can you tell us tank size water and fuel. Black as well if they have one. Thanks great show. To decide if Cruiser or Coastal.
hello great cinematography , great presentation , great weather, I like too go in you boat And salute the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NATIONAL FLAG, and cruise the AMERICAN CONTINENT, too comical, saludos my yankee brothers
I love the lines and the sailing ability of the Eticson ( wasn’t crazy about the compression post design ) 😬 But thanks so much for watching and your comments
How do you two keep finding these gems? You must have a huge crew out there scouring the boat yards of the east coast looking for these. Wonderful boat for the price. Definitely a 36. Thank you as always. Now to start searching used boat sites here on the west coast for one of these gems.
ALPA BRISE is the name of those small fast, lightweight crafts. We just sold ours for a very good sum as she was in mint condition considering her age.
@@YachtHunters is the meet, sail on the 19, 20, 21. In Newport Harbor RI. I am in N. Italy, so very arduous to get from here to there, more the drive from JFK. I just know it would be lovely to meet you both. Also, I am in the market and this one posted today is almost perfect 🥰 Thank you so much for the dreaming you inspire
6:00 Regarding the less than perfect bottom paint. Has anyone ever compared a rough finish hull to a smooth finish hull in regards to measurable drag? Golf Balls have dimples because it makes the ball go farther.
I thought golf balls had dimples so they would look cute ..no? Seriously many keel one design boats which race very hard agsinst one another will prove the point. Identical designs fresh sails etc with the only difference being the level of skill of the crew will prove the boat with the smoothest bottom will win out The one place it really shows is racing in light air. The toughest sailing there is because unlike stormy weather where you more or less lash everything down and go fo it , in light sir you have to tease all the speed you can from constantly trining the sails to tenderly holding the wheel/tiller sensing every nuance of wind variation. The baby’s bottom will make your efforts easier Remeber even at hull speed you are only going 5-7 knots It’s not like opening your car window and damaging your air stream when you are doing 70mph. Do you follow
Fantastic value. Another great find. One concern is the engine looks like it has a lot of hours on it. There is a risk the price is explained by a worn-out engine. Still, for someone with $50k to spend, converting this boat to solar/electric (perhaps even Oceanvolt) would be a winner.
50K would get you this boat, a new engine, a new bottom, new sails, and maybe even new standing rigging. We paid $25000 for a brand new 40HP yanmar a couple years back, that is 2x the size of this little engine. This is the epitome of go simple, go small, and go now. I wouldn't even think about an all electric drive. Why ruin a good thing. In 6 months, you could be on this boat cruising the Caribbean. For folks looking to check out for a year or two and sail around, this is the boat all day long.

Nice 34.
Love this Yacht. BTW when you show the Yachts can you tell us tank size water and fuel. Black as well if they have one. Thanks great show. To decide if Cruiser or Coastal.
we try to remember to do that but we slip a little
Come to the Cheasapeake Bay ........... take us Merry Landers sailing!
Spent five years sailing there late 60-70s Thomas point light and fish traps and not much water but great racing
Beautiful!
Thank you for your note and for watching stay tuned
hello great cinematography , great presentation , great weather, I like too go in you boat And salute the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NATIONAL FLAG, and cruise the AMERICAN CONTINENT, too comical, saludos my yankee brothers
Wow. That America's Cup yacht is as old as I am......
looks young to me
great buy!!
Looks like a nice, clean boat. Interesting to compare it with my Ericson 35-3.
I love the lines and the sailing ability of the Eticson ( wasn’t crazy about the compression post design ) 😬
But thanks so much for watching and your comments
Thanks @@YachtHunters! My Ericson has a keel-stepped mast, so I don't believe the compression post concern would be an issue. Thanks!
I find that for cruising expenses it good to know waterline and overall deck length. Could you include those measurements?
Agreed.. will try to include those in the future
How do you two keep finding these gems? You must have a huge crew out there scouring the boat yards of the east coast looking for these. Wonderful boat for the price. Definitely a 36. Thank you as always. Now to start searching used boat sites here on the west coast for one of these gems.
sadly the "'scouring crew " is large !!!! notice the C Q measurements off to the side lol
ALPA BRISE is the name of those small fast, lightweight crafts. We just sold ours for a very good sum as she was in mint condition considering her age.
thank you
@@YachtHunters is the meet, sail on the 19, 20, 21. In Newport Harbor RI. I am in N. Italy, so very arduous to get from here to there, more the drive from JFK. I just know it would be lovely to meet you both. Also, I am in the market and this one posted today is almost perfect 🥰 Thank you so much for the dreaming you inspire
Thank you You would certainly win the door prize for furthest travelled
6:00 Regarding the less than perfect bottom paint. Has anyone ever compared a rough finish hull to a smooth finish hull in regards to measurable drag? Golf Balls have dimples because it makes the ball go farther.
I thought golf balls had dimples so they would look cute ..no?
Seriously many keel one design boats which race very hard agsinst one another will prove the point. Identical designs fresh sails etc with the only difference being the level of skill of the crew will prove the boat with the smoothest bottom will win out
The one place it really shows is racing in light air. The toughest sailing there is because unlike stormy weather where you more or less lash everything down and go fo it , in light sir you have to tease all the speed you can from constantly trining the sails to tenderly holding the wheel/tiller sensing every nuance of wind variation. The baby’s bottom will make your efforts easier
Remeber even at hull speed you are only going 5-7 knots It’s not like opening your car window and damaging your air stream when you are doing 70mph.
Well said! We’re really liking those regenerative systems… can’t wait to see one up close
I watched a couple of videos about the Oceanvolt system and it was really interesting. I do believe they are just saildrive systems, though.
For folks looking to check out for a year or two and sail around, this is the boat all day long.
.. Cheers to you ..
