Thanks again for another great boat. Thanks to you I rejoined a sailing club. Cat 27, Cat 26, Newport 24 and Victory sloops. I helped with maintenance yesterday and had lunch with some of the guys. I then went on a 3 hour sail to show my sailing skills. They let me join and I now can take a Victory out whenever I want. Thanks again for doing these videos and reminding me that I just needed to get back on the water again. You really make sailing sound fun (which it is).
Wonderful Show. It is easier to dream of this boat than to purchase her. The range of vessels you both show is important to frame the final selection. Thank you again
26:30-“...that’s a pretty nice mirror.”(Capt admiring the reflection, LOL!) You two make me laugh with EVERY episode! Please, never stop!! Love these ‘classic’ boats.
Grampian 26 all the way- keel and rudder are a dead give away. Too bad I don’t think I was first to say that though. Great boat for someone learning to sail.
Never thought it would happen at my age, but..... I'm in love ! No not you Capt. Q or you Randy !.... This beautiful organized and safety-minded boat. I have a new goal, find a boat like this that can be sailed single or short-handed or one to build on !
You almost lost me until you mentioned the Heat and AC. The only thing I question is the reverse Nav station, I like a forward facing Nav station but I could buckle down and change if push came to shove. Wonderful Yacht but I would quibble over the price to get a better deal. Very nice cruiser!
I love your channel just discovered it and binge watched all the episodes. What I do miss is some more tips or tricks to detect faults like on what cracks to watch out how to spot hidden problems. I’m looking to buy a boat. Love how you quiz the co host and us like this. Really again love the channel and hard work
Thank you for showing this super sailing ketch. This would be the one I would use for sailing in the sunset. But like you Kaptn Q. Age is the hindering factor. Thanks again! Great video!
I don’t think I have ever seen Capt Q so excited!!! She is gorgeous. Captain and Randy - question - with a boat like this, and for those of us who have land lives as well as our sailing love, what sort of sailing would you do with this boat? (By the way.. ‘`Randy you can keep Firefly..” 🤔)
There is lake, sea, and rivet sailing, coastal land dwellers may have Ocean, sea, fiord, inlet sailing, and time and resources permitting, blue water Ocean sailing including Great Circle. For S and East Coast, shallower draft and center-board vessels for the Caribbean (oh, also for Micronesia and Indonesia. There are many millions of willing wanting or actual sailors around the world.
Great to see the Yacht Hunters out working for us. Thanks guys! Next week's boat, I'm going with my first guess, Nimble. That 22 year old boat looks like somebody spent a lot of time working to pay for a boat they didn't have time to use. There sure are a lot of those.
Tomorrow is Thursday! I understand being tired, and hurricanes. I hope we get back on track (not a hurricane track either) for the highlight of my week which is Thursdays with Sea Dog, Ran-Day, and Captain Q!!! If not, I fully understand. Sometimes tiredness gets the best of me too.
Fantastic episode of a Yacht I truly covet- I would love to be so lucky to own a Shannon. Thank you for the great review. I learned tons! And my best guess for the mystery boat at the beginning of the episode is an Irwin Citation (which I now realize is pretty wrong... but close?) lol . :). Stephen Black
Great boat!!! I bought the book you recommended, Wolds Best Boats" and used it to search for all those makes and models. I found the boat you reviewed through that search! Great to see you Gents bring the character of the boat to life. When the damn covid thing stops - I'd like to head to the US, grab a boat like that Shannon and sail home to Sydney. Keen to know if you know anything about converting a US boat from 110v to 240v - can you just update the inverter? Also - keen to see if you Gents could review a Hallberg Rassy. I like the simple Swedish designs I think...
Before watching your videos, I was leery of old boats from manufacturers I hadn't hear of. Now it seems there are a ton of great older boats to have. But are there any stinkers out there? Any boats to avoid?
I love what you guys do and how you do it! I just discovered your show so now and must quarantine for 11 more days because of covid and catch up on all your reviews. Keep it up! That Shannon sure is sweet.
Spent time at sea as a young man and would love to return but alas won't sell the farm to do it. Love your videos very entertaining I'll settle for that. Thanks !,!
I love solid railings on the side of a boat, why are they not more common than wire guard rails? Is it something to with windage or perhaps complications for sail handling or that wire rails are less visable? Solid rails are just so much safer and confidence inspiring! Would like to see CaptainQ commenting on this matter on a review? Thank you Q and Randay.
Aren't the ones that open "portholes" and the ones that don't "portlights?" That was my understanding. But I could be wrong. Not like that's ever happened, but I suppose I _could_ be... Whoever buys this boat will have demonstrated that he or she has more going for him or her than just a bank account. It seems to be a very fine piece, well-constructed, well laid-out, sturdy and seamanlike and well-adapted to the task of blue-water cruising while still being of shallow enough draft to be useful in a large number of anchorages. Apparently this Walter Schultz guy had a handle on these things.
Oh Wow ! Super Super Beaut Sailboat. But Having just checked my Lotto Ticket, am unhappy to say I didn't win..Bugga. But thanks guys for teasing me with another sweet vessel....Cheers
G`day captain and Ran-day. Oh my lord what an incredible yacht...How stately and immaculate is this vessel. In pristine condition, brilliant layout and functionality. I can see why you were excited over this one Captain, Simply gorgeous. Yep ..it blew my mind, here's my global wave seeker. Love you guy's. Big thumbs up.
It's lovely, for sure. But there was just something about the Ted Hood Steel Yawl at $119,000 that spoke to me ... and with the $160,000 price differential you could /really/ make the Steel Yawl something special. Just saying :) But this is a great boat too, no question ... and thanks again Capt. and Ran-day for your tireless messing about on the water :)
Dropping 2 anchors is more of a tangle risk. Yes if a storm is coming and your gonna stay up all night to monitor. Better off with an oversized modern single anchor with plenty of scope.
Please forgive a beginners question....(I'm a day sailer, just now starting to dream of becoming more)... When you refer to a navigation area, what all can you observe and control there? What can you monitor there, and can you actually steer or guide the boat from there? Thanks!!
When we refer to a navigation area we’re thinking in terms of usually a small corner of the interior of the boat with a desk and directly adjacent to that desk all the circuit breakers and electronics required to navigate and communicate. Today more and more people are putting GPS and radar systems up on the helmsman‘s Binnacle protector. Although that has some convenience especially for just casual daysailer‘s I think it will be difficult to properly navigate through heavy weather breaking seas rain fog snow etc. My preference is to have all your major screens for radar and GPS in the quiet of the navigation area where it’s dry and you can chart on paper charts your course and direction and your current position. You do need a table or flat space on smaller boats the galley table will suffice very well. But it’s nice to have the luxury of your own little office so to speak to quietly navigate the boat. Often you can have a repeater for your auto pilot so if you’re offshore and not an immediate presence of other shipping you can make adjustments to your course right from the NAV station. I believe the helmsman or deck watch should have their concentration on the horizon and the instruments relating to wind direction and wind speed. You devise a course in and give that to the helmsman to focus on. Personally I also please do you prefer a minimum of light in the cockpit at night. And a lot of the helm mounted instrumentation can be very bright and blinding.
That square bow and the rounded railing around the genoa makes me think of the Bristol 27'. I think I'm wrong though because that boat has an even straighter bow line than even the Bristol...????
Ok, the mystery wrapped boat might possibly be a Ranger 33 or more probably a Buccaneer 320 (no thank you). Really enjoy your reviews. When I hear Shannon, I immediately think swing-keel centerboard. Nothing was mentioned on the 28'. This time you mentioned the swing-keel cable, but did not address the draft up/down. As I am always curious about bluewater cruisers, when applicable, please mention and educate us at to the inverter. Is the system only 110 or 220v. When traveling internationally, 220 is essential.
i could hear by the excitement in the good captain's voice that he was a big fan of that boat.
thnx for another dandy episode guys.
Three words to describe this boat: Simplicity, Elegance, Craftsmanship
Thanks again for another great boat. Thanks to you I rejoined a sailing club. Cat 27, Cat 26, Newport 24 and Victory sloops. I helped with maintenance yesterday and had lunch with some of the guys. You educate a novice such as myself in a way of life I know I will love the more I get into it. Thank you Captain Q!
Every Shannon I have seen only makes me want one more. So we'll built that decades later, still as new. Great yachts.
I appreciate your channel so very much! An escape for an old and retired Navy man; the love of sea and sailing...ageless.
26:30-“...that’s a pretty nice mirror.”(Capt admiring the reflection, LOL!)
You two make me laugh with EVERY episode! Please, never stop!! Love these ‘classic’ boats.
Grampian 26 all the way- keel and rudder are a dead give away. Too bad I don’t think I was first to say that though. Great boat for someone learning to sail.
The boat featured today is absolutely amazing! Thank you Captain Q and Ran-Day!
1:30, 2:05 upper left.. nice camera rig... nice gel coat.. great video.......Appreciate all the work! Miss your chapter menu..
Time spent with Captain Q snd Randay is quality time and "Instagram is not a place" gets me everytime!!😅😂🤣
Captain Q gives me hope for our future. He just seems like good people.
I can see why Q chuckled at that line cutter... Can't see how it would work being mounted so close to the hull like that.
Excellent job men! That was so much fun to see! It was worth the wait!!
You guys have the best boat channel on TH-cam. I look forward to every episode.
Thanks for the hard work and sharing your passion.
So true great boats, humour very educational
Shannon's are gorgeous and are built above most! Keep bringing the Shannon's!
Never thought it would happen at my age, but..... I'm in love ! No not you Capt. Q or you Randy !.... This beautiful organized and safety-minded boat. I have a new goal, find a boat like this that can be sailed single or short-handed or one to build on !
"I will find a way, or I will make one!" Love your attitude, all power to you!
Nice sailboat....but I like the little boat called Trooper in the back ground at the end.
You almost lost me until you mentioned the Heat and AC. The only thing I question is the reverse Nav station, I like a forward facing Nav station but I could buckle down and change if push came to shove. Wonderful Yacht but I would quibble over the price to get a better deal. Very nice cruiser!
I’m sure any seller will quibble with any quibbling buyer. Happy quibbling
I love your channel just discovered it and binge watched all the episodes. What I do miss is some more tips or tricks to detect faults like on what cracks to watch out how to spot hidden problems. I’m looking to buy a boat. Love how you quiz the co host and us like this. Really again love the channel and hard work
I would have scored this boat a 27. The extra point for having that beautiful black gel coat ! 😍
Amen! Beautiful!
“It’s wicked smooth”
Now I can rest peacefully.
You fellas are wonderful ! watch all the time !
What a beautiful boat I did notice when you were doing you're Rating if you look behind you there was a maybe Sister in black moored without Sticks up
Very very VERY nice boat.......thank you for sharing
Thank you for showing this super sailing ketch. This would be the one I would use for sailing in the sunset. But like you Kaptn Q. Age is the hindering factor. Thanks again! Great video!
You do such a great job touring these boats! Knowledgeable and charming. I love this boat, too. Thanks for the video!
This song is so good that it's one of the best songs i've ever heard.
She is a beauty! thanks for sharing with us!

Beautiful yacht. Really love the Shannon’s so well laid out for the crew. Thanks for another great review.
Grampian 26! The keel had me Ericson, but the notch in the rudder gave it away ultimately.
I think you're right!
Great to see the Yacht Hunters out working for us. Thanks guys! Next week's boat, I'm going with my first guess, Nimble. That 22 year old boat looks like somebody spent a lot of time working to pay for a boat they didn't have time to use. There sure are a lot of those.
I could love living on this boat in my back yard!(Only kid on the block).Love It! THX,MDL.
We should all be so lucky!!
OK, so when can I move in? I wish. You two are a real hoot. Fair winds laddies.
Thanks again for another excellent boat and more excellent video. Love your channel!
What a beautiful boat.
You are definitely right about it being a 26.
Another great video and again, thanks for the jazz! I never have to mute your videos!
I love how Capt. Q color coordinated his attire to the boat...........
Cherry! Not too often do you see an interior trimmed in cherry wood. That deserves another point. 27. Aloha 🤙

They made a beautiful boat , top stuff guy's 👏 👌 ❤ 👍
You're going to have to upgrade from the DM and Frixinet for this one. No expense spared on this gem.
Great episode!
The stuff dreams are made of. Thank you.
I need to check my lottery ticket.
That is a lot of boat but more money than most can think of putting towards one.
Good info as always from you both.
For the mystery boat at the beginning, I believe that it might be a Grampian 30
Add the pillows and you have a 27! Nice vessel. God Bless you guys.
Spent time at sea as a young man and would love to return but alas won't sell the farm to do it. Love your videos very entertaining I'll settle for that. Thanks !,!
you can tell Captain Q is very popular..... look at all those fans :P
As usual great job, keep ‘em coming
Great video! I want a Shannon bad! That one looks spectacular. 👍
I love solid railings on the side of a boat, why are they not more common than wire guard rails? Is part of your intro shot on the Eastern Prom in Portland. I lived in the old Longfellow Arms Hotel in the late 70's, so it has been awhile.
Nice guys good job! Interesting boat I would take it but I only buy boats in two’s
Top quality. This is how the the 1% sail .
Aren't the ones that open "portholes" and the ones that don't "portlights?" That was my understanding. But I could be wrong. Not like that's ever happened, but I suppose I _could_ be...

Oh Wow ! Super Super Beaut Sailboat. But Having just checked my Lotto Ticket, am unhappy to say I didn't win..Bugga.
But thanks guys for teasing me with another sweet vessel....Cheers
Is the mystery boat a Grampian 26? I hope so because I'd love to hear a review of what is a very inexpensive small cruiser.
I think you have it T.A.!
Nailed it!
The Shannon is very nice. Out of my budget. My guess is Ericsson 29 under the wrap!
If only I was younger and had more money. I will dream sweet dreams tonight. Thanks for finding this beauty.
Another great find Captain Q.
If you're looking for suggestions, how about a Nor'Sea, if you find one in your travels?
G`day captain and Ran-day. Oh my lord what an incredible yacht...How stately and immaculate is this vessel. In pristine condition, brilliant layout and functionality. Right on
Beautiful boat. Would love to see her underway. Was that your Jag and Audi parked out front? 🤣
WOWIE ZOWIE !!!....Thanks you 2....sweet dreams tonight...
Beautiful sailboat!!
What a gorgeous sailboat.. ⛵.. Just a dream, because that's my chances of owning it.. LOL..
That mystery boat has a Pearson looking rudder, so that’s my guess!
Was getting worried!! Thanks guys
Shawshank Redemption actor Morgan Freeman used to own a Shannon 43.
Loved this Shannon. Very nice
Would love to see you look at a Endeavour 43 cc
My God I thought you would never post guys. Nice one.
The unwrapped boat looks like an Ericson 32, keel looks similar to the Skithblathnar pacific seacraft / ericson.
Outstanding. The sea dog eats the stew and is winning
Dropping 2 anchors is more of a tangle risk. Yes if a storm is coming and your gonna stay up all night to monitor.
Better off with an oversized modern single anchor with plenty of scope.
I feel conflicted. It looks nice, but it looks like it’s never been used. Did someone buy a boat just to look at it?
Please forgive a beginners question....(I'm a day sailer, just now starting to dream of becoming more)... When you refer to a navigation area, what all can you observe and control there? What can you monitor there, and can you actually steer or guide the boat from there? Thanks!!

My guess is a sailboat! Love your videos! Keep them coming.
The dingy motor davit could also be a means to haul a man overboard up and out of the water?
Use a halyard with the mob ring and line stored in the special pack but in a pinch use any thing at hand
That square bow and the rounded railing around the genoa makes me think of the Bristol 27'. I think I'm wrong though because that boat has an even straighter bow line than even the Bristol...????
Are the electric winch buttons for 'in'' and 'out' or for one speed and the second button for the second speed?
My guess is a Nielsen 26. Great video as always!
I love that boat, OMG, if only I had the money. 🤔🤠⛵
Would you rather have this vessel or a Alden? I am looking at a 95 Alden 45, close in price.
Luxe boat. Where’s the berth for the wine captain , captain? Was that Freddy Hubbard serenading us out?
Stunning Shannon.
I believe she is still available. And she was a treat to see
Captain Q, tell them to hesitate in neutral when going between forward and reverse or reverse and forward.
Lovely boat, but the cabins seem a little small for one of this size.
Beautiful boat! Not cheap though!
Cal 25 boat guess.
Great videos!
Another great boat ,Captain Q

T Ackerman might be correct. Being a west coast guy, I have never seen the Grampion 26, but the keel and rudder of the mystery boat sure match.
What is on the counter to the left of the sink in the second head?
