Lol last winter the idea to tie something around tall grasses before trimming them randomly popped into my head and I'll never go back. It makes cleanup a breeze and the grass easy to handle. Just use a normal rope, tie a regular overhand knot around the grass, and have someone else pull one end while you pull the other. With 2 people tightening it you can really cinch down on the grass which makes cutting it easier. Also the dead grass works great for anything you'd use hay/straw for like drying up mud or covering grass seed.
3:43 is why I don't usually use that unit. The double safety switch + ramp up means every single time you shift your grip (which at least I do a lot depending on the shrub shape) the unit cuts off and you are having to wait 2.5 seconds for full speed, or you don't wait and get sub-par cut). That being said, the power and run time are amazing, and if there is some long, straight thing that doesn't need a lot of grip changing I use this puppy for sure. Great video, Blake!
I like the idea of tying the grasses up for easy cleanup!! Thanks for sharing that idea! I like my battery operated hedge trimmers. They are Craftmman’s
I use Stihl’s new HSA 94 T & the HLA 85 trimmers, they are awesome! Also the AP 300 S Lithium-Ion Battery last me two days worth of cutting and the AL 500 High-Speed Battery Charger can recharge it in 30 min. Thoroughly satisfied.
it's HIS turf I did try charging it using the onboard outlet that is in my truck but it wasn’t strong enough to power the charger. I just give it a charge it at home before i head out for the day if I plan on using it. Although it usually still has some charge left from the last time i used it.
I was out doing ornamental grasses yesterday and forgot my bungee cords to bunch them up for the cut... ugh lots of clean up for me..lol but for these large cuts I do prefer my echo gas powered for the power.
Cut closer to the tape and put the tape as tight as possible. This prevents grass movement allowing the hedger to cut the grass instead of the grass moving with the cutting blades.
I have the (58v) chainsaw. I really like it with the exception of the weight. We do mostly mowing but I would like to get the hedge trimmer for those quickie trims. Great vid!
Absolutely. I'm excited to fully put it to the test this year. I know they are releasing a new electric top handled saw this year. Cant wait to try it.
Great video Blake! I'm an Echo fan; but I didn't care for the hedge trimmers when I tried them. If you haven't already, try the Milwaukee hedge trimmers. They are my favorite by far! God Bless!!
Main drawback is the need for spare batteries and possibly the means to have them charged. They may also not be practical for people who live off-grid. Solar powered solutions may offer some relief for battery powered equipment.
I love electric but I'm stuck with cords. I wanted to try them and Milwaukee and husqvarna. No company with reach out to me to help me out. All say contact representatives and I have. Never heard back. So I pretty much just give up with trying. Also the gas fumes get to me sometimes if I'm at it for a while. Yea definitely zip tie the front or little tape
All these battery hedgers including the Milwaukee I own have a single cutting blade with a bipass lopper style dull blade on the other side. My basic Gas echo hc2020 has dual reciprocating blades. Ever since i went to gas hedge trimmers I'm getting cleaner cuts faster.
I've had a greenworks hedge trimmer for years. I bought the echo battery powered and for the price and performance, I wish I had just bought another greenworks. Don't see much of a difference outside the price.
@@itshisturf23 Consider it done brother. BE CAREFUL! Let your crew do the heavy work, and don't risk injuring it further. No troweling or screeding or raking for you!!!
Hey yt men I’m a mom if 2 and my husband is away in Louisiana. I want to trim my azeala bushes. They’re pretty high up now and patchy/sparse on the bottom Anyone got any advice how to tackle it?
Electric hundred percent better than gas unless all you're doing is hedge trimming 24/7 just the time I save not starting a 2-stroke equipment pays for itself over and over
i agree. The only way to justify a gas hedge trimmer is if I am running a commercial lawn care business and doing this 5 days a week. Everything and anything with hedges/bushes/etc at home I've been able to get done with electric/battery powered hedge trimmers just fine.
Hey brother I just want to say that I am a fellow brother in Christ and am newly getting into lawn care and came across your videos. Thank you for your videos and what you do man god bless you
I don’t know if I’ll ever be an electric guy but that’s a sweet unit but the real question is what kind of new headphones are you rocking see u in the am #PrayItUp
I did notice the comment about “not having to go and find gas” but there’s a Jerry can in the back of the truck haha. There’s no mains power however. So one seems more convenient than the other to me. Especially since you can just leave it in the back of the truck for the next time and not have to go charge it

I agree. Check out 5:02. Thank you sir. I hope your doing well
@@itshisturf23 Yeah, spot on! I'll leave the zip ties to someone else 😂
@@CopperCreekCuts I know right. Its annoying but I wont be using the zip tie method. With my luck it would literally end up biting me.

Very nice and thank you for the support. I think electric trimmers definitely come in handy

@@akaColt45 ok nice. I plan to put this one to the ultimate test this year.
Im pretty sold on going electric for the house now. Thanks for the great video!
STIHL AND ALL GAS POWER EQUIPMENT ALL DAY
I was out doing ornamental grasses yesterday and forgot my bungee cords to bunch them up for the cut... ugh lots of clean up for me..lol but for these large cuts I do prefer my echo gas powered for the power.
We have used tape in the past when we didn't have a strap. I think it the gas powered had been sharpened it would have been alot better
Cut closer to the tape and put the tape as tight as possible. This prevents grass movement allowing the hedger to cut the grass instead of the grass moving with the cutting blades.
Tapes a great idea instead of a strap.
ive so been waiting on a new instructional video so glad its here
Thank you. More coming soon.

A converted weedwhip is your best gas hedger?

I will ask kevin to bring his so I can do a side by side comparison.

I haven’t seen much solar equipment on the handheld side.
@@itshisturf23 maybe I wasn't clear enough but I meant AC power via solar generators to have them batteries charged.

Solid trimmer

Nice. I might look into electric this season. How's the wrist doing?
It's doing better. Pray for me. I have 40 or 50 yards of concrete to pour this week

I have ran some before. They were nice.
I prefer battery powered hedge trimmer. Less noise and lighter.
I have a stihl gas hedger and it's loud

I’d recommend trimming them back after they bloom. If you want to do major trimming do it in the fall.
Electric hundred percent better than gas unless all you're doing is hedge trimming 24/7 just the time I save not starting a 2-stroke equipment pays for itself over and over
Yeah I'd agree with that, after this season I may be adding an electric set to each truck.

Lol. Isotunes pro
They pick up alot of background noise but are great while working for hearing protection.
Will this toy ever replace my HS81R? NO NO NO!
The music is annoying, especially since I wanted to hear how must less noise these create relative to the gas powered tools.
10 cm of difference cutter
Only need one safety
I think the echo's are one of the worst electrics on the market. Husqvarna and milwaukee are the best imo.
Safety switch on front handle. No thanks
I'd rather use gas goes longer than battery. Tho I have a battery kobalt trimmer for doing small yards but heavy stuff has is perferd
For sure. It’s great for touch ups and for a supervisor to carry for small jobs.
it has LITERALLY been raining 4 weeks straight here
I know man. Absolutely insane. Same here.
Just need a V8 powered hedge trimmer.
Electric? It looked like a battery powered.
Battery produces electric energy!
I think the ussr.dont know how to use them gas or electric
Stihl>echo
Heck I’m back running Husqvarna. Neither have held up to our commercial abuse.
Batteries sucks... I use gas trimmer alot. Especially when you're on the go ..
For my crews absolutely but i have grown to like these in my truck for quality control and touch ups.

The one thing that you did not do what health n safety bruvva ear defenders eyewear gloves etc STAY SAFE MATE
Thank you
CUT THE FREAKING MUSIC, THIS ISNT MTV !!!!
Report video for cheap old misleading title, so pethetic
No need for an intro anymore
Those tools are garbage
Won’t have to look for gas like if you have gas run equipment you should have gas 🤡
