  • @midnighteightsix6919
    @midnighteightsix6919 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I do alot of track days at QR/Lakeside and these A052's are pretty much the stickiest 'street' tyres money can buy right now. They genuinely have the grip levels of a semi-slick/ R compound, the lack of turn in is due to the soft sidewall these have, but this also helps them be more comfortable.
    The only real downsides are the price and lifespan, they are bald after a 2-3 track days.

    To be fair to the ao52 they were designed specifically to take on the 200tw time attack battle in the states. The cup2 was designed to be on supercars ideally in factory developed star spec tyres. I am surprised the yoko has better road manners. But make no mistake its a thinly disguised race tyre. Cup2 is a supercar feel like a hero on a track tyre with heat in them.

    The biggest factor on DCT shifts is the DME tune. The shift torque reduction and punch settings in xHP are largely superficial, you can log the torque target that the TCU sends to the DME and those sliders have no effect at all. If you have fast logging with BM3 (needs to be 20Hz or greater) you can watch the engine timing to get an idea of what's happening, you should see the timing dip slightly for 1 scan then return perfectly to normal, any longer and there's a problem in the DME tune.

  • @MrTroytroy

    In terms of Long term data this is excellent and a real lesson of expenditure verse gain for everybody. A very rare insight into honest data driven outcomes that is too often not talked about by owners. Owners rarely want to admit lots of money spent for little to no gain or going backwards. Cost of HPFP pump, tune, AO52 tyres, intake and exhaust = for context - similar 0-100 as a bone stock 2015-2016 270kw Pre-facelift RS3 or one with a $450 Racechip box (sub 4.0secs)

I have a real problem with it in my E46 M3 even after changing out the bushings and the subframe reinforcement. 4.09 is very quick in my books especially real time testing and not the manufacturers or magazines etc. I'm going to look for what your best in the N54 cars has been now. Your xhp torque reduction settings is wrong. Should be about 1/3rd of your reported torque value. If you max it out, you weaken the torque. I have got an F80 with the DCT, my torque reduction is set to 450nm, torque punch is at 4 and my 0-60 is 3.5 seconds.

    What's different between M dct and non-M dct? I though they were the same hardware, maybe with a different final drive. If its too many maybe make a video?

    • @mike_oe
      @mike_oe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not 100% sure, but I believe that the M-DCT has an additional/separate TCU, whereas the normal DCT is running off the ECU. You are not able to load an M shift algorithm on the latter...

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's purely in the software on the TCU. Well i say that, there may be other changes like gear rations. But essentially the same hardware between this box and the one in my n54. The DCT was only available in M models in the f series, which does throw some people off. The main difference with the software on e series was the different shift modes, non m cars have sport or normal, where m cars have 5 or 6 different levels of shift aggression. The m cars also have a variable RPM launch (by using the cruise control stalk). You can actually install M3 shifter, M3 Dsc button and few other bits and flash a N54 with M3 DCT software to get the variable launch rpm on the stalk.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube

      Not sure, its never been on a dyno. Dynos are so hit and miss here and by that its a pointless measurement. Its does low 8 second/high 7 second 100-200 dragy depending on DA. Which is similar to swap depot in their e90 with 565whp. However i'd say this is closer to 420-450whp on an aussie dyno. That being said this hits hard down low, it feels very very torquey.
