Great to see a replacement to the old AD08R and appreciate the thorough test on a powerful road car. Good to see these are available in 17” wheels. So many performance tyres seem to stop at 18” so expect these to be a popular choice!

I always wondered if BMW put the B57 6pot diesel into a 1 & 2 series, how fast would it have been ? Imagine a 135d or 235d with 308hp and 50mpg plus. And another 60hp if Darkside also tunned it.

The AD09’s ran roughly the same lap times as my nearly done AR-1’s on a track where under 2:00 is OK, versus about 5-6 seconds faster on Pirelli DH Slicks.
And what made the AD08RS not a good tyre in your opinion? Reason of asking: was looking for the AD09, but not available in my required size, if at all, here in EU and the AD08RS (S because of specced up to EU certification) is an option, and if I read reviews, it's good, but I'd rather hear info from people who didn't like the tyre, ofter better arguments then a minor list of cons you see in reviews. the AD08RS were so bad that I complained with Yokohama which advertised them as track day tires. They were slower than my old PS4 on my car on track. Not a scientific test for sure but still. I have never driven on the AD08R but I have heard good things about them. Unfortunately in Europe given all these green regulations it's getting harder and harder to find a 17 inch track tire. The AD09 would be my N1 choice but Yokohama Europe is not importing many size available in Japan. They don't even bother to reply to e mail asking if they will ever import them. I would need 215/45 17 and 245/40 17. I will try out the Nankang AR1 next since the A052 are crazy expensive for how long (should I say short) they last. There are no other semi-slick aside for the TOYO R888R in these sizes. Yokohama said they were planning to expand their business operation in Europe. Weird way to do it. Nice test you guys did, the AD09 seems a superb product just marketed and sold in a terrible way
I guess it all depends on what s your reference. If it's your first UHP tire you might still find them more than acceptable but there is no point in buying them over any modern UHP tire of any brand really, I m sure they are the worse, a now very old design with ecological rubber formula only to match the requirement of the european legislation. For sure they were worse than my PS4 and PS5 which are not the tire I d like to use since they are not extremely sporty but my car has a 245/40-17 tire at the rear which is very hard to find (no 4s available in that size nor cup 2 nor any other very sporty tire aside from the potenza sport now which are very good on the road but disintegrate on track after a few laps). For more sporty performance and some track day usability I had to move to a semi slick tire which I have now used for 3000km (Nankang AR1). I still have the Goodyear F1 left to try since they have the measurement for my car but having tried a semi slick it's gonna be hard to go back. The AD09 would be my ideal rubber but it's not available in Europe on my car s tire size which is a shame since on their website they claimed they wanna develop their business in europe@@ayanami5610 I'd buy the AD009 in a heartbeat if they were available but long story short buy anything UHP but the AD08RS
