Great review. Looks like a reasonable car. Any insight on how many will be available for sale in Australia? That horrible sound that they put into them defies logic to me. Just pointelss - it's an EV, turn the stereo up if you want noise. A couple of things though that are a bit confusing - you say (at 18:13) that at home charging would take 44 hours which seems unlikely unless you are talking about a standard power point. If you are going to spend $125k for a new car then a $1000 32A home charger would be much more likely. I also note that the charger infrastructure issue just highlights a massive advantage that the Model Y would have over the BMW - having access to all of the charge locations. Did I see correctly that the car is always listening for voice activation like the BMW equivalent of "Hey Google"? If so, that's a hard no from me - voice controls are great to have but with a button on the wheel to activate listening mode only when you want it. I can see this appealing to BMW owners and it would seem to be a good option for most people who aren't going on long trips just now. The killer will be just how many are actually available for delivery. Lastly, you are spot on with the fact that most of the EVs are being built in China right now and choices outside of that are limited. Even from Tesla you'd have to go for an X or S to get a US made car. Another option is to wait for a Rivian sometime in the distant future. This is a real problem for the legacy manufacturers in some respects as it is showing to the public that China can produce a quality product if need be - and so they may be much more open to the new entrants from China with similar quality but without the legacy price penalty. I expect that we will see a lot more Chinese cars on the market here soon.
And yes, the 44 hours is the slowest possible from a standard 240V 10A outlet. Later I mention the 22kW BMW offering, which will comfortably recharge the car overnight - to your preferred limit, at your preferred time. Presumably for most people this would be off-peak using renewable energy, or home solar/battery for those lucky enough to have these. I know you know all this, but just clarifying.
Welcome back Mark! Great review from both (as usual). EV is definitely the future - just a matter of when is the right choice for the main car (as always, that is down to range).
Nice review, these cars are so much fun I've had mine for a couple of months now and love it ,picked up a 12 month old 1 and that took £20,000 off list price and had only done 600 miles
Love that you guys drive it like you should drive a Bmw. Been trstdrivung this car myself and got a pretty similar impression as you guys did. Im getting my own ix3 this month so im pretty excited!
Great review. I really like the down to earth style so please never change that. This is my first EV and two months in I came back to your review to see what you said about range given that I have got anywhere between 240 -350kms on an 85% charge. The guess-o-meter, as I hear it called, is vague at best if not unreliable as there appears to be so many factors that go into the calculation that it seems unpredictable. Mostly on an 85% charge (as advised by my local dealership) I can end a 30km trip it’s more range than when I started. Do you have any advice, other than ignoring the range and charging only when absolutely needed, like a an ICE car? Unfortunately my particular dealership (not Worthington BMW) is less than helpful with such information. The only thing generating any range anxiety is the guess-o-meter. Other than this aspect the car is excellent.
Thanks for the compliments. We only had the iX3 for a day so aren't well placed to comment on those range anomalies. But in all the other EVs we've driven I have certainly noticed large variations in range based on driving style (as you'd expect), but also with speed, temp and terrain. Not sure about charging "only when absolutely needed". Lots of EV owners charge and discharge often, finding it's good to exercise their batteries in the whole 20% to 80% range. Use often and charge often - some say. With new battery formulations though, many manufacturers are happy to see Li-Fe-Phospate batteries charged to 100% with no ill effects. I'm no expert on this, and I don't know what type of batteries BMW use. Maybe ask another dealership or BMW head office?
Great video, having worked in the fossil fuel power industry for forty years an EV was the last thing I thought I would have purchased, but I have recently ordered a Tesla MY, the writing is on the wall.
The Jaguar iPace is made in Austria - any chance you can test one and see if the new EV SUVs are that much better than the Jag which was released a few years ago?
I have had my M sport Pro since Dec 2022 and like this car, but hate the fact there is no AWD! and reduce range due mainly to heating in winter periods
@@stormdancer1910 if you read what I said you may realise I will ALSO keep the M2, there’s obviously no comparison as they’re cars for different markets. Both have their strengths
Great review.

I don't know numbers Mark, but I heard they have customers waiting and can sell any one they can get their hands on from BMW Australia.

Thanks Gavin, fun to be back on the road with Stu. Glad you enjoyed the review

Great review. Bmw Ix3 is cheaper now. Go go go ix3.

Great review. Thanks

I'd love to review an iPace, especially as it's been around for a while. I'll try.

Is this carbon black, or grey colour?
Carbon Black
The future looks good with commuter cars like this, I think I’ll also keep my M2 though. F*** off Stu🤣🤣🤣
Now we're seeing the real Mark, aren't we! I suspect F-off Stu is the new catch-cry he will probably work into each future review
Yes EV SUV or M2 Comp, easy decision!
Well a M2 does't compete with a electric midsize SUV... It's like i would say "A 520d sounds like shit, i'll keep my E60 M5"

i think i want to by one now great job how much does it cost .
