German “Monkey Grip” Reload Technique for the G36 🇩🇪

- Monkey see, monkey do.
This is not an emergency reload tactic. The intent is to retain the (partially) empty mag, so this would only be done when there is an opportunity to do so.
Shoutout to my buddy @bush_wallah who gave me the run down on this reload. He was in the Swiss military and trained with Germans 2013-15. He now has a company in the USA. Check it out @frontierarmoryllc

"Zack Bumm" is a German phrase often used to describe something that happens suddenly or unexpectedly. It's comparable to the English expression "just like that" or "out of the blue". It can also be used to describe a sudden, loud noise, similar to "bang" in English. It's important to note that the exact meaning of "Zack Bumm" can depend on the context in which it's used.

Gotta love German engineering. Simple and intuitive with enough finesse built in to let experts shine.
German products are superior when everything works fine, but try to fix it when something goes wrong. I prefer our Czech way of engineering, we just take a German thing and remove everything which is not needed and simplify that generally. :-D
I would say there are only like 4 or 5 engineering schools where you can really see how different those products are - German, American, Russian, Czech and maybe Japanese. Rest of countries just use some general engineering or mixing everything together. In some specific segments of market (like cars) you could also include Italian school.
And no, Swiss technology is not it's own school, it belongs to the German school.
When you look for example at airguns, you can clearly recognize a Czech, German and American construction, all other manufacturers are the same chinese crap, it's some universal worldwide construction, they just take it and copy it without any try to design their own thing or at least modify that and it's like that with many other products.
As a ex German soldier I can tell you 1. This is exactly how we did it in training 2. Our magazines even had a mechanism at each side so you could attach extra mags on those sides without hindering the reloading. So you could have one mag in the weapon and two (or even more) attached on the sides of the mag.
Since you have first hand experience, how durable are the g36 polymer mags when new and after being exposed to elements? Same question about the jointing tabs on the side.. Also whats the current record for mags connected to each other since that goes with out saying many people have tried that?
@@Hellsong89 U need to understand the polymer is very capable, also the g36 is overall a rly good rifle. The media point here is, i guess u saw the "news" about the g36 some years ago. The point here is, the g36 was introduce as a rifle for the comba in europe and his climate zone. it wasnt predestined for afghanistan or generally in hot zones. still adapted very good in the hot zones. Lot of people preferred the G3 for deployment but not everyone got an hand on it. For the mag question, in my time 3 was max for maximum value one left side and on right side attached. i saw at a shooting range people shoot with 8 mags attached but idk if this is the record for that.
I remember when we had a firing exercise, we were the last group and people wanted to get rid of the remaining ammo, every one of our group had 9 magazines, and obviously we all had them bundled, looked hilarious, just the officers weren't happy, how we emptied those.
i connected 21 mags together, it was a total chode

I personally do the L or the tilt grip when doing retention reloads. It won’t work on the G36, but on the AR and B&T it works well.

@@uncomfortableshirt Nope, and besides, you don’t have to be in a battlefield to find your preferred reload. Besides, if you don’t do this reload right, it won’t work on the AR. That’s why I like the L reload when doing retention reloads.

Back in my service time the term "Affengriff" (monkey-grip) was used for a technique to unload the G36. Magazine out, thumb over the ejection port and rest of your fingers under the Magazine well. Pull the charging handle and you have the chambered round in your hand and not somewhere on the ground. Saves a lot of trouble.
Used with the HK416 in the Norwegian army as well, except with the added touch of the middle finger reaching for the bolt hold open button and keeping that depressed while pulling the charging handle with the opposite hand. We haven't really given that technique a name but monkey grip fits the bill nicely.
@@Ruben1994OL Ah... yes. I forgot that bit. In my defense it's been already 17 years since then.

Here is how i do it:
1. Grab fresh mag with just your index and thumb
2. Hit the mag release with the middlefinger of your shooting hand and let the mag fall into the three fingers of your reloading hand.
3. insert fresh mag and store old one
may work with airsoft. probably not on a real one
@@Robomann Works pretty well on a real one, bc thats how i do it

@@vendettaslice8378 Yeah. It barely worked when i started doing it.
I did it with real guns and airsoft guns (gbb mags have about the same weight as fully loaded real ones.)
Also you need a somewhat long middlefinger or you have to ajust your shooting hand a bit weirdly to reach the mag release.
I found myself doing this instead of the techniqe shown in the video bc my fingers just were not long enough to hold the two mags safely in my hand and i ended up dropping a lot of mags on the ground. (The mags issued also got this nubs to clip them together which makes the monkey-grib technique even harder)

Yeah it looks like common sense
The classic method would just to do it in two steps, one mag after another.
What do you do when you hit peak firearm?
You make it more user-friendly.
The "Monkey-Grip" is something different, guys.
The Monkey-Grip is a technique to disassemble the HK P8 pistol. What you are demonstrating is a variation of the "Dschungle-Style" reload, but it would not work with actual G-36 Mags due to the notches the mags have at their sides in order to be clipped together.
In addition, this is a G36C, the shorter version of what is actually used by the majority of German forces. The G36C is used only by a few special forces units.

Hi, I didn't know we call it Monkey Grip.., but you will want do have the new mag only half in your hand. so when you pull out the empty magazin your new magazin is higher. By this it is easier to insert the new mag.
(hope it is clear what you mean, can't post a pic here ;-))
Its much better to make the Affengriff by holding the new magazine on the bottom part so you dont have to slide the old one all the way down but simply just take it out
I personally prefer the 90°-Reload as its faster and slides directly into your muscle memory
Love the awesome content please don't ever change ! greetings from Germany
Why didn't you use the connectable magazines, that are standard for the G36 in german military? With these, you can reload even faster.
10/10 Heckler und Koch pronunciation. It's always funny when people call it Heckler and Coke lol
100% that mag release is accidentally getting knocked. Oh oops, where’s my mag? 😂 and are those mags gonna fit in ya kydex inserts?
It's kind of scary that I've watched this a few times already and I'm still not sure whether I'm seeing real-life footage or highly detailed CGI
What's German army doing with this type of gun.....!!!!!!!
Making blackforest cakes .... 😂😂😂😂😂
They are no where into combat roles in the world
my flashbacks from MW3 makes me realize it was accurate I never knew why that was the only gun that reloaded like that
That’s not a “monkey grip”… I literally did this in combat operations between OEF/OIF ‘01-‘08 and was teaching my Marines to do it between ‘04-‘07. And you do NOT send the bolt home AFTER putting your mag away. You mag change then send bolt home while continuing to aim with one arm and using non dominant to secure the empty mag in a dump pouch or upright in chest/leg pouch. This way you’re at the ready with least amount of time exposed with more efficient/effective rate of fire and movement or to cover/concealment. Honestly, It’s an elementary level tactic… monkey grip… I called it “double fisting”🙄😂
