idk why but i love the no bumper look, i’m taking mine off within the next week and gonna roll like that for a while until I buy a cbi bumper
A bumper on marketplace or craigslist can be had for MUCH less than what R4T wants. I found on that had broken clips around the valance that nobody else wanted but it was perfect for a project like this. Paid less than $150 for it. Perfect paint match too since it’s an OEM bumper. Simply cut away all the trashed out parts and pocket the savings.
Not gonna lie I miss the old days when you were just starting to build up the taco 😂 learned a lot from you 👍🏻

hey buddy, awesome videos! Question for you, I have the same broken piece on my fender, where did you find the new piece to complete this install. I have just received my front bumper caps too and literally my same passenger side plastic piece is broken---that piece you say you have glued with double sided tape. Any guidance on where I can get that, struggling to find it.

How has it held up man? Im going to instal a bumper soon, but worried about the sturdiness without the clips, especially when hitting a trail.

How long did it take you from start to finish including install of new bumper?
Does the grill grab on to anything on the bottom part? Or only on the bumper caps and the top?

I really like the front bumper caps so as to not have to cut your bumper. I just ordered a 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro. I have OCD and like you said, the color didn't match, which would bother me. How much extra was it to have them paint it? Great install video, thanks Jesse.
$350 for "color match"...going to cut mine, don't see a point in keeping the stock one around.

U can buy them for $100 and go to ur own painter guy see what they charge or u can wrap it so technically the part is $100 which is not expensive at all and gives u piece of mind
So there’s two options u can get them unpainted for about 100 and either get them wrapped or take it to ur painter guy
If u get them paint matched with them it’s a extra 250 so u can go with either option for me I got them painted because the stress of having to take them to someone to paint them then to wait to get them back and hoping it was decent I didn’t want that so I just got it done with r4t

Question, What supports the bottom of the grill now that those tabs are no longer there from the factory bumper? I hit a deer and I am thinking of going with a cbi bumper but I need to know if I need to buy a new bumper cover just so I can get the lower tabs or if the grill is stable enough without that lower connection using the R4T bumper caps...
I also have the same question, did you end up going with the cbi?
Hey Jesse, when using the bumper caps did you find the grill was flimsy? I see that when people just cut the bumper, they retain the bottom part that the grille clips into. Just curious on your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

I prefer the “viper cut” looks better, was almost FREE and way easier.

I agree. Nothing against people who feel more comfortable ordering this, but if you have access to some basic tools it will save you money by just cutting it. I thought this looked pretty time consuming and a lot of disassembly. Just cut it!
Which rear bumper do you have? Do you like it? I need to relocate my spare, since the 33s don’t fit in the stock location without cutting the exhaust!

I'm 70 Live in the mountains use my 21 1794 Tundra to get groceries and wood It would never go where we hunt or camp and nothing we have is weekend wannabe warrior stuff The camp I built 24 years ago sets up in minutes sleeps 4 and we live in total comfort it's called the Hilton our quads have winches front and back and built also to go anywhere not for the faint of heart I have 100 subs you have 34K not many real men left on this planet.

It’s way easier than you think. And looks better than this. Watch the videos, use the truck lines with tape, hole saw and a multipurpose tool.

As of today, those clowns are charging 150 dollars for a few ounces of ABS plastic. Come on now… that’s so bad. I feel bad for anyone that buys those right now.

Why is it a joke? A small company actually decided to do R&D and make these for Tacoma owners. Sure, you can cut up your bumper for free, but you can also save the bumper for the future, or sell it to make some profit or break even from buying the caps? $350 for this cap plus it's color matched, at least for me it will be well worth it. To each their own, though.
Its pretty worth it. Either you pay the 350 for painted or 110 for unpainted or risk messing up your bumper.
I feel like you can just sell the oem bumper and make your money back
350 is to much... R&D is next to nothing, its an exact replica of the original just a small section in a standard not special material. What justifies the insane value? I can't image the low volume interest would justify it. If it was carbon fiber 350 seems in line. Why can seibon make a CF hood for 1300 or tacos lifestyle make a CF mirror caps for 170 but these in plain ABS for 350? Greed!
U can get them in no color for $100 and take it to a wrap shop or paint shop of ur choice so if u want to go that route you can
