  • In this video I go through a revised version of the installation for the Body Armor Hi-Line bumper on my 3rd gen Tacoma TRD Pro. I watched the company's video and read the instructions but I thought several of the steps were not needed. So I skipped them and probably saved 30-40 minutes doing it my way. The installation came out great. The bumper looks nice on the truck.

    Great video and thanks for all the info!
    I just ordered the body armor bumper today. I was curious about the winch and how you like it. Any issues? Have you used it much?
    I may go direct wired instead of remote. I heard with the remotes there are only so many frequencies they function on and it is possible someone else’s remote could control your/my winch.
    Body armor says the Warn zeon fits in the space but those cost close to $2000!

      I went with the Smitty built x2o. Just like the bumper it provided good value with it's price and quality. I've only had to use it once, but I would've been screwed without it. I used the winch in my red cone pass video. I didn't get good footage because I was concentrating on getting unstuck.

      @@infinitemods540 Perfect answer! I am getting all this stuff hoping I won't need it, but good to know it is there if I need it. There are places I plan to go that if you need a commercial rescue it is $1000 bucks. I would rather know I have the equipment to take care of myself.
      Thanks for the response.

      I think, at least in my case, that a winch is just as(or more) valuable than a front locker. I know I chose the winch over the locker because I thought it would be of more use to me in the way I would use it. Lockers wouldn't have helped me much when I got beached on a huge boulder but the winch got me right out. I probably wouldn't have needed the winch if I drove better!

    Did you notice the front of the truck drop? And did you notice the weight while driving?

    • @infinitemods540
      @infinitemods540  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't really notice any difference with just the bumper and winch. But I added more weight and upgraded front strut springs soon after.

    I was just wondering how do you access the lever for getting the winch to freewheel?

    • @infinitemods540
      @infinitemods540  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You have to pop the hood and reach down to the lever, there's plenty of space for even the biggest of ape arms.

    Where is your skid plate? Does the skid plate need to be removed to install the bumper?

    • @DFilthySmurf
      @DFilthySmurf 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Its my understanding the front just needs to drop down a bit. But the way he did the install, it may have bypassed the need for that as well. The BA Bumper is the only one on the market that works with the stock skid plate and TRD skid plate.

    • @infinitemods540
      @infinitemods540  ปีที่แล้ว

      I got it on Amazon, I can't remember the brand ( 'king' something). It was like $40, which was cheaper than the $120 the body armor light cost.
