The back and forth is amazing. Clark goes in on Bruce. Bruce fires right back. Instead of another cutting response, Clark looks like he's seriously considering what Bruce just said. Like "This is a point of view I hadn't thought of. I need to go to the fortress of solitude and mull this over for a week". Love the contrast between these two.
It would have been better if Bruce was just straight forward laid it to him "I lost a lot of good people, employees, and friends the day that alien decided to use metropolis as his boxing ring" and it would have destroyed Clark. Because he would understand all those off-screen deaths that are a direct result of his actions (Especially since he accidentally led Zod to earth).
I like how Bruce goes from acting like he has no clue what the Daily Planet is, to criticising their support of Superman, as soon as the conversation becomes about whether Batman is above the law
Same, I like how you could see in his eyes that he boils over internally at the idea of Clark talking about the Batman like he's some criminal. As in Bruce's eyes, he's seen and experienced the worst of the criminal underworld countless times and has been hardened by it all. Superman can destroy half a city and cause the deaths of thousands just to take down one man, but Batman beats up some thugs in the night and he's treated like some kind of villain. He pokes holes in Clark's idealism and reveals his hypocrisy with just a few sentences.

Mustangblue08 Don’t forget that Batman and Bruce are different people. And Batman himself considers himself to be Batman and Bruce Wayne is his secret identity/mask. He is always Batman unless he has to put on a show and act like Bruce Wayne, the playboy billionaire. The whole time he was talking to Clark, he was supposed to act like Bruce Wayne, but you could hear and feel all of the Batman pouring out during the whole conversation he had with Clark once he mentioned Superman. And I love how you can tell he’s trying to hold back the Batman side in him during that conversation and retain mostly the Bruce Wayne side. It was all about to come out once the “freaks dressed like clowns” line came in, but Lex simply being there saved it and he went back to his Bruce Wayne side. Not completely though. His words started getting more towards Bruce Wayne, but his demeanor stays Batman. That’s how you know Batman feels strongly about how much he doesn’t want Superman around. Ben Affleck plays this role so well especially since how he plays him is more accurately how Batman is in the comics even with the older more experienced Batman they were going for. That’s why Ben Affleck was my favorite actor to play Batman, but I have a feeling that’ll change next year when Robert Pattinson dons the cowl because he seems like he’s going to share a lot of the qualities Affleck did when playing Batman, but amplify that 100x.
mahi zen Not really. Affleck’s Batman was more comic accurate than other live action portrays. Bale’s Batman was actually one of the most different. Ben Affleck’s was different compared to the others because he was the most like Batman when it comes to live action actors. Bale’s Batman had mediocre fighting for someone who trained with the League of Assassins and knows 127 different forms of martial arts, and for the “World’s Greatest Detective” he definitely had a lot of that work done for him by Fox. Ben Affleck’s Batman does great with fighting, and though not amazing detective work, it’s still the best that has been shown in live action. The way he plays Bruce, older Bruce remember that, is also more accurate to how Batman really is. Different doesn’t mean better.
I have to say Affleck nailed this entire scene. A man amongst boys. The range of emotions he needs to deliver in this entire scene alone proves how talented he is. He goes from deceiving to confrontational to being deceived effortlessly.
Batfleck and Cavill were just wasted potential. They could’ve been some of the best cinematic versions of their characters due to their appearances and solid acting skills. If only they didn’t star in movies that ranged from mediocre to just downright shitty (lookin at you, justice league)

I think that was probably a reference to The Daily Planet's competitor, The Daily Star. Like, "Do I own this newspaper company, or do I own the other guy?"
Ben Affleck already has that Batman smirk instill within him. Like at 1:56 or the subtle smirk at 2:27. He’s the perfect guy to play Bruce Wayne/Batman. Not only in looks, but persona wise as well. A shame we never got any standalone Batfleck.
@@jerrylewis788 I don't think he realized it. It was just him getting pissy over the Daily Planet, a paper that simps for Superman, criticizing his city and Batman. Some Asshole he trying to keep his cover so he puts on his “Bruce Wayne the playboy” persona. Sees Diana, doesn’t want Clark or others to think there’s something shifty about the situation. So acts like her being a distraction of his focus was simply Bruce Wayne checking out the beautiful woman. It’s like how Christian bales Bruce always had a girl on his arm in the Nolan trilogy

He really looks like he can't stand being in the crowd or with people, he learned a couple of phrases to use when interacting and also he looks like he was practiced his smile in the mirror. Just that change in his face on 0:53 is perfect example . I really got a sense that his Bruce Wayne really trying to hold it together as much as he can.

My favorite part about this is that everyone in this scene knows who each other are except each other. Bruce knows who Clark is but doesn’t k ow that Clark knows he’s Batman. Clark knows he’s Batman but doesn’t know he knows and Lex knows who each of them are without knowing that they know he’s the bad guy. It’s great Another note is his attitude towards Lex. Bruce knows who Clark is and he can barely stand to talk to him. He also knows that Lex is a criminal and can easily shake his hand and smile at him. Shows how much Bruce truly hates superman at this time.

Don’t forget that Batman and Bruce are different people.
Homeboy_Brando Bale was the perfect batman affleck played batman well but this batman was way different then others
mahi zen
Not really.

I hate when people say Ben Affleck was fat during this movie. You can tell by the cut of his suit that he was pretty well put together during the filming of BvS. Plus he is the most comic accurate depiction of Bruce Wayne (minus the killing) ever.
Clusteronandon give up the killing bullshit talk.
im glad he killed people
Eliot O'Boyce and yet every movie disrespected that rule
Getting ripped isnt practical as Batman. Getting fit and building strength is more important, and I would say Batman was just about done right. Defining fine curves and having mirror friendly finish, is sports of Bodybuilding.
Alpha Critic BWAHAHAHAHA REALLY HAHAHAHA
I don't know why but Affleck's batman and Ledger's joker make more sense as an adaptation from comic book. They both could have done a much better job if they were to be in a solo superhero movie. Perfect hero and a perfect antagonist!
no, keep the batfleck and we now have joaquin phoenix as the joker. that would be perfect
Jared Leto's Joker is a soundcloud rapper it would make no sense for him to have a solo film with Ben Affleck, Batman and Joker have always had a deep relationship and I somehow don't see Batfleck having a deep relationship with DAMAGED TATTOO NIGHTCLUB OWNER.
This Ben Affleck as Batman was so badass.
Hopefully Rob can keep it alive.
@Mark Steven
We need the Snyder cut of Justice League first.
Frankly, I pity Christian for all the laryngitis he must have gotten. There's a reason Kevin Conroy changed his way of differentiating Batman and Bruce as the DCAU rolled on.
christian bale is only batman
Mark Steven how tf was it cringe
Mark Steven cringe? Batfleck was terrifying
"I like those shoes" top tier Batman dialogue I love it. Getting caught sneaking and trying to play it off.
The “I like those shoes” scene might be my favourite Batfleck scene, and the scene that sold me on Ben as Batman. He does the playboy facade and drops it for his true mission focused persona expertly. Such a shame we didn’t get a solo Batfleck movie...
When he says, “...in support of books.” Classic! 😂

Affleck’s vocal acting in this movie is incredible.
It’s Arthur fleck reference

cutting ultimate edition from the theater release is a very big mistake. I'd rather watch 3 hours of intense conflict with some flaws rather than 2.5 hours of choppy, weird, an flawed movie full of underexplained plotlines.

3:30 I never knew why Clark turns his head here, but then I remembered he has super hearing and could hear Alfred the entire time.
Yeah baby
I was wondering about that
How did you miss that lmfao? were you paying attention when you watched the movie at all?
@@JamesSZN01 like 99% of casual viewers upon seeing it for the first time, I thought nothing of it as the movie as a whole wasn't great and wasn't capturing my attention as well as other movies. @@JamesSZN01 infact, the second reply to my comment was someone saying "I was wondering about that" meaning someone who is aligned with me replied before you even said anything. Starting to look more sad buddy
Previous portrayals of Bruce Wayne I have looked at and just scene actors playing a role, but something about Affleck really stands out to me. The way he talks with Cavil, I really feel like I am watching Bruce Wayne talk to Clark Kent and I absolutely love that!
"I like those shoes"
Real smoothe there Mr. Wayne.
Her shoes were nice tho 🤷🏿♂️

As a writer, I'll tell you right now... I completely agree.
As a fan of writers, I’ll tell you that you’re completely right.
You must be a shit writer.
@@AvocadoBawlz-Johnson You ain't lying. This dialogue exchange is poor, but it's not the most awkward conversation I've heard. Regardless, this movie portrays both characters poorly. Clark is a child in an adult's body. Batman is gruff and miserable as BRUCE WAYNE. He's meant to contrast his alter ego, not nearly mirror it. Plus he seems to entertain the notion of using lethal force on someone who made it clear they're not out for blood. If Snyder wrote this, then call me blown away... The hype was fake as all can be.
@@galvinbrown2144 whatever you've said, we've already seen it before in previous movies. So repeating it wont be unique. In this movie, batman's been fighting criminals for 20 years. You cant expect him to stay bright and shiny and happy even when he's not batman. Watching and fighting against the worst kind of people the world has to offer will affect your mentality deeply. And I understand that that kind of a batman wouldn't let someone like Superman just roam around freely. He did save lives but also lose some. And the world doesn't actually know what kind of a person Superman is. For all they know, he could be an oversensitive person who'd start to rage and kill thousands even when something minor goes wrong. And in a way thats correct, like when Louis dies, Superman turns evil

It's 2022 and I still come back and watch this scene. I love how Bruce is playing dumb at first pretending he has no idea who Clark is or the Daily Planet, but then pulls a complete 180 and lets Clark know that he actually reads his articles regarding Superman.
2024, same.
The best depiction of Bruce Wayne
Cavill did a really good job at the whole “mild mannered” Clark Kent here, Affleck’s Batman is just so good you don’t even notice it- which is exactly a Clark Kent move

I dissagree
He acts like he is the ridler

This whole time, he thinks Superman is an alien who just does good deeds but the humanization of him having a mom and a girl who loves him iswhat changes his mind, and realizing he was manipulated by lex Luther because in his mind, he thought he was killing a ticking time bomb, and he’s more aggressive than ever and the whole movie shadows this (Batman killls and brands people, Alfred is disappointed in him) so he flips bc he realizes “I am not the good guy in this situation. "My foundation has already issue a statement in support of uhh- books" That line right there and how Ben delivered it is just one reason why he's the perfect Batman/Bruce Wayne. I think this was the moment Batfleck absolutely won hands down playing the Dark Knight. Those few seconds in which he changes from his lecherous jock act to the barely contained rage that drives the Batman, that thing he does with his eyes was chilling. That second you know it's the Batman looking up. This is the Batman we know and love. I can't watch this scene enough. This and the moment he and Alfred have when he tells him he's going to steal the piece of Kryptonian rock from Luthor to destroy Supes. "Twenty years in Gotham, Alfred. We both know what promises are worth." God, did I regret all the Batfleck hate I've been harbouring for years when he delivered that line. (Still won't forgive him Daredevil). I can't wait for the standalone film. Batman is so much more fun to watch and read when he's soloing it and not having demi-gods crowding the scene.
Ben Afleck is still an ethically disingenuous Hollywood leftist douchebag Muslim apologist, but he did perform well in the role for this movie.
....LMAO where do you right wing fucks come from?? shuuuuuutup!

The Batman I know and love is smart, cunning, compassionate, and relatable. This is not that kind of Batman. That kind of Batman was in The Dark Knight trilogy.
Bharathy Singaravel agree.
Batman is my fave hero of all time. Loved this scene too with that subtle shift in Bruce's features from a playboy to the fearsome creature of the night. Clark knew at the moment too- its why he asked those questions to confirm cuz he was listening on Bruce & Alfred's secret dialogue.
