1:55 when Bruce puts his head down. that goes to show that Alfred is right, when he says "there was nothing here for you pain and tragedy" him losing his parents..him losing the girl he loved..having the people he just kept trying to save hate him..yet he still believes that there is good in everybody after literally everybody and everything he's been through has shown him the opposite.
I loved Alfred as a character. Alfred is more than Bruce's butler. He's Bruce's best friend, almost like a father figure to him. He clearly loves Bruce dearly, almost as a son. He's there for Bruce during his darkest hours, and he stands by Bruce through his most insane plans. He supports Bruce in his operations but also supports him emotionally and more than anything, he wants Bruce to be happy. To help him move past the pain of his loss. Goddamn it, you really have to love Alfred and his wisdom.
Nothing will ever touch this Batman and Alfred or this trilogy. Guardians and iron man were phenomenal movies and casting for marvel. And man of steel was the only Superman movie I ever truly loved. But in terms of a dark superhero trilogy, Nolan Bale and caine absolutely dominate
This is such a beautifully tragic scene. You can see Bruce’s despair. You can sense his continued sadness for losing Rachel, but also the sadness in knowing Alfred is right. He knows Alfred is right, that he never moved on, and that by coming back to Gotham when he did, he entered that world of pain again. The fatherly desperation in Alfred to get Bruce to leave the past is immense and beautiful. You can see him in pain, watching Bruce slowly lose himself to sadness and despair. He expresses that in such a great fatherly way. Perhaps my favorite part is when he tells Bruce that he never wanted him to come back, because of how much pain is linked to Gotham for him. It’s a dead end for Bruce, a point in his life that was defined by tragedy. He always wanted more for him, for both his parents sake and his own. They have a father son relationship by circumstance, and watching him come back to that of course hurt him immensely. I love this scene also for my personal relation to it. Not gonna go too much into it, but I have a similar experience with my home. I’ve had my dad say the same thing to me, and man it carries the same weight that it does here. It hurts to hear, but it’s the truth. Overall, beautiful scene.
Michael Caine said in an interview for the Dark Knight Rises that his role as Alfred was meant to represent us - the audience. His ability to be the voice of reason in an unreasonable world is such a memorable quality of his character.
He saw him sitting across the table...when Alfred looked up and nodded...then saw Bruce in all of his happiness...the greatest scene OF ALL TIME...#BELIEVETHAT
“I never wanted you to come back to Gotham, there’s nothing here for you except pain and tragedy” perfection in describing Bruce especially after he had been gone for so long, couldn’t have included the line and delivered it any better
That friggin voice crack when he says it's your father's name....and it's all that's left of him. From the first movie is also another stellar scene where Alfred just cuts right to the heart of everything
Alfred sees Bruce drowning in his own sadness and it’s breaking his heart. No parent/ parental figure wants that for their kids. Alfred just wants Bruce to be happy. But as long as Batman exists, that will be nearly impossible.
Batman is the symbol of endurance and hope. The man behind the mask is more then just a mask that we all strive to be like him.He is a man who has lost so much, his parents, his love of his life ,his heart broken and literally his body broken in half. His own city that he loves turns against him. And through all this tribulation he finds it in himself to persevere over the darkness and escape it.And literally escape it. The Dark Knight is one of my second favorite of the three. In this scene we see him still closed off from the outside world because his spirit has been broken and is in depression, but slowly starts to come out of it when Alfred informs him on the events. And like his father’s quote “why do we fall ?” “So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.”” Gets back up from despair and fight and fight which is life itself in the real world that we live in. I only wish I had someone like Alfed to be there for me. True lone wolfs out there who have absolute no companionship stay strong and continue to endure.✌️
oy vey. Well you know what? If i want to have nice things in life and not worry about bills 247, then I guess i'm evil. you're saying Bill Gates is evil?
This hit home for me several years ago. It's interesting watching one of my favorite idols and super heros go through difficult times and live through depression. I was 17 when this came out and I was feeling pretty bad, but I felt like this movie was made for me to see and by the time it ended I felt choked up. This movie has a great and powerful message to it and I'm glad I was able to see it when I did.
In the end all Alfred ever wanted Bruce to have was to be happy and successful person not as a billionaire cape crusader, but knowing that he was successful with a family and moved on with his life.
@Grigorean Ciprian Money doesn't buy you back the people who you lost. It doesn't give you a purpose in a world that seems bleak and pointless even at the best of times. Money can buy a lot of things, it can make you happy even. But money isn't a substitute for love and stability. People forget that, and judge many celebrities harshly for it.
Idiots who keep saying that Bale's Batman is not that good of a detective...The first 30 seconds of the clip shows how wrong you are...He manages to get all the information on the thief after seeing her face only once in the previous scene...And he also analysed the substance on his safe to know that Selina not only came to steal the necklace but also his fingerprints.... That's amazing detective work!
Dhan next time someone says that, just copy and paste this comment mate: Batman Begins: - Tricks Ra's Al Ghul during the training making him think that he exposed himself because of his wound while he actually uses his wound to trick him, fast thinking. - Gathers evidence about most of the corrupt officials in a matter of short time, they were committing crime for years without getting caught I tell ya. - Look at how he fights in the docks when he's taking down Falcone and his thugs, he uses scare tactics to get rid of gunmen first, then proceeds to fight like 10-15 guys just to make them live to tell the tale. - Same with taking down Crane - After taking down Crane quickly proceeds to Fox, so that he can make some cure against his toxin after finding out that special technology for dissolving water supplies is taken and that all the water supplies were poisoned. - Which leads him to figure out that Ra's Al Ghul needs train to take the machine to Wayne Enterprise to spread toxin, good old deducting - Turns himself into distraction making Ra's think that he is trying to stop the train, while Bruce's whole plan was to keep Ra's busy while Gordon is destroying the bridge, so Bruce tricks him again, quick thinking once again. - Throughout the movie creates the symbol, a myth, because as a man with flesh and blood he is vulnerable, but as a symbol...well you get the idea. What I'm saying is, he doesn't just go fighting crime, he prepares everything, builds his base of operation, gathers evidence about his enemies and friends, gathers equipment for his battle, chooses specific symbol for the battle and then proceeds to kick some ass. It's not like CW Arrow where he just finds a factory and starts just writing off people from his list, Batman didn't have any list. The Dark Knight: - After a couple of years or so, all of the criminals are so scared that they operate only on the daylight, how about that? Night belongs to Batman - Suspecting that mobs work with Lau, invites him to his company so he can look at his accounts and confirm his suspicions. Knowing exactly that Lau took all their money, develops an ingenious plan to take him down in the China - So, at first he gathers equipment for his mission with his goal being faster and get into the plane without landing. Then creates alibi for Bruce Wayne's dissappearance that he took all the Russian ballet dancers with him on the boat trip, then goes to China discretely. Sets the timer on each of the sticky bombs at specific time, takes down all Lau's men, and bomb explodes and plane flies through exactly when police arrive and exactly when Bruce finished got Lau where he wanted. How can someone call him dumb after that? Are people high? - Uses government resources to change Fox's sonar device and infects every phone in the city in the way that he would be able to see everything. He does that at the middle of movie just in case as plan B without telling anyone, he knew that Joker would do something as huge as that so that he can use it - In the end device is useful, but as he knows exactly how Fox would react specifically builds up self destruction option for Fox. - The entire final battle is him strategically taking down everyone without killing them, my favorite moment is when he ties all cops, makes them think that he lost, but then pushes one and all fall with him, ingenious. The Dark Knight Rises, now to put in a context, Bruce is rusty here, he isn't thinking straight, he is psychologically destroyed, so his mistakes are justified, yet still: - Easily figures out that Selina is there to steal his fingerprints just by looking at the safe and what she took, he psychologically evaluates that she took necklace only because she liked it and she was there because of his prints. - Then he easily finds her...twice. - Just through looking at stories about Bane, figures out that someone who escaped should be Ra's Al Ghul's kid, he of course makes mistake here thinking that Bane is the one, but stories were saying that Bane was the one who escaped so he couldn't really know that. - Gets into freaking occupied city and no one notices him. - Specifically puts on plan that Catwoman would open up the roads in case, while Gordon would be handling a bomb and he himself creates a huge distraction in the form of an army...yes, the whole battle was just distraction. He knew that he wouldn't survive without Catwoman's intervention so that's why this plan was secondary. - Fixes autopilot thing that Fox himself couldn't fix and makes everyone think that he is dead so that Blake would continue his job, by that he practically turns symbol of Batman into something indestructible. Why you say? Batman is considered dead, but when Blake appears as Batman everyone would be twice as scared because criminals are superstitious lot, and they would think that Batman can't be killed. So he managed to both get a normal life and ensure that Gotham is safe by creating incredible myth. -
Really relate to this scene. As a guy that's only had one girlfriend, who passed away in an accident when we were teenagers, I get this. I'm 27 now and not had a girlfriend or been on a date since. I have hardly any friends nor much family so I understand Bruces frame of mind. You have no purpose in life. Unfortunately I have no Alfred in my life. Anyway, superb scene.
sean please get your way out of that life, man. I recently had a very bad experience with a girl I love and the experience exposed some truth in my life, I'll figure it out so do you.
"But I know the rage that drives you. That impossible anger strangling the grief, until the memory of your loved ones is just poison in your veins. And one day you catch yourself wishing the person you loved had never existed, so you'd be spared your pain"
“You’re not living, you’re just waiting, hoping for things to go bad again” Wow, this quote applies so well to our modern world especially since 2020, people are not really living, we’re like robots, going through the same actions everyday, stressed as ever.
The love that We know Alfred feels for Bruce moves me deeply. How much he cares for him almost brings me to tears in scenes like this. We all wish we had an Alfred.
The desolated expression Bruce does after Alfred tells him that he is not living but waiting, hoping for things to go bad again, is one of the most impressive depictions of depression and inconsolable sadness that I have ever witnessed. It captures the abandon of will
@@chocobochick5390 He didn't seem rude at all, he just wanted Bruce to find his real self and get back to the reall world. Alfred always wanted the better of him and to do that he had to use a specific tone

“You lost them, that’s all part of living, sir. But you’re not living, you’re just waiting; hoping for things to go bad again” That is so relatable. He makes me think of my grandfather, he said something very similar to me when I was at my lowest point in my life. I have a beautiful wife now and a daughter, what hurts the most is that he past away before I found happiness. Miss him every day xxxx
I broke up with my girlfriend 4 months ago and I reflect on this scene sometimes. I loved her for over 3 years, but I also knew her since we were kids sort of like Rachel and Bruce. I think I’m gonna give dating a break, I’m gonna give myself up to 8 years with the single life just like Bruce, grow a beard and maybe I’ll find my cat woman some day.
@@bluepunk8423 That's how you made it. Making yourself feel that you need someone to make you happy will only keep you less happy in the end. If you're not yet content being with yourself, you won't be with anybody. The temporary happiness and honey moon phase will pass and you'll just be like Wtf.
That wasn't the point of this scene. It was for Bruce to realize that there was a better life waiting else where for him. THAT'S what you should take from this dude.
I remembered when the movie came out, people absolutely hated that he hung up the cape. But I think that’s the point, and it’s what I love about Nolan’s Bruce. It’s about moving past and letting go of the pain and trauma of one’s life. This is a story for all those who suffered from PTSD and wants a peaceful life.
This scene makes me appreciate the ending to this movie even more after all these years. Alfred finally gets what he always wanted for Bruce and Bruce gets what he thought he could never have - a life beyond the cave and for the batman symbol to live on. This is storytelling at its finest; a great ending to a movie and for the character if I ever saw one.
Bruce is a such a good child, he did everything Alfred wanted in this scene , lol. He even ended up marying selina. I wonder if in that brief moment where Bruce said , she likes the pearls too much, Alfred kind of saw a soft spot in Bruce for Selina.
1:42 This is the moment that gets to me. You can see the pain in Alfred’s eyes. A small droplet of tear - he’s heartbroken to see the man he loves with his heart in such a situation. It is mind-boggling how good Michael Caine is.
It's so sad we will never see such an incredible superhero trilogy again consisting of films that aim to be great and not to simply satisfy stupid fanboys, set up fuckng sequels and make lots of money. If I knew the tsunami of crap that followed The Dark Knight Trilogy in the superhero genre I would've appreciated it even more while it was going.
@@Angyali Nah the Raimi trilogy is literally up there with the Nolan trilogy. Both third installments were shaky compared to the previous installments but still honest works of art

I relate to batman even more because of this scene. Everyone needs a Alfred in their life and Bruce is honestly lost without Alfred. He's technically more of a father to Bruce. "There's nothing out there for me"
This scene has always been close to me. My grandfather just passed but he always wanted what’s best for me and not the world. I never listened. And when my grandfather passed. I understood his fantasy. And made it happened.
Alfred was always the first and original BatCat shipper. "Fascinating. You both should exchange notes over coffee" - foreshadowing of Florence cafe scene.
I love how at the end of the movie Alfred's fantasy comes true and we get to see it, they don't say a word to one another they just give a little nod. Beatiful ending.
For those of us who have stood on a wall, we can relate to both Alfred and Bruce. Wanting to come home, but knowing you can't, really. And hoping that somewhere out there, some of your friends made it out too, that they can be just ordinary folks. And loving your Brothers in Arms as if they were your own. Great scene.
Michael caine is such a friggin legend. And these Batman movies proved it. Some of his scenes with bale are some of the most heartfelt and beautifully dark scenes of any superhero movie.
I relate so hard with Bruce‘s place of mind. I stopped living such a long time ago, I can’t even remember the last time I was genuinely happy. It feels like I‘m waiting for someone to pull me out of that hell but I also feel like there is no one who is able to do that. And I myself am too emotionally drained to try break free, I was so often disappointed by the world and I also lost the person I loved
I relate to that. After my crush ghosted me years ago similar to how batman got friendzoned. I just felt empty. I’m currently at the point where I’m not sad or happy anymore and I decided I’ll let god take care of my relationship thing cause I was tired of getting ghosted or my crush picking somthing else other then me. Now I’m just focusing on myself and leaving relationships for god to solve
betatalk357 Don't forget that what Batman does is illegal in and of itself so it would be hypocritical for him to allow no exceptions. The very fact that Selina is looking for the "clean slate" means she wants to stop her life of crime.
@betatalk357 you are wrong, the end of the third part is very good and it is a great to this trilogy, do not be misrepresenting or putting what suits you, so that you did not see what it is really about
“And you lost them, but that’s all part of living, but you’re not living, you’re just waiting, hoping for things to go bad again.” Dam that hit deep 😢😔
God Bruce is so depressed and Alfred is the only one that sees it and he makes the effort to help Bruce get better even when it meant having to leave him. To leave Bruce alone with the choices he made and to think about what his life was really worth and what he really wanted. Amazing relationship across 3 films
Alfred's scenes in this trilogy are some of my absolute favourites. His dialogue has a lot of punch to it, and Michael Caine's acting always brings me to tears in the more emotional scenes. One of the best characters by far.
Bale is good as batman and great as Bruce wayne. Affleck is good as batman and terrible as Bruce wayne. That's their difference. I wouldn't say that Affleck's acting is bad but I definetely prefer Bale as batman and Bruce
Bale’s Batman is based more on reality. What a superhero like Batman would be like in real life. Afleck’s Batman is based more on the comics, specifically Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. They both did great, but they played two different roles if that makes any sense. Bale did pretty good as both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Afleck did only okay as Bruce Wayne but amazing as Batman.
i'm 40+, was there for the 1st Batman movie (Keaton) and every other film since - but this Trilogy is something else - not just a comic book hero film but a blend of prob the greatest storyline ever written and graced with Mr Hans Zimmer, THIS will never be beaten
This scene just works in every way, the music is absolutely gut wrenching and beautiful, and Michael Caine’s performance is amazing, he is hands down the best alfred, and this will be the best batman series of movies. Now days movies lack the connection that these characters had, and i don’t think modern day iterations of Batman will ever top this. Like if u agree
Bale's subtle reaction of a surprise starting 1:06 is amazing. Very well done. The closest Batman will be to reality is Nolan's version of the caped crusader.
Michael Caine is absolutely spectacular as as Alfred. His scenes with Christian Bale are brilliant and this scene is where he has me tearing up every time. Michael Caine is the best Alfred ever.

Michael Caine said in an interview for the Dark Knight Rises that his role as Alfred was meant to represent us - the audience. His ability to be the voice of reason in an unreasonable world is such a memorable quality of his character.
I relate more to Bruce's point of view
And people say Nolan's movies are cold and emotionless
who the fuck says that?
BvS fangays
I've never heard anybody say this.
Bro, Nolan movies are all emotion. Interstellar actually made me cry a little. BvS is the one that is emotionless. "MAAARRRTTTHHHAAA"
Nobody says that.......
This broke my heart
*Same here* 💔💔💔
One of the most moving scenes in films history.
😭😭😭
This film is very emotional at times. Christian Bale, Micheal Caine, Christophet Nolan and Hans Zimmer are outstanding for emotion.
@@emiliodelbozo3155 That's why this is the best Nolan Batman film, because it has the most emotional impact!
This scene is so relatable. It tells about how life can be so miserable when you're alone
the ending of The Dark Knight Rises is where all this came true
+Michael Riley your sad Alfred's dream came true?
and in much better fashion. Like seriously, Bruce outclassed the douche in the fantasy , LMAO
Rohit Chohda no shit...
He saw him sitting across the table...when Alfred looked up and nodded...then saw Bruce in all of his happiness...the greatest scene OF ALL TIME...#BELIEVETHAT
The twist at the end that makes this fantasy come true makes this the best of the three movies personally.
I still think The Dark Knight is the best of the trilogy but this is one of my favorite scenes in cinema.
When he said "There's nothing out there for me", that's how I feel about my life

i am just 20 years old and i feel the same ! it may sounds funny but it seems anything i try to make me happy or make my life better
simply fails!
keep trying and reevaluate your methods
“I never wanted you to come back to Gotham, there’s nothing here for you except pain and tragedy” perfection in describing Bruce especially after he had been gone for so long, couldn’t have included the line and delivered it any better
The only thing that brings a sense of catharsis to Bruce is pain
@@alessiodelcastillo1613 it’s sad bruce thinks he’s cursed, Christian bale portrayed bruce perfectly
@@samburke1637 yep
I love how his voice cracks a bit at 1:58. It's such a good scene.
That friggin voice crack when he says it's your father's name....and it's all that's left of him. From the first movie is also another stellar scene where Alfred just cuts right to the heart of everything
Batman Begins - Year One
Dark Knight - Killing Joke
Dark Knight Rises - Dark Knight Returns
Makes sense
Dark Knight was Long Halloween
Alfred sees Bruce drowning in his own sadness and it’s breaking his heart. No parent/ parental figure wants that for their kids. Alfred just wants Bruce to be happy. But as long as Batman exists, that will be nearly impossible.
Poetic
Thank you
@@moshinrafsanjani7379 great ending for this movie
Beautifully said mate. I wish you love and happiness.
Thanks man!...
Thank you! Best of luck to you.

That was beautiful mate.
This goes to show that money cannot buy happiness.
Interesting point!
Although it still would be nice to be rich.

oy vey. Well you know what? If i want to have nice things in life and not worry about bills 247, then I guess i'm evil. you're saying Bill Gates is evil?
+Michael Riley well I'm willing to take a chance.
no CGI or fight scenes, just acting. one of the best moments in a superhero movie
Well said.
In the end all Alfred ever wanted Bruce to have was to be happy and successful person not as a billionaire cape crusader, but knowing that he was successful with a family and moved on with his life.
Grigorean Ciprian Money buys neither happiness nor integrity, especially for a man with a purpose like Wayne.
I come back to this video every few weeks. A beautiful piece of cinematography
Dhan He isn't that good of a detective because he would add that she also stole his hearth :D
Dhan next time someone says that, just copy and paste this comment mate:
Batman Begins:
- Tricks Ra's Al Ghul during the training making him think that he exposed himself because of his wound while he actually uses his wound to trick him, fast thinking.
- Same with taking down Crane
- After taking down Crane quickly proceeds to Fox, so that he can make some cure against his toxin after finding out that special technology for dissolving water supplies is taken and that all the water supplies were poisoned.
- Which leads him to figure out that Ra's Al Ghul needs train to take the machine to Wayne Enterprise to spread toxin, good old deducting
- Turns himself into distraction making Ra's think that he is trying to stop the train, while Bruce's whole plan was to keep Ra's busy while Gordon is destroying the bridge, so Bruce tricks him again, quick thinking once again.
The Dark Knight:
- After a couple of years or so, all of the criminals are so scared that they operate only on the daylight, how about that? Night belongs to Batman
- Suspecting that mobs work with Lau, invites him to his company so he can look at his accounts and confirm his suspicions. Knowing exactly that Lau took all their money, develops an ingenious plan to take him down in the China
- So, at first he gathers equipment for his mission with his goal being faster and get into the plane without landing.
He does that at the middle of movie just in case as plan B without telling anyone, he knew that Joker would do something as huge as that so that he can use it
- In the end device is useful, but as he knows exactly how Fox would react specifically builds up self destruction option for Fox.
- The entire final battle is him strategically taking down everyone without killing them, my favorite moment is when he ties all cops, makes them think that he lost, but then pushes one and all fall with him, ingenious.
The Dark Knight Rises, now to put in a context, Bruce is rusty here, he isn't thinking straight, he is psychologically destroyed, so his mistakes are justified, yet still:
- Easily figures out that Selina is there to steal his fingerprints just by looking at the safe and what she took, he psychologically evaluates that she took necklace only because she liked it and she was there because of his prints.

@@brucesnow7125 Excellent response!
It's like these clowns will only be satisifed if they see Batman walking around looking through a magnifying glass
This trilogy would not have been as good if Michael Cain wasn't in it.
Michael Nelson I hope you've changed your mind in the past 4 years...he made the movie.
I'm sorry for what you went through. I hope and pray that you find happiness with another special person.
I can relate and understand your feelings, hopefully you will have your moment and find an amazing person for you I'm sure of it
sean please get your way out of that life, man. I recently had a very bad experience with a girl I love and the experience exposed some truth in my life, I'll figure it out so do you.

Sean. You will be fine. Trust me. Just put one foot in front of another, however difficult it may seem.
"You're not living. You're just waiting, hoping for things to go bad again".
If a line ever encapsulated depression.
"But I know the rage that drives you. That impossible anger strangling the grief, until the memory of your loved ones is just poison in your veins. And one day you catch yourself wishing the person you loved had never existed, so you'd be spared your pain"
Isn’t it crazy everyone of his allies and enemies had something to teach Bruce?
@@dorreyeet1529very but that’s pretty smart of Nolan after all a man learns more from his enemies than his friends
“You’re not living, you’re just waiting, hoping for things to go bad again” Wow, this quote applies so well to our modern world especially since 2020, people are not really living, we’re like robots, going through the same actions everyday, stressed as ever.
Alfred : I never wanted you to come back to Gotham. I always knew there was nothing here for you, except pain and tragedy. T_T
This scene is key, without it the ending doesn’t have the same feeling
The love that We know Alfred feels for Bruce moves me deeply. How much he cares for him almost brings me to tears in scenes like this. We all wish we had an Alfred.
The desolated expression Bruce does after Alfred tells him that he is not living but waiting, hoping for things to go bad again, is one of the most impressive depictions of depression and inconsolable sadness that I have ever witnessed. It captures the abandon of will
Alfred .. the best friend a man can have.
I honestly don't like how rude he seemed in this scene.

I broke up with my girlfriend 4 months ago and I reflect on this scene sometimes. I loved her for over 3 years, but I also knew her since we were kids sort of like Rachel and Bruce. That's how you made it. Making yourself feel that you need someone to make you happy will only keep you less happy in the end.

The temporary happiness and honey moon phase will pass and you'll just be like
Wtf.
Your circumstances isnt that deep brah.
Isaac Gomez gaaaaaaaay
It'll be pretty lonely
Goosebumps every damn time
Bruce is a such a good child, he did everything Alfred wanted in this scene , lol. He even ended up marying selina. I wonder if in that brief moment where Bruce said , she likes the pearls too much, Alfred kind of saw a soft spot in Bruce for Selina.

Just coming back to watch this scene again to remind me that I'm not the only one going through this...
Greatest trilogy of all time
It's so sad we will never see such an incredible superhero trilogy again consisting of films that aim to be great and not to simply satisfy stupid fanboys, set up fuckng sequels and make lots of money. If I knew the tsunami of crap that followed The Dark Knight Trilogy in the superhero genre I would've appreciated it even more while it was going.
vbgggfff so true! I appreciate this movie more now than ever! I hated what happened with superhero movies shortly after the batman trilogy.
If cross-cut the two X-men trilogys, like this: X1 + X2 + DOFP, than that is a close second amoung comicbook-trilogys.

"When he says I still do" at the end! 🥺❤️❤️ what a good man Alfred is!! It takes a guy like Alfred to raise a hero like Batman 😎
I relate to batman even more because of this scene. Everyone needs a Alfred in their life and Bruce is honestly lost without Alfred. He's technically more of a father to Bruce. "There's nothing out there for me"
"You two should exchange notes over coffee." 😂😂
This scene has always been close to me. My grandfather just passed but he always wanted what’s best for me and not the world. I never listened. And when my grandfather passed. I understood his fantasy. And made it happened.
Alfred was always the first and original BatCat shipper. "Fascinating. You both should exchange notes over coffee" - foreshadowing of Florence cafe scene.
The only series of superhero movies where I equally care for the drama and the action
who the fuck is cutting onions :'(
Master Penquin horrible copy of an overused joke
I love how at the end of the movie Alfred's fantasy comes true and we get to see it, they don't say a word to one another they just give a little nod. Beatiful ending.
There is nothing out there for me..
It's just so well done! All aspects of the scene. Cinematography, music, Nolan flashback devices...fantastic
If Alfred got his wish and Bruce never came back, the league of shadows would have destroyed the city in the first movie.
betatalk357 Don't forget that what Batman does is illegal in and of itself so it would be hypocritical for him to allow no exceptions. The very fact that Selina is looking for the "clean slate" means she wants to stop her life of crime.
Ehem... Robin.
@betatalk357 for the right reasons eh? Sometimes I wonder if there's anything right in Gotham.
@betatalk357 you are wrong, the end of the third part is very good and it is a great to this trilogy, do not be misrepresenting or putting what suits you, so that you did not see what it is really about
@betatalk357 Fizzled like a weak man who's ran out of puff...so basically bruce wayne. Or as Bain so poetically stated "victory has defeated you"
“And you lost them, but that’s all part of living, but you’re not living, you’re just waiting, hoping for things to go bad again.” Dam that hit deep 😢😔
Me as Bruce when he says, "There's nothing out there for me." I'm afraid to have my heart broken.
One of the best scenes by far. Breaks my heart every time
Everytime I watch this scene in the film I have to pick the pieces off the floor that make my heart.
Michael Caine's Alfred was honestly so well done. His Alfred encompasses being a servant, a friend, and a father all in one seamless package.
I like how he's not forcing himself to be a father but just a wise man giving out a point on the current situation
When you get older this movie gets so deep
I share his same lifestyle except I'm not rich and I don't have anyone to talk to
Alfred freakin Pennyworth....
He is better batman than Affleck
AComicsnerd Ben Affleck can’t even act.
@@tdk488 I wouldnt say he's terrible. I think Affleck is the better batman and bale the better Bruce Wayne
More realistic but I would not say better, all Batman actors where stars with their own skills

There is nothing here for you other than pain and tragedy
Exactly how I feel about my town and why I won’t ever come back
Can I ask what happened?
i'm 40+, was there for the 1st Batman movie (Keaton) and every other film since - but this Trilogy is something else - not just a comic book hero film but a blend of prob the greatest storyline ever written and graced with Mr Hans Zimmer, THIS will never be beaten
Alfred - Every year I would take a holiday
Bruce - Hold up...you took unrequested leave?!
"There's nothing out there for me." That line hits hard
10 years on and this still hits in the feels.
Alfred reminds me of Ben Affleck's character in Good Will Hunting - selflessly hoping his friend goes onto better things, even if it means they leave.
When Alfred shares his fantasy
This was the moment I realized Bruce did have a father
This scene just works in every way, the music is absolutely gut wrenching and beautiful, and Michael Caine’s performance is amazing, he is hands down the best alfred, and this will be the best batman series of movies. Now days movies lack the connection that these characters had, and i don’t think modern day iterations of Batman will ever top this. Like if u agree
Hans Zimmer can’t miss🫡
Heart of gold and no one can take that away
This is what Man of steel movie needed. More emotion and drama in the character.
Alfred knows he can't be his only friend forever.
Never understood what Bruce meant when he said he did find someone; until I lost the woman I loved.
Rachel
'that nothing out there for me' hit directly to me
Bale's subtle reaction of a surprise starting 1:06 is amazing. Very well done. The closest Batman will be to reality is Nolan's version of the caped crusader.
