Important video for all MBA aspirants. The key takeaway, i think, is that due to its higher perceived brand value IIM tends to become first choice for most but in case you have 3+ years of workex then ISB can be a lot better option for you.

The Administration of IIMs is quite rigid, as the old folks don't want to adapt to change (Typical Govt. college). Whereas ISB is a bit different in this case. IIMs will always continue to enjoy their BRAND, whereas ISB is a silent killer.

No they won't. Very different types of papers and questions. So need to prep and practice separately
If you are an expert in CAT Quants you can sail through GMAT quants easily but you won't be able to do Verbal easily in GMAT..
Gmat verbal are different level and very harder than cat
ISB is expensive, very easy to get admission. It's better to go for a US/Au/UK/Canada master's degree.

No not really. As YLP applicant u will be assessed against other YLP applicants not the usual pool

All seats in ISB filled via different selection rounds. Fees may be around 35 lakhs this year

Out of every 8 candidates that apply to ISB, 1 gets selected
Out of every 100 candidates that apply to IIMS, 1 gets selected (in top 6 IIMs)
Sure. I mean I haven't checked stats but sounds reasonable because ISB is a much newer school. Also costly and people considering ISB are usually also considering US and other b schools. They apply once they have a good GMAT score. IIM on the other hand have CAT n that is a much more established xam like the iit jee..
That is because everyone applies to IIMs. Every 100 applicants who apply to Harvard B School, 12 get selected. 🤷 Everyone who opts for cat, get to apply to IIMs for free, plus the pool of applicants is also wide. Even people who have to yet graduated give exams and it is cheap.
On the other hand, applying to ISB requires 2 years of work ex, 20k for GMAT/GRE and around 5k for the application. So only people who are really sure about it, apply there:)
TLDR: Acceptance rate alone can not define the quality of the college
You can't consider everyone who writes cat as IIM applicants genius
@@ThatITGuy-jj4cp In Indian context, most of the people who want to pursue MBA, first aim for IIMs and it is their first priority. Only if they don't get into top IIMS, they go for ISB. I know I cannot generalize this but it's true for most of the people who get into ISB

ISB has a minimum 2 year policy. Yes u can give gre too

Thanks! A great comparison! In IIMs, do people with 2-3 years of work experience get multiple roles or job profiles that make use of their prior work ex? Provided Id like to continue in my current field(IT). Asking because I am confused between ISB and IIM and I have 2+ work ex.
not sure what you mean by multiple roles? one reason to go for ISB would be just 1 year commitment since you want to go back to same field. But if you are getting IIM A/B/C do note that the branding will stay with you forever too...roles will be similar for IT in both places...none of the colleges allow you to take up multiple roles during placement

Ur acads should be covered with CA and a decent gmat score. Just make sure you have some leadership / diversity points to highlight in ur sop as well and have clarity on what u want to do after ISB. That's it :)

Mayank that is not true. ISB has a regular pgpmax and a separate pgp pro. The pgp pro is executive and compares better to 1 yr mba from IIM. Jobs, student profile everything else from 2 ye iims compare similar to ISB regular pgp pro

But if you look at companies and roles that hire from these two, also eligibility criteria, both ISB and IIMs have their own executive mba for higher experience folks. Hope that's helpful. I beg to disagree. IIMs one year course is similar to ISBs pgp pro both of which have 6-8 years workex requirement. ISB normal pgp has a work ex need of 2 yrs only and is comparable to IIM pgdm (2 yr course)

ISB no, some tier 2 may hire. PE in general don't hire directly from IIMs either. Sometimes they do have internships and rare cases give pre-ppacement offer based on intern performance. They mostly hire through laterals...

IIMs attract better talent than ISB in all programs. The crap that ISB keeps talking about "flagship program" is horse manure- all it means is that they try to get people placed into startups to show 100% placements. To the potential candidate comparing the two- if you get the 1 year option from IIMs, prefer them over ISB. Don't be misguided by alums- they have to praise their alma mater to keep the market value of their degree high. The wanna be is just riding a marketing hype with an intake of 800 average minded cohort.
I know countless students from ISB who regretted their decision to spend 45L beguiled by hype that ISB branding team creates.

Did you know IIM 2 year program is what they call their flagship? 1 year iim and ISB pgp are not comparable AT ALL - I am not talking about placements but also kind of people who come, experience, age, everything, my friend. If u r so confidently saying this, I atleast hope u r from ISB or IIM :)

The 1-year programs from IIMs and ISB is what gets ranked in FT rankings- something that ISB gloats about. Both what would compare to the 1 year MBAs popular in Europe. Just calling something "flagship" doesn't make it anything special. Tata Nano was the flagship of the Tata Motors Group, it doesn't compare to Corolla- the car that Toyota sold as common-man car. ISB gets a somewhat higher FT ranking because of the research from exchange professors who come to India in holiday spirit. They come to enjoy the local food and spend time with family- its not serious research and collaboration within departments and labs is completely absent. IIMs have done it through building departments and actually full-time faculties.
I have no grudge against the students from ISB. Just sick and tired of their lies peddled to keep branding up. You don't see the same from any IIM selects (1-year or 2-year). LinkedIn is full of ISB kids past few weeks twisting in orgasm of getting selected.
PS to potential candidate- with an intake of 2000+ in IIMs (ABC- 1 yr & 2yr combined), 800 in ISB, and 16,000 + in IITs- branding of all degrees has faded. Just have good aptitude in your field, make good switches in career and keep moving. It will get you places.

@@sahilsetu8069 let me give u some perspective. U r right. Har college me burai hai. Like ISB is not for finance folks. ROI is quite bad compared to IIMs. On the good side, yes students are treated much better than other b-schools in India in terms of rooms etc. If u watch out channel, you will see us call out these often. And in this video also these things have been called out.
Additionally, Rahi ameero ki baat, loan Leke jate hai Sab. Sab mere tumhare jaise hi middle class ke log ate hai Waha. Yes there are a few from business families and that is 1 percent of the class.

@@InsiderGyaan i agree with you on loans. But still only those will take a loan who know that after getting into a job, they could easily repay their loan and work on their life. But, adding to this, There are people who are already overburdened with a number of stuffs in their life that taking an additional loan of any amount and repaying it back could be a humongous problem for them.
See, even if i put a lot of scathing remarks about isb, i know I cannot change what that college is actually potential of giving one. It is one of the premium colleges that India have. No doubt in that. Hands down.
But one thing we must also not promote and that is education based on such huge money.
In the end we need to understand that these colleges are itself a business organisation. If we make education so costly then believe me, we are not preparing for a better tomorrow. We are preparing a best model of capitalism for tomorrow.
We as a student, should not revolt. But at-least speak about these issues openly.
Must put forward the good and bad of any institution.
PS - i am not against ISB. Had i given a chance to study in such a premium college, i would run to grasp it. But, atleast we should not endorse something that is to some length ethically and morally not right.
