I love these ramblings about different training techniques. Every time I get something out of it and think "hey, next time I'm in the gym I'm going to try that" Thanks for the great videos.

Thanks Doug & Ric. I have been training with Doug's principles (exercises, frequency, split, supersets & reps etc.) for a few months now and would recommend these workouts to all. Thanks again Doug.

I agree completely with the hammer curl assessment. It's a much stronger position and puts much less stress onto the joints but overloads the muscles you're trying to work. I like doing standing barbell curls with the "tricep bar" where your hands are in a hammer position

    Fascinating Captain Brignole !
This isolates the training even more so, this one arm training.
I’m doing it, but only one hard work set to failure like Mike Mentzer recommends.
That’s with a lighter warmup first of course.
Feels great, no need for extra sets.

Always preferred hammer-curls because of the forearm incorporation but they probably only encompassed 1/4th of my bicep work. Going to bump that up to maybe 2/3rds or more. Great info Doug.

I first learned about (what Doug calls) "cross-education" as a music student in college. My trumpet professor noticed I was having difficulty with a particular passage in a solo; he had me practice just that passage for a week using the opposite (left) hand. The following week, I tried it again with the right hand...ta-dahhh!
I've also used this in my Krav Maga practice, switching from a right-hander fighting stance to a left, practicing strikes and punching combos "southpaw"...& it works!

I move both dumbbells up simultaneously during bicep curls... not 1 at a time...
Is that wrong or?... I focus on matching the exact movement of one arm to the other and I find it's more difficult to do that with 1 at a time..
