Actually looking forward to seeing one of these. Had two Scenics when kids were little T and 02 plates and both were great cars. Got the Megane Etech and if that’s anything to go by Renault will have put together a great EV Scenic.
Love and hate videos like this. I only found this channel recently, about a week after I got my new car in fact. I was still really unsure about going completely electric, so I got a plug in hybrid. The Renault Captur. I don't work too far, so I've done nearly all 350 miles on electric, fuel level hasn't changed. So naturally I'm now feeling like I should have just gone full electric, and when I see cars like this, it really drives home the point. Your review of the Megane had me feeling the same way. So for now, I'll just have to wait until I replace it in a few years, but I shall continue to torture myself by watching AutoEV. 😅
Contrary to all the reviews the Scenic Alpine will NOT have the panoramic roof or 3D camera in the UK. I I ordered this very same car in same colour and trim just this week
Great review & another well thought out Renault 👌. We recently got a new Megane Etech (Iconic) & its a fantastic motor, smooth, powerful, decent tech & very comfy, it just makes you smile everytime you drive it ( I've never thought much of Renaults before, or purchased one until the Megane Etech), so I've no doubt this will be another great car to own & drive. You did miss the excellent digital rear view mirror on this one, its strange for the first 5mins when you first use it & then it becomes normal, the camera view is crystal clear & wide & its much better than a standard mirror! There were also phone pockets on the rear of the front seats for back passengers too 😉 The megane etech comes with a deep boot too & to be fair I wasn't sure how much i'd like it with my bad neck / back, but it fits loads of my work cases in etc & other things & it stops things sliding everywhere while you drive which is better than a flat floor for 90% of the time you use a boot, so Its actually better most of the time. Now i've gone EV I'm never going back to ICE vehicles, EVs are sooooo much better & the 220bhp on the Renaults is seriously fun to drive too! Keep em coming Renault
I’ve just taken delivery of a Megane E-Tech as my new long term test car. It’s going to be very busy over the next few months and I’ll be doing update videos. Would be good to hear your thoughts on your car too, good and bad.
@@AutoEV Bad there aren't many, there's an alarm issue which isn't Renaults fault, its retro fitted in the UK before delivery (UK spec) but it needs a fix as it keeps going off randomly until taken to the garage for an update. There's a blind spot from the thick front pillars, but you do get used to it & the tech is a good backup for errors. The keyfob can eat batteries apparently ( 3months in no issue for us so far) Other than that its fantastic 👍
Absolutely in love with this car... we had a test drive and I knew straight away that this was the one!! So silent, smooth and so comfortable to drive... So now its time to get rid of my Renault Scenic 7 seater which I've had for 13 years, it never let me down! Can't wait for my new wheels ti arrive 😍...Thank you Renault for making such an amazing car...loving the new style.
Firstly may I say how much I love your reviews I think you do a great job, I am also looking forward to you testing one of these as it’s on my list alongside the Megane To purchase soon, the sooner the better please
Well first of all thank you for your kind words. I’m glad you enjoy the channel. As a reward, I can tell you that you won’t have to wait too long. Off to drive it in a couple of weeks all being well…..🤞
Like the look of it, but as I’m getting older, the thought of that deep boot puts me off. Would also prefer something other than a third stalk as a gear selector. Great ‘first thoughts’ from you as ever.
Enjoy your reviews, so thank you. As a regular viewer of your reviews here in Australia, it would help a lot if, in all of your reviews, you listed the Kilometres as well as Miles when talking about vehicle range. I understand this is a UK based channel, hence why you focus on Miles, but as someone who lives in a world of Kms, not Miles, that section of your review always becomes a bit meaningless unless I get out a calculator to convert. You don't necessarily have to speak about the Kms, just include them in your on-screen graphics like at 22:00 eg RANGE WLTP: 260 Miles / 418km (standard range) WLTP: 380 Miles / 611km (long range) Thanks and keep up the good work.
Thank you for watching, supporting and taking the time to comment on the video. Its great to get feedback like this, and this is something that I will look into including on future videos. Bryan.
I really like your reviews. So comprehensive and informative - lots of factual information and good video which provides a proper evaluation of the car that you are assessing. I also find myself agreeing with so many of your comments whether it is of the Scenic, the Megane E-Tech (of which I am an owner) or the updated Tesla M3. I work for a used EV dealer so get to drive many different EVs and whilst people will look for different things and there are few bad EVs I am still looking for that elusive one that really meets my requirements. Whilst it has in in some areas slipped behind more modern EVs I cannot bear to part with my BMW i3s albeit it is now a second car. It is just so easy to live with. Who needs a touch screen when you have an iDrive controller? With ACC it has an adequate level of tech and the cabin ambiance with the Lodge interior and a sunroof still makes it a lovely place to sit. The Scenic is too big a car for my needs but I really think Renault are on a roll and their new EV models are IMHO really blowing all my perceptions of not just the Renault brand but the design and quality of their latest cars. I had the opportunity to have a preview of the new Peugeot 3008 and was quite disappointed. Peugeot has clearly taken some inspiration from the Megane E-Tech but the execution was lacking. I may though have been somewhat prejudiced by my dislike by the i cockpit instrument and steering wheel positioning.
Excellent video with very good writing. Have never thought of Stalltis group until this video. It would be good to have a car where if parts are needed they are nearer than the slow boat from China. The range on the big battery will tempting to remove any range anxiety for just about all my use.
Land of hope and glory 👍 beautiful reference to classic music! Now the prices are revealed, I am in shock, positive shock! Basically its the same pricing like Megane! And Megane now dropped like minus 8k€? Wow.
There is a Danish car reviewer who's reporting, that the Scenic will feature Apples next generation CarPlay, where that will be visible not only on the huge screen, but also the cockpit, so it's only Apple across both screens. The weird thing is that from all the videos I've seen of the Scenic reviews, the Danish guy has been the only person so far who has reported this. He wrote me that he heard this from Renault, but I'm wondering why nobody else is mentioning this, considering the high anticipation this next-generation CarPlay has. Have you heard something about this?
The issue we have is that the different markets get different specs, so until we have access to a full UK model, I wouldn’t second guess. The Megane reviews all stated the big screen and then it turned out UK cars wouldn’t be getting it. However, as and when we do know, we will have the car in for a full Road Test Review. I have to say that having full CarPlay across all screens would be brilliant.
I’m going to be running a new Megane for the next few months so I’ll let you know how I get on with them. Initially I find the three of them annoying though.
0:47 “Renault Zoe …… a really, really good small EV” The Renault Zoe (Mk2) is not a good car at least not if you are concerned about occupant safety. The Mk2 is actually less safe than the MK 1 due to deletion of some safety kit. In fact it is only the third car in history to achieve an NCAP safety rating of ZERO stars. 👏👏👏
We had a MkII Scenic which had an engine in the front but the innovation of virtually no bonnet - this is an ev with no engine but a massive space-wasting 'bonnet'; am I missing something? No usp or flair like the originals, just another tedious 'crossover'.
But it’s what people are buying, that’s my point of frustration. I wish the bravery would return to manufacturers where they dictate what they will build rather than buyers dictating what they want.
I think this is more chicken and egg. Customers want “crossover SUVs” because the car manufacturers want to sell “crossover SUVs”. Even the fiesta and focus have gone and been replaced by crossover SUVs despite still being popular. Personally I would rather have a Fiesta or Focus EV.
Fashion dictated the car styling between 1950 and the new millennium. Lower, longer, wider etc. but they really weren't as practical as the older higher car styling that had come before. Step down styling was great for tearing around a speedway, but not so good when car seats became mandated for kids up to 12, or when people for older. Body color fenders rocker panels and bumpers might look nice, but unpainted black plastic deals with routine scratches much better. Compare the actual dimensions and these new crossovers are just old fashioned cars as they were in the '40s and '50s. Higher ground clearance, more upright seating, easier entry and egress, and much easier to install, move and use child seats. Gear heads might wish everything was a sports car, but regular drivers need more practicality.

Lovely car, inside and out. What a dreadful shame that it's not available as a Petrol.....because I am not buying an EV till forces to do so.
3 stalks on the right hand side of the wheel 🤔 is that really needed in 2023?
