I was about 50km south of you guys in New York and saw it there. Cameras just can't capture what a solar eclipse actually looks like, and what it FEELS like! It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen and probably ever will see.
Do you mean 500 km south? Because 50km from Montreal doesn't even reach a quarter of the distance to Ottawa, it's next closest big city. For comparison, 498 km is from Montreal to Toronto, still withn Canada. Add another 40 - 50 km to that and you reach NY state.
@@_Just_Another_Guy Maybe closer to 100km south, straight down into the states, not southwest into Ontario. It definitely wasn't 500km south. I had to be in the zone of totality!
This is for me the most natural total solar eclipse footage I have seen during this year's eclipse. No auto adjustment of brightness so you can distinguish that, is it already dark or not yet.
I drove up from South Carolina and was right there with you! Montreal is a fantastic city! Perfect weather and a perfect clear sky. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing. It happened so fast it almost felt like a dream. I got goosebumps just watching it again!
I witnessed it in Dallas,Texas. Absolutely Amazing!!! I'm sure as you can agree, no picture or video does it justice as you view in person. First your jaw drops in awe, followed my a smile from ear to ear. And then chills are running through your veins. What a great moment that was. 😎
What I find sad about this eclipse, is that there were people out there that thought it was not safe to view it even during totality. So many people missed out on the best visual of the eclipse
@@MegaChallanger I agree. Either they were misinformed or didn't know any better. A lot of them missed the diamond part because they were too quick to put their glasses on.
@@MegaChallanger I was with my grandma and I told her when the son is fully blocked it you can take the glasses off, she did not believe me till she told me she could not see the eclipse. She did end up taking them off cause I told her again.
I think what is most shocking, in my case at least, is how suddenly that "black ball" floats in front of the sun and it stays there. There you really become aware of how incredible and magical gravity and the solar system are.
Agreed 👍🏽 👍🏽. Hands down the best amateur footage so far, better than any thing else I have seen. We drove from Steinbach MB to Montreal . Then we chased the “apocalypse” 😅 down “as my five year old called it😊). We ended up driving from Montreal to Gagon QC , on the north shore of lake Memphremagog, about 140 kms east towards Sherbrooke. The pictured I took don’t show it justice or any where clear as this video did. Well worth the drive. Great video again.
I'm not gonna lie, if I was a person who lived back in the ancient days and witnessed this, I would crap my pants and start yelling "THE SUN HAS FORSAKEN US! THE GODS ARE ANGRY! GATHER THE ANIMALS FOR SACRIFICE! BLOOD MUST BE SPILT TO QUELL THEIR ANGER!" then, after a few minutes when the sun came back I'd calm down I guess.
I’m glad you film it. I watched it from the same spot as you…I think you might be in the old port. I was with some friends out there and didn’t really let the best of my emotions get me.. I’m watching this and I’m crying my ass off… The energy was so above me… -32 year old man😅😢
I had so many emotions, crying with joy, mouth hanging open so much I drooled, it made a responsible 27 year old adult drool all over herself. I'm going to see the 2045 one too, after seeing this, I absolutely must experience it again.
@Estieee-ij7su It annoys me how people think is a sign of Jesus's coming back or something from the Bible like just let us enjoy this historical moment 🤡
Dwayne chéri je t'adore mon ange Love so see Solar Eclipse with u chéri Its so beautiful so clever and always so moving so emmotionel Dwayne Elliot chéri like u mon amour ...
I saw it over here in Pittsburg, New Hampshire! I'm not too far from you! This was so amazing! I'm usually Miss Chatterbox, always with a lot to say, but I was in such awe of the whole thing that other than repeatedly yelling at my younger brother to not look at the sun before totality, I didn't say anything. My mouth hung open in awe. I actually drooled. I'd never seen anything like this before. I was impressed by the 56% eclipse in 2017, but this was so much more amazing. The sky looked so weird, I don't even know how to describe what I saw. It's so weird, we know what we're looking at, we know how it works, but for events like this, it's the emotional part of the brain that's in control.
Great footage! Well done. I saw totality at my home in Southern Ontario, but my one aunt watched from her balcony in Villeray. The other aunt was in the Cantons de l'Est. Beautiful!!
The sun darkened slowly from one end to another steadily, but then paused once the middle of the sun was darkened. After the brief pause, it clears up, but faster than the time it took to darken. This happened also in the prior eclipses.
Hey man I say how you used to be in NMJA and I’ve always wanted to be in there but it was never meant to be but I love your run and I still play RO-JAM and I’m pretty good at it too
This is way more amazing with this cloud cover all around the eclipse, because, thanks to that, it is complete darkness, thus way more spectacular than total solar eclipses in cloudless skies where the luminosity looks like mere twilight..... Here, the only area without clouds is where the eclipse is, so it's perfectly perfect perfection....
The video is darker than it was to make the corona look more like it did in person (although it seemed much bigger to the naked eye). During totality there was a darkness like just after the sun sets, when the sky is still bright on the horizon, but the sunset was 360 degrees all around the sky. Words and pictures cannot do justice to this experience, it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
@@42fbaoh ok, thanks for the explanation. I agree, no amount of photos or videos gives justice to a total eclipse justice. It must be lived in person to fully appreciate it. BTW, I was in Eagle Pass, Texas myself for the eclipse (the first place in the USA to see the eclipse). ☀️
I didn’t take my glasses off until 100% totality was reached, I filmed it directly from my iPhone but did enhance the lighting a little bit to give the full effect. :)
So, I've seen both North American eclipses. This video perfectly captures the reactions of people. They're not cheering or clapping like at a magic show- you literally have a personal reaction to this that you can't control that is primitive and human.
Interesting to see,Last time I can ever remember seeing the Total Solar Eclipse here in the UK was back in 1999,Looks like we be getting next one in the year 2090,I be 112 years old then,I be a very old man then lol,Thats if im still here to see the next one,Here's the google answers......The next full solar eclipse in the UK isn't expected for another 66 years, on 23 September 2090, according to the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. The UK's last total solar eclipse occurred in 1999. Thousands of people flocked to Cornwall, which was the only place in the UK to witness the event in its totality

This is the best amateur footage that I have seen so far. Not even news station cameramen know how to film an eclipse.
For real. The cameraman captured the moon blocking the sun perfectly!
Realmente! Muito bem filmado!

true, everyone is only filming the people

We saw it from Mazatlán…still in tears
a life changing experience

Didn't get to see it in person. From SK. Thanks for this video. It must have been awe-inspiring!
Very good video! Saw it in Vermont, an incredible experience. Watching this brings tears to my eyes.
Me too. I watched it with a solar eclipse party in Shelburne, VT.
I saw this personally residing in the Montreal area…..TOTALLY FANTASTIC!
My cousin was in Montreal! And got engaged. I saw it from the Thousand Islands. Amazing experience.

I can honestly say that I wasn't prepared for what a surreal experience that was. Shame it only lasted 90 seconds, not nearly long enough!
Well thanks for that. All we saw in Rochester NY was the under side of some dark clouds.
Fantastic footage
