Gold Mine High Grading, Hammer Mill Maintenance, Ore Processing, Gold Smelting & Refining

  • There is still gold in this underground mine! We have found a spot at our gold mine where the old miners left rich ore and we are going to get it out and crush it down to recover the lost gold they left behind. We needed to do some underground improvements such as timbering and putting in a rail system to aid in getting the ore out from underground and down to the truck and then to the mill. Once we recovered the ore we get the 1 ton per hour gold milling system up and running by doing some hammer mill maintenance and changing the hammers. Once the system is ready the ore is processed and the gold is recovered and smelted down and refined to pure precious metals!

    Hi Jason!
I know that you have been working so hard on and dying to show us all the beginning to the end of gold mining. From extracting to ore, moving it to your truck and then bringing it back and processing it from the very beginning on your system to the end, I love this video you did a great job and I am just as impressed now as I have been since I discovered you on TH-cam

I just stumbled on your video today. This will be the fourth one I’ve washed in a row. I did a little gold panning in Idaho back in the 60s with my dad. Later on in life I tried it with my kids but I never found any gold to speak of. Of course I was told by somebody there was a little bit of gold dust in the bottom of my thimble size bottle. Probably wasn’t even true. Anyway very interesting keep up the videos I’ve really enjoyed them. Maybe I’ll give it a try again one day.

I was impressed with the efficiency of the jaw crusher. I have operated jaw crushers for years and have found they produce best when the jaws are full of material (but not overflowing of course).I am curious to know if your jaw crushers implement a safety so that if a chunk of steel is accidentally dropped into the jaws the damage is minimized?

That same Teflon technology comes in wheel bearing form, so you don't have to slide your stuff on kiln-dried pine, hoping to prevent the effects of degradation over the off season. Also, for your bucket-decending system, use a large-diameter axle, fixed so it won't rotate, and wrap your control rope around it a few times. This will give you low-stress control over it, and you won't have to worry about it obliterating the cab of your truck. The wraps around the axle will multiply whatever friction you put on your end. This system also works in reverse, if the axle is spun. You just pull on the rope, this causes it to grip the axle (capstan, I think it's called), and the axle provides the bulk of the pull, but under your easy control.

I was wondering about those rails, is there any gold in that mud covering the floor? I love the aerial tram! Taking a clue from the past. Might want to put a little WD 40 to spray on that teflon rub plate every time you haul some buckets up. Looks like you could use 300' of teflon on the wooden rails as well. Freeman balers had big rollers on the plunger base that were greaseable, they were low profile, maybe they would work on the bottom of your ore cart hauling the buckets up. Nice Job! I love what you are doing! Its great to see the gold coming off the shaker table!

David, This channel is like a text book for small gold miners, great work as usual. Did you add ANY lead to the Cons before smelting . And did you way the button before Cupeling. Also have you considered a vibrating fines screen after the Jaw crusher to divert the minus final mesh size portion ifrom the jaw crusher discharge before feeding into the hammer mill to save wear on the hammers and speed up processing. You could perhaps run the minus portion over a pulse jig before the pulp enters the shaker feed.

If you can run your pulley horizontal one side can function as a in while the other side an out. Slow motor outside. Might have to run a line in for a remote stop start. Plus you can wax your 2x4s to reduce friction

Hi Jason,im from London England ,ive been enjoying many of your videos ..im just watching you replace the hammers and of course this is an expensive and quite time consuming job..I am thinking that perhaps you could deisn a way of either an external screw that would cause the internal plates to move closer to the hammer head blades ,perhaps a bit like a book press system.Or alternatively when they wear a slotting system where you could fit a secondary internal plate when required ..I know you manufacture these machines and im sure your customers would love these cost savings and make them more saleable due to cheaper running costs ...best wishes Murray

Hey Jason. The barrier to entry even in a small operation like this is just too great for most artisanal or small miners. Everybody seems to have lots of ore but the cost to process it is time consuming and money consuming. The people and groups that buy your equipment should be some sort of consortium, like the old day. Somebody owns the equipment and you bring in your ore and put it through the process for a fee. probably make more money than mining the gold itself. A flat per ton fee.......

For the downhill run, have the full bucket pull the empty bucket for you.
Check out a guy in England that does demo of chimney's, his loaded bucket raises the empty bucket.

The strength in wood framing is in compression. We stack one piece on another. The only time we hang a piece by the end is if it sits in a hangar made for that purpose. Around 5 minutes it is clear that the whole weight is hanging on a couple of screws. Put blocking under the rails, not just in the side. By the way. Nails are way stronger than screws. Screws break often just from vibration and the wood swelling and shrinking.
