- A remarkable feat by hero pilot Chesley “Sully' Sullenberger will forever be known as the “Miracle on the Hudson.” He landed a US Airways jetliner in New York’s Hudson River, after losing engine power. Fifteen years later, 12 passengers who were on board the ill-fated jet were reunited at Inside Edition's studios in New York. They could see the spot where the drama unfolded from a window. Inside Edition’s Steven Fabian has more.
15 years ago…… wow . what a champion pilot.
I was in high school when this happened. I'm now 31. Can't believe it has being 15 years.
Same. It was all over the news and I heard my teachers talking about. I kinda still remember that day 😅 time flies
* been
I was 7 almost 8
It was a shame how the pilot was treated in the beginning but he’s a hero wonderful everyone survived
You know that movie was Hollywoodized right?
I don't remember anyone treating him badly. As soon as the news came out that day, everyone was calling him a hero.
The NTSB actually sided with Captain Sully throughout the whole investigation and concluded that he made the right choice
@@fernlin-healy2174 In the movie they ask a lot question to CaptainSullenberger.
@@donald8354 That's the movie. In reality they always supported him. The air traffic controller mentioned in an interview that the movie was inaccurate in that way because the producers wanted to make it more dramatic.
The fact Sully had both the knowledge and courage to put the plane down on the Hudson is miraculous. Lots of pilots wouldn't have had the fortitude to even try that.
Cant believe its been 15. Still feels like it happened only 7 or 10 years ago. Time flies...
Man, I could've sworn this story was in the mid 2010's. Being reminded it was *2009* is insane.
Skill, Training, and The aircraft itself have combine to save the lifes of 155 people 15 years ago. As aviation enthusiast, Sully is one of my favorite movie in my opinion.
Skill. Instinct. Not so much the training. Any other pilot would have killed everyone training or not! Sully was actually chastised as became public record. Nope not training. Every single one of these souls owes their life to Sully first! Secondly is our hero medical police fire emt etc.
One silver lining is the life-long bond that the passengers and crew now have.
I was 10 in elementary school when this happened, and I went with my grandparents two months on a trip after and worried that this would happen to us. But thank God it didn't, and now I'm 25, wanting to become an aerospace engineer and build airplanes. Hopefully, I'll make a difference and prevent air disasters in the future.
Get it!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Good luck. What a cool job. 👍
I was 9 years old when it happened and unfortunately I was homeless with my parents because our house caught fire but fortunately it wasn’t a total loss. I did watch the movie of Sully and watched the story of how it happened and truly. Sully is a hero for rescuing all of the passengers and crew. I’m 24 years old and can’t believe how time goes quickly.
Hope you'll succeed at your career goals 🙂.
I was in my dad's ballsack when this happened, now I'm in middle school eating glue but hopefully one day I'll make a difference and prevent other kids from eating glue...😊
I remember this tragedy in January 2009 good thing everybody survives
15 years on it’s a good thing the movie Sully is made for America and the world to hear their story.
This truly was a miracle. The fact that everyone survived is a testament to the strength of the human will to survive. That photo of the passengers lined up on the wings (which I hope won a Pulitzer) is forever etched in my mind.
Pretty crazy how everybody survive on a very cold day in NY
Such an incredible miracle! ❤❤
Props to Sully for his skills
I was 6 years old now 20 and I remember hearing about this I forgot about it’s good seeing everybody together
Still feels like yesterday
It wasn't a miracle. It was a fantastic pilot.
It can't be both?
@MoonMoon-fx1op No. Saying it was a miracle does Sully a great disservice. It removes the majority of credit he deserves for his training, calmness, quick thinking and decisiveness.
@@Revelian1982 😂😂 OKAY
@@MoonMoon-fx1op Okay. Which bit was the miracle, in your opinion?
@@Revelian1982 the fact he was even able to land the plane after a bird strike (which made it lose all engine power)....on a river.... with NO casualties. It's LITERALLY called "Miracle on the Hudson" 😂.
After all this time, watching this now, man I get such chills and tear up at seeing and hearing them......
A very touching message ❤️❤️
Proud to share a birthday with Sully!!!
15 years jeez time flyzzz ✈️ May god bless them all 💙
The one guy in front didn’t raise his hand once, he was ready to risk it all that day 🥴😂
The movie “Sully” explains it all.
No it misrepresented what happened quite a bit
@@M_SC Can you explain why?
I really dont like that people dont credit both pilots. They were a well working team. First officer Jeffrey Skiles ran through extensive checklists. If sully had to do that by himself, it may have not ended the same
On a different video, I watched they credited the first officer also. They spent a lot of time telling what he did.
God bless them all.
I remembered this crush it was on the national news and the airplane company blamed the captain making the decision of crushing safely into the Hudson River as they claimed they figured a much better solution when it wouldn't matter as the flaw wasn't his fault and he had to choose continue to the nearest airport which would meant the plane could have crushed and be destroyed or crush safely in the nearest water which was the Hudson River. He did the right thing and they treated him like a criminal when actually he was a hero saving these people lives.
Great story, thank you for reporting Inside Edition!
Great video
Its 15 years 🔥🔥
wow I just randomly decided to watch sully tonight, didn't even realize it's been 15 years already!
I remember this like yesterday I was 14 years old
He would. Good pilot
Damn I was young when that happened. I vividly remember that.
I remember that
thats funny, im reading a book about chesley sullenburger right now lol
If you have seen the Tom Hanks movie Sully inspired by this story you need to.
No you don’t. Much better to watch all the news and reporting and documentary stuff
Tom went to the island.
@@onlyicedcrybaby7297he sure did
I saw this on Mayday Air Disaster on TH-cam.
15 years....
wow doesn't feel like it was 15 years ago
Miracles exist
Dang. I was in high school when this happened? Jeez time flies
I'm still in highschool
Everyone's gratitude brings a tear to my eye. Just imagine if Sully was not hired and a less qualified person was hired just to meet a useless quota. They would all be dead.
RIP US AIRWAYS
I can’t believe they tried to persecute this hero pilot. Shame on them.
They may have been on a plane for travel, but the real flight was for survival, and the real treasure was the friends they made along the way.
so manifest was right that the passengers became best friends
Watched Sully again.
One of the passengers appears to have confused the Inside Edition office for a catwalk at Fashion Week. Hopefully NY Fashion Week rather than London or Milan.
My GOD.... 2010 seenms like 5 6 years ago
A teacher from my school was on it
I was 11 when i heard about the ditching
0:28 her old ass can barley walk 😂😂
❤🎉❤ 0:26
Amen. So happy y'all survived. Praise Jesus
Praise mighty Neptune 😂🙌

The passengers should have sued the airline for what they went through, as SOMETHING was to blame for that plane not being able to take just one birdstrike
No, completely false. The birds that struck the aircraft were canada geese, which have an average wingspan of 4.1 to 6 feet. The CFM-56, which is the engine used in the A320, is 7.9 feet long. The birds had wingspans that were almost as long as the engines themselves. They were ingested into both engines causing a dual engine flameout. Most birdstrikes happen with smaller birds, this one was different.
Why is it always suing with people?
@@MacabreAfterparty Because often suing is a good thing as it’s a way to make who is being sued have consequences for their actions.
@@Mario87456 Not in this instance.
@@MacabreAfterpartyActually it would have been at least against the airline anyway NOT the pilot of the plane. They were too cowardly to sue the airline.
US Airways
First.
Dang mine took longer to load
That’s what she said
⬇️ Within 10 Minutes Gang
Gods hand all over them.
The guy talking about his son 🤭
I am waiting for your answer it's no trick question. Many people have made mockery in science for example and they were gone and huimilated pls don't do the same.
